Attended a private dinner meeting last week. Staff and food were very good seem like a great place for a summer hangout

We've been to Sandy Point Beach House many times to celebrate birthdays with my parents and for New Year's Eve last year. Our reservation time has always been promptly honored and the staff have been attentive even during the busy holiday season. The beet salad is amazing, practically a meal in itself! My husband always orders it and I always steal a bite. I wish they offered a smaller version of it on the menu! The scallop features vary by night and are expertly cooked when I've ordered it. We usually opt for the salmon or scallops. The menu varies slightly from season to season to account for what's in season for local produce. We've never had a bad meal at SPBH! read more

We came for brunch on a beautiful Saturday morning. They accepted a reservation, but it was not really necessary, as the place was not busy until after12 noon. There is plenty of outdoor seating under tents and it felt Covid-comfortable in all ways: we could distance from other tables and within our party, staff wore masks(correctly) silverware was wrapped, etc. I had the BLT, which was fresh and good. The bacon was thicker than I like and so, when cooked crispy, was tough to chew and rather sharp, instead of crunchy. The chips were fresh and crispy, and came with a dipping sauce (Russian dressing?) and catsup. The unsweetened iced tea was good. Service was very good. Copious parking. Nothing knocked my socks off or made me want to return the next day, however. It would be good for large groups of families with children. read more

Went for a quick lunch. Hour and 30 minutes later still no lunch served. (Not really lunch hour at 130pm) Mind you we ordered 2 salads and a wrap within the first 30 mins of sitting down. The table next to us ordered 15mins after us and got their food first. When we asked about that we were told by our server with an attitude that they've been slammed since they have been open. While we only saw 5 tables with people at them while we were there. And only one large 6 person party. Food finally came out cold. Great outdoor area and usually great food. We had a reservation and we were seated outside. Beautiful atmosphere with wonderful music playing. We had the Cajun Shrimp Fritters and the Pierogies as an appetizer. They were both so so delicious. I had a panic attack before we ordered dinner and our server SOPHIA was absolutely amazing. Very kind, thoughtful, and encouraging. I was there for my birthday and she even offered me to take a dessert home. She made an uncomfortable situation easier, and I will be back when we visit again next week because the food was yummy and the staff is great! read more

Sandy Point is great, I'm just so sad that the weekend I visited was a dreary and rainy one, because I would've loved to sit outside! As a visitor from the city of Chicago, I was surprised to find how many places in this area *do not* serve alcohol during breakfast and brunch hours, but that's part of the charm of taking a trip to a new town, I suppose! I couldn't find much information online about their drinks, so I called to ask, and the girl on the phone cheerfully said "yes, we serve alcohol for breakfast!" Hopefully my review is a little helpful for those visiting and looking for a brunch drink! ;) On this particular Saturday morning, we were so pleased to see how adorable Sandy Point looked, even in the dreary and foggy weather. It is truly beachy inside and out, with a lot of parking space, patio seating, and natural light inside as well. They've got a great brunch menu, and I went with a mimosa and the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes. I'm a big Benedict fan, and was expecting this to be one of the best Bennies, because I love crab cakes a lot. The combination, in theory, sounds insanely great! Unfortunately, these didn't come with any hollandaise (which is totally my mistake for not catching that on the menu) but that's one of the best parts of the meal, so I missed having it. The side salad was a nice touch, though! My boyfriend ordered the same thing but with a side of their bacon, and they make their bacon in a unique way here. He absolutely loved it and said it was the best bacon he's ever had. I'll definitely try to visit again the next time I'm in town, because I loved the ambience and their menu has SO many great options that I'm dying to try. My husband had the scallops and I the full rack of ribs. My ribs came with parmigiana fries and grilled asparagus. A wonderful drink of cherry brandy, homemade lemonade and topped with a brandied cherry. A must try! read more

Had my husband's birthday dinner here with a couple friends and everything was delicious. Blood orange margaritas were perfect, martinis were extra dirty, appetizer was awesome, husband's steak was cooked perfectly, my mussels were amazing, paella awesome, and etouffee was delicious. Carrot cake was just okay, but that's only because I make a carrot cake myself that cannot be compared to in my husband's opinion. Sadly, the buffet on Easter Sunday was very disappointing. For $38 pp, we expected quality food. The "hot" dishes were cold. The prime rib was rare. The ham was brown. I could go on, but it's not necessary. It seems that the kitchen was overwhelmed. read more

Will never return! 7:30 on a Saturday night...walk in 15 minutes ago and ask to sit at the half-empty bar. Hostess says, "Sorry, we aren't taking walk-ins. The bar is closed.!We are just too busy." My husband and I are dumfounded. Say what? How is a half-empty restaurant and bar closed on a Saturday before 8? You people either don't know how to run a restaurant well enough to support a midkeSaturday night crowd or you're just completely crazy turning people away from even having a drink at the bar. I've traveled the world and have not ounce been turned away to have a drink at a bar before 8 on a Saturday. Poor showing puts it mildly. Full circle, we will NEVER return! UPDATE: Never say never! Glad I gave it another chance. I have seen a solid turn-around at Sandy Point in terms of service. Have been there twice for cocktails at the outdoor bar and twice for dinner. Service has been better. Once we lost our waitress for a long time, but otherwise it's been reliable, friendly and attentive. I can also report that the apps and entrees are fresh and well-prepared. Would definitely like to try some different things. On a minor downside, we once got dessert because it was someone's birthday -- blueberry crumble was cold and pineapple cake was dry and crumbly. Sandy Point is really good in the most important areas, so my friends, husband and I will all be returning to continue to explore their menu. read more

