The food is real southern food. The Mac and cheese were so creamy. Corn bread that melts in your mouth. Hibiscus tea that quenched my thirst. The owner was walking around asking if everything was good. The owner even served food also. Don't know many places where the owner is chipping in. read more

What a hidden gem Sauce Boss Souther Kitchen is! We ordered the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and pork chops. The sides we got were mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes. Everything was SEASONED!!!! It was great, and the owner even came out to ask us what we thought of the food. My favorite items were the sweet potatoes, fried chicken with maple sauce on the side, and surprisingly the fried green tomatoes. Will be back! read more

This place is one of the restaurants in Utah that really takes pride in the quality of their food and because of that I'll definitely be back...a lot. Everything we had was delicious. Most of this food I was eating a few weeks prior in New Orleans and everything was just as good as what I had over there. The house made red drink is insanely refreshing and pairs perfectly with the food. Our service was great as well. read more

Are you craving some really good fried chicken?! This is your place. Some of the best I've had. Take a step into the south with all your favorites at this southern charm. 1. We tried the catfish with corn and sweet potatoes. The pork shank with black eyed peas. Everything was delicious and plentiful. The corn bread was the best I've ever had. The red drink is perfect. The service was great. Nothing really special about the ambiance except the story on the back of the menu. The best southern food in Utah. read more

i was passing through draper and found this spot on google, saw the photos and knew i had to try it. i cant even explain how amazing it was. we started with the pink lemonade which was probably the best lemonade ive ever had. i got the fried chicken, my boyfriend got the blackened pork chops. we both got mac and cheese and candied yams. the chicken was insanely good esp with the maple hot sauce. the mac and cheese was to die for. the cornbread was heavenly. i sadly live in NY so i cant have this again soon but the next time im in the SLC area its a non-negotiable stop. not to mention, we loved the story of the family that owns this spot. it touched both my partner and i and we really cant wait to come back some day. thank you for the awesome food!!! read more

To be fair, we ate here 3 years ago on a trip to Yellowstone from AZ, so it's not like I ate here just yesterday. But... I still think about the meal we ate here years later! The portions were generous, the flavors were incredible, and I enjoyed the house red drink so much, I have been trying to learn to make it myself since I live too far away to get it. We were served promptly with efficient service, the restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were clean! And if we are ever back in the area, we will definitely eat here again! read more

Such happy food. Absolutely PERFECT. Honey-butter Cornbread is divine. My husband said this was the Best chicken he'd ever had!!! Came for the collard greens and it was childhood bliss in every bite. All the sides were delicious. Loved the seasonal beets. Highly recommend the pork chops. (Note: I ate half the Blackened Pork Chops before I remembered to take a picture... oops) Can't wait to try everything on the menu. Definitely found a favorite. Worth the drive from Ogden. We have been coming to Southern Kitchen for the last two years. The service is always fantastic, especially when I drink my hibiscus drink so quickly. I get 3 refills every time, it is so delicious and refreshing. The food is consistently amazing. It comes out hot, fresh, and so flavorful. We have tried so many things off the menu and they are all fantastic. The catfish, fried chicken, salads, wings, ect. You can't go wrong here. Not to mention it is very affordable! LOVED SAUCE BOSS!!!! I have not been able to stop thinking about the blackened pork chop in weeks. So many fun and different flavors. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. No where else in Utah can do Southern food, but Sauce Boss can. The service was also top notch. Our server was so kind and helped me navigate the menu to find my perfect fit. The owner was there and chatted with us for a while too. He was great! It's the kind of atmosphere that rubs off on guests so that everyone here has a smile on their faces (and in their bellies). Service was so good! Food was amazing. We got the chicken fried chicken and the big cheddar. Sides, mashed potatoes, yams and corn. Drinks the house red drink and house berry lemonade. Seriously the gravy on the chicken and potatoes was so good. I'd don't think any other mashed potatoes can compete! And the yams! Love the lemonade. Celebrated the Hubby's birthday here with the family. The dining room is decorated very simply and cute with great design. The menu is straight forward and easy to navigate. We were a party of 5 all of our meals were different and prepared perfectly. I wish I would have taken more pictures. The fried chicken was probably some of the best if not the best in Utah. I didn't really care for the red drink. read more

