Food has went down over the years. I have been twice recently, and it's been a huge disappointment. The first time I went with my sister the food wasn't anything like we remembered it . We both said that we would never return.... few weeks later my husband and I were driving to our hotel and we passed by the schlotzsky's on valencia I told him nope don't do it but he wanted to see for himself if it were the sandwiches he remembers ... this is where "I told you so" comes into play.. the food was disgusting. The restraunt has a strong sewege odor that makes your stomach curl as you walk in, but the best part is the manager, Lucero.. after we ordered our food.. paid and sat down, they brought us our food not to long after .. about 5 minutes later we were approached by an employee who said our payment didn't go through I immediately got on my bank and verified that the payment did infact go through I showed this to the employee and all was fine.. shortly after the manager Lucero, who told me she was the general manager, came over and started being verbally aggressive in front of our kids over non payment. We told her we paid and showed her the bank account .. she told us that it's our machines this happens a lot I can promise you it didn't go through. After seeing the charge did go through, I called the bank for one last verification, and the teller confirmed the bill went through and was paid. She wouldn't quit verbally assaulting us while we were trying to eat our meal, yelling over and over, enjoy your free meal, and get out of my store. I told her we are paying customers and will leave when we are done she continues to harass and told me now her cashier had to pay the bill.. I told her we'll that's illegal, and why you trying to make her pay a bill that was already paid ... I made a report on bbb, called corporate, and filed a police report on the manager for harrasment and verbal abuse on my children and I . It's sad the business allows this type of behavior. I have called for the real general manager and corporate but haven't heard back. I hope with the money you still from people using the it's our machine scam helps you buy a new system or maybe the money you are taking from the cashier can go towards that. This place needs to be investigated for stealing from customers...always check your account first! read more

This place is great. A perfect stop for a light, but satisfying, lunch after flying into town. Super convenient location to the airport. Sandwiches are really tasty. The bread is amazing. Nice clean atmosphere and friendly staff. Most of the negative reviews are pretty unfair and management takes the time to respond to each one. This will be a regular stop for me when coming to Tucson. read more

The Fresh Veggie is really good. The jalapeno cheese bread was soft and full of flavor and the veggies were good too. Came with a pickle on the side. The small is pretty small especially for like $6 or whatever it was but I guess that's just the way things are headed. I checked in with Yelp and a coupon for a free cookie popped up. Yay! I usually only get a chance to eat here coming/going to the airport but I always make it a point to stop there. FYI the service here is kind of iffy. The employees are always really nice but it seems like they're hanging out in the back and you kind of have to get their attention. They really need a bell on the door or something. read more

Visiting Tucson for a baby shower and stopped by Schlotzsky's on a recommendation and because we were heading to the freeway on the way back to LA. So glad we stopped!!! The staff is sooo nice, patient knowledgeable, personable... all I can say is wow! Thank you Stoney for describing everything we asked about (and we asked a lot) Ok the food is delicious also. I wasn't hungry having eaten at the hotel but walking in the door we could smell the fresh baked bread and everything looked so great I had to order. The dark rye is great with a nice crust on top and nice and soft inside. My sister said the smoked brisket Mac n cheese is delicious first bite to the last. My brother in law said "excellent" sandwich and chips too which you can tell by the picture of his food I barely got. Jennifer The manager even came out to say hello and check on the customers. Have not been here in a long time. As we were in the area and we had some nice coupons, we decided to stop in. Ordered two medium originals. They were great! Service was very good although a little slow due to the people in front of me. The place is very clean and sanitizer is placed on the table where you order. Some tables have been removed and the remaining ones are spaced six feet or more apart. Their food is very good and the prices are fair. A medium size sandwich was to large for either myself or my wife to completely finish. We each ate half and had the other half for lunch the next day for lunch. A nice place to stop for lunch. My wife and I had just gotten in late on a flight on 12/18, and we walked from our hotel near the airport to this location. We made it about 15 minutes before closing, and there were two women working. One of them came out and asked if we were a Doordash order. We said no, but asked if we could order because we didn't know the indoors was locked and didn't have a car. This woman buzzed the other one at the register to let us in, and we were so grateful! They had our order out in a few minutes (pizza, sandwich, cinnamon rolls) and were very nice to us. They could have turned as away as they were closing. I have ordered plenty of to-go salads from Schlotzsky's and they seem to have healthy and delicious ingredients on the menu - it's only on the menu and it never made it to my order. They constantly miss out on the garlic bread side. Their salads don't always have grilled tomatoes and grilled mushrooms in spite of paying extra for the toppings, sometimes it's just chopped tomatoes and raw mushrooms. They miss the chicken in the chicken orchard salad. When you call them and complain that the chicken is missing in my chicken salad, they say - hmm okay. They make you wait for a good 20 minutes and still get your salad wrong. This place has a lot of potential. But, too bad my patience has run out now. read more

A decent spot for lunch. Good prices and menu variety. I have always liked their sandwiches. Most recently, I ordered their you-pick-two combo with an orchard salad and tomato basil soup. The soup was pretty delicious with garlic bread on the side and a swirl of pesto sauce on the top. The salad was good in theory, but the greens were sparse and wilty. I also asked if they had a balsamic vinaigrette, and the cashier told me yes. But my food was delivered with no dressing at all, so I grabbed some oil and balsamic vinegar off the condiment bar. That's fine but not the same as a vinaigrette. The restaurant was super busy around 1 p.m. The staff was pretty nice but seemed to be having trouble keeping up. Almost every table was dirty and we waited a while for our lunches, which were both soups and salads, and I'd think a lot of that is premade (i.e., nothing needing to be cooked.) For the Cinnabon inside specifically- Apple Maps said the Cinnabon drive thru is open starting at 7am. When I showed up at 715AM yesterday 7/5/22, the neon "drive thru open" sign was turned on but no one answered through the intercom, drive thru window, and the main doors were locked. It looked like a handful of rolls had been made and ready to go (could have been leftovers from the night before). I drove 15 minutes out of my way to come up empty handed. Please update your hours and remember to turn off your signs if you are not truly open. It's very misleading. read more

