Yuzu Shio Ramen / 柚子塩ラーメン
Johnson P.

Pretty good ramen place located in Pasadena. Went in for lunch and ended up getting the yuzu shio ramen. The price was fair and service was good. I ended up getting street parking

Great service, good atmosphere and amazingly one of the best ramen we tried. This is our first time here and surprisingly we never been here? All including their appetizers also delish. Seriously this place need to be more busy. Try them and let me know. Easily the best ramen in la now.

My favorite ramen in Pasadena. The broth is rich and delicious, the pork is perfectly cooked and the egg is delicious. I also tried their gyozas and they were delicious. Ambience is great, never too packed. Service is quick.

Your average ramen shop. My mazesoba was pretty good, I liked the flavors. I wish the takoyaki has more octopus bc each one only had one piece, the one I buy frozen has more. The tonkotsu was decent. My sister agreed the karage curry was a pass

I enjoyed their yuzu ramen. It was very interesting. It was definitely not the usual ramen youd expect. It was citrusy and very light. The chashui it came with, you can taste the charred. I also got the chawanmushi and they provided soy sauce with it. It wasnt bad but id prefer to get their karage chicken instead. The karage was lightly battered and very crispy. They also had parm cheese on top of it. Would need to come back to try their other items. There is street parking and also parking structures you can park at. Sadly both requiring payment.

A hidden gem in Pasadena. They have a nice variety of ramen, mazesoba, and rice plates/bowls. I had the Tsukemen and it was delicious. The broth was full of flavor. The chashu was tender and flavorful. Vegetarians-they have solid options. The vegetarian mazesoba was delicious. Portions were just right. Service was great and it wasn't overly crowded like some nearby ramen shops.

This is cozy restaurant located in downtown. We were welcomed and got seated quickly by our server. Staff is very friendly and attentive. For starters we had spicy agedashi tofu, this dish has fried tofu topped with very refreshing mashroom sauce. Very delicious! Unagi Bowl - grilled eel and rice. Dish was perfect. Fish was very delicate and cooked to perfection. I thanked in my mind for not overcooking it. Unagi sauce pairs well but may be I'll get it on side next time. This dish came with my favorite miso soup cup ... Yumm!!! My family had spicy ramen and chicken ramen. You can change protein in your ramen. Everyone loved their dishes. I recommend this place !!! Best wishes!!!

Nice spot! Good was delicious and so was the beer. The gyudon was super gummy and came with a side of miso soup which made me happy because I love miso soup! They also have summer specials starting at 1.99 which was cool!

Sato is the perfect balance between sophisticated and comfortable dining. Staff is friendly. Service is quick. Food arrives piping hot. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so interior seats can be limited when there are large parties present. Use street parking or nearby garage parking. Clean restrooms. Cozy, well-designed interior. Relatively mild noise level. The general vibe is pretty relaxed. Their menu has enough options to provide a variety for different tastes while not feeling overwhelming. A few staple ramens, rice bowls, a plethora of appetizers, and plenty of alcohol and nonalcoholic drinks. There's truly something for everyone. The tonkotsu ramen is a fan favorite, but the yuzu shio ramen is a great choice for those who don't favor creamy broths and want something a little lighter. Their takoyaki is a must-try, while the soft shell crab bun is a little underwhelming flavor-wise. Prices are fair considering the quality and quantity - you will definitely leave satisfied and full. Definitely recommend if you want high-end food without having to eat in a stuffy environment.

The Yuzu shio ramen here is a must try. Very refreshing and not heavy - perfect if you don't want something too rich. Also Not salty at all. A common pitfall for ramen is that the soup base can be packed with sodium but this one is truly amazing. The noodle portion is also huge. I also tried my two favorite appetizers here. The Chawanmushi is tasty and silky. The agedashi tofu is a bit tough but still flavorful. I did ask for non-spicy. Service is friendly here. Closest structure parking is the schoolhouse garage.

Was craving mazesoba so went to Sato House with the family. We usually have dinner early due to our toddler so it wasn't too crowded. It did however started getting busy towards the end of our meal. The interior is modern and sleek. Bright lights and spacious. The restrooms are also fairly clean. They were pretty accommodating with my toddler and immediately brought a bowl and plastic utensils for him. Although I wish they had crayons and paper for him, he kept himself pretty entertained. We ordered French fries for appetizer, which came out hot and was a pretty large portion. My husband ordered the hell ramen and enjoyed it. He even got a second order of noodles. I ordered the vegan mazesoba and the staff was very accommodating with my request for minor changes to the bowl (adding egg and fish powder). The mazesoba was very good. A little on the salty side, but the teriyaki tofu was a great addition. The tofu was crispy but soft on the inside and wonderfully flavored. We ordered chicken tonkatsu and rice for my son which he also ate a lot of. Family and I enjoyed our dinner and would definitely come back. Definitely worth checking out if you're near old town.

Yuzu Shio Ramen / 柚子塩ラーメン$15.99 1/3/26 yum!

