One additional surprise was being charged $2 for hot water with lemon. As someone who does not drink iced water, I often order hot water with lemon and have never been charged for it before. On a lunch bill approaching $150, that charge felt unnecessary and a little unwelcoming. It certainly wasn't about the $2 itself, but rather the principle of it. That said, the food and overall experience were excellent. I would not take any stars away because this place is truly a gem with delicious food, gorgeous views, and a welcoming outdoor dining area for guests with dogs. Highly recommended, especially for visitors looking for a memorable waterfront dining experience in Sausalito.

Everything was very delicious with my only concern was wishing the cod had a little more flavor. To me it tasted a little plain but everything else was amazing. For the cost, the portions were not huge, so it as a very light lunch. No matter, there were plenty of ice cream shops nearby for a dessert topper! It was nice that they gave us carbonated water for the table at no extra charge; most restaurants only offer still water. Service was a bit slow, but we were in no hurry, so it was fine. Good customer service is about communication and respect for your customers' time. A quick update could have made a big difference. I hope the restaurant improves how they handle situations like this and works more closely with Grubhub to keep customers informed.

I am a pizza enthusiast, and more in general a fan of fine Italian food, and I must say that San Drino offers one of the best ones I have ever tried in the Bay Area and beyond. The crust is thin, light and crispy, the ingredients are excellent, imported from Italy to give your dish that authentic taste (try the mouthwatering prosciutto crudo or the buffalo mozzarella). You can tell that the owner takes great pride in the food he prepares. The wine list is perfect, combining Italian and California wines, which the owner recommends with expertise depending on what you order. Desserts are home made and delicious (I've tried the Tiramisu and the flan, my favorite). The place is cozy, with an outstanding decor and attention to detail, the music is also fantastic (I'm a Brazilian jazz lover). But most importantly, the owner Alessandro, who is Italian, is an incredibly nice guy, he always welcomes everybody with a smile no matter how busy he is, not just like you would greet customers, but more like friends and family, and he makes you feel at home from the moment you step in. I've been to this place 3 or 4 times already, and I never get tired even though I live in the City and I have the extra drive and bridge toll. We were driving back home from a long day and decided to search for a pizzeria once we crossed the golden gate bridge, this little and very warming restaurant is absolutely adorable and a great place for dinner, lovely customer service and lovely owners, my girls and I really enjoyed our pizza (Margherita & Pepperoni). Sandrino is true Italian food and I suggest anyone who's looking for Italian food stops in here. Pizza is so good here. The dough is thin, crust super crunchy and slightly toasted and the toppings are fresh and tasty. The restaurant is run by a nice Italian couple who took time to answer any questions we had. They are very welcoming and very helpful with the menu. If you are in Sausalito area you must try Sandrino. read more

Funny fact ~ we arrived without reservation and were asked if we would mind if we could please finish our dinner within 2 hours as our table had a booked reservation...we of course agreed and thought it was very professional to let us know instead of turning us away. The food came out hot, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish felt thoughtful and well executed. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance: classy and cozy, but still lively and fun. It feels special without feeling stuffy. I want to sit in bar area next time. Such a great overall experience. We'll absolutely be back.

The veal was tender and pasta had ok pesto. Nothing special. Maybe make the pesto at the table?! Wine by glass ok. If chef is into being Italian, even if he is not culturally, really give us the tastes of the region he loves and forget the bland, boring.

I have a similar reaction to La Ginestra. I've come to La Ginestra multiple times, always in advance of a nearby show, for a cocktail or a glass of wine. Usually there's some food ordered to accompany the drinks. Most recently, meatballs and a Margarita pizza were shared between two of us, with neither of us making a single remark about the food either during or after consuming it. It was as good as it needed to be, no more-no less. A 3-star review, every avid yelper will tell you, is the most difficult to pen. Indeed, that is because it generally is a shoulder-shrug. I'm certain I'll come back to La Ginestra for drinks and might actually be the one recommending it. I'll probably also have something small to eat as an accompaniment but only because I'm already here drinking. I do observe that they do a solid restaurant business (I've only ever sat in the room that shares space with the bar) which says something, given the plethora of Italian restaurants in Marin. Based though on the food I've sampled? If I were actually choosing a restaurant to dine at - as opposed to a restaurant to drink at - I've not had anything here that would cause me to choose La Ginestra above even any of the other restaurants near to it.

The service was warm and the menu had so many great options. We kicked things off with the burrata (always a winner) and the minestrone soup. No complaints so far -- we were excited for the mains. I ordered the special rigatoni with sausage in an alla vodka sauce, and the mister went with the classic spaghetti carbonara. Both dishes were a hit! If you're ever in the area, La Ginestra is definitely worth a stop.

You honestly can't go wrong with any pie. They don't take reservations and it's hard to find on your first visit. They are located upstairs above Vin (wine bar) and you can enter from 4th St or from their back entrance. A few words in and a glance at some pics, I was sold. Here's where my next pizza is coming from. Shot out a quick text to my buddy in SF and eagerly awaited 5:00 PM opening time. I love pizza. It's kind of the perfect food for me. I could eat it every day. I'm somewhat of a pizza stalker, (arrest me) and this is as good as it gets. We shared a MARGHERITA pizza. Tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil. My buddy had a beautiful large portion HOUSE CAESAR. Little gems, anchovy, lemon, breadcrumbs, parmigiano, reggiano. I was so pleased that I returned a couple hours later with my wife and we had a delicious mushroom pizza.. Great "speakeasy vibe" with expert, classy interior design/decorating work. Truly a jewel in downtown San Rafael which definitely needs something to sparkle. And, it is located above top-notch restaurant, Vin Antico on fourth Street.
