For two years of my youth, I worked at a cookie store back home. For five days of my NYC trip, I ate desserts upon desserts. I was on a mission to find the best cookies in town as a gift for a friend, and Schmakery's Falcon punched me right in the face with some of the most tantalizing cookies I have ever eaten. Arguably the best in my life. In my opinion, cookies need to be soft with a slight crunchy perimeter. Sweet, but not overwhelming. Always served warm, and innovative with flavors yet simple in design. Schmakery's met all of my requirements and then blasted through my expectations with their delivery. I tried one cookie, and left with 10 cookies. Three of which I had eaten before I could even make it back to my hotel. These cookies are big, so I regret eating three? Can a chicken fly? Not really. I started with the cookie dough, then I went to the cookies and cream, and I finished with a mojito flavor. Cookies and cream was like if you took all of the best parts of an Oreo, stripped it of its mass production hinderances, and then submitted that creation to the bakery gods to receive official blessings. This was the best cookie I have ever eaten. Located slightly out of the way in Hell's Kitchen, Schmakery's might not be on the top of your list of destination places. Although, if you take a walk on the high line (highly recommend), hop off when it starts to curve west and then start walking north on 10th Ave you will be there in no time as well as burn a few extra calories to justify eating 2-4 of Schmakery's cookies in one sitting. read more

Me in not paying attention gave them more money then I was supposed too. Where I live, when you buy a train ticket they give back dollar coins. I had put in my wallet before I left the station with my other change and totally forgot about it. So when I said that I had the dollar in change I gave 2.00 by accident. I wasn't paying attention when I gave him change. So if you pay cash don't expect them to give you back change. I guess this is how they are getting their tips? I don't know. Great cookies, and that's all I remember seeing, but as I check the site they also sell different brownies, macaroons, Krispie trees, bars, and breakfast items? What?! Oh man I got to go back. I think my main recommendation is to get here early-ish, as they have hours until 11 or midnight, but I went about 10 pm and they were out of a lot of flavors on their today's flavor board. I get at end of the night you don't want to make a bunch of batches and throw them out, but it was still disappointing. I got a chocolate chip and a cookies&cream and both were huge and delicious. I am sad to say they were eaten before I could take a picture! Unfortunately for me, not all flavors are offered every day, which is a shame. Maybe it makes it more special, but it's not going to happen for me to get to the cookie place on certain days. I'd love to try the lemon poppy, red white and blueberry, and sweet corn since those sound like strange, intriguing flavors. Maybe again one day. This place is also really crowded (when I went) and they don't have a lot of room for a line that awkwardly bends around people trying to eat in house. Meh, it's NYC, space can be limited. My wife was excited to show me around New York City, she had gone about a month before by herself to see 'Kinky Boots.' This review is a little old, because we were in New York to see 'Amelie.' The staff were friendly. Even though there was a mob of people, service was fairly quick. The day we were here, I ordered a chocolate chip cookie (my go-to). We visited New York for a girls day trip and well, when i saw the birthday cookie(for my best friend) i jumped at the chance to try it out. I am not sure if this is the only location but it is off Broadway so it's a nice little walk from the hustle and bustle of town. they had a lot of cookie options that day which included both maple bacon and traditional chocolate chip i got a few) I would have got a cup of coffee but i was in a hurry. it does get busy but i can say the biggest reason is because NOBODY KNOWS WHAT TO ORDER! I definitely had high expectations coming into place due to the ratings this place got. I came in around noon, and luckily no line (it got a bit crowded soon after). I tried their classic chocolate chip cookies. Honestly they were okay. It says that there's sea salt in the cookies, but I felt it was a tad bit too salty for my liking. Like someone mentioned, these cookies were more crunchy; I was expecting moist and chewy cookies (maybe I should have came in earlier when they're fresh out of the oven). A must have for all sugar addicts. My friend brought a few of these back from Manhattan and I got my hands on the S'MORES and BUTTER PECAN flavors. S'MORES: Man, the marshmallow fluff really makes a difference. The cookie was wrapped in a to-go fashion so the topping wouldn't rub off. I peeled the wrapper back to reveal the gorgeous marshmallow fluff - slightly caramelized and torched, just the way it should be on a s'mores. The cookie itself was loaded with semi sweet chocolate chunks, bound together by a graham base. I really appreciated the sprinkling of sea salt that cut the intense sweetness of the base. BUTTER PECAN: Day 1, and I'm already done with the s'mores cookie and halfway into the butter pecan flavor. Simple but really delicious. I could taste the individual crystals of caramelized toffee. Also enjoyed the touch of sea salt here too. Would definitely come back to this place, might be my new favorite cookie shop in Manhattan. Levain is great if you like large, soft cookies with a crunchy exterior but I like that Schmackary's cookies are more compact and crispy on the outside (plus the frostings and marshmallow fluff toppings don't hurt). read more

