A waitress went by as we entered the restaurant, carrying a dish. It smelled amazing; ginger stir fry. I ordered it with shrimp and it was outstanding. My partner ordered a pizza, and it was huge and extremely tasty. My buddy ordered penne pasts and it was also awesome. If you travel to Hudson, this is a must stop! San Pedro Cafe recently added a new outside patio with beautiful pergolas + ceiling fans to enhance outside dining. You will feel like you are straight in the Caribbean with the music and top notch food. Pair your dinner (or start it) right with a mojito as there are fun flavors such as blueberry lemon, mango, and lavender. The wood fired pizzas are perfect and the nacho appetizer won't disappoint. Directly across the restaurant is the river adding the full "vacation" like vibe to the experience. In town visiting relatives over the 4th of July week and we needed a spot for dinner. They recommended this establishment and after consulting Yelp we called for a reservation. Well they only take call aheads. So when we arrived we were expected at least a 30 minute wait. In the end we waited maybe 10 minutes and were able to get an outside table. There outdoor area is very nice and according to the locals it has been upgraded from what they recalled. Two of us started with the Conch and Smoked Corn Chowder - it was different than what I was expecting but very good. This came out after a bit of a wait. Little did we know that our main courses would be at least another 30 minute wait - ouch! I ordered the Mole Chicken Enchiladas which were just OK - perhaps during the long wait I lost my appetite. Historically, this has been a decent place for a meal. That said, they appear to have peaked and dropped a bit. The service was pretty crappy. I have no idea if the guy was new or what. I asked repeatedly for a spoon to stir the coffee. After some unmet requests, I got up and found a server to help with some silverware. Turns out spoons are not included in the standard silverware assortment. So it required another trip to find a spoon. The menu: The menu has changed since I first started to come to this place. My opinion? Not for the better. I wound up ordering pizza. Always safe... sausage with mushrooms. Except no mushrooms were on the pizza. The other entree was a jerk chicken wrap. It was served with rice and black beans. The rice tasted like it had a healthy dose of nutmeg. I love nutmeg. But on Spanish rice? Probably not. The jerk chicken pretty much was just cubed up frozen chicken breasts in a creamy sauce of some sort that has as much in common with jerk seasoning as does Donald Trump with natural skin tone. The service times were pretty slow, but that had almost entire everything to do with staffing levels relative to kitchen velocity. They did the best that they could. All things considered, it was slow, with mediocre food, a screwed up order, and some of the worst service I've had in a restaurant in a long time. We came to this place on a weekday evening around 8:30 pm. I was craving Jamaican food and this was the closest open restaurant that seemed to serve it near Stillwater, MN. It was packed! We were seated within a few minutes on the patio where the mosquitoes proceeded with their meal (us). Our server was a young lady who spent more time chatting with her friends at the table next to us than actually taking our order. I ordered The "golden margarita" it was meh. It tasted mostly like salt. When I told the server that, she took it back and said the bartender added more of the mixer that they use but then it was then tart. This place is great located in downtown Hudson. Parking is ok depending on what time you go. You do have to pay for parking which is the situation for most downtown Hudson establishments. They have heated patio, bar and indoor sitting . Food was amazing a lot of favors. I got the blacken fish tacos. They are Really good. When we walked in today, for the first time, the feeling was very warm and almost exotic. We were seated immediately and called "friends" the entire time! That was nice, made us feel welcome! I ordered a coffee and my husband just a water, so nothing to comment on fancy beverages they have available! For brunch, my husband chose the brunch enchiladas and I chose the Island Omelet. I'm so stuffed I can hardly write a review. We shared a very cheesy starter- lobster and shrimp Rasta. It was more cheesy and less seafood, but good. It was served with fresh made pita bread. We know it was fresh because we sat at the kitchen bar. We were fascinated by watching the chef's prepare all the meals. They use a huge wood burning oven, a regular looking oven and a stove top. San Pedro Cafe just entered my top 5 restaurant from St Paul to Hudson after last night's dinner!! It was Friday night so of course they were busy, we got a spot at the bar right away. The ladies behind bar were awesome and worked as a team, I'm not sure which one was our actual bartender because