Was walking from China town down to pier 14 and decided to stop into this place. It was OK. I didn't have time for food just a beer so I sat at the bar. The bar had a very large lip, it was obtrusive. Service was decent. I was maybe one of three people in the restaurant around 3 PM on Thursday. Lots of seating.

They have a great happy hour, lots of seating, tasty food, and excellent beer selection! There's a lot of TV's and they have beer hall style long shared tables. We like the lemon pepper wings - super flavorful and crispy. It also comes with a roasted lemon to squeeze more lemon on and these shishito peppers that are super tasty and not spicy at all. Service is friendly and location is very convenient downtown.

This is a German style beer hall-tavern/sports bar in downtown near/in the financial district. There is limited paid street parking and paid lots throughout the downtown area. There are less, but still some homeless in the area so be careful. The inside of the restaurant has beautiful woodwork on the floors, ceilings, bar, and tables. While service on our visit was very good, according to other Yelper's experiences, it is hit and miss depending how busy they are and who serves you. On our visit, we got the Bavarian giant pretzel, the sausage board, Diet Coke and two cocktails. They have happy Hour discounts on drinks and some American style appetizers currently M-Fri 3-5. We came in at about 6:00 so we missed it. Most other restaurants in Southern CA have more extended Happy Hour hours due to the fact that most working people cannot get there till after 5:00, so Schroeder's ought to consider extending it another hour or two. Of the two full priced cocktails we had, the Golden State of Mind was just ok, but good enough to get again. I almost asked them if they could make it without the "butterfly pea tea syrup," and would consider asking if they would do that on a future visit. The Orange Kush had a similar flavor to the Golden State of Mind, was also just ok, but not good enough to get again. Surprisingly, the diet cokes came in the small glass bottles and so were NOT refillable like at almost every other bar/restaurant around the country. For post-COVID and inflation pricing, it is insulting to customers to not offer refillable fountain drinks for the prices charged. As for the food, Schroeder's can only be compared to similar German restaurants in several other cities we have visited around the country--the Sausage Garden in Solvang is the gold standard in our experience. Schroeder's Bavarian style giant pretzel came out piping hot and was properly cooked, two things most other places fail to do. They probably have the best pretzel with the Sausage Garden and the Golden Circle sports bar in Treasure Island in Vegas having the second best. Schroeder's sausage board is actually a really good value at the current pricing--$45 for 5 sausages compared to $20 for one sausage with sides for each plate. The first five sausages on the current menu were included. However, only the Bratwurst was any good. The frankfurter, basically a hot dog, was just ok. The other sausages were really awful and not worth getting. We hate wasting food and so we choked them down, but we really disliked them. Schroeder's really ought to research the kinds of sausage and the food sourcing on the Sausage Garden's menu and copy them to improve their sausages. In terms of other ambiance issues, we were very glad to sit at the outer edge of one of the large shared tables--we do not like meeting other people at restaurants like this as other people do. There was only one other couple at the far inside end and we did not have to talk to them. Sit at the bar for less interaction if you are introverts like us or make sure to get a shared table if you want to meet some people. However the main issue was that there was a VERY large party right behind us and they were VERY loud. We believe they ordered some sort of large shots and maybe nothing else and left. Our waitress ran out of the restaurant chasing them and then we overheard her telling other waitress that the large party did not pay. On the one hand, this was surprising because they all looked like young professional business people, on the other hand was not surprising as we have witnessed multiple incidents of shoplifting in the area. Regardless of the reason, sad state of the country when young professionals are skipping out on their bill (and of course no tip) which must have been in the hundreds. Additionally, not a good situation because such incidents always have the risk of becoming violent and we don't want to be involved in that. On the whole, the 3.6 Yelp average is about right for this place. We would come back and they are worth a try for their pretzel and drinks, but avoid the sausages and soda. We think the schnitzel and other fried foods are probably a safe try.

This place makes me feel like I was transported to a place in Germany. Love the communal tables and decor. The service was prompt and the food was as outstanding. Portions are huge and filling. Definitely a place to visit.

