I've been coming to this place since the 2000's when it was Tink A Tako and I was skipping school lunch to get bean and cheese and fajita tacos. It's now Sandra's where it seems to be not as student oriented and more family oriented. The food has also changed. It's OKAY for Mexican food. Nothing spectacular at all, we mainly came for the convenience. I ordered a barbacoa taco (it literally came sitting in grease.) I don't like to send food back at all, but literally after soaking three paper towels in grease, it was STILL dripping with grease. I sent it back and received a new one. My bean and cheese taco was okay. The customer service was not good. Our waitress was friendly but didn't even introduce herself. The cashier was so rude, didn't make eye contact, and made it seem like cashing us out was an inconvenience to her day. Do I recommend this restaurant, NOPE. read more

My mom use to work here she said the workers are always lazy and they have rats and there tea Taste like plastic but there is good not just good I they spend money for there place to look good but once a man found a whole pill in his food!!!! The food was authentic and delicious. The servers were very sweet and attentive. The prices were very reasonable. The restaurant was clean. Not sure what else you could ask for! Like everyone else has said, the food was pretty bland. Even the spicy sauce wasn't....spicy. We got the Carlos plates (chicken and beef for the tacos). The cheese enchiladas had flavor- I'm legitimately giving 4 stars because the entire place was actually really clean and I got an extra crispy tripas taco on the side that had really good flavor and I'm picky on tripas (they didn't give me any onions or cilantro though ). The food was ok my issue is that as a new mom they have no changing table in the restroom. If you have a diaper aged child I wouldn't recommend. It was 45 degrees outside and to make my child comfortable I had to go to the car to change him. Adding a changing table would be a very smart idea. read more

I've given this place a few tries. I've had egg shells in my burnt potato and egg taco no flavor whatsoever so I just tossed it. I had the flu so I thought I would get me a chicken caldo to help with my fever, let me tell you!! It was the most disgusting caldo I've ever had!!! No flavor!!! The chicken was bland and the carrots and potatoes were so raw I couldn't even bite into any of them! I miss when this place was Tink A Taco back in the early 2000s. Ive been coming since I was in high school but I guess after they brought in new management they ran the place down. I just went thru the drive thru and ordered 4 tacos....2 bean and cheese with bacon, regular bean and cheese and a carne guisada with cheese. My bean and cheese w bacon didn't have cheese....neither did my regular bean and cheese. My carne guisada was cold and also without cheese. When I paid It came out to $13 and I paid with a $15, the lady at the window gave me 50 cents...I called when I got home and they basically called me a liar and said that they did give me all my change back. read more

I was excited to see someone give a face lift to my once beloved (but always disgusting, let's be honest) Tink-A-Taco. This place was the go-to place for Betty Boop overkill and questionable health code standards. And then one day, it closed down out of no where, and stayed closed for years. When the new owners came in, I was excited to see what a great job they were doing with the renovations. When I stepped inside, I couldn't believe it was ever the restaurant it was before. The decor is beautiful, but unfortunately it didn't distract from the ridiculous amount of flies that nagged us the entire meal. I've never seen anything like it before! They were ALL OVER the entrance way, and everywhere inside. Isn't there something they can do about that? The food itself was fine. There was nothing to complain about, but nothing that stuck out so much that I would give you a suggestion on an order. What did stick out? The lack of ice in my drink, the humidity that felt trapped inside, and the definite overprice of bland everyday Mexican food. I'll take an extra scoop of lard in my refried beans if it means I can actually taste them. Thank you for cleaning up my childhood Tink-A-Taco...but now it's time to spice it up too! read more

Service and atmosphere is excellent, however the food is very bland. The salsa had no spice, and the enchiladas were...tasteless. Their tortillas are nice and fluffy, and refried beans were good but still were somehow lacking a certain element. Overall, this place is mediocre. If I ever come back, it will be a passive result of following another's choice to come here. This may be on a back road of South Bexar County, but this is not a good representation of authentic Mexican cuisine. When the pale white Irish girl is calling your food bland and asking for more spice, you seriously need to step up your game. read more

Menudo is a big no no! Obviously it was not fresh and tasted old and salty :( the chicken enchilada was good but the salad had no topping or dressing and the refried beans had to be from a can. Mediocre at best. Lack of seasoning in tortilla soup and a rather odd taste in carne guisada plate did little to offset poor service. Puffy tacos were the best item we got but then when my better half took granddaughter to bathroom over anxious busboy took her plate before she finished. read more

My husband and I come here every time we visit Home. The food is always fresh- whether it be the HUGE breakfast tacos, or the big ole pancake breakfast plate (or huevos rancheros), we always leave full and happy. Just wish it was open longer! 2pm!? This place has been the top choice for my family, and I, when we want somewhere close by. There are seriously very few mexican restaurants nearby that are actually decent. Yea, there are always better restaurants and yes, they have days where the food doesn't taste as great as the other days have. The food here is very good. However, I called in an order at 10:24 this morning and was told it would be ready in ten minutes. I drove over and went to the drive thru window. It was 10:35. I waited another ten minutes for my food. When I payed the cashier said 7.12. I payed and he gave me 11 and change back. Before the window closed I said excuse me but he didn't bother to turn around. When he finally came back with my tacos I questioned the change and he said oh yeah, I owe you 1.35. How much money does he make off that window?! read more

We love this place. The food is always great when we go there and the atmosphere is laid back. Everyone there is very helpful and nice. I love breakfast and the machacado there is awesome. I have only eaten lunch there one or two times and it was extremely good. I am so glad I found this place as it is easy for me to get to and it has a country area feel to it. The decor it is awesome, very neat, it looks like they did spent MUCHO $$$, but the food does taste like taco bell, it really does, and if you order it, they take about the same time as they do in Taco Bell. The service it is good, evethough it is a highway business, in a Spanish Speaking area, the waitress do not speak Spanish!!! I guess my relatives will not be visiting this place in the near future.
