First, Sophia at the front desk welcomed me warmly, even though I was a walk-in without an appointment. She treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine respect from the moment I arrived. I was then brought into an exam room promptly and efficiently, where I met Jackie, the medical assistant. She was courteous, thorough, and made me feel comfortable throughout the visit. Finally, I was seen by Vinnie, the physician assistant, who was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain all of my options for having a cyst removed. He answered my questions, never made me feel rushed, and ensured I understood the treatment plan. The entire visit exceeded my expectations. Lovely office staff. However, my experience with both the doctor and two pas there were less than stellar The doctor spent 5 minutes with me and walked out. I honestly don't think they know what they're doing. Dr doctor gives me an injection into what is a supposed cyst. Pa tells me that's not a cyst an injection won't work. She barely addressed the problem that I came in for which was an allergic rash. I went home with a cream that didn't work and it continued to spread. When I tried to call to ask for help, it is impossible to speak through a human being. I had to leave a message and it's been more than 24 hours and nobody has called me back. So I went online and I found a dermatologist at General Medicine. He spent 30 minutes with me. He immediately put me on Prednisone and I'm finally feeling relief. I won't go back to schweiger. It's a waste of time and a pretty hefty copay with absolutely no results. Unfortunately schweiger is the only game in town. Go online and find yourself a dermatologist. read more

ZERO STARS! I scheduled what was clearly listed as an "annual skin check" through Zocdoc and reasonably believed this would be treated as preventive care. At no point during booking, check-in, or the visit was I told that this would be billed as a standard specialist office visit instead. I only learned this after receiving a bill. When I contacted the office, I was told dermatology visits are never billed as preventive -- something that was never disclosed beforehand. Patients deserve transparency about how appointments are classified and billed. If a visit is going to be treated differently than how it's presented during scheduling, that should be clearly communicated upfront. This experience felt misleading and unnecessarily frustrating. I would strongly encourage anyone booking an "annual skin check" here to ask very detailed billing questions in advance so you're not surprised later. read more

I don't want to be on my phone to keep track of the possibility of them cancelling on me. I wouldn't text them to cancel. If this is the kind of impersonal care you enjoy receiving-then go ahead. My husband was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma A WEEK AGO from the Utica office. No call. No message. Just the results in the portal. No setting up surgery. You guys waiting until it goes deeper? I don't care that it is considered a not "as serious" cancer. Like what is wrong with your practice? I would like to add that the doctor was not even going to do a biopsy until it was insisted upon! He barely looked at it and then just sloughed it off as nothing and was happy to try to usher him out the door. read more

I chose Schweiger (Upper West Side office) because I was told it would accept my insurance (Medicare/Emblem/Athem). The doctor who saw me (Fendelman) was fine. But I was billed the full amount -- and my supplementary paid nothing. I tried several times to speak to someone -- in person -- about WHY this happened. Finally I mailed a letter to Schweiger asking to be called with an explanation. No response to my letter. But I kept getting overdue notices, so I just gave up -- and paid $254 for my 5-minute visit. I have mixed feelings about this practice. I go to the millburn one, formerly millburn laser center. Gail mautner is an excellent doctor and cured my rosacea. She is also the BEST at Botox. However since the takeover by Schweiger she can't spend as much time. She is a nice woman and I would have given her 10 stars before. However I also ran into issues w my scalp and I felt she was blaming me for them. (Eg you are not doing what I am telling you. when I did and it wasn't working!) That said, she is a good doctor. Dr. Siegel please avoid, no doctor has ever made me feel worse. Truly condescending. Actually left me crying in his office and went to work on his laptop. True story. I go to the garden city location for laser hair removal and the provider - Ariel, is very friendly and knowledgeable, I am seeing reduced hair growth for my underarms, she recommended the exact amount of sessions. I also got hair removal in my face under my chin, it is significantly reduced, she also puts sun screen as a aftercare for the weather before I leave the office. I only wish she had more morning availability for appointments. I would recommend laser hair removal at this office, it is quick and easy. I won't say it's painless because it's still hair removal, but I guess it's better than waxing or threading on the face. I have been going for a couple months and only have touch up sessions left, I would definitely recommend laser hair removal with this particular group and provider. read more

