This place is amazing. They're open super early and the food is delicious. It's a no frills walk up window where you can get a great basic breakfast and delicious coffee starting at 5:00 AM. It does get busy in the mornings but it's never that long of a wait for the food. The entire staff is lovely. It also has a walk up window on the inside of the laundromat behind the street window. This was our last stop before leaving! Had a breakfast sandwich and OMG it was amazing! I got just a simple egg and cheese sandwich and I was still blown away. The bread was very authentic and definitely the best we had from Key West. The staff were very friendly as well! There is limited seating outside, but it's perfect for to-go. Food went to wrong house twice. And I had to go pick up of my items that was missing. Took 2 hours. All I got was sorry. No one offered my next meal free or anything. Sandy's is the perfect quick stop! We stopped here for breakfast before heading out for a fishing trip. I had the Hangover, my husband had a Midnight & we got an authentic Cuban to go. Everything was fantastic! The restaurant is attached to a laundry mat which has a little parking, and there is street parking available in the area as well. There are 8 stools to sit and enjoy your food, but fair warning it gets hot, at breakfast time you're in the sun and it can be intense. Ordered ahead with Yelp takeout, and everything was ready on time, and order was correct. I had three Cubans while visiting Key West (Sandy's, El Mocho, and El Siboney II), and this was my favorite. I normally detest mustard on a sub type sandwich, but the flavor combo worked here, and it enhanced the pickles and meats. The meats were quality cold cuts, and the flatbread was authentic Cuban style (El Mocho also had this kind of bread, but El Siboney did not). The Cuban flatbread is wide and flat, like a squashed sub roll (in Philly we say "hoagie"). However, unlike what I am used to in Philly, the Cuban bread is dense and clean to bite through, without any collateral damage (like pulling extra bread off with your first mouthful, so that a tuft of the next one comes with it, and you get too much bread in one bite, not enough in the other). Sandy's Cuban bread doesn't have the elasticity of the apparently higher level of gluten in typical hoagie rolls, so it feels and tastes cleaner. We also tried the beef empanada, which was flavorful, but tasted like it had been frozen and heated up rather than completely fresh like the Cuban. I wouldn't go back for the empanada, but the Cuban was worth the trip. As you can see in my photo, this place is like a diner counter just off the sidewalk, which is a neat experience. It's open air in the balmy Key West weather, too, which makes it very fun. They are currently offering a 20% coupon through Yelp, so that's another big plus! Even before the coupon this place is relatively inexpensive for Key West, and you get better quality food than many of the gimmick restaurants downtown, where you pay 10 times as much, for poorer quality. My general rule in KW for food is less is more. The less costly the food was, the better it tasted. Load up on a place like Sandy's and hit one of the gimmick places for just a drink if you want to catch their live music. read more

Never in my life would I think a place attached to a laundromat would be so delicious. Literally everything we ordered was amazing. If you're going for breakfast I would highly recommend the steak and cheese on Cuban bread-- so flavorful. The pastor burrito and the steak tacos were equally enjoyed by my family. read more

Pork, ham, Swiss mustard mayo and pickle - my mouth is watering just talking about it. We came to this location 3 times and ordered the phenomenal cafe con leche iced every time with no disappointment. However as mentioned the wait times can change. This little gem is excellent! The coffee was Percy. Rich flavors and just what I needed to wake me up. The steak burrito was exploding with flavor and the tortilla was grilled just enough so you had just slight crunch as you too a bite. If you ask for hot sauce be prepared it's got some good kick. This is really a more food to go but we sat on some bar stools in front and people watched. I will be eating breakfast there again tomorrow. read more

Coming from NYC where there are many Cuban eateries to choose from I had high expectations for their food. They did not disappoint. This location is a few blocks from where I'm staying, so far I've had breakfast and dinner. Both meals were delicious. Their ropa vieja is wow. Café con leche, delicious. I went to another Cuban spot a little further out for dinner one night and was disappointed. I should of kept to Sandy's. WOW, the first word that comes to mind is authentic and the second is delicious. Came here for a bit to eat at the recommendation of my hotel a couple blocks away while in Key West and so glad I did. It reminds me of those whole in the wall places, or even a food truck, that I enjoy so much when exploring while on vacation. I watched while my sandwich was made and was a little concerned but the amount of mustard he added but it was delicious on their Authentic Cuban Sandwich. So great and so close to Cuba which add to the authentic factor for sure. I was so impressed on my recent trip to Key West, I ate here twice. And the Cuban Pork Plate was large. I would say it was large enough to split on a hot day in the keys. Seating was just along the counter wall but it was fun watching the food being prepared and all the customers stopping by for some great eats. And the price was excellent. It's attached to a laundry mat so you can have some breakfast, lunch or dinner while waiting to do you laundry too.
