Affordable and delicious! I love that they cook the meat right in front of you. I always get the #1 chicken teriyaki that comes with steamed rice and mixed vegetables. Just $12.02 (including tax) and they really heap it on! Both meat and veggies are cooked on the teppanyaki, all made to order. Perfectly savory with a tiny bit sweet. Worst Sushi experience of my life. Shame on me for going with a cheap sushi option, but damn even Grocery store sushi is better than this place. The sushi rice on the roll was spongy. It was grossing me out and I could not finish my meal. I think Sarku is good for fast food Bento Box options, but don't go here for the sushi. This is probably the best mall food court restaurant you will find in Oakridge Mall. The chicken and shrimp are always cooked perfectly. There are hits and misses with the veggies. Most of the time they are warm and basically raw. Today they were just cold and undercooked. I want to emphasize I have been here many times and this is the first time the vegetables have been so undercooked that they taste like you need a veggie dip to put on them. You really need to pay attention when your food is on the staging area. Sometimes they place scoops of food and you have no idea if you should take your plate. It's just a little inconsistent sometimes. It would help if they communicated a little more during the order or when they are done. Overall for mall food it's not bad. Yesterday I went to sparky Japan and I had a very unpleasant experience. The employee serving the food asked only me for my receipt, while calling a girl behind me without asking her for one. He also severed her a full portion of meat while I received very little. The treatment felt unfair and discriminatory. The best bite is a mix of all 3! It's part of the mall so can get busy at times but the location is at the food court, so it's easy to find a spot to sit down and have a meal. Pre-covid review: My cousin and I came here on a weekend and it was busy-busy! I'm unsure why this location doesn't have much of a high rating because my personal experience went really well! My stomach usually isn't happy if I had bad sushi but after eating here, I didn't have stomach pain at all and the fish tasted really fresh. We love Sarku! Whenever we come to the mall, this is typically the only place in the food court we get food from. This place does tend to get busy, but the food always comes out fast. With COVID, they are doing a good job with safety measures. The staff are wearing gloves and masks and there is hand sanitizer by the register. My fiancé and I both got the teriyaki chicken and they were very tasty! There's is always a good amount of both rice, veggies, and meat. It's extra tasty with some sriracha! The value, however, has been falling in the past 3 years. Double meat chicken used to fill the container all the way, but now it looks like a couple scoops. I have been going to Oakridge for over 15 years and I'm pretty sure Sarku has outlived every other food vendor except for maybe Jamba Juice. I typically have an overall great experience with Sarku. However, at this location, they never seem to know what they're doing, and they always see more worried about not running out of chicken etc. I ordered a rice plate, with extra chicken. The "cook" looks at what he has left and my extra chicken ended up being crumbs because he was almost out of chicken. When I say crumbs he sort scraped the grill and maybe touched the chicken pile. I get it, there are a ton of plates up there to fill, but when someone pays for something you give them what they payed for. This has happened a few times now at this location. I came to the mall for the first time to shop for Vegas. It was conveniently on the first floor by the movie theater. I enjoyed coming here because the line was it too long and I like how they make fresh food. The portion size that they give you is also good as well. One thing that is new for me here is that they serve sushi as well which is nice to have as an option. They give you a good amount of steamed rice and vegetables with your entrée. The bento box is the best bang for your buck, but the California rolls are some of the saddest I have seen in a long time.