Just getting someone on the phone who is professional is impossible. And their phone lines that bounce to a call center ... the worst. Their phone lines and the agents answering the phone are untrained. They need training DESPERATELY. It shows that it's JUST A JOB FOR THEM ... they TAKE NO PRIDE in what they're doing. I feel sorry for some of the drs, pas and employees because they get the short end of the stick. I like this particular PA and I want to make an appt with her ... but the people answering the phone lack the knowledge needed. I told them I wanted a certain procedure called sofwave. She said they didn't have sofwave ... they had another procedure that sounded very similar to sofwave. I know the PA told me that they do this procedure. I finally hung up because the call line was so bad ... going in and out for the rep ... and I was calling from a good old fashion landline... I'm the customer rep wasn't giving me the right information. This is NOT the first time it happened. Once I wanted to make an appt ... and the call kept getting disconnected. It's too difficult to make a simple appointment. Then once they called me confirming an appt that was canceled. I used to run drs offices. They ran like a clock. This is ridiculous ... and unprofessional. Looks like I may have to find someone different to take care of me. A private practice tends to give a patient the TLC that is lost on this place, ... Oh well ..... EZ come .... EZ go. EDIT: I looked on their website and they DO have the procedure. I wish I could upload a picture because I took a screen print from the page. These kids don't even know the products / procedures in the offices. It's terrible. Horribly unprofessional. I tried calling again. I want to speak to the office directly. I don't want to speak to the call centers. And I'm home today taking care of these things. She said she'd have the office call me back. I asked her when they'd be calling me back she said "tomorrow". Well I won't be home tomorrow.. I'm trying to take care of this today and I can't even call and speak to an office directly. I have to wait for them to get back to me. This isn't the way we operated in the old world. We got directly into the office made the appointment and said thank you goodbye. It took 5 minutes. As a health care professional I would never recomend dr Sandhu Sumeet. I went april 30 because of allergies (new) to me. She spent not even 10 min instructed labs which I stated will be done by Northwell she said ok. Six calls 2 texts. No response. Finally the patients representative on 5/7 stated I need to sign a release to obtain records and have a portal something i should have been instructed in the begining via a link. 10 hours on May 7 I called Northwell labs results emailed to me in for days they said. Dr Sandhu stating they cannot have the labs!!! Northwell disagreed. She needs more experience in patient care. I will definitively not recomend her. I might add she was made aware that most of my family members are in health care. DO NOT HAVE HER AS AN ALLERGIST . PRACTICE AT GARDEN CITY OFFICE. TERRIBLE MANNERS AND NEGLIGENT!!!!! I am writing this review over a year after my appointment, as I waited this long hoping the resulting scar would fade. Unfortunately, the scar remains a permanent fixture on my cheek. I initially booked an appointment based on strong reviews, hoping to address two tiny, pimple-like bumps on my right cheek. The office was extremely crowded, and the atmosphere felt very rushed. Before the procedure to remove the bumps for testing, I was asked to sign a waiver. Crucially, I verbally confirmed with the office staff that there would be no scarring from the removal process.Despite this assurance, the doctor spent less than five minutes with me. I felt the process was highly rushed. A day later, I felt discomfort in one of the treated areas. Today, the scar from one of the removed bumps is clearly visible. I believe, due to the fast and seemingly careless nature of the removal, a significant chunk of skin was scraped off, causing permanent damage. My opinion is that this doctor and practice specialize heavily in cosmetic injections and may not prioritize general dermatology patients. The lack of patient interaction and rushed approach (less than five minutes total) resulted in a negative, permanent outcome for a minor issue. I would advise caution for anyone seeking general skin care or non-injection procedures here. read more

