This place was a hit for me on the ambiance and a big miss on the coffee/pastries. The location in a cute alley, ample natural light, adorable dish ware, and great playlist make it a perfect place to post up with a book or laptop. But the lattes we ordered (specifically requested at half sweetness no less) were almost impossible to drink because all we could taste was the flavored syrup. I'm sure that's what some folks want...but I would not get another flavored drink here. The pastries were also a bummer -- they were heated but not flaky. My tomato mozzarella pastry was soft and mushy. Think 15 seconds in a microwave. My companion's ham/cheese croissant was globby and gelled together in the middle. Think frozen and thawed too quickly. In short, I wouldn't seek this spot out again. But I also wouldn't be mad to find myself there again to have a coffee only. read more

My friend told me to check out Savvvys, so I made a pit stop there when I was in the area for an afternoon snack and iced tea. I strolled in around 3:30pm and found the most adorable cafe. The place is decorated very cute, clean and very spacious. The menu is super simple and they also have a list of milk options for you to choose from. I ordered a matcha latte hot with almond milk the price was total $7.17 (kinda steep) I always make sure to ask if the matcha powder is sweetened or not and also asked if the almond milk is sweetened or unsweetened. I stumbled across Savvy's as I was walking down an alley in old town Pasadena. It is absolutely the cutest little coffee shop I've ever seen! It's crazy because the inside interior decoration is exactly what I want my dream apartment to look like. From the velvet chairs, to the marble tables, and green plants hanging from the ceiling, to the moody jazz music playing over the speakers, it really gives you a ritzy cafe vibe. It is definitely the daytime version of the jazz bar located right across from it. But most importantly, the drinks are so good! I tried a drink from their Valentine's Day menu called strawberry infatuation and it was delicious. It's made of strawberry, vanilla, espresso and oat milk and it is topped with some fruity pebbles cereal. The coffee shop was on the quiet side, and a great place to do work. There's public parking near-by, only $1 for the first two hours, which is just crossed the main road, convenient. For picture perfect setting, I asked the drink to be in the mug, if not, I think they automatically serve you in disposable cup?:) Interior isn't as large as I thought, but very cozy, colorful, and stylish. #102 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. I love Savvvy's, a charming new coffeeshop with amazing service, drinks, ambiance, and workspace. The shop's interior design is tasteful and sheek, and includes elements of both polished elegance and home comfort. The shop has opulent marble tables with green velvet chairs, a built in bench along one wall with a lineup of vibrant colored throw pillows, a plush leather sofa and coffee table in the corner, live foliage throughout the shop, large windows for natural lighting, and modern geometric hanging lights that go well with the open industrial ceiling. I also like how they play classical and jazz music in the background, adding to the soft ambiance of the coffeeshop. I chatted with the owner Savannah a few times and she is such a sweetheart. Savannah mentioned they opened about a month ago and are still in the soft opening stage. She said she hasn't done any publicity yet because she wants to make sure everything is running smoothly before they attract more customers. Fun fact - I recently learned that her dad runs one of my favorite local brunch restaurants that has been in business since 1995. I only mention this because it's pretty awesome how entrepreneurship runs in the family. Moving on to their coffee, Savvvy's has a creative curated menu of drinks using syrups made in-house. And I am happy to say I have now officially tried them all! My current favorite is the Maple latte, which is made with toasted brown sugar and maple syrup. I like how they brulee the brown sugar right in front of you. My second favorite is their seasonal holiday latte, the Miss Nice, which is made with white chocolate, pumpkin, and cinnamon. It's THE BEST winter latte around, in my opinion. Another one of their lattes, The Minty Baby, is pretty distinctive from the typical boring vanilla latte. I'm usually not a fan of mint drinks or desserts (which I've always compared to swallowing toothpaste lol), but the vanilla and mint was an interesting combination here, and the mint wasn't too overpowering. So while I didn't love it, I didn't dislike it either. The Maple Matcha is a matcha latte with maple, pecan, and cinnamon. The barista described it as Christmas in a cup, but be warned the pecan flavor is strong. I had to ask for extra matcha afterwards to help balance out the flavor. The Savvvy's Special is a typical brown sugar latte. The Rosy Cheeks is a rose latte made from pink roses, so the flavor profile tasted more like rosewater than your standard sugary rose syrup. And the Lady Lavender is a lavender honey latte that is pretty subtle in taste. They also have a limited selection of teas and are able to make standard coffee drinks like Americanos, etc. So all in all, Savvvy's has alot to offer, with something for everyone! read more

