I'm trying to figure out why Sarabeth's across the city has about a 3-3.5 stars on Yelp. I've been to the Tribeca location before and recall giving it a four star. We came for Sunday Brunch at 1pm. We needed to wait for the whole party to arrive before we got seated. The interior was big and spacious with booths and tables. I think this location is bigger than the Tribeca one. We got water fairly quickly, however, it took some time to get our orders in. I got the peach Bellini which was surprisingly strong as I felt the alcohol after one drink. The other drinks the table tried included the froses, the mango matcha and the mimosa. I got the salmon Benedict with a side of very fresh salad. Two other people got the spinach and goat cheese omelette. By the time we ordered, they were out of muffins so they both opted for the sourdough bread. The popover wasn't too bad as well. Overall, this was a decent place to get brunch. I can see why people may have higher expectations and then give this place a three for not meeting those expectations. I have definitely loved food from here in the past. But not today, got delivery from here today and it was not a completely positive experience. The side of avocado was perfect. The Popover was not to my liking and not typical of any popover I have ever had or seen or tasted. It was much too big and looked like something from a dinosaur's popover dinner. Popover did not have the correct consistency and was much too crunchy. Over the past few months, I have had their Pumpkin Waffle delivered a few times, and it has been amazing. Always the cardamon crème fraîche has been on the side, thankfully, because I hate crème fraîche. Unfortunately, today, for some bizarre reason someone thought they should dump crème fraîche on a $26 waffle, thereby ruining it. Clearly a different person then whomever prepared the waffle before and knew that the awful cardamon crème fraîche like any syrup or condiment is served on the side and the customer adds the amount of syrup or condiment to the waffle, toast, pancake, etc... to their taste themselves. Unfortunately, Door Dash does not allow any notes, where a person could instruct the kitchen staff not to dump the condiments on the waffle. So I do not see how I can order the waffle from here ever again, since they might believe dumping condiments on it is a thing. read more

I had a wonderful time at this location of Sarabeth's. I went with 2 friends and we got a variety of things to share. The deviled eggs and seasonal fruit salad were delicious. We wanted OJ but it was like $15 a glass so we passed but it did look incredible. The French toast was also yummy, though I do wish they had some sort of berry compote to top it. The avocado toast isn't any better than what you could make at home. The star of the show was absolutely the grilled cheese with the best tomato soup I've ever had in my life. Although I came ~5-6y ago for a business lunch, it was so high quality in every aspect as to be memorable in detail to this day. Upon arrival, we were greeted with high style and class in a setting of fitting classiness. The host was quick to check us in and showed us to a table clearly already fitted and set for us specifically with the lunch menu already presented for efficient business-respecting efficiency. The matching everything showed high design marks which appeals to the classic arts side of me. The menu is well thought out as to inspire the idiom, "If you do one thing, do it well". While I've since forgotten the menu or the item specifically ordered, I remember perfect execution in all stages: seared meat, perfectly picked fully fresh produce, and immaculate plating and presentation. The drink selection is thoughtful with quality over quantity and a classy course in how to execute a drink list. The highly satisfying achievement in every facet of this dining experience maintain what is Sarabeth's bread and butter business lunch before what is a classy similar dinnertime. This is a really cute spot. I ended up coming here on a friday right after work. The restaurant was not that busy at all. After about 2 hours or so it started to get a little more full. We sat to the right of the bar. The restaurant does offer a happy hour menu. They had a good variety of items and different price ranges as well, which is nice. The ambiance and vibes of this location are amazing. The bar is beautifully kept. The table was nice and clean when we sat. Each table had a light hanging from the ceiling towards the center of the table. I personally found them to be really bright and toooooo low. They give off alot of heat and after one drink, i had to remove layers of clothing. Either way, very beautiful inside. We ordered multiple items. My drink was a Belini. I highly recommend it and think its perfect for someone who doesnt want to drink too much hard liquor. My coworker got a Margarita and didn't like it. I think it wasn't sweet enough and didnt have a strong enough lime taste. We also got the crab bites, omg amazing. I wish i would of ordered two sets. Its def worth it. The pieces of flaky crab were perfectly seasoned. I also got the tator tots which I don't recommend. They are supposed to be short rib tator tots but they tasted like corn beef hash and looked like it too. They served it with a bbq/Ketchup sauce, not so great still. We also got the artichoke dip which was delicious but i def missed the spinach. The spinach gives it a little more body since i kept getting chunks of artichoke and cheese only. However, it was really good still. Our waitress was really nice but she wasnt the only one assisting us. We had multiple people come to the table and ask if we wanted or needed anything. Sarabeth's is good, they have options on the menu for everyone. I was expecting better due to its popularity and multiple locations. You have a choice between toast and popovers and if you don't eat your popover right away it turns hard. I was disappointed in that because I saved it a little because I was excited. The dips that came with them were delectable wish there was more. I had also heard about their fresh greens. Way too simple and light of a dressing for me, but I understand why people would find it refreshing. Now to the main star of the show. The Sarabeth's Quiche had ham in it so I opted for the Spinach and Goat Cheese omelet instead which is a great choice for a vegetarian (or goat cheese lover) . The goat cheese part was delectable, but other than that the omelet was simple. The simplicity was reflected in the greens and other side options. For the prices, I would've liked to see more complexity or variations reflected in choices, so I think this would be a great spot for picky eaters or kids too! read more