We ordered the fried chicken and pork chops, along with collared greens, yams, corn and the golden splendor (Mac n cheese). For the main dish, we preferred the fried chicken over the pork chops, as the pork chops were a little dry. For the sides, we liked the golden splendid and the corn the best. The corn was seasoned nicely and cooked well, and the golden splendor was nice and cheesy. Although we would've preferred to have more texture to it (bacon or other ingredients) it wasn't bad for a Mac n cheese. For the other two sides, we thought the collared greens were too soft and salty, and the yams had too mushy and could've been presented better. For the drink, we ordered the red drink and loved it. We had unlimited free refills, and love that the servers asked us if we wanted refills, and gave us one to go as well! However, after the first cup, the second cup seemed to be much sweeter and was almost too sweet for my liking (not sure why it tasted sweeter the second time - less ice?) Also, the cornbread was so dry and the bottom was burnt... the food is not worth the price, in my opinion! read more

AMAZING!!! Just absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I were on a road trip when our transmission blew up in the middle of Wyoming. We got towed and had been stuck in Logan and had not had a decent meal for 3 days. We came into Draper and found ourselves starving after a long day. A quick yelp search and we found this place. We both got the fried chicken and let me tell you, it was some of the BEST fried chicken we have ever had! I mean, we've been to the south and this was better than what we had there. The chicken was golden crispy and perfectly moist. I had the yams and it was like thanksgiving came early. Oh, and the Red Drink! So refreshing and pairs just perfectly with dinner. We showed up right as dinner was going and it was packed. I'm not going to lie, we got lucky we showed up when we did because they were almost out of fried chicken. They have a sign on the table saying you will have patience because they are not a fast food joint. But it is TOTALLY WORTH IT! To finish this up, Chef Julius came out and took the time to talk to his customers (us included) and having that personal touch at the end of a fantastic meal was just so humbling. If we ever have a chance to make it back to Draper/ Salt Lake City, we will be stopping here again! read more

This place does not currently have dine-in due to Covid (which sucks, cuz it's a cute little place, I love their wall art) but it is still cranking out the most awesome southern cuisine this side of the Utah border. Whenever we're craving some soul food, this is our go-to. Every now and then my shrimp-and-grits will be a little too dry for my tastes, but other than that, I very rarely have any complaints about their food (cuz I'm too busy shoveling it into my mouth), and I still order the shrimp and grits, cuz it's just bomb... I just add more butter to suit my personal preference. I'm sure most would consider my preferred plate too greasy The cornbread is typically a HUGE serving (thank goodness because the whole family fights over it) Another favorite of mine is the fried okra... the rest of the family doesn't love it, which leaves more for me!!! Best Southern food in Utah hands down. I got the Sticky Chicky and it was amazing! It was saucy and juicy. The cornbread was top-notch. While the Apple breed pudding is a little bland I would get it every time for dessert. And don't even get me started on the sweet iced tea, it tastes so good and it's so sweet, and it's made with love and I adore it. Everything is high-quality and it shows. Now the ambiance is a little basic but it feels homie and It makes me feel like I'm surrounded by my family. And now the service, it was so good. The waitress felt like a family member trying to help you choose the best option. Even the owner came up to the table and he was so nice. If you want some good Southern go here. read more

This place looks from the outside like you're about to drive up to a dentist office, but other than that it's a MUST TRY. I personally do not like pork rinds, however my boyfriend LOVES them and he said they were great! The big cheddar was melt in your mouth amazing! The shrimp, the bacon bits, it was unlike ANY Mac and cheese ever! The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, the mash potatoes were FRESH and served with a savory gravy. The corn bread comes with almost every meal, and it's worth going back JUST for that. The candies yams were a little watery, but overall better than ANY yams I've had at a thanksgiving And to put it all over the top the staff really does treat you like family. They were so kind, even though we came in 45 minutes before closing. If you don't live in Draper, make the drive. It's worth it! read more

Ordered to go and waited about 15mins. Staff were friendly and establishment was really clean and cute. I saw the owner who smiled and waved and would have may spoke if I wasn't on the phone. Ok the food...I ordered the red drink, chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and greens and cornbread. I also ordered a side of yams. My hotel was about 14-15mins away but when I got back the food was still warm and fresh. Mashed potatoes, greens and red drink were really good. Chicken was good as well just a tad bit dry. Cornbread was good just burnt on the bottom which you could taste. Yams were just ok to me, left more to be desired in my opinion. Overall I would go again and try something else. read more