Lots of large tables for bigger groups, I suppose it's to cater the office happy hours all around. The drinks are fine, the food is mediocre. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend the food by itself, when you are drinking and the hunger hits you, it's not too bad. So overall, a decent bar to grab some drinks, and maybe a bite, and chat away.

Went here recently for a work dinner. And the staff, especially our waiter, Samuel was very accommodating even with the last-minute extra guests. The food was good, the vibes were great, and the ambience was warm yet inviting. small gestures, like offering a taste of the beer so kindly when I wasn't sure, to constantly checking in and refilling our waters even with a super busy night are small notes I appreciate in a restaurant. This place would be good for groups as well as get-togethers. The staff took care of our group very well and all with the positive attitude

Great place for a cocktail, beer, or pretzel in FiDi. My go to is the Golden State of Mind

Listen to me now and believe me later--Schroders is THE BEST German bar, no question! From the moment you step inside, BOOM--you're hit with the smell of delicious bratwurst, the sight of massive steins of beer, and the sound of people having a great time. It's like Oktoberfest, but EVERY DAY! The beer selection? HUGE. They have all the classics--Hefeweizen, Dunkel, Pilsner--you name it! And the food? Come on! The schnitzel is crispy, the pretzels are bigger than my biceps, and the bratwurst? PERFECTION. The atmosphere is incredible--warm, inviting, and full of energy. Whether you want to relax after a long day or get PUMPED UP with friends, this is the place to be. So don't just sit there--GET TO SCHRODERS! Do it now! Prost!

The ambiance was a quiet pub on a Thursday at noon, so it was welcoming to have a lunch date. The service was very quick and friendly. The food was great! My only complaint of the whole meal was the spicy bratwurst was not spicy at all, but I have a love for spice. The kraut is delicious!

Liana was so fun, kind, and provided thoughtful service. We showed up for happy hour and I'm glad we did. The space is beautiful with large light fixtures. It looks like a beer hall, simple decor with lots of seating. We got seated and ordered a round of beer. The Oktoberfest was so good. I'm glad I tried this beer on draft. We also got some snacks. I am so glad I ordered a pretzel with the beer cheese (+$3). It was delicious, hot, and crusty. The beer cheese was incredible! I'll be back for more tasty treats.

It's been ages since we have been here, so we were excited to stop in for lunch last week. It was fairly quiet when we stopped in on a Friday afternoon, and we grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. This restaurant continues to feature all the fun German beers that you can't necessarily find elsewhere. Also a good selection of some fun localish beers (henhouse is always a fav). I went with the big chicken (for the high abv, I was surprised this was served in a stein, but not complaining). On to the food, love that they have a lunch special - pick an appetizer, main dish, and a cookie is included for dessert! I went with the mixed green salad, and the jager schnitzel, which was generously portioned and came with garlic mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, mushroom gravy and lingonberry jam. Very glad I ordered the salad with it, as the main dish was generously portioned, a bit on the heavier side, but absolutely delicious, and a great representation of German food.

    Great place for celebrations!

Super fun environment. Reminds me of being in Munich for Oktoberfest. Came here for a Big Game Luncheon (Cal/Stanford rivalry football game). Food was excellent, bar service was great and overall vibe was very fun! It's in the heart of downtown San Francisco and has been here for as long as I can remember! Definitely check it out - even more fun with a big group!

I mean perfection. The avocado was fresh and plentiful on the delicious sourdough bread, which held up. There was some kind of cole slaw/radishes on top that were pefect addition - very tasty. And the breakfast potatoes - I am not a fan of this style, but these were so darn good, perfectly seasoned and cooked, they were absolutely amazing. Eggs Benedict - hubby said it was awesome, English muffins held up and the eggs were perfect, delicious hollandaise. Eggs and Bacon = really tasty bacon, but not my son's cup of tea - he is not the maple/applewood smoked kinda guy, he likes his bacon plain, but I found it delicious, more for mom. Like everywhere, you can tell they are understaffed and have to hustle. I do not envy the service industry these days, expectations to do more with less and deal with rude tourists and entitled people. Boris, our server was awesome - very kind, we sat for a bit as he tended to other tables, but I could sit in that restaurant and stare all day long, it is that cool. Highly recommend, another stop for our city adventures!
