Its been three days and I can't stop thinking about our meal here! Wish we'd found this spot on our first night in Spring Hill instead of our last. We had the calimari appetizer, and while normally I'm completely neutral on calamari, this was fantastic. The breading was so light that the flavor of the fresh calamari showed through. I had blackened mahi and the portion was so big I took home half of it for second dinner later that night. Social distancing and masks were in full effect by staff, and our server kept the refills coming which I always appreciate (especially when seated on the patio in 95 degree heat!). Celebrated a neighbor's birthday Monday for lunch at Sam's - his choice - on a warm sunny afternoon. All hosts and waitstaff were wearing masks - we are now in Phase 2 of reopening after quarantine shutdown. Our waitress was very attentive and cordial. It was wonderful to sit on the shaded deck feeling the breeze off the water. The hubby and birthday boy ordered Coronas, our neighbor ordered a Diet Coke, and I ordered a painkiller and calamari and conch fritters for the table apps. Calamari were great, but conch fritters were not - too salty and undercooked. Our lunch dishes arrived - I had a shrimp poor boy with pasta salad, hubby had naked wings, and a neighbor had shrimp Greek salad. As you can see from the picture, my poor boy was overflowing with shrimp! Naked wings, however, came out breaded and very salty. When our waitress asked how our orders were, she said that the saltiness could be from what they were frying the food in. Came in for lunch. There was a short wait. Service was great. Had calamari which was nice and crispy and tasty. Then had the shrimp tocos. Very good. Also had a couple draft beers. Cold and refreshing. Great place on the water. Plenty of outdoor seating and a great view. read more

I stopped by for a late lunch - 2:30 - was told there was a wait for a table in the sun but the hostess found me a shady spot at the outside bar. I should have waited for the sunny table as there was cool wind blowing off the gulf which made sitting in the shady a bit chilly. I had the blackened grouper sandwich which was very good. Very tasty. For the price, there could have been more fries served with the sandwich. The bartender (she) did great job of managing the bar. I discovered one thing after having my first beer at the outside bar . Sam's has a Beer Board that I didn't see when I came in. it has a variety of craft beers BUT I was told by the outside bar bartender that those beers can't be served at the outdoor bar which limited what you can ask for Beerwise. Come On Sam's! If you can order food from the outdoor bar you should be able to order from you beer board. Will try it again some time when I am in the area. read more

I know it is Labor Day weekend in for Friday at noon they were super busy however the kitchen staff did an amazing job getting food out and presentation Waze it looks really good and it tasted really good. The Caesar salad was absolutely wonderful it was super cool the way they made it with bacon hard-boiled eggs onion petals a huge fresh tomatoes cut up and of course an amazing dressing on Romain leaves with a lot of grated Parmesan cheese. First time in a long time that they had a live band. It was so loud that even before checking in we left. We went across the street to Inn on the Gulf. I wanted a pizza, not 110 decibels of rock music. Sam's has been going downhill for the last couple of years. Walk across the street. Four stars better. read more

Was very disappointed this year, we come to Florida every winter and this was one of our favorite places to eat. But the menu shrunk and there wasn't much to choose from on the menu, I even asked our waiter if he'd given us the lunch menu by mistake. I doubt we will be coming back, we loved dining by the gulf and enjoying the sunset, but there just isn't enough food choices. read more

My friend and I went to Sam's last weekend to sit by the water to eat. Our food was decent and mid range in price. Our server Dean was great!!! He was super busy, but still took excellent care of us. The view is really beautiful. We enjoyed it for a few minutes and then it was down hill. People literally leaned over us to take photos of the sunset and their behinds hung over the table when they turned around. It was pretty frustrating. We were too close to the bar, so a few tables away would definitely be better. That would have helped our eardrums as well. The live band was cool, but then they turned the volume up sooooooo loud. IMO the restaurant should do something to separate the bar from the tables. We went out for dinner to catch up, not sit at a frat house. Will go back, but not on a Saturday. Plus, next time I'm going to bring a sweater. It got a bit chilly out there. I'm giving three stars because our server was good; the food, problems from the bar, and the ear piercing music would get one star. read more

Sams has had some serious issues with management and service. Recent review depicts all the issues but went there again knowing it was a crap shoot to show my sister a sunset on the water and was not disappointed at all. The staff informed us of new servers and new managers and best of all new standards. It showed as the place was poppin and the servers and the kitchen were on point and the friendliness of the place has improved greatly. The hostess needs some lessons on human decency. We went into Sam's to have a drink and the hostess said go ahead into the left. I don't think she noticed that my 90 year old friend who also happens to be a navy veteran was in a wheelchair. When we got around the corner we found that the bar only had bar height seating. Because there was no way for him to reach the bar, we looked around and found an empty table that was meant for 4 but only had 2 chairs. The waitress said it was okay to sit there. We went back to let the hostess know and we're meant with hostility. She said we couldn't sit there. I asked her how they accommodate handicapped people that just wanted a drink and she pointed to an area that was already occupied and said we could sit there. We had been here before a hand full of times and loved it! But this visit was not so great. Waited almost an hour and it was only 5pm. Went to the bar while we waited to get a drink and both the sangria and pina colada were watered down. When we were finally seated we placed our order right away and the waitress said it would be about 20 minutes. We finally got our food and it was cold as well as an underdone pizza(not edible). The waitress never came by to ask how the food was or never refilled our drinks. When she finally came around we showed her the pizza and she offered to get another one made. We've been coming to Sam's for many years now and always enjoy the direct Gulf of Mexico views. They've renovated the restaurant which if nice, but they have definitely down graded the menu and the quality of the food. I think you guys need to go back to the drawing board on on that. After seeing the Manatees, we stopped at Sam's on the advice of our tour guide Davis. He gave Great advice! I had a shrimp bucket with corn, sausage, potatoes and shrimp that was caught today! My daughter had a chicken sandwich and my son is law the burger. It was all excellent. They also made a kiddy burger just for us. If you're in the neighborhood give it a try. Never apologize or try to give us a discount or nothing . It was Presidents' Day on a Monday was slammed .... so I get waiting n all .. but show some compassion ... we just moved in the area .. so checking out new places to eat n work . Loved the outdoor seating option. Large tables and noisy enough that nobody cares when your kiddos perhaps get a little noisy. A definite good spot for families and couples alike. Ordered a normal plain burger here, they completely forgot my order. I had to ask if it was coming out soon. They forgot it so I ordered it again. By this time everyone was pretty much done with their food. They said they would give me a complimentary soup on them. So I got some soup. And then my burger came I asked for it to be medium done and it was completely over cooked. I don't ever care what food tastes like. Clearly cause I ordered the most basic thing on the menu. But I took one bite and told him I didn't like it tasted really bad and overcooked hard and crunchy. He says "we'll cover all of it don't worry" and he comes back and says I charged you for the clam chowder. I ended up paying $15 for a bowl of soup that was supposed to be on them. And didn't even get to have my burger cause it tasted like a party they had since last year. Terrible service here and they don't stuck by their word saying they will take care of it. My absolute favorite place and a must stop for sure! They are currently remodeling, which personally wasn't necessary but what do I know. By far the best view of the gulf.
