I've been a patient for over a decade. Last year, I saw a new dermatologist at the practice to treat a recurring painful condition. I've sought treatment for this condition dozens of times over the years. Without advanced warning, the practice billed this procedure as cosmetic vs medical, resulting in a large bill. When I called to discuss, the practice was abrupt and rude. The procedure has always been classified as a medical issue. I'm now a patient at Central Park South Dermatology. Their practitioners are wonderful and incredibly upfront about billing. read more

I've been coming here for years, I never liked the super corporate atmosphere but did have a good experience with a physician assistant. But the private equity cut costs no matter what ethos has gotten out of control. Doctors barely look at you, I've taken elevator rides longer than some of my visits. And the receptionists have been replaced with a call center in god knows where. Making an appointment is so awkward now, everyone is a little rude and pushy and speaks englsih in a weird, overly formal way. read more

I was seen by a physician at one of their NJ offices. Either he or his assistant sent in a prescription for me incorrectly. I had some irritation on my upper lip and he said he would prescribe a cream. I remained fully clothed during the exam. When I went to the pharmacy to pick it up, the Package Instructions said to "Apply to scrotum 2 x's daily as needed" Apparently his medical assistant doesn't know the difference between a PHILTRUM and a Scrotum, And he didn't bother to check the visit notes for accuracy. Don't they have to review and sign orders? Did he send in the prescription incorrectly or have an assistant do it for him. PHILTRUM is the vertical groove or cleft in the midline of the upper lip, extending from the base of the nose to the top of the lip. A PHILTRUM is ON a persons FACE!! -- NOT GENITALS!!! So now that medical error has been automatically, electronically added to every other system myChart 'Portal', and every encounter I have i am asked if I am still applying "that cream." Its very embarrassing and humiliating. I have been unable to get it removed from myCharts. Meanwhile Schweigers office keeps autodialing/ contacting me to return for follow up visits. I have serious concerns for what other anatomical mix ups could occur and how dangerous it could be. So I can not recommend this group when there are so many better choices in Northern NJ. was referred by downtown office for vein treatment. Twice I spoke to someone to verify that the Dr Hibler treats veins and was told I need to pay $200 to ask the doctor/see the doctor first including the day of appt at the front desk. The doctor and his nurse and the assistant office manager were kind enough but then offered to do skin tightening instead at an astronomical price and could not guarantee it would treat the veins and stated another doctor in office treats veins. Would not transfer the consult fee to that doctor nor refund or discount the fee for the 14 minute with wait time visit that I had when consults are 30 minutes or longer for that fee. I was willing to pay half the fee even though the visit and my commute of 1 hr round trip was a waste of time. read more

Absolutely awful patient treatment. Went in for an annual check up. Evangelina Nezis barely looked at my skin for a total of 30 seconds, did not get a closer look at my moles. AND charged me for a cosmetic procedure when she initially said that she would do a test on one mole to assess the pain tolerance of the laser. Never said I would be charged for testing it. Had to fight their office for months because they would not provide the necessary info to my insurance. Completely dishonest and fraudulent activity. read more

Account # CB019MQ18-99203-20220202 Hi there, I received a letter from Wakefield & Associates (debt collection agency) regarding a fraudulent bill from Schweiger Dermatology. I would like to dispute the entire bill of $73.93. For context, while I booked an appointment at Schweiger Dermatology for February 02, 2022, their system never registered my appointment. When I showed up there was no doctor available to see me nor any slots available. I was asked to wait in an empty room for over an hour, after which an employee came in, handed me a generic pamphlet and subsequently discharged me within 1-2 minutes. He did not speak to me about any of my medical concerns and was also not the doctor whom I had specifically booked an appointment with. For all I know, he was likely not a licensed medical professional. On my way out, I reported this incident to Schweiger Dermatology, upon which they suggested they would be open to me being rescheduled with a competent medical professional at a future date i.e. the same original gentleman I had booked the appointment with . Considering they wasted my entire day, I declined their offer. Subsequently, I received a bill of $250.00, which I disputed in its entirety. Two years later, I received an adjusted bill from Schweiger for $73.93. I called their billing department for an explanation and was passed on to some offshore personnel (likely based in the Philippines or Mexico), who admitted that Schweiger messed up my original appointment and hence is presenting to me a revised lowered bill. I disputed the bill again as I didn't get any benefit from the appointment and in fact, it was a complete waste of my day and time for which I should be charging Schweiger. In addition Schweiger team also fraudulently billed my insurance company. The billing personnel claimed that (1) she understands the issue at hand but does not have the prerequisite training or authority to deal with this situation, (2) does not have access to a supervisor nor (3) is able to provide me with the contact for the lead person in charge of billing and customer service. Keeping in view the above, I would once again like to dispute this bill in its entirety. Yelp asks me to rate your team and minimally requires me to put 1 Star, although your team doesn't even deserve that. read more

