This was actually fine since the drinks didn't spill on us. However, the biggest issue was with the cacio e pepe. We specifically chose Spiga during our NYC vacation because this dish is advertised with a unique crushed Parmesan bowl, which was one of the main reasons we wanted to try it. However, when the dish arrived, the Parmesan bowl was missing. When I pointed this out, one server told me that the dish didn't come with it and that they had "changed the menu." I then had to get up from our table to find the hostess/server who seated us and took our order. She told me they had simply run out of the Parmesan bowl. The problem is that we were never informed when ordering that a significant, advertised component of the dish was unavailable, yet we were still expected to pay the full price. What was even more confusing was that she initially told me, "It's not on the menu, that's why we didn't mention it." However, the Parmesan bowl was clearly listed on both the online menu and the paper menu she had provided to us. We understand that restaurants can run out of ingredients, but customers should be told before ordering so they can decide whether they still want the dish. We specifically went out of our way to try this dish because of the Parmesan bowl, so receiving something different without being informed was understandably disappointing. What made the experience worse was that nothing was proactively offered to make up for the issue. She apologized and said she would speak to management, but that was it. We had to ask what could be done. She eventually offered to take the pasta away and not charge us for it, and said we could order something else. However, our main dishes had already taken quite a while to arrive despite the restaurant being nearly empty and it being past 9:30pm. We did not want to wait for another entree. I then had to ask if we could simply keep the pasta and not be charged for it if it was otherwise going to be thrown away. This was eventually agreed to, but again, it was something we had to ask for rather than an accommodation that was proactively offered. To make matters worse, the cacio e pepe wasn't even hot when it arrived, although thankfully our other pasta was. Overall, the issue wasn't simply that an ingredient was unavailable. It was the lack of communication, conflicting explanations, slow service, and lack of effort to address the disappointment. A simple heads-up when we ordered, along with a reasonable attempt to make things right, would have made a huge difference.

Felice has a beautiful, inviting atmosphere and is inspired by Tuscan cuisine. As the original Felice location, it has been around for more than 15 years and offers both comfortable indoor seating and a lovely outdoor dining area. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner before a fun evening of basketball, camaraderie, and cheering on the Knicks. My only issue is that it is a bit pricey. For that, I was glad I split the dish with my friend! The food, service, and ambiance all made for a terrific experience. Slightly funky along with fruity flavors without being sweet. We had khachapuri as the first course. Perfect ratio of bread to the cheese filling. Big notes of rich and creamy umami. Very cozy dish. Second course was the traditional lamb khinkali - four massive dumplings per order. The meat had the typical blend of black pepper and onions that's frequently used in Eastern European / west Asian dumplings. Again big on umami. Dumplings were very juicy without being messy. Final course was the chicken tabaka. Sauce was similar to a garlicky Alfredo. A garlic lovers delight. Make sure to bring some breath mints for afterwords Chicken was roasted to a slight crispyness.
