I drive by this restaurant, El Cerrito 2, weekly while visiting my mom. The interior is spacious with several large tables and smaller two person tables near the windows. The windows let in the natural lighting. House music, and a few tvs. Two separate single-user men and women's restrooms. The service was nice and friendly. Though, only one staffer working the entire restaurant. So... Agua Fresca Horchata - refreshing, where you can taste the cinnamon. Super Taco: choice of meat, cheese, sour cream, avocado, & salsa. I went with the tripa. Decent sized taco. The tripa was soft and very lightly fried, if any. Overall, 3.5 stars. Support your local business. read more

In all honesty I think the food was great but, they could add salsa they didn't give my family no salsa on the side and very few tortillas but besides that the food was great portions could be a bit bigger but overall the food has great taste and is authentic . I like birria! It's a moist dish and they make it out of goat here. Yum! So I got the super taco. Essentially it's a huge hand made taco with more meat and onion/cilantro. I thought the birria was well flavored. I happened to add hot sauce so it was spicy. My mouth was on fire! In a good way. The only thing that did dampen the experience was a bone! My girl and I came in here to have micheladas and some yummy authentic Mexican food, and that's exactly what we got :) A friend recommended this place so we happened to be in the area so decided to stop by last Saturday afternoon. We came in right at rush hour with growling tummies and were a little skeptical because it looked very busy and we did not want to wait too long. However, I'm so glad we stayed!! The wait time for our food was not unrealistic at all! We first received our micheladas and exactly how I ordered mine (light on the Clamato). So 10/10 for attentive to detail. I received my pozole and my friend her enchiladas Michoacanas on a very timely manner. They were soooo good and we could tell they were authentic! Been here a couple of times now and interesting that it's unclaimed! Authentic Mexican food but both times the food was just slightly over cooked. Their drinks are affordable and service was fast. They can get pretty busy depending on the time of day but midweek wasn't bad at all, we were able to pick a seat right away. Pros: - fixed respective orders as requested, e.g., no onions - posole: portion size was good with the amount of hominy and two big chunks of pig feet. Comes with oregano, cabbage, limes, and two tostadas - super nachos: nicely presented with deliberate layering of cheese and meat and topped with fresh chunks of avocado and tomatoes. First time I ate there (couple weeks ago) I was hung over and got menudo. SHMACKED! Some of the best I've had. But again, I was hung over. A few days ago (not hungover) I ordered a super burrito with carnitas and my lady ordered a couple sopes with side of rice and beans. We ordered to go and when we got home, to our surprise, there were no beans or rice. My carnitas were so over cooked and hard to chew that it was like they scraped the bottom of the cazuela to use for my burrito. It took quite a while for them to even notice the line starting to form before anyone acknowledged us. While we waited we had a couple chavelas with the Tajin rim, and it was nice lookin with the slice of pineapple and orange but when she threw iced cubes in it it threw me off. Stopped here one time to get a michelada, decided to get a super one and shrimp ceviche. It came loaded with a bunch of shrimp, cucumbers, fruit and tamburino stick with a delicious michelada mix. The ceviche has was lemony and spicy and very delicious. It came with a good amount, enough for two instead of the one I ordered. Decided to come back a second time and ordered a chili relleno plate, 4 super tacos, and shrimp cocktail. The chili rellenos were stuffed with cheese, they did not skimp. My boyfriend ordered a Michelada and said it was hands down the best he's had! I ordered the shrimp ceviche and it was very fresh and also a chicken quesadilla that was packed with food. Nice little taqueria located in the alum rock area near east San Jose. The place is very small and the ambiance is not the best but it's acceptable. The food is also ok. First of all I only came here because my friend recommended ! And i was very shocked a kid took my order and I did mention to her I took her that my plate with no beans and it was very uncomfortable about tell her my beer order since she wasn't 21 yet. But when the food arrived I told the girl I said no beans and she took it and brought it back out like 2 minutes later and it was served in the same plate. I work in the food industry for over 10 years and I'm not really overacting but since I caught covid in the beginning of the year I will be overacting. I was just sitting here eating my reheated El Cerrito 2 burrito and felt a sudden urge to share this magnificence with the world. This place has, in my opinion (which is my distinct taste), the best burrito since Metros Balderas II on Alum Rock closed down in '08. I tried this joint back in 2008 as well and I remember being shocked by how good it is. Not until 4 years later did I go back to try it, only to be shocked once again by how good it is. Any taqueria that takes time to grill their tortilla on a skillet is PROBABLY going to have a good burrito. El Cerrito 2 is no exception. Seriously, somebody should send me a list of all the taquerias that grill their tortilla first so I can go do a taste test. Meat is marinated/grilled impeccably, rice is full of flavor with lots of pieces of grilled onion throughout. Also, since yelpers are so into customer service, y'all should know that this place has INCREDIBLE service. The lady who works here is such a sweetheart. When you dine in, they serve you yummy chips and salsa (which is not so rare, but always nice. also, the chips are the fried triangular yummy kind. also not rare, but again, always nice). When I came in, I asked if they had Caldo de Pollo and her eyes lit up cuz she was so excited to let me know that they have a fresh delicious batch. "Very very good!" she exclaimed. Haha she is so fun :D. Anyway, the Caldo de Pollo was actually not all that amazing, but still very solid. Flavorful broth, fresh veggies. Only problem was it was not slow cooked long enough for my taste. Mi Pueblo has better Caldo (de Res AND de Pollo). Anyway, the burritos are seriously so good. Go try it. Then let me know how you feel bout it cuz Im trying to figure out why I never enjoy any of these other burrito joints as much as everyone else does, but I fall in love with places like El Cerrito 2. Por que como le tiene en el menú parece que todos los caldos viene así. $22 dólares para que nada más le dieran puro hueso y gordura y sin arroz. Yo pedí un plato de asada apenas tenia arroz y frijoles la carne estaba dura y mi comida estaba fría y eso que apenas avía salido. First bite was damn good, there was no second guessing on the second bite.. The perfect crunch I wanted on carne asada by far. My sister and I came here after leg day at the gym. That was Good Idea #1. We called to order so it would be ready for us once we got there. That was #2. Tip: if you want to order shrimp anything, use the word camarones; when we asked the lady on the phone if they had shrimp, she said no; when asked if they have camarones, she said yes :) Speaking of camarones... That was #3. Best shrimp I've ever had in a burrito! You can tell they're cooked well and actually very deliciously seasoned. None of that bland shrimp that tends to haunt shrimp burritos! Only reason I docked a star is because ingredients were so haphazardly thrown together. All the guacamole, cheese and corn were in the last third of the burrito. And the corn, that I was so excited for, manifested itself only in a few kernels :( My sister tells me it's pretty inconsistent.