Shocking lack of professionalism found in this mega-practise. I saw a PA, (or maybe she was an NP) for some dry scaly itchy patches on my face and was diagnosed with seborrhoea and prescribed a cream. When the pharmacy informed me that the cream was not covered by insurance and would cost $1,700 I called Schweiger and asked if the PA would send-in an Rx for an alternate med. I have so far called 3 times, and nothing! I even received a promise from the last person I spoke to that she would personally get back to me the next day - again, nothing! No new script sent to pharmacy, no returned call...NOTHING! This latest event comes after the Dr I was seeing there told me to stop taking showers. Yes, once a month was often enough in his opinion. Washing-off dead skin and odour-causing bacteria is not a priority to him. And I had been a patient (customer more like) at this business since around 2009, shortly after they opened. (I was actually a patient of Dr Schweiger's previous to his opening this business, but running this giant multi-state business takes all his time these days). I stopped using them for cosmetic concerns earlier this year because they instituted a $200 deposit be posted ahead of any procedure. In other words, pay before being seen! Even if the scheduled procedure would cost less than $200 dollars, the left-over amount on deposit is not going to be returned. It just stays on deposit. Is this deposit in an escrow account? Is it earning interest for you? No, it is just collected and held by this business - do they make interest on all the deposits they collect??????? You might indeed believe so. Add the cosmetic deposit to the insane Dr, and the lazy PA..... This is a money-making-first business with sloppy patient/customer care. It is a dermatology factory. I am looking for a new - competent - dermatologist now. I can no longer lower my standards by continuing to go here. read more

Made an appointment online and says it's on the 14th floor. When I get there, the floor was empty with a sign saying don't trespass or alarm will be raised. I stood there like an idiot, wondering where was I gonna go now. I tried calling, but no pick-up. I look online for the address and it says 13th floor. So I get there only for them to tell me it's on the 19th floor! Just tell your patients ahead of time, please! I also saw Dr. Greenfield for less than 5 minutes. She explained the short procedure and asked if I have questions while lowering the chair. I couldn't even gather my thoughts. Never again with this practice. read more

I do not recommend coming here for any sort of dermatologist need. They will rush your visit, prescribe over the counter medicine you can search yourself on Google and then recommend you find treatment with a different doctor that specializes with your needs. That was my experience with a bill worth $150 for absolutely inadequate service. I should have listened to the poor reviews for this place. I have seen PA Laura Palmisano at this practice for a few years now and have always been very happy. She helped with adult acne that I dealt with in the past, does an annual preventative skin cancer screening, and takes care of whatever else I need. Despite other comments about administrative issues or having trouble getting through, I have not had a problem. Everyone is polite, and the office is clean. Go see Laura--she is great! read more

I didn't enjoy the experience I had. I saw the PA Kendra at the Flatiron location in New York after trying to meet with Sumayah Jamal on two separate occasions, but had the appointments canceled twice a day before I was scheduled to meet with her. The bedside manner was not the best and I felt rushed. Treatment options weren't given to me other than the first line of defense being laser treatment. I had topical recommendations that I asked her about and we finally decided on one, but that was only because I went there with my own notes. read more

