I did a lot of research before I went to see Rick Sarno, Lexus/Toyota specialist. He was patient and listened to my goals for my 2006 Lexus LX470. He suggested we run some test before we proceed with repairs. We were trying to chase down a significant oil leak and a timing belt service. Long story short, we went ahead and did the timing belt maintenance and replaced several parts along the way. He noticed other repairs needed and checked other systems while he was in there. We ended up repairing a hidden coolant leak and cam seals. He was very transparent and kept me in the loop. He took his time, which is a good thing because the engine feels stronger now and smoother. If you need a straight up, stand up guy to repair your auto hit him up in Huntington Beach... he'll treat you right! His work has value! read more

I contacted Rick 2 months ago after I did not have luck with a local Lexus dealer who could not diagnose a noise coming from underneath my car. I messaged him and he promptly replied. unfortunately it took 2 months to finally take my car in, however he was quick to respond and he jumped right into my car with me and took it for a drive. as luck would have it, the mystery noise did not present itself, but Rick put it up in the lift and spent some time looking at brakes, bearings, and all manner of things. He did find that I definitely needed all 4 tires, found a nail in my tire, and that I needed alignment. He took me to the back and showed me the wear and tear on my tires, and he found the nail that had perpetuated a slow leak as well. He referred me to a tire vendor, and alignment specialist after putting at least an hour of time into trying to help me out. He suggested that the tires and alignment. When I asked him "How much?", he would not take anything. I really appreciated the kindness and courtesy he showed and I will be back- no more dealership for me! read more

I have to write a review of my interactions with Rick of Sarno Motors in Huntington Beach, CA. The best I have ever dealt with. Very, very nice guy, polite knowledgeable, personable, attentive to detail. Honest and hardworking. He is the owner of Sarno Motors, does all the work himself. The shop is in excellent condition, he and it are always clean and orderly. I would NOT eat off his floor, but then again, I wouldn't anywhere else either. Most importantly, when you tell him what you think is wrong, his usual reply is, "I'll check it out and figure out what is wrong". Which is exactly what he does. Quality repairs, reasonable prices, excellent service. Does NOT get any better. He specializes in Lexus and Toyota vehicles. I recently had my Toyota in to a local dealer to look at a Cruise Control issue and a chirping noise coming out from under the hood. Turned out to be the water pump. There are three pulleys attached to that same belt that's turning the water pump. Experience tells you that if one is dying of old age and high mileage, the others are too. Not the dealer, I asked if they should be replaced. "No" was the answer. 2 months later I hear a chirping coming from under the hood. This time I take it to Rick. Yup, one of those pulleys. He replaced them all for far less than what the dealer charged to replace only the water pump. He also replaced the cable that goes up the steering column and made the Cruise Control work again. (The dealer wanted almost a $1000 to replace that same cable.) This guy is the best.....5 stars because I can't give him 6. read more

I have been coming to Sarno Motors for years now for all of my car maintenance needs despite the fact that I have to drive like 20 plus miles to get here. Why do I drive so far to have my oil changed and what not? Because when it comes to mechanics, it's all about trust and I trust Rick, who is the proprietor of this little auto-repair shop. Having once worked for Lexus as a mechanic, Rick set up his own shop, specializing in Lexus repair and maintenance. Now many of you can say that you should go to the dealership for maintenance but I've found that the mechanics there don't really do a thorough job and they charge about $25 more than Rick does. To top it off, while he does my typical maintenance, he inspects my car for anything else that might need work and he is very honest about what should be repaired and what can wait. I value Rick for his honesty and while I've been to one other mechanic for some work on my car because of time constraints, I am fiercely loyal to the work he does on my car. read more

Starter went out on my wife's LS460. I was originally going to take it to the dealer but decided to take a look on yelp. After reading the reviews for Sarno, I gave them a call. Rick said have AAA drop it off and he'll diagnose it. No need to even come down. Saved me a trip. Next day, Rick calls me back and lets me know it is the starter and what is involved in replacing it. Gave him the OK to get it done. Day later, all done, ready for pick up. The shop was clean and organized, office was under construction. Only thing I was a little let down on was there was some grease marks left on the door panel, steering wheel, next to push start and center console. Got home and cleaned it up in a few minutes. I will take my car back again but will inspect it before leaving. That's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. read more

This place is great!! We have two Lexus' and one of them has been causing us some issues due to it still having a lot of the original parts in it (its a 2000). Rick is always very honest and forward with us on what the issue is, what it'll take to fix it, how much it'll be and why. He calls and keeps us updated on the progress of the car. Every time we have brought our car in and had it fixed, we never had the same issue again. He does excellent work and although this isnt the cheapest place out there, you get what you pay for, Good, Honest, Quality work.