2 Stars is favorable. Let me start by saying the place was not busy. Waited 2 hours for food. Had to ask if they could at least bring the kids food out as they were starving at this point. Which resulted in a plate being literally dropped in front of my daughter with a burnt kids pizza on it. I thought the server accidentally dropped it because it was hot or something until he slammed my sons plate down in front of him even harder. My wife immediately went to go talk to a manager. While she was gone our food was brought out were the server totally lost it. He started name calling and left our food on the deck railing and walked off. The server was let go that night. Crazy course of events. Manager gave us a new server now 2.5 hours into our night and offered a free desert and a gift card for 15- 20% off the bill... We had people in the group feeling uncomfortable eating their food as they didn't trust the server at this point. They were simply given a to go box. For a place that serves $30-40 plates I would have expected a different response from the manager. read more

Pierogis were the best part of the meal. Chicken Caesar was served on a small appetizer plate with burnt chicken, the plate size made it impossible to cut up the romaine halves and chicken without it making a huge mess. Skip the watery corn soup. So many better options in the area. Service was slow as well and the restaurant was rather loud. read more

First and second time dining here. Went twice in a matter of a week to see if things would change. The drinks (alcoholic) were fantastic and I would definitely go back again for those! The food was not on par with the price point. The steak and frites, Ny strip, and hamburger we ordered were all almost well done when ordered med rare. The halibut was also over cooked and dry. I understand the increase in price of the meat because of supply and demand right now. I am looking forward to dining here again once COVID is over. read more

First the meatballs app was fantastic and probably should of got the pasta plus meatballs as an entree. Instead I went for the Budda Bowl and Ahi. It was pretty good. Menu is wide ranging and prices also vary to fit every budget. Cool outdoor area and live music Thursday - Sunday. read more

Casual atmosphere with truly fine dining. The bacon wrapped dates, Italian meatballs, strawberry/walnut/goat cheese salad with added salmon filet, and apple rum cake all were excellent. Great selection of hand-crafted cocktails as well as wines by the glass and bottle. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend. read more

My visit today with my daughter was disappointing . Early dinner basically reveals they are not graceful transitioning to dinner service . Slow or no response initially when I was seated . When I indicated a need to be recognized & get a water the first waitress was borderline rude with a kind of " why are you bothering me attitude . Food was mediocre , salmon was pretty good but lime rice was cold & tasteless , seemed like it was old or leftover . My daughter said her fish tacos were "OK " . Just in general a ho hum kind of this cost me a hundred bucks with no alcohol ? Geeez I will. not be back soon read more

Went with a party of 8 and was told that we couldn't be sat at all due to a party of 15 coming. We asked if it would be fine to have two tables of 4 and they shared that it would overwhelm their kitchen. Wouldn't have been as upset however they seated the party of 6 that came in after us. Appeared to be due to our party having children and the party of 6 did not. The whole situation was confusing due to the restaurant looking quite empty. Beautiful setting near the lake. The service was very good and the food hit the spot nicely! Our French dip sandwich came well prepared and the bun was incredible fresh. Started with a great seafood chowder in a very think broth. Lunch was accompanied by a refreshing mimosa as well. First visit brought us back the following weekend. Brunch/breakfast is a MUST DO! We met the chef, Oscar, who was fluent in gluten free options and modifications. He created our brunch plates on a made-to-order basis. Bravo, Oscar! They know what is gluten free and modify dishes as needed. Romero served us both evenings with timeliness, kindness, and warmth. Enjoyed both indoor and outdoor dining; outdoors on the deck for a reggae band. They have a botchy ball area, space to dance, put your feet in the sand, an outdoor bar and clean indoor facility. Food was great on both occasions! We had most of their appetizers, no gluten free crackers available. Plastic cups for outdoor cocktails are quality plastic to offset the fact your drinking out of plastic. Unable to see the lake or much of the bayou but the overall atmosphere offsets that fact. A large screen outdoors provides the view of the lake...good place to catch a regatta in the area. read more

By far the best clam chowder I've ever had in any state including South Carolina in California.

Super disappointed. Used to love this place. Service and quality of food has taken a dive while prices have gone up. Ordered carry out and got there before it was "ready" but it came out cold and they told us one of our requests wasn't available and substituted it with something else we didn't want (that wasn't good) and we were still charged for it. Hope they can get back to the way they used to be. read more

Great food. Great setting. Great service. 2 stars for how appalling the music was. Please hire real musicians. I don't know if this guitar and key player were drunk, high or both but this was probably the worst dinner music I've ever heard. They were trying (and failing) to figure most songs out off mic before each hit, and pretty much didn't play a single thing correctly the entire time we were there then laughed about it on stage. I'm sorry to be blunt but it was just really really bad. There are thousands of qualified musicians in this area who would kill for this gig and do a good job. I ended up eating faster and couldn't enjoy my anniversary out of sheer anxiety for what these "performers" were about to completely butcher next. People notice. Hiring good talent matters.