Great place for southern food (which is very hard to find in UT). We got some catfish, fried chicken, mac and cheese, all of which were delicious. The fried chicken has a really interesting batter which isn't like what you would get at kfc / popeyes, its much more substantial. The mac and cheese was thick af and there is no way a single person could finish that whole thing, although props to you if you can. The staff was all very nice and the owner came out for a bit and talked to customers. Ambiance was ok, very diner feeling and can get quiet sometimes but thats not really an issue. Would definitely come again. read more

My girlfriends and I ate there last night. We got there at 5, right when it opened for the evening. We ordered at 5:20 but didn't get our food until 6:30. That's why I knocked one star off. We did have a group of 7, but didn't enjoy waiting so long for our food. The actual food was delicious. In our group we had chicken, catfish, sandwiches and salad. Everyone loved their food. Wow soul food in Uatah, who would thought? I must say it is the real deal. Chef Julius is in the mix . Let me start with the customer service it was 5 stars all the way around they greeted us and made us feel welcome and appreciated for stop by. Our server new the menu very well and was able to talk about each dish. Now I can say their nothing bad on the menu , the menu is small but full of favor. We was a party of 8 so between everybody we was able to try most of the menu and it was delicious . This place is must try if your in the area and want some Southern cooking in Uatah. My meal: fried catfish, with candied hams, gold splendor (mac n cheese), cornbread, hibiscus red drink (house special) My partner's meal: House lemonade with fruit mix in (peach) ,fried chicken sandwich with candied yams, and golden splendor Pros: The service was really good! Greeted right away at the door, it took a few minutes to get our drink and food order but overall great service, super friendly! They offered you pork skins to snack on while you wait for your meal served with their soul sauce which was a little spicy but just right! Overall the food was very very flavorful, the mac n cheese was well spiced, and the yams were sweet, tender and delicious. My fish was tender, hot and flavorful just wish the breading would stay on. The house special red drink was very flavorful and refreshing. The pineapple, hibiscus and gingered married beautifully together and it wasn't overly sweet! I tried a drink of the house lemonade and it was refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness but I wish it had more of a peach flavor. The owner walked around greeting the guest and asking how the food was which I liked to see. Cons: Unfortunately my first bite of food was lukewarm ,nearly cold which was very disappointing. We waited about 20mins for the food so I know they took their time making sure it was flavorful and cooked to order but all that waiting only to bite into cold candied yams, mac n cheese and dry cold corn bread. The cornbread texture tasted like it's been sitting out and wasn't fresh. My catfish breading slipped off and separated from the fish every time i tried to get a bite with my fork or hands. I really wanted just to tear a bite off and enjoy the crispy corn meal breading and fish together but unfortunately that wasn't possible. My partners fried chicken sandwich was the same way, every time she took a bite the chicken would slipped out of the breading and she either got a mouthful of breading without chicken or vice versa. Overall we enjoyed the flavor of the meal and the friendly atmosphere. This was our first time coming here and it was unfortunate the sides were cold but we will definitely come back and give it another try. We started with a food truck serving pasta with fresh delicious sauces. We served the people of Salt Lake, Weber and Utah counties for 3 years. We have now closed the truck and opened a restaurant! We now offer delicious soul food that's accompanied by delicious original sauces created by the Sauce Boss!

The purple yams were decent and the coquettes but again the pricing for each was exorbitant. Also because they have a somewhat open kitchen style concept the dining room got extremely hot and we were just dying to get out quickly. For two entrees, two sides, one app, a bottle of water and glass of wine a bill of $225 was not worth it. Sadly not a great experience.