they both took care of so like we we the only ones sitting there and the place was busy. They helped us with menu choices and I think it's possible they were the two best items on the menu. I will have to come back to San Pedro and try other items on the menu to verify my claim. We visited San Pedro Cafe for dinner on a Saturday evening, so definitely busy, but we used their wait list option on their website, so it worked out well. We were seated in a timely manner and service was attentive and friendly. One order of blackened fish tacos, one order of adobo ribs, and one order of ropa vieja. The ribs were great, but the other two plates were just so-so. Additionally, the ribs and ropa vieja were supposed to come with a salad and bread, but unfortunately never showed up. When we asked our waitress about it after finishing our meals, she offered to box them up so we could take them to go; of course we weren't interested. All-in-all, I'm inclined to give San Pedro another try, but certainly hoping for something more next time around. read more

Met my family for lunch here and thought it was just okay. The menu kind of seems all over the place and shows with the food quality. I had the shrimp Pad Thai special which I probably wouldn't get again because I thought it was very sweet and quite expensive. The best thing we're the mussels from the appetizers, pictured below. This local spot is one of our favorite restaurants. The menu is so unique and everything is fresh and just... special. My all-time favorite meal here is the Cuban meatloaf with banana mashed potatoes. Don't question it. I hate to have to write this review, but I do. San Pedro's used to be one of my favorite places to eat in all of the metro, but sadly things have declined in a big way. The last three times we've eaten here the what used to be top level service has been terrible. Long waits to get water and waited on, longer waits for food...and worse, the food is just not good anymore. And to top it off, every visit is met with at least a 10-20 minute wait to get the bill and have it returned. Today we went for breakfast, which used to be my favorite place in Hudson for the meal, and nothing was even close to good. We got the breakfast enchilada and chorizo omelette. Both were supremely over cooked with hard rubbery eggs, chewy "jerk" chicken, and "chorizo" which was sparse in the omelette at best and like dry chunks of dog food. And the sauces, *sigh* if you're going to serve double sauces on a dish please actually taste them. Both the chipotle sauce and ranch sauce were bitter and bland. They ruined both dishes. I am totally empathetic to how hard it is to find service help these days, as well as the demand this formerly great Hudson staple restaurant is always under. But in the last year it just doesn't work, the food is always underwhelming compared to the previous high standard they set for themselves, and the service (which always used to be the saving grace) has deteriorated rapidly. And Please in gods name, don't serve eggs if you can't cook them appropriately. I've had better "eggs" in a buffet line. The headshaker in all of this is Pedro Del Este, San Pedro's sister joint, always performs and always has great food. So it's hard to blame lack of employable talent on this issue, and maybe San Pedro's has just lost its interest in keeping up its high standards since the people stream in no matter what. There's no arguing the atmosphere is great and the patio is one of the best in the Midwest. We will continue to drop by and test the waters from time to time because I really want San Pedro's to find its way again, but the chances are getting slimmer and slimmer for them to come through. read more

My fiancée and I are HUGE foodies and this place is now at the top of our absolute favorite places to go! The atmosphere is wonderful (especially during warmer months for dining outdoors), and for starters, their Bahama Mamas are absolutely delicious! Then for appetizers, ordered the nachos, and yes I understand nachos sound not so exciting, but they are the best nachos we've ever had! You don't have a chip sitting alone with nothing on it! Great spot to switch things up for brunch. We were planning to hike in Wisconsin (drove from the Twin Cities) and decided to try this place out because of the reviews and location. We ordered an alfredo pizza to share. It had shrimp and lobster on it as well as cilantro so how could I not like it? I got the breakfast quesadilla and it so large and had a crispy shell. Loved the price too ($10). My boyfriend and friend both got omelets and they loved them. Came with rice and beans too. Overall, a great spot. What an amazing place. It was late on a Sunday evening, and we were hungry after a full-day canoe adventure. Earlier we had driven by and I knew I wanted to check San Pedro out, so I was very excited to learn they were open so late. We ordered the Kamayan feast for two and I was so happy I almost cried.
