I admit, I have a weakness for Mike's Hot Italian Sub at Jersey Mike's. But this isn't a food review. This is a human being/customer service review. I had some time to kill between appointments and stopped at JM on Speedway for lunch. At the table next to me, eating his meal, was a person with impaired vision. I drew this assumption as he was reading something in braille, wore dark shades and had a mobility cane. "Pat", who I think may be one of the managers, checked on this customer a few times, offering to bring him refills, napkins,take his trash etc. Pat also told him to let him know when he was ready to leave and he'd escort him out (to his ride, I think). The customer was very appreciative. I was touched by the extra effort. Then, as I'm writing this review, Pat came over and offered to get me a refill and take my trash. Note that JM is a typical order at the counter and bus your own table kind of place so I'm impressed when there's unexpected service. Franchise yes, but I'll be back. I tried the Buffalo giant sandwich on white bread and it was delicious! One of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. Staff was super friendly and helpful since I hadn't ever been here and helped me pick something from menu. I did not wait long for my food even though it was busy lunch hour and lobby was packed. I got a gift card called Zillions where I could choose from a bunch of different restaurants or retail. I chose Jersey Mikes because I wanted free lunch! I read a bunch of reviews before ordering online and found out they are considered a more top end sub sandwich chain. I ordered the club because I wanted something that featured mayo (but you can customize any sandwich). I didn't know it automatically comes "Mike's Style" (with tomatoes, onions, and vinaigrette). I was concerned the onions would be overpowering but they weren't. I also thought there would be too much meat but it was a nice balance with the fresh crunchy lettuce and soft bread. When I went to pick it up the server was friendly and quick. The restaurant looked clean and there were a couple of groups at the tables and another group ordering. I ate my sandwich at home and it was way above what I'm used to with subs. A day later I'm still thinking about that sandwich, which is what drove me to write this review--and I hardly ever write these! read more

I went here at 4:30pm on a Tuesday and they were out of chicken salad because "the morning crew did not prep it". I walked in and the girl was sitting on her phone texting someone and didn't even see me for a couple minutes. One of the workers was on a phone call outside. There was not a single person in there. When she told me that they were out I was a bit shocked because no one was doing anything so to tell me no one "prepped it" irritated me because that's the one thing I came for and it's new so I figured they would have it stocked up or at least make more when they are sitting around doing nothing. I have been to another Jersey Mike's location and had high expectations for this one because of it. I wouldn't say this one was disappointing, but just simply wasnt the same quality as the last one. The sandwiches were good though and one of the trade marks of Jersey Mike's being the bread, the bread was top notch. It may not have been as good as the other location, but it's still high above any other chain sub shop out there. My guy and I went in to this location for another try. Let me say this visit was like night and day. The shop removed the booth seating and now there is now a clear direction to get in to order and one to exit . Much less chaotic than last visit. Pierre and his crew were very friendly and everyone had a mask and gloves on. A plus guys! I asked for the Veggie, no bell peppers, and he ordered the Club with extra mayo, same as our last visit. The order was prepared quickly as we watched and my other half even asked for salt on his sandwich and they were happy to oblige. Yea, my man is a bit odd, lol. We were happy to get our sandwiches home and let me tell you, they were delicious! This is how I remember them in Denver. Usually we've purchased sandwiches and Ed hasn't been able to enjoy due to dental issues but the kicker on this journey was when my guy said that this was the best sandwich he's had in years. This was a excellent surprise. Never been here , but it s across from our air bnb and open till nine. Got the n late and here it was. So they have white or wheat, small, med or Large. Medium is a six inch. I had the Italian. But the surprise to me was, All meat and cheese sliced on a slicer deli style off a block. Made a nice pile. Then I upgraded to Mikey s style. These subs make me nostalgic for my past, growing up on the Jersey Shore. However, unlike the sub shops on the Shore, they arrange them assembly style, whereas real New Jerseyans have their favorite sandwich artists that they frequent. That said, this is as authentic as you can get, from the shredded lettuce, to the way they pile on all of the ingredients and the dressing. I recommend getting it Mike's Way for an extra dose of authenticity. The sandwiches here are more expensive than the other chains, but they are totally worth it. The customer service here is spot on. Every person who works there is down to earth and has their own version of what the best sandwich is here. What a super great location! read more