I came here with mom this past Friday, I feel this place lacks on customer service big time. My first interaction was with a young male host he said do you have a reservation I said no, the host said no problem I need you to step to the side while we figure out a table when I we were the only two people in the host desk lol. Instead of saying welcome thank you for joining us make yourself comfortable while we find you a table. I was taken to my table and there was a whole lot of staff and I was greated by a young Spanish male and asked us for our drinks and we ordered a orange juice and a coffee with cream. Then 10 minutes later a very sassy waiter comes to us named Adrien and was like can I get you drinks and I said I already ordered with someone and then he goes in a very sassy manner oh he's the bus boy what did you order I'm confused and gave him the order again. Clearly there is no communication between the staff. I ordered a calamari to start which was pretty good, then I ordered pancakes with a side of sausage and my mom ordered the steak frittes which it was the nastiest dish on the menu bad quality of steak. She really didn't enjoy I did not want to complain because they don't take it very well. I over heard a lady complaining about a soup she never got and didn't want to get charged and the manager was like no this is not how it works here the lady left unhappy. I go for Happy Hour not brunch or breakfast like what it's known for. Happy Hour starts at 3 pm and goes till 7 pm. Allagash is on tap along with a seasonal and stela. Some others I can't remember. Bar snack food is cheap but tastes expensive. Most plates are $6.50 to $10 for shareable stuff. Oysters and jumbo shrimp are also very inexpensive during those 4 hours. I tried to spend money here and after ordering everything I could possibly eat and drink and still be able to walk out was under $60 bucks. I'm normally spending a late lunch break here and sometimes not going back to work for over an hour or two sometimes. It's my favorite place for happy hour. Please don't come at 3 because that's when I go and I don't want someone in my regular seat lol. read more

The food was good, but for some reason they sat us in the bar area, in one of those tiny cocktail tables. There was barely enough room for our plates to fit on the table. We had to rearrange everything on our table every time we wanted to grab our water glasses. And the fabric seat was FILTHY, covered in stains! It was really disgusting to have to see that while eating. When I went to the restroom, there was PLENTY of open seats in the regular dining area. So I honestly don't know why they would cram so many people into the tiny cocktail seats. Also, when I walked into the restaurant, the hostess never even looked up at me, no eye contact, nothing. She looked at another girl, and told her to seat us. It felt a bit insulting, but I didn't want to let that ruin my morning. So overall the food was good, and our server was good. There was a large cockroach on the wall of our booth. The waitor was nonchalant about it. He tried to kill it but missed then apologized. I went to speak to the manager who should have come over to us right after the waitor told him. What I wanted to hear is that he was upset about it and would get the exterminator right on it. He did not offer anything to compensate, a drink, a dessert, a discount, something. I never would have accepted it, but it should have been offered. The food was not good either. I have generally liked Sarabeth's. The food is good, albeit a bit overpriced. Yesterday (12/7), I made a reservation for 2 for 9:30am this morning. When we were seated, we were told that for tables of 2, sitting time is limited to 1 hour. After a minute or two, my friend and I decided to go to another restaurant...not only because it's tough to have a casual brunch on a Sunday in NY in under and hour, but mostly because they have that policy. Given that they discriminate against groups of two, what we should have done was recruited one more diner so we could have had an enjoyable and relaxing meal that might have taken over an hour. And think about it, if they are slow bringing the food out, we would have had even less time to eat. There are plenty of great restaurants in that area. Pretty disappointing; 1. We had a reservation for three, we waiting for our daughter who was en route but checked in. They called on us a few minutes later, took us to a table, and then, realizing that our daughter wasn't there yet, said "we can't seat you" and not very nicely. 2. Our daughter arrived, they took us to a table in their private event space; totally lacking in ambiance (no art, no flowers, etc), and sandwiched between two tables for large parties. But more significantly, the service matched the Siberian location. 3. They don't poach eggs, they bake them in molds. Although that makes it simple for the kitchen, and the yokes might be runny as they should be (ours were not, needed to be redone), but the texture of the whites is completely different, and not in a good way. 4. The hollandaise was completely flavorless. No trace of lemon or salt, nor any cayenne or other "heat." The hostess/manager insisted on comping one of our entrees, appreciated, but we would have much preferred a more pleasant greeting, a bit more ambiance most of all more compelling food. read more

Large seating area and friendly staff. Really has the stiffish office-meeting crowd but that comes with the location. On a Tuesday at noon there was no wait for a table for three. Outdoors available as well. They serve breakfast till 4 pm which is a plus (eggs and omelette etc) but we went for the lunch menu. The appetizer we got was the chips and guacamole with lumps of really fresh crab meet. Easily shareable and quite generous in size. Adult grilled cheese was just a wee bit overdone and I think there are better choices for bread when it comes to grilled cheese (See picture) but it was hearty and filling especially with the tomato soup which is thick and not too salty. Waiter popped by frequently to check on whether or not we were ready and also during the meal. Service in the US is generally poor so I was very impressed Portion sizes were not American (ie large) but prices were "normal" (based on my limited knowledge of NY prices) Had the tuna tacos (lovely and fresh), duck meatloaf (good but there was something, not quite sure what, lacking) and chocolate truffle cake for dessert (good but one piece would have been sufficient). Chips and guacamole with crab - actual crab! This was good Loaded tots with bacon - surprisingly good even though the tots were made from chickpea and not potatoes Beef short rib - this was fine, nothing to really write about.