Solid spot! Was pretty busy even on an odd time of 3PM on a Saturday. We kind of lingered at the entrance for quite a bit before getting acknowledged (despite the eye contact) which felt weird but other than that, solid food. - Yuzu Shio Ramen $15.99: i liked this! refreshing and light in taste. the egg was perfectly jammy and orange in the center, whilst the chashu pork was nicely charred. generous amount of bamboo shoots as well! Would've liked for the noodles to be more al dente, but would get this again - Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen $17.99: not as spicy nor did it have as much depth in flavor as I expected. I think you can get by with getting the regular tonkotsu and adding your own amt of spice (that's provided on the table) to your liking. - Black Truffle Chawanmushi $5.99: yum! 1 sizeable shrimp and 1 tiny scallop, but a generous dollop of truffle. would recommend if you're a fan of steamed egg If no street parking, there's a parking garage by the train stop that's $1 for the first 2 hours

Overall, this is a great ramen spot, especially since it's so conveniently nearby. We were craving ramen and came across this place while browsing on my trusty Yelp app--so glad we decided to give it a try! We ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and the tonkotsu curry, and both dishes were cooked to perfection and packed with rich, bold flavor. Everything was satisfying and delicious. The service was also a highlight. Since it was our first time, the staff was very helpful with recommendations, and we're glad we took their advice. They were friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The ambiance is nice and very welcoming, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. We'll definitely be back the next time a ramen craving hits. Highly recommend!

We ordered the spicy edamame to hold us over til the main dishes arrived. It was delicious, with a mild heat and lots of garlic. We also had the cheese katsu curry and menchi katsu curry. The katsus are worth the 20 min wait. The cheese katsu was oozing with thick melted cheese and gave some very satisfying cheese pulls with every bite. The menchi katsu was a generous size and was perfectly crisp. Both orders were cooked perfectly and not oily. The curry had a steady mild heat and a slightly sweet undertone, but it was missing whatever provides that umami flavor I love in Japanese curry. Maybe it needed some garlic? I'm not sure. I'm still pining for the curry from Curry House in little Tokyo, which was suddenly bought out and shut down a while ago. Nonetheless, we had a pleasant experience at Katsu Jin. I came back for the chicken katsu curry. I got take out. It was piping hot and delicious when I got home 20 min later. Highly recommend this dish! The katsu is perfect. They are located in a small plaza off Atlantic with their own parking lot in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is small, about 10 tables of 2-4, so there may be a wait during peak meal hours. We wrote our name on their waitlist, but we were seated soon after. The seats aren't too comfortable since space is tight. Their menu had a lot of customizations with katsu and curry. There were many protein choices. My boyfriend ordered their Menchi Katsu Curry ($20.25) and I ordered the Pork Loin Katsu Curry ($21.45).Both were marked as items Chef Recommends. While we were waiting for our food to come out, I noticed their chopsticks lists their other locations and most seem to be in areas with high Japanese footprint: Torrance, El Segundo, Gardena, Costa Mesa, and Los Angeles. The food was ready within a reasonable amount of time. In previous photos I saw and appreciated the grill they put the katsu on to maintain crispiness on the bottom, but they are no longer using that. The meal also came with a side salad, miso soup, and a few small sides. This is pretty typical of similar businesses. The dressing on this side salad was really bad though. As much as I wanted to eat the vegetables to be healthy, I didn't like it at all. Not taking points away cause it's an included item, but just including my observation. The rice was okay... a bit dry for my liking. The katsu itself was really crispy and crunchy for both of us. I can see how its' their specialty. For my porkloin I liked one side of it more than the other. The curry was okay, but I don't find it cravable... not like the curries that are so good I'll take it home to eat with more white rice. I barely dipped my katsu into the curry. If my boyfriend wants to come back, I might just order the katsu without the curry. A nice addition for this area, but I'm spoiled with having tried better curry katsu spots so I'm a little picky.

I decided to go ahead & order it and liked it quite a bit & let the table of friends know. Before I knew it, I'd be introduced to Stan, one of the sunniest people you'll ever meet. He & his friends pretty much make the big decisions for the mall and are somewhat more involved w/ a handful of places like Tokyo Soul. It was such a privilege to be on the receiving end of their warmth, generosity, and openness. My friend & I ended up getting to try some of the items they're planning to introduce the following week (which I won't post pics of, just to keep it a surprise :P) as we continued getting to learn s'more about our new friends, interspersed by the continuation of my & my friend's own convos. We felt lucky that we got to be served by Edward too (a mentee of Stan's), who usually doesn't work that shift, but his friendliness was definitely one of the first things I noted as I got seated. The hospitality that night outshined the food only because it was like nothing I've experienced in LA. However, the food can hold its own, and though my conversations w/ my friend + Stan & co. meant I was eating my pork katsu curry rice way past its prime state, the dish was still so flavorful that it was a delight to eat even cold. This was one of the most unique things I've tried at a Japanese restaurant. For $17, the portions are super generous - lots of fresh salmon and tuna, and not overfilled with lettuce fillers.
