I ordered the sopes plate which is a ton of food for $12. Sopes are made out of the same masa as tortillas but into a thick disc that is fried and topped with food. It is messy and amazing.You get to choose the meat for the sopes so I ordered one of cabeza (head meat) and one chicken without cheese. They are large and have lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream & guac and SO delicious! The plate also comes with refried beans and rice. Been eyeing this spot for their carne asada fries and we ordered that and some tacos via Doordash. The fries were still crispy and not soggy at all, plenty of toppings. Again very clean and organized. They have two locations I have been to both several times. Prices are the same along with quality and cleanliness. Luckily, Santa Fe has a it's own private parking lot so you won't need to worry about street parking. My husband and I love to get ourselves breakfast burritos on the weekends as a treat. The last few times we've been to Santa Fe they did not disappoint. Many breakfast options including multiple types of burritos, most coming with the standard chorizo, eggs, rice and beans and the options to add (I love potatoes). If you go early enough in the morning, the juices are super fresh (ask for samples if you're unsure). Once you've ordered, the burritos are made quickly but carefully and for an affordable price ($7-$10ea). Definitely have to try their lunch sometime! read more

We brainstormed for a bit before she ultimately decided on Santa Fe. This taqueria is located off of S. White Rd near the intersection of Story offering truly authentic Mexican cuisine. This establishment is right next to Santa Fe's very own market- score for convenience and this guarantees then never run out of supplies|items. The niece and I pull up around 7pm and was already greeted by a full parking lot and a line of hungry visitors. We placed our order for Santa Fe's most talked about dishes (California Burrito and Carne Asada Fries) and I immediately went to work on the salsa/condiment bar. An additional start given thanks to their salsa game. Santa Fe doesn't mess around, offering 6 different varieties with all levels of spice. It is all self serve so you can help yourself to as little or as much as you would like. Food is made fresh to each order so you may be standing around for a bit if its during peak business hours. Be patient because this will ensure your order coming out piping hot (well worth it imo). Keep an ear out for the cook calling out your order number and you'll be on your way in no time. Stumbled upon Santa Fe Taqueria after a long hot day at great America and boy did it hit the spot. Me and my girl ordered the Carne Asada fries, and a carne Asada burrito. The Carne Asada fries were bomb! My only criticism, were that the fries were a bit soft. Not that they had to be super crunchy, but I like my carne Asada fries with a bit more crunch to them, so the fries don't become too soggy too fast. Otherwise the taste was great. The carne Asada was super tasty, and the salsa bar had great choices to add to their food. The burrito was also super delicious. It was a good size, and was flavorful with every bite. I bit heavy on the rice for my preference, but otherwise it was a good juicy full burrito! I left Santa Fe both satisfied and happy. This place for sure lost their touch. I used to go here all the time from 2013-2019. It was my favorite place. I went again in September 2020 and February 2021, and these last two times were just not great. The carne asada fries here were super popular. I always got it, and it was one of my favorite dishes. I also got the tacos, burritos, nachos, and quesadillas often. All great. Meat, other ingredients, etc. This past time I went, it was super wack. I got the carne asada fries. The cheese was not melted all the way. You could see a bunch of shredded cheese pieces just sitting there not melted. They used to melt all the cheese, which created an amazing texture and flavor. No one likes cold un-melted cheese on Mexican food. The carne asada meat was average. It used to have an amazing flavor. It was just boring now. Nothing too amazing or significant. Average. The fries itself were decent. There were some pieces that seemed too dry or over-cooked. The overall taste, texture, and experience of the fries was not great. Average 3/5. This past time in 2021, I also asked for extra avocado green sauce. The service was completely lame. They kept saying no more and resisted. However, my friends got some and they clearly used some for the fries itself. They gave me a bunch of other sauce that I did not like. The ones I got tasted strong and heavy. Smelled like cumin. I did not like it. Anyway, the staff is just rude. There is one iconic old lady that works the register. Bad attitude. My experience in September 2020 was absolutely terrible. I'm pretty sure I went to the original location on White Rd. in 2020. I got the fries, but with Al Pastor meat. The meat was so gross and nasty. It seemed under-cooked. The fat was so chewy and tough. I was not able to eat it. Felt almost raw. The meat was just gross. The seasoning was also super heavy and strong. It was like a strong paprika flavor. Way too much. Was not easy to eat. At the time, I had to cover it all up with sauce. I could not finish it. I still had some leftovers for later that time. I pan seared the pork because of how under-done it felt. It's safe to say I am not going back to Santa Fe. Perhaps I will go to the original location once more to give it another shot. I guess I may go back for nostalgic purposes or with my friends. This is starting to become one of our go-to taquerias. The atmosphere is great and so is the food. We came here two weekends in a row because we were craving Mexican food two weekends in a row!! Back in the school days I'd always stop by La Vics for my carne asada cravings, but today I decided to expand my options. First of all, service was outstanding! The guy over the counter let us sample their horchata (tasted similarly to soymilk), as well as their mango and cantaloupe drinks. I loved the cantaloupe juice, it was extremely refreshing.