Be cautious moving forward with this company. When I asked explicitly about the cost of a small, routine procedure, I was told it would only cost me a copay. I also checked website prior to the procedure and it states that lab work happens in house with a $100 charge if you don't have insurance. I do have insurance. Both of these data points about billing from Schweiger Dermatology were incredibly misleading. My experience in dealing with followup unexpected bills from a third party laboratory have been horrific. I ended up with an unexpected bill of $631.72 from an external lab and there have been no straightforward answers from the company. It has been extremely difficult getting straight forward answers due to the company's third party phone service. Three months later, I am still trying to get to the bottom of my unexpected $631.72 bill from an external lab, and my window of time to expect a response any time I am left with a question is a 24-48 hour window. The day of my procedure, the office was overbooked and the staff seemed confused, overwhelmed, and frustrated with lack of communication between upstairs and downstairs office. This was easy enough to overlook. I thought my doctor, Laura Baker had a good bedside manner and put me at ease during my time with her. My follow up appointment had me waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time. Also, not unheard of in a busy doctor's office. Great doctor, terrible billing department. I went for an appointment recently and received a bill shortly thereafter which I paid through a bank pull immediately. Schweiger is listed on the bank transaction. Today I received a notice that the bill is unpaid. Their customer service team told me I need to provide proof of payment through some other process even though they are listed as the firm who withdrew the amount. Fixing their terrible accounting should not be my problem but theirs. If they escalate this further and try to do something to my credit I will be coming after them legally. My son had an 8:00 am appointment for a simple stitch removal at the Northfield, NJ location. We arrived at 7:55 am and were the third patient to check in. Despite this, patients with later appointment times (8:30 am and 8:40 am) were brought back before us. At 8:20 am, I asked when we would be seen and was told "soon." I reiterated that we had an 8:00 am appointment and was told patients were taken in the order they checked in--despite clear evidence that this was not happening. We then overheard the receptionist telling the medical assistant that the wrong charts had been pulled, which explained the delay. By 8:30 am, we again asked for an update and were told the medical assistant would see us next. When the medical assistant, Dawn, finally brought us back, she did not introduce herself. When my son calmly mentioned that we had been waiting for some time, her response was that she was "allergic to rude people." This comment was unprofessional and inappropriate, particularly toward a patient. My son immediately left the room and declined care from her. Dawn then claimed she was not given the opportunity to introduce herself, despite the fact that her first interaction was to reprimand the patient. Another staff member--who was also a medical assistant--stepped in, apologized, and offered to complete the stitch removal. She advised us to contact the office manager regarding the incident. This visit demonstrated poor scheduling practices and unacceptable staff behavior. For a routine appointment, this experience was unnecessarily stressful and handled very poorly. read more

Reposting cuz initial review got deleted!!! I came to this office to treat what Christie told me was sebaceous hyperplasia between my eyes. She treated it several times with cautery but after it became red and irritated, I went to another dermatologist (from the same practice, just a different location) who confirmed it was actually a mole -- something that should never have been treated that way. And because it was treated that way, it could now be permanently red and inflamed. But what made this whole situation worse was Christie'smedical assistant, who was unbelievably rude, dismissive, and gaslighting. When I called the office, (first of all It's impossible to get through to the office. You have to get through a call center and wait on hold for 30 minutes and then eventually you get a representative who says the office will call you back) Christie's assistant just insulted my face saying it had too many problems, acted like I was stupid for questioning them, and tried to convince me they didn't "cauterize the mole," even though I watched and felt it happen. Like then did it zap itself then? I actually ended up crying after that call -- when you already feel self-conscious about your skin, having someone in a medical office insult you and talk down to you like that is humiliating. It was one of the most unprofessional and hurtful experiences I've ever had in a medical setting. I would never recommend this office to anyone who values respect, honesty, or proper care. Deceptive billing - they won't bill ANYTHING as preventive care. I made a horrible, $700 dollar mistake going to these crooks. I went for a skin cancer screening which should've been covered by my insurance 100%, and earned me a $550 reward to my HSA from my company. Was hit with a $150 bill AND missed out on the $550. Called them to resolve and their unfriendly rep told me that their policy is to not bill anything as preventive and that was their policy. I did fight to get my 2 copayments reinbursed. The office should have checked with insurance company before me showing up for nothing. I had a very good experience here. I felt I was listened to and was pleased with the treatment I received.

First, have a rash that will not go away. Tried the "allergy" people. They told me they could figure this out. After numerous skin test and blood tests--NOTHING! Totally useless. They only want to give my immunosuppressing drugs. I am not taking them, told them repeatedly. So then I want one brown spot removed and I have some skin tags. It used to cost $50 for the first cosmetic item and something after. Now, first is $160!!! and $20 after that. It would cost me $440!! That is insane. People have issues now with high drug prices and no insurance--this is disgusting! I will find some over the counter product to use. read more

I had an issue with something on my skin and wanted it check, I was given an appointment with Svetlana Reyblat. After waiting over 30 mins pass my appointment , she came in looked at the issue. Told me she doesn't know my history (been going there over 5 years, so the history is in the file ,she should have told me she couldn't be bothered to look at my history). Horrible phone service. Never able to call and speak with anyone. After having a mole removed and tested, i received a vm to call them back. I called and left message for 3 days in a row before finally receiving a call back 4 days later to tell me my test was positive and i needed to have it removed with Mohs surgery. I have had post surgery issues but there is not 'after hours' number to call. Unable to call and speak with a human directly at their phone number. Forced to always leave a message. They never answer their phones. Service has plummeted since being bought by Schweiger Dermatology. Will be forced to look for a new dermatologist in CT. read more

Schweiger is all the bad things about modern for-profit medicine. They don't want you speaking to a person, its all apps and texting. Appointments are done as fast as possible to get as many patients and as much money as possible. God forbid you have a question. Skin exams are all about finding something that they can cut out surgically. I tried to have a skin exam and moles removed in the same visit. That couldn't be done, I had to have two visits and two fees. read more