When you bite down on these cookies they have a sandy texture because of how much sugar is in it. We tried 4 flavors and all of them were like that. The only slightly palatable one was the snickerdoodle cookie because the sugar kind of worked in that context, but even then I wouldn't have it again. Came here with a few friends for a late night post bar pick me up. The line was out the door but moved quickly. Walking in there was a delicious smell of sweet cookies that made the decision so much more harder. Single cookies cost a little over $3/each, so i decided to get the 6/$15 bundle which made me having to decide a little less difficult. Flavors included classic chocolate chips, white island macadamia nut(which is your regular macadamia nut, but with coconut), banana split, the signature schmackerdoodle, black and white (a NYC classic), funfetti, just to name a few. My friends decided to get the ice cream sandwich where you pick two cookies which are sandwiched between some soft serve vanilla ice cream. It costs $6.75. I didn't taste it, but my foodie friend stated that compared to previous visits, they skimped her on the amount of ice cream between the cookies. I also wish you had the option of what kind of ice cream goes in between the sandwiches, but nobody's perfect. The cookies themselves are pretty big and freshly made. While in line, I saw them putting out freshly made classic chocolate chip cookies out for the taking. I also took the last schmakerdoodle, so I'm sure they were getting a new batch ready as I walked out the door. The classic chocolate chip cookie definitely had a extra taste of salt that was surprisingly good.....almost reminding me of a sea salt chocolate chip cookie. The white chocolate island cookie was also delicious with its' large chocolate chunks. There's a small space with a countertop to enjoy your food inside, as well as a bench outside. The line got extremely longer as we were leaving at 11:20 pm, which was insane since this place closes at midnight. i hope they had enough cookies left for everyone. They do have a disclaimer on their menu to call ahead with orders over 2 dozen, but otherwise individual cookies, half dozen and a full dozen are available for the taking. This is a really solid cookie! A lot of times the line is very long and I've noticed that the service isn't always great (I get cookies here frequently ) but their cookies are very consistent. They are more on the salty side if you like that (I do!). The funfetti and the cookies and cream are my favorites. Some friends were in town and we were looking for a relatively inexpensive place to grab a quick snack in the Times Sq area so we could catch up, and with my go-to place already closed for the night, I yelped and found Schmackary's. The place has a cool, unassuming, youthful, happy-go-lucky aesthetic to it akin to Ben and Jerry's that sets one at ease. The cookies were 2.75$/ea and they had a good assortment. We got the half-dozen for $14 instead - The Classic, Cookies and Cream (my favourite out of the selection), Sch'mores, Hummingbird (Vegan!!), Chocolate Duet, and Cookie Dough. All were pretty good and surprisingly moist on the inside. However, it didn't have the "gooey" factor that I like from other places like Levain and Insomnia Cookies, so I can't justify anything higher than a 3.5. read more

The maple bacon had a really good flavor (you could real taste the cured bacon!), but it was a little shorter (meaning more crumbly) than my preferred texture. Still very good if you like a crispier/shortbread-y cookie! The frosted cookies and cream, on the other hand, had a really nice variety of textures - smooth, creamy frosting on top of a just-firm-enough-to-hold-with-one-handle chocolate cookie.