We were actually Yelping for lunch places but Savvvy's popped up and we decided why not because I can always use a pastry and coffee. Saw a sign at the counter for Chagaccino. Mushroom coffee say what? I added a shot of espresso with oat milk and it was AMAZING! It was steamy, hot, creamy, and lightly sweetened. I'm not a big coffee connoisseur, but this tasted so delicious and gave me just enough caffeine. I added a matcha pistachio croissant and it was warmed up. Sooo good! Pros: Tucked away down an alley off Colorado Blvd. -- it's a pleasant surprise. You enter and it's a beautiful, modern, and inviting space with seating decorated with colorful throw pillows. There is covered patio seating as well. The drink menu has some intriguing lattes as well as your usual coffee suspects, so you can stick to what you know or try something different and seemingly enticing. Cons: The peach cobbler and maple lattes were honestly too mellow in flavor. I hardly tasted any peach, and the maple latte was nothing special. Both lattes were smooth in texture, but tasted more like warm oat milk than anything else. As beautiful as the interior setting is, the bench seating is hard, uncushioned, and too high for the height of the tables. This is rather uncomfortable, and why most patrons choose to sit on the chairs, which are at the right height in relation to the tables. There was only one barista on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't busy, but the drinks did take some time. Had it been busier, having only one barista to make the drinks and play cashier can become very challenging. read more

This shop is also found in the alleyway, so it's not too hard to find if you're a Pasadena local. I was confused about the menu on what the the difference was between Japanese style matcha vs regular matcha. It tasted more like water with a splash of coffee in milk. I didn't taste much of the vanilla either. The strawberry matcha latte was nice. The ambiance in here is perfect for studying because it is cozy and quiet. However, I was a bit disappointed in the things we ordered today. I got the Japanese style matcha after being told that was ceremonial matcha vs the regular matcha being culinary matcha. I had high expectations from the good reviews but my matcha was served to me light green, which was off-putting at first because in other photos, as well from previous experience with matcha, it was really light for ceremonial. When it came to taste, unfortunately my drink was just a cup of green milk, not a hint of matcha, which sucked because it was $8.28 total for, well milk. Someone else in my group ordered the strawberry blonde, a strawberry matcha, which also had a very artificial taste which we believed came from the vanilla? and still no matcha flavor. We actually stopped by to try the matcha pistachio croissant, and it was undeniably flakey and delicious but the pistachio flavor was a bit overwhelming. The star of the show today was the nutella croissant, which had a nice balance of nuttiness and richness from the chocolate, but also on a croissant with a filling similar to an almond croissant. A very elegant & beautifully decorated coffee shop with plenty of plants and natural light to provide a calm atmosphere! I came here to get some work done with a friend and it was provided a great atmosphere to do so. Free WiFi, the music wasn't too distracting, and not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon. I like that that shop was a little hidden in the alley. There's plenty of metered street parking around the area for ~$2 The staff was patient and friendly. I enjoyed my strawberry blonde matcha. My girlfriends and I stopped by here after our workout. A cozy little coffee shop tucked away in an alley. It has the cutest decor and SO many plants! They have a lot of specialty lattes and several of them caught my eye. I ended up with the peach cobbler iced latte. The peach flavor was strong, just like the expresso. It was a bit sweet for me. Hidden gem. Would give this place a 4.5 because it was really good. The peach latte was balanced with a subtle flavor of peach. The Americano is small but was very flavorful just needed more ice because most of it melted right away. The espresso was solid and I eventually turned it into another Americano after tasting it. I been to many places near this spot but never walked through the alley that leads to it but thanks to Yelp, found it, went there and was pleased by my first experience. We also tried the almond croissant, was also very good. The staff were very friendly and they have a nice decor/very vibrant shop. Will definitely want to go back. Next up was their maple latte with toasted brown sugar and a nice touch of maple. Both drink were served on a cute little mug and saucer set and it was a perfect set up to go along with the chill atmosphere. Decor or aesthetics were very eye pleasing and calming.