I stumbled upon this gem on Yelp and was thrilled to discover it's a Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives featured spot! The restaurant staff was incredibly welcoming, and the owner went out of his way to ensure we were enjoying our meal. His passion for his business and customer satisfaction was evident. The food was absolutely phenomenal! The chicken fried chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and with incredible seasoning. But the star of the show might have been the mashed potatoes - a smoky garlic flavor I've never tasted before. The creamy mac and cheese was pure comfort food perfection. Almost two years later and still amazing! Covid has been so detrimental to small restaurants but Sauce Boss is pulling through. Hubby and I shared a Sticky Chicky sandwich with fries, a side of Golden Splendor and some lemon raspberry cheesecake bars. We hadn't tried the new Sticky Chicky sandwich yet...to quote the hubby, "that's a damn good sandwich!" The heat was definitely there but not overwhelming--enough for him and not too much for me. The fries are always crisp and the blackening seasoning is perfect flavor. And the cheesecake bars? The lemon and raspberry flavors were mellow, it's definitely not a tart lemon flavor. The cheesecake filling was deliciously creamy, not too sweet. I would order those by the tray if I could!! You really can't go wrong here. I grew up in Alabama so I know good southern food when I taste it. Oh my goodness. I had the Shrimp and Cheese Grits with Collard Greens and Sweet Potatoes. And like everyone, I got a wedge of their cornbread. It was all great! The grits were creamy, the shrimp flavorful, the collards perfectly cooked, and the sweet potatoes perfectly seasoned. They are definitely understaffed so I feel bad because you can tell they are definitely stressed. The bathroom was gross and smelt absolutely disgusting. I hope the workers are getting paid extra because they do not have enough staff today. That being said I will give this place another shot to see if it was just an issue due to call outs.

It also lacked smoke flavor. The ribs were even more surprising. It's a bad sign if I'm wondering if the ribs were baked in the oven. There was just no smoke flavor. Maybe this explains why I've been getting weekly coupons texted to me? But it makes me sad. I hate that I need to fly to Texas if I want decent bbq. Utah should be able to do better than this in 2026. Just look at the brisket in my 2nd photo :(

I don't eat fried foods, and I'm not into cornbread and butter, so that is why I do not care for these places.

For appetizers, we ordered the Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs and the Spinach Artichoke Dip. Both were really good. I had never tried deviled eggs with smoked salmon before, but it worked surprisingly well. The salmon didn't overpower the egg and added a really nice flavor. The artichoke dip was also a standout and something I'd definitely order again. For my entrée, I had the Huckleberry Pork Tenderloin, and it was my favorite part of the meal. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the huckleberry sauce, but it completely won me over. It's that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, and I genuinely wished I could take a bottle home. I chose the Parmesan mashed potatoes with gravy and the green beans with bacon and onion as my sides. The mashed potatoes were good, though the gravy leaned a little too savory for my taste. The green beans, however, were excellent. The bacon added great texture and flavor. My husband ordered the Cold-Smoked Sous Vide Tri-Tip with green beans and sweet potato mash. I'm usually not a sweet potato person, but these were shockingly good. I'll probably get those next time. We were already full, but they had gluten-free dessert options, which I couldn't pass up. We took home the Huckleberry Chocolate Mousse and the Huckleberry Supreme Pie, and both were incredible. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. We definitely overdid it... but I regret nothing. Being able to enjoy appetizers, a full meal, and dessert without worrying about gluten was such a treat. I'd absolutely recommend this place, especially if you're gluten free and tired of feeling limited when you go out to eat.

My friend tried it as well and neither of us wanted to finish it. It pains me to hit post review, I don't like to be negative but I do need to be honest.

Two dishes we ordered were unavailable -- and we only found out after waiting another 20-30 minutes and watching tables seated after us get their food first. No manager was available, just a "server assistant" who couldn't do much. By the time we left, it was 2:00 PM. We'd been there over an hour with no food and nonstop confusion. A nearby table mentioned slow service too, so clearly this wasn't just us. Key issues: * No greeting * Reservation "lost" * Seated then ignored * Two menu items unavailable * Conflicting stories from staff * Promised gift card never given * No manager available I hate writing negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable from start to finish, and people deserve to know.

The tables with a bit dirty with debris from the trees and hadn't been wiped off at all but we were sat there anyways. We waited over 20 minutes to place our order. Not sure what the situation was because the place wasn't that busy but many tables seemed to be waiting a while to place orders or receive their food. We finally got a chance to order and each of us ordered something different. I tried the Thai Coconut Pancakes which sounded delicious. Sadly we waited and waited again for our food and then it arrived in stages. Anyone that runs a restaurant kitchen knows that patrons want to each together at the same time. Our dishes came out one by one with significant timing gaps between them. It made our experience a little disappointing. My pancakes never came out. I said something to one server and she said she'd check on it. Several minutes went by and still nothing and our own server didn't even check back in on us. I went inside to see where my pancakes were and they said there was a mistake and they were still working on it. Finally after the other 3 in our party were just about finished eating my Thai Coconut Pancakes arrived. I will say the pancakes were delicious, flavorful and quite unique. I would order this dish again but I must say based on the slow service experience we had today I'm a bit hesitant to return to Jeffi's.