Quick bite after a hike. The location is a bit dirty. I had a French dip that was served on a pretzel bun and my hubby had the Chicken. The sandwich's were good but I felt like it was priced too high. Two sandwich's one bag of chips and an iced tea came out to almost $24. I feel like that is overpriced for fast food. I noticed on the way out there was a notice posted that they are currently operating without a permit. It looks as though the health department took their permit and they are reapplying for one. If I saw this first this review would not be because I would have decided on another option for lunch. Hoping the best for later! Well, I haven't eaten at a Schlotzsky's since the 1980s in Texas, where they were originally founded. It appears the unique flavors of Schlotzsky's have been hugely watered down over the years by multiple buyouts and takeovers. The original sandwich, while not a "true" muffuletta, was a great tasting variation! Now the "Original" is just a verbbasic sub sandwich, sort of toasted, on a round bun. The bun is one of their marketing selling points, because it's so "unique". Unfortunately, the round bun is not enough to make me want to come back, especially when it's filled with basic cheese, cold cuts, and veggies I could easily throw together at home. Not to mention the price! Yikes! Almost $12 for a mediocre medium-sized sandwich and a medium soft drink. No thank you! I will say the employees at this location were fast, friendly, and efficient. I'm just sorry to see they have to hawk such over-priced, substandard, plain run-of-the-mill food. read more

One of about 4 or is it 5 restaurants that are practically connected to one of our Training Centers. We don't have to walk far on our lunch break to get a bite to eat. While not one of my favorite stops near the training center it is a consistant and very reliable one. I prefer their sandwiches here over Eeeges but Baggins is much better than both. Their salad selection is a little weak but they have salads, one or 2 soups daily and of course sandwiches. They also have personal sized pizzas on the menu. The last 2 times I have been here that has been my choice, pizza. I have done the bbq chicken and most recently the combo. Both were good and topped with the same fresh veggies that they use for their sandwiches and the crust is thick but not too thick and just slighly crispy. So excited to have found a Schlotzsky's in Tucson, fairly close to my home! The big draw for me is the bread used for The Original...so delicious! The employee at the window was very courteous and friendly, the wait time at the window was acceptable, and the Original sandwich with one exception) was delicious, just like I remember from younger days. The exception is that I asked for no onion, which was confirmed twice by the order taker, but when I got the sandwich it was loaded with onion. Onions (and other foods) make me very ill, so the single most important thing for me when ordering food is that I get what I ask for. The cookies LIE!!! I actually LOVE this place. The food is great and the staff has always been friendly to me. I've tried the sandwiches, salads, pizzas, Cinnabon's and cookies. I've never had issues until today :-( I received a cookie and the label tells the day they baked it and the day it's supposed to be thrown away. Welllll after eating half I realized I had 2 stickers. The one on top said the cookie was baked today and fresh, but when I lifted it up there was another label saying it was actually supposed to be thrown away today. I was told that this is the only Schlotzsky's in all of Tucson, and I just happen to work practically right next store. This was my first time ever eating at any Schlotzsky's, and I must say that the food is actually pretty amazing. There's a lot selection when it comes to sandwiches and different bread options. I went with friends and coworkers and we all loved our food. Plus we got a big cinnabon cinnamon roll to share with each other. Mmmm.... the breads are delicious! The only downside to this place is sort of the location. It's a popular little spot, but it looks like parking is a touch scarce. I can walk from work though so it's okay. The other downside was the service, dining in or eating out. We dined in. We had a salad and two sandwiches. We got the sandwiches before the salad. Waited for the salad but it never came. My friend had to pick it up at the window herself because the girl who was delivering orders was only grabbing one thing at a time and walking very slowly. And food was being made faster than she was willing to keep up. So... the salad let's just say got pushed to the side and buried in the back due to either laziness/physical slowness or being understaffed. Regardless of the service, the food is still really good. I have eaten at this restaurant maybe 5 or 6 times. Each time I've gotten great service and food. The place is super clean, including the bathroom. It's just different enough from other sandwiches to be a really good change, while still eating a sandwich. The breads are the key...FANTASTIC! I've been working nearby all week so I've been eating here like 3 days in a row. They've been great every single time. You have to try the California flat bread. It is the bomb!!!! We used to enjoy the one in Sierra Vista, so were delighted to finally find the one in Tucson. When I told my sister we had gone to Shclotzkeys, she said "On, those sandwiches" and that was based on her memory of a visit in Athens, GA in 1980!! Have to echo her comment, DH Original and my AlbuquerqueTurkey were as great as always. Service was fine, though a bit inattentive. Menu was limited, to sandwiches and pizza, where as the SV store also had mac and cheese and other items. While there they burnt a whole oven worth of bread, as they didn't immediately respond to the timer going off; again being inattentive. Floors were very sticky, and you could see dirty footprints everywhere, as well as paper trash here in there. Same with the bathroom. Made me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. read more