The 4-stars is as compared to other fast-sub shops only (otherwise, overall, it'd probably get 3 or 3.5 at best) Let me start by saying my young teenagers love the steak and cheese subs here (either the #17 or the #56)... their favorites, above Subway; Jimmy John's; etc. But since I'm the critic, here are their several demerits. Ordering is easy, at the counter/cashier's with menu overhead. Not having clean and available tables is a pet peeve of mine and all too often, especially during lunch rush, this location might have a few tables available, but they've clearly been eaten on (greasy smears and crumbs everywhere). Other than that, the establishment is on par with similarly situated fast-food delis. Their bathrooms are individual, spacious and generally clean. Parking is ample and free in their lot. Fountain sodas are self-serve (but no plain seltzer available). The steak and cheese sandwiches come loaded with grilled peppers and onions (#17) or add grilled mushrooms and extra cheese (#56). The bread is a bit too thick and overwhelming, relative to the quantity of meat/filler, but it's an ideal philly sub roll otherwise (chewy). The cheese is perhaps the weak link here. It melts into a gooey, artificially sludge, not like one might imagine genuine swiss or mozzarella to be. In this sense, when compared to Fresco's subs for example, Jersey Mike's ingredients fall well short of the 5-star mark. That said, the youngsters love 'em. Table clean-up is DIY. They also have a decent club/membership which gets you deals emailed or texted to you about once a month. read more

I've visited this location twice recently. The first time I ordered carryout. I was waited on quickly. The gentlemen taking my order and ringing me up were very polite, friendly, and welcoming. I got my food quickly and it was delicious. Everything always tastes fresh and seems to be quality meats, breads, vegetables and cheeses. My favorite is the Big Kahuna steak sandwich. I think it's a bit pricey but you receive large servings. On Sunday, my son visited for the first time and ordered the Reuben. He enjoyed every last bite. This post is not based on the quality of the food. That is 5 star. However, I ordered a roast beef sub today from JMs at Broadway and Harrison in Tucson. Asked for a wheat roll. Order was for take out, so I didn't notice until I got home that it was on a white roll, not wheat. You need to make sure your staff knows that it is extremely important to follow requests. Diabetics should not be eating white bread or have regular soft drinks, for that matter. Some people have allergies to foods. But, my point is I tried sending an email to your company with my complaint, but there is no email address or link to customer service....just FAQs. So, I thought I would call the store. However, the store phone at 2:30 in the afternoon goes to a voicemail that says no one is answering calls at this time. No good JMs, NOT GOOD! read more

I was really impressed with this Hersey Mike's location tonight. My husband and I went in with another couple to get take out. My husband and I have special dietary needs so my husband got his Italian sub in a bowl and I got mine on gluten free bread. All four of us were impressed with the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the service we received. The three guys working were all super professional and friendly. Since in need to avoid gluten I was really impressed that the person who was waiting on my husband and I asked if he could make my husband's meal first so that he could change his gloves and then prepare my sandwich. While preparing my sandwich he had fresh gloves, a clean knife and a clean tray to keep my food away from the bread crumbs in the area. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to find somewhere that understands the importance of the needs of those who need to avoid gluten. I've been in many other restaurants where they either didn't understand or they simply were annoyed at having to deal with my dietary issues. Many thanks to the team there for making us all feel valued and for ensuring that I had a safe meal. Much appreciated. We will be back next time we are in Tucson. read more

This place has my favorite sub The Big Kahuna. A grilled cheesesteak sub with mushrooms peppers onions and jalapeños. It used to be AMAZING! The place had the best workers and the best customer service. Along came CV and well the entire staff changed. Things ain't what they used to be. No one greeted us for a few minutes despite them having 5-6 employees including one who was feverishly wiping down the wall right where the customers stand. She didn't even look up. Finally someone came out of the back and took our order and then we moved along to pay and get our drink cups. No one came over so we could pay, get our drinks and sit. We ended up just grabbing cups and helping ourselves, mind you we asked the 'cleaner' if we could since no one was helping us and she just looked at us and went back to cleaning. Then we tried to sit in the dining room but EVERY TABLE was dirty. 10 tables all dirty, but the baseboards are getting spotless. Sandwich comes and it's pretty good but the cheese isn't melted or mixed in like it used to be (ex. all gooey and hot and veggies mixed in). As we sat there I observed another young man come in and again no one looked up from what they were doing to greet him or acknowledge him and he was looking around like is anyone going to help me?. He even went outside for a moment and came back in and stood right where he was beforehand and finally someone spoke to him. Meanwhile cleaning girl is furiously cleaning the plexiglass not 2 feet away from him. Zero acknowledgement. You get the picture. The service is way down from what it was and the food execution is also way down. When your entire dining room is dirty but someone is cleaning the walls and baseboards I think the priorities are out of alignment. I'm hoping management sees this because what once was a great place, in a great neighborhood is noticeably sub par and whilst the ingredients/taste are still the same there is a real lack of awareness and execution when it comes to the important parts of the job. The quality and the customer experience. It's a shame because it would be really easy to fix. Will try again but now that prices are up everywhere we become more choosy about where we spend our money. read more
