If I could give Sandomi 3.5 stars I would. I know this is a newer establishment so I am sure they have to work out some kinks. There were only two people working and a steady flow of orders. You order by computer at the front so those two staff members were both making food. I ordered the chicken sando, having been to Japan I had a certain expectation. There was way too much slaw on it and since the bread is so moist it made the sandwich fall apart, it was a mess. Also, I took a few bites and the texture of the chicken felt off, almost like it was not cooked all the way through. I looked at it under the horrible lighting in Edgewater Public Market, didn't see any pink meat but the texture was unappetizing. My husband got the lemongrass beef sandwich and said it was good but not impressive. We did get the gyozas as an app, those were phenomenal! I could have eaten two more orders of those with the sweet and savory dipping sauce they came with. I would like to try their various matcha drinks. There were quite a few matcha drinks being made, and I love matcha!

We had a large variety of items throughout the menu and not one disappointed. The Matcha Tiramisu was fabulous. I'm not usually a fan of tiramisu so I am grateful I was convinced.

The vibe here is of a japanese izakaya, though not a super traditional one, with sake bombs and everything. That said, the food is definitely on the pricier side, though extremely delicious. My typical go to is on of the salad. Now salads typically are not standout at most restaurants, but the ones at Kawa Ni just hits different. Both the red cabbage and pear salad and the brocolli salad are delicious and the portion is massive, easily enough for a table of 4 to share. For apps and shareable entrees, you can't go wrong here. The build your own tuna temaki hand rolls can easily be shared and the tuna is so fresh and well seasoned. The szechuan dumplings are delicious, as is the curry onigiri and the bao bun. The Dan Dan noodle, kimchi Carbonara, and their tonkotsu ramen are also amazing, and, with the exception of the tonkotsu ramen, can easily be shared. I would highly recommend other seasonal dishes as well, such as the coconut swordfish or chicken katsu parm. However, one of my absolute favorite dish here is the ochazuke. It's basically grilled fish over rice in a warm green tea dashi. It's so comforting, especially on a cold night, and a dish that I return to time and time again. Overall, Kawa Ni is an amazing japanese restaurant. Come for the food and just make sure you get a sake bomb and ask for the gong when you do.

The noodles had a good chew, the broth is not too salty and creamy.... The toppings were delicious w good amount of spinach and menma, the poached egg runny - everyone was perfect for the ramen. I wished the pork/charsiu were sliced slightly thicker. It was nicely torch-seared. Service was decent, it is a self service restaurant for the most part, you order and they bring it to your table. The takoyaki was not freshly made but it had a crunch. The best part was their chicken karaage, such fluffy and airy coating and so nicely fried. Typically I'm used to a jammy soft boiled egg but those can be hard to make right and take more time to peel the shells. I do think the poached egg was tasty but an easy way out for a ramen shop. Def shocked that they were quite good in a strip mall, but I might have judged the book cover. Wished they had some cold beer or hot sake to go with the karaage for sure, I would never leave.

First thing I noticed is that it's very clean and the decor is very pleasing to the eye. The menu is extensive and finely detailed. It was really hard to narrow down the choices to just a few. The miso soup was first rate. One of the better I've ever had. Our sushi came out about ten minutes after we ordered it and it was fresh, well plated and absolutely yummy. Our server was friendly and efficient. Our drinks were never dry and he knew the menu well. Parking was easy and it's a nice area of town. The only reason this wasn't a five star review is I felt the person that was allowed to sleep across the chairs in the very front of the dining room was tacky. It really took away from the overall ambiance and my eyes just couldn't stop being drawn to the situation.

Wife ordered the Miso Black Cod which she really enjoyed. Reminded her of the Miso Butterfish we loved in Hawaii. Perfectly cooked with a nice char, delicious! We added on an order of the Crispy Calamari which was nicely prepared, not overly battered, each bite was tender and crispy. The main reason for our visit though was the sushi and I ordered the 7 different nigiri sushi. Their fish was very fresh, and the fish to rice ratio was perfect. My favorites usually are the Saba, Unagi, and Ikrua. Each were very good and we left happy and full! One server was working on this weekend lunch but she was quick and service was perfect. The restaurant itself was nice, clean, felt very open and easily accessible. Definitely on our list to return when we are in the area!

I saw, from the reviews, that to come here without a reservation, you want to come right when they open. We saw a wave of people start lining up and congregating as we were parking. Luckily, we made it in the first wave of people seated. We were offered the choice to sit inside/outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks and food came out quickly. We ordered the sake and the sake mule. Both were good! We also got 2 pieces of nigiri from Japan and it was heavenly! Other items that piqued our interest were the tuna firecracker roll, a salmon roll, and another tuna roll. Everything tasted delicious, although I was surprised by the asparagus in my rolls. I don't know that that is my favorite! We had a great experience and would love to come back.
