I got huevos rancheros tonight, and I don't even prefer huevos rancheros usually. It was so good, husband got 5 tacos for taco Thursday (1.25/taco) and daughter loved a kids quesadilla w rice and beans. For drinks, Agua de Jamaica, horchata and Mexican coke and fresh hot churros for dessert. Everything here is 100% amazing, fresh, and authentic. Update: I just had their carnitas enchilada and Agua de piña. Again I don't usually order enchiladas but these were so perfect. Thick corn tortillas hold up well smothered in spicy green chile. Sancho's Authentic Mexican tasted amazing. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because It was a bit of a challenge finding it with GPS. It actually takes you to back of the little mall it is located in... if you drive around to the other side you will find the front. I always judge a restaurant by their chips and guacamole. They were fantastic nice and thick chips with yummy guacamole.:) I had the pork and cactus corn wrap which had a great flavor. My son had a combo plate with plenty of food. Again, the tamale, enchilada and lengua were tasty. We're from Central California where there is a Mexican restaurant or taco truck at every corner. This is the closest we've tasted so far in Boulder. He lives here now. I'm sure my son will be back! read more

You could go to Three Margaritas - it's the other side of the parking lot. Came for lunch with my co-workers and we had a great time. I got the carnitas enchiladas, and for $12, they were a great lunch. Just the right portion and very tasty. It's cheap, it's authentic, it's absolutely delicious! Went on a night with live music and our kids LOVED dancing in the plaza. Portions are generous for the price, I always end up ordering too much food. I think the best indicator of the place is we brought my eats-like-a-bird grandma here because she has traveled in Mexico a lot and loves poblano chiles. We visited Colorado this last weekend for a wedding and we tried some local restaurants near by, Sanchos was one of them. I loved the atmosphere and everyone was really friendly. We had the queso dip which was delicious and a steak quesadilla which was also great! I will definitely come back next time I visit the area! read more

I went into Sancho's today to grab lunch, as my office is in the neighborhood (I'm sure they get lots of business from the local businesses). I ordered a burrito with barbacoa. I am a bit of a Mexican food snob - some of the best Mexican food I've ever had was in El Paso, Texas, and I know that's a tough comparison to make up here in Colorado, but I have been able to find some places here and there that are comparable to what I've had in El Paso. This place isn't it. The barbacoa in my burrito was over seasoned and over cooked. It looks as though they put red chili flakes in it, which I thought was a little odd. I'd never come across barbacoa cooked that way. So, that was disappointing. The burrito was smothered in what was supposed to be green chili, but was actually red and the flavor was a little off putting. The guac that the burrito came with was good though. It wasn't that the burrito was inedible. It just wasn't my taste at all and for $10, I expect so much more. I'll likely go back and try something else. But I'll be steering clear of the burritos and "green" chili from here on out. read more

First time stopping in this hidden restaurant. They are getting ready to change locations August 24 so after that date they will be on Gunpark Dr. I ordered the Asada tacos, beans and rice. My friend ordered the smothered burrito with asada. Both meals were good. The rice lacked a little flavor. My tacos were good, but the steak was a little greasy. It pretty much saturated the corn tortilla. There's only chopped onions and cilantro on the tacos and had I asked and known, I would have asked for some cheese and/or guacamole. My friend enjoyed his burrito and cleaned his entire plate. I tried the sauce that covered his burrito and it had a gel looking appearance to it. I wasn't a fan of the red sauce with the green chili's. Didn't really look super clean to me but it was clean enough. I would give it another try and next time get the enchiladas. read more

Don't be fooled by the divey location and atmosphere, this place is for real! Excellent and authentic Mexican food coupled with affordable prices and a terrific salsa bar. My son and I both ordered enchiladas. I had the Carnitas version and he had chicken and cheese. We were both happy with those choices. The carnitas was tender and the sauce perfectly spiced. We paired this with their amazing homemade chips and salsa which were good enough that I bought a bag to take home. Tried this place at it's old location and had a great experience. Went there with family today in Gunbarrel and was very disappointed. The guy at the register who seemed to be the owner, manager or some leadership position snapped at me "to be patient" when I considered changing my order and he thought I was putting down the new employee who fumbled a bit at the register. Maybe it was just a bad day for him but as a paying customer he seemed miserable. I believe he is affiliated with the Spanish Institute in Boulder as well for I remember seeing him there when I took a class and he was wearing their shirt. He may consider different attire to save a poor impression on two businesses. All of that was followed by cold food and enchiladas around the table that didn't even have melted cheese. The staff are very disengaged and rude. The guy who took our order was vacant of any normal human interaction you would expect in the restaurant industry. The guy who dropped our food off did just that, dropped our food off and took off. The restaurant was not busy so that cannot be the excuse for this poor customer service. The design of fast casual where you order food is very cramped. If the restaurant wants to do fast casual the prices need to reflect that type of service. The food quality is a C-. I can deal with average Mexican food BUT will not return based on how your staff treats your customers. No excuses. read more

This is by far the most authentic Mexican place in boulder. It's so good I moan out loud every time I take a bite of the beef tounge taco.

I go to Sancho's occasionally, I work in the area and it's a good change to the sandwiches but nothing there is really that good. The one saving grace for me WAS the aquacado burrito. I love it, well used to. The last time the last one I got the shredded beef was so burnt and over cooked it was kind of gross to eat but I was at work and didn't have other options. I tried again today and got another burrito with shredded beef I checked it before I left because sometimes they forget the guacamole and sour cream and it looked fine. They put chicarone in it instead. I don't like fried pork skins, at all. I had to pick around all the meat. Definitely won't be back, which is a shame and will not recommend either . read more

"Authentic Mexican Food"...I can easily say this is farthest from 'authentic'. I was born and raised in California, as well as a frequent traveler to Mexico since I was in pampers, you could say Mexican food is my stable when it comes to meals. I have to come out to CO for business and the one thing always lacking was good Mexican food. Finally with all my misses I turned to Yelp and this place had amazing reviews across the board-- say for the few. With that being said I left there questioning the people of Colorados taste. Being as careful as I am with new food I ordered THE SIMPLEST food any Mexican place can provide-- A California Burrito with chips and guacamole + a bottle coke. My lunch companion being more "adventurous" ordered the Chili Rellano and two tacos to share; one chorizo, one pastor. To start the California Burrito was trash, it was dry, falling apart, and frankly all French fries. I couldn't find the meat! The Chili Rellano was greasy, had no substance to it, and tasted like they haven't cleaned their dishes. The taco El pastor was passable at best, and the Chorizo tasted like I took a swig of pure smoke extract. As for the chips and guacamole, I will never know they WERE NEVER SERVED. When my friend tried to return/exchange her meal the very rude cashier laughed at her and said "Oh well." We left this establishment disappointed yet again by another "Authentic Mexican Food" place. Not only was this place laughable as Mexican food but it is the WORST I have had. I am far from a food snob, you could say I eat almost anything. This, this was saddening to the point I actually felt compelled to leave a review. Save your money and go to Taco Bell-- it would taste the same and probably better service. read more