I scheduled a dermatology appointment with Schweiger and faxed over my insurance card beforehand to confirm coverage. They told me I was covered by my northwell insurance and they are northwell doctors. They said I would only need to pay a $40 copay. Later, I received a $750 bill stating that my insurance was not accepted, and tgey are second tier. When I called to resolve it, the billing department denied any responsibility and said I was liable for the full amount. My insurance company has mentioned hearing similar complaints about their billing practices. Very disappointing and misleading experience. read more

The worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. Several appointments schedule then no record of said appointments I had to wait three months for something that really needed to be handled. I finally get an appointment show up and am told oh no we don't do that procedure . Come back a week later wait for 30 minutes after when scheduling I told them I had to be at work at a certain time. This is quite possibly the worst dermatology office in existence. They are so wildly disorganized and have been having issues with their billing center where I have received multiple statements after billing and keep getting calls saying I need to pay - all resulting with me having to re-explain that it's THEIR SYSTEM that has the issue and every call ends in "opsie sorry this will be rectified", and then it is never rectified lol. Additionally, they charge a $125 DOLLAR NO SHOW - which A. that price is excessive and B. since they are so wildly disorganized, I had an experience where I rescheduled my appointment and they actually didn't cancel my original appointment so I got charged. There's no real way to prove this since I rescheduled in person and have been going in circles with their "support" team for months (I use the word support very lightly) trying to get rid of the charge but of course they just tell me their executives need to look over my case. They literally couldn't care less. The amount of time I've spent talking to their support/billing is actually laughable. I urge you to save your time and money and go literally anywhere else. This place is an actual joke. Could not recommend them less. read more

A while ago I saw nurse practitioner Rachel Zelman at this practice, and she was very good, though seemed slightly rushed. Is that a thing at Schweiger, btw? She helped with an issue, and it was a good experience. The front desk people are also nice. Months later, I wanted to have an old mole checked, as well as a callus style of thing on my hand that had recently appeared. I decided to book with a doctor just in case anything needed to be removed or biopsied. The doctor at this practice is Dr. Moraru, and I was concerned by the almost equal mix of positive and negative reviews for him online, but figured these were simple things to have checked out....right? Wellllll.... Dr. Moraru is like a ghost. He appears behind the PA out of nowhere, doesn't converse, and replies to questions without expression. He spends the barest amount of time with you, then slips away without a word. It's the strangest thing. He looked at my hand and said my callus thing was a wart....huh? I've googled as many photos of different types of warts as possible, and shown friends, and this was not a wart. But at the time I thought, ok, he's seen lots of things, maybe it's a freak wart? Or maybe freezing will get rid of the callus at the least. So I let him freeze it. He told me I should bandage it, though he didn't offer me one. He said to make another appointment to freeze it again until it was gone. The "wart" turned into a blister, then dried out, then the skin came off. It seemed fine until the skin around the area puffed up, which didn't seem normal to me. It seemed like some sort of reaction. I bandaged it dutifully for weeks, and the skin at the front of my lower thumb became red, irritated, and cut up from the bandage adhesive. By the time I went back to the doctor, the skin was red and irritated, but my cuts had healed. When I saw Dr. Moraru again, things took the most bizarre turn. He said my "wart" needed to be frozen again despite nothing being there. He said nothing about the puffiness, which I thought was odd. He froze it, and seemed to take longer than before. When I got my hand back, he not only froze the original "wart", he froze the irritated red skin the bandages caused!!! I was shocked. He didn't examine my hand, nor did he tell me he wanted to freeze another area. If he had, I'd have told him NO. I asked why he did it, and he said me there was a wart there (??????!!!!!!!!!!), as they spread easy. He said again to cover them up with bandages, and to come back. In my shock, I made an appointment, but cancelled a few days later. The original "wart" area wasn't too bad, and the new blister dried quickly and fell off, but the front of my thumb turned into a giant blister that was extremely painful. It burst on its own after two days, and the skin collapsed around what was a deep wound. It hurt a lot, and started to become infected, so I had to start dressing it with antibiotic cream several times a day. I thought I would need to go to urgent care, but as "luck" would have it, I ended up on antibiotics for something else, and that helped the wound to finally start healing. All in all, it took a month to heal, and I now have a big ugly red scar on my hand. This whole thing has been perplexing, as I don't know if he's a quack or just trying to keep patients coming for insurance money. I've learned my lesson about this office, however, and I won't ever be back. read more
