I went at 8, one hour before closing. There is an open parking lot and the store was brightly lit. Upon entry, I was greeted (I spoke first to cashier) and helped. Many pasta options were sold out. The only one left was the shrimp bruschetta but luckily that's what I wanted. I was going to also get the deconstructed lasagna if it were available but I got bread sticks and Caesar salad instead. The meal was pretty good. The past comes with a crispy breadcrumb aka the bruschetta to sprinkle on top. It reminded me of fried fish and spaghetti a little bit.. The Caesar was good too, no complaints. The breadsticks were soft and buttery with Parmesan. If in the area I would definitely frequent this location. The pasta was 15.99, about the same as restaurant pasta, but of course this is quicker. I'd say it's the chipotle of pasta, an elevated noodles company. Recommended. Side note: I'm big on polite interactions and my thank you was not replied to by cashier. Nor was I approached first, which is what I typically expect. It's a family restaurant of the Fratelli's Ristorante, which has been in business and family owned since 1970. They make homemade pasta and use their family recipe. It's all cooked/made there in the restaurant located by Schnucks on First Capital. I went with the shrimp bruschetta and a side cosmopolitan salad (with grapes, feta, and walnuts). Did a side of breadsticks that were soft and crunchy both - which means perfect. The amount of food was enough for two people. They have a menu item of a small bowl and side salad, which I feel would be the perfect amount of one meal. If you want leftovers for another meal then order the regular size bowl. I felt like I had to hunch over my food to eat it. The service was fast and friendly. I was greeted and bid fair well when I left, which is always nice. It does seem like there are quite a few regulars, because they greeted several customers by name. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and a side of breadsticks. The meat sauce and meatballs were exactly the quality I've come to expect from Fratelli's or a sibling establishment. My pasta was a little more Al dente than I would like, but still tasty. I'm a huge fan of Fratelli's, so I was very excited to try this fast casual version of their model. Picture the inside setup similar to a Noodles and Co but with very much upgraded food. I feel like it may have been a better setup to have it closer to the other food making area - which is also open concept so you can see it while you dine. I ordered the side salad and Rigatoni Carbonara. Their side salad is DELICIOUS! Never skip out on their salad, the dressing is homemade and one of my favorites. It's simple but amazing. I enjoyed the carbonara. It was creamy, had plenty of bacon and the sauce was tasty. The serving size was also plenty. Friend built their own bowl and also enjoyed it. Overall I enjoyed my experience here. So why did I give it 4 stars? Easy - price points were comparable to the fine dining Fratelli's original restaurant once I added on my salad, but didn't include some of the nicer touches you get at the full restaurant such as bread basket. This is a great place to have in St.Charles. As a general rule, I don't eat pasta, but for this place, I make an exception. Why? Pasta is made fresh in-store with a minimum of real food ingredients, no processed fillers, flavors, or artificial preservatives, etc. The pasta is delicious, you can taste the difference, both in flavor and texture. The meatballs, (which I can vouch for since I've probably eaten my weight in these since they opened) ARE DELICIOUS! The salads are also very nice and we will usually split one so we get some greens with our meals. Staff is super friendly and service is prompt and courteous always. It was nice to watch the team hard at work making meals for their guests. We were promptly greeted on arrival. They offer counter service. The team member was helpful with explaining the menu and various options. The menu consists of several pasta dishes, salad, and sides. There is also a DIY option. Pick your pasta, the sauce, a protein, and optional veggies. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything. We went with the deconstructed lasagna. This one is a must try! The dish is hearty, saucy, and cheesy. Make sure you're really hungry, the portion is very generous. We also had the rustic salad with chicken. This salad was fantastic! The flavors including currants, pepitas, and Gorgonzola paired nicely with the balsamic and dressing. In my opinion, the salad was overdressed. But, that one is personal preference and no bearing on taste and quality. Be sure to add some breadsticks to round out your meal. I recommend get two orders. You're definitely going to wasn't more. This fast casual spot nearly "wowed" this single diner. By appearances you would think this is part of a national chain rather than another brand by a local restaurateur, the Fratelli's ownership. Orders placed at the front counter with self serve cola from the fountain. Meals are delivered to the table, but as with other fast, casual places you bus your own spot after dining. I enjoyed the deconstructed lasagna along with a side Caesar salad. "Deconstructed" means the lasagna isn't layered with lasagna noodles, but small noodles are poured into the meat sauce. A dollop of ricotta cheese tops the dish. The sauce was light on meat, but mushrooms partly made up for that. The small mound of cheese didn't stretch throughout the dish, meaning a good portion was simply sauced noodles and mushrooms. The salad was a satisfactory portion but typical in taste and presentation. The tab was $21without a drink. So, factor about $50 for two dishes, salads, and drinks, including tax. On the plus side, the portions were such that had I split the dish with my wife, as I typically do, it would've been a very good value over fast food. read more