I went in for a consultation for acne scarring. I was recommended to get the F.A.S.T laser. I was assured by Julie Guessin that this was the laser I wanted to get during the consultation. I'm in my early 30's, African American, and I have darker skin with multiple types of deep acne scarring. This was all assessed during the consultation, and I was still told to get the F.A.S.T laser. I spent $4000 and got the procedure done with no result. I complained to them about this and and went in to take before and after photos. I was told that they can't predict the outcome of how the laser would work for people and individual results would vary. They gave me my before and after photos which were from a low quality camera and looked blury. In fact, they looked like they were digitally altered to give the appearance of improvement. I was offered another treatment which gave me the same outcome. After wards I went to other doctors who specialize in scarring. They told me that no laser would have a big affect on me. Reasons being, I'm African American and lasers don't work well on darker skin because they have to use a lower setting to avoid burning. I have different types of scars which would need different types of treatments, and because my scars are deep and lasers don't penetrate that far. This company would have had to know this. Especially considering they've used this laser for years on multiple skin types. They intentionally took my money knowing it wouldn't work and gave me false claim and hope. On top of this being a very expensive procedure, there is also a great deal of down time and it is extremely painful. This was all for nothing. If it worked as well as they wanted you to believe it did, the reviews would speak for itself. I couldn't find any positive reviews on their laser but I saw a handful of negative ones. This company is just good at advertising. * I believe this company has made two pages on yelp for the same location in order to attempt to help drown out all of the negative reviews they get. If you look at their other yelp page for midtown east, you will see their rating is much lower. read more

Schweiger Dermatology group is the worst experience I've ever had in a "medical office". To start they came in and started speaking to me about the wrong patients information, violating HIPAA. I was waiting on the results of a biopsy for two weeks. After many attempted calls with no response I had to go in person and when I asked to speak with a nurse I was told no and someone would call. At this point I've been trying to get my medical records from them to go to a real practice for two weeks now and have not heard back. I really didn't like that I had my dermatologist appointment and I had two students in the room without being asked if I would be comfortable with this. I was getting a full body skin cancer screening by the doctor. This really was off putting and I'm very disappointed. Doctors should always ask patients alone - without students or other staff that are studying. I also felt very overwhelmed by signs in the bathroom for skin testing and resting for Botox and lip injections. I feel like if a teenager is going to the restroom, it's not the best example. It is a concern that they aren't qualified, nor have they ever treated darker skin pigmentation. Absolutely terrible. I went to have an annual skin check and discuss some concerns. The doctor absolutely disregarded my concerns despite a history of skin cancer in my family. He also didn't check my armpits, scalp, or breasts which was just careless and negligent. I had two areas biopsied and he gave me zero warning that I was receiving a shot or that it would hurt. Zero real aftercare instructions other than "apply aquaphore" and now one of the sites is infected and guess what... all their offices are closed with no one on call because it is a day before the holiday weekend.... the guy on the phone told me to go to the emergency room. This is the first place I call for all my dermatological questions. I recently had a televisit with Brittney Danberry. I had some pre-surgery dermatological concerns. Brittney patiently answered all my questions. Additionally, I literally have asked over 10 doctors albeit only one dermatologist over the last 10 years or so why my red scars linger for so much more time than when I was younger. Most told me it is nothing concerning. Brittney immediately identified this skin condition (PIH). It is something I have been looking for an answer on for a long time. The doctor I saw last week was super curt with me, injected an area, and left without addressing my needs further. Then, I saw Julie, who is awful. Wow where to begin. My visit was on time, the Dr was professional and took care of what needed to be done in a professional manor. Then things went south, I was asked to pay upfront for a deductible when I had already spoken to the office manager about being billed for any upfront charges.I was then told by the same person ( office administrator, front desk rep) in a very nasty tone: "ok I will talk to my billing department have a nice day !" This soured an otherwise excellent dermatology appointment. And I was going to just go about my day. That is until I called up my pharmacy to check on the status of my prescription, and I was told that my prescription had just been cancelled by this office! Whoever called and cancelled my prescription said it had too be cancelled due to insurance fraud. My insurance is legitimate and in-network and I'm sure the office will be charging my insurance quite a bit (excluding my deductible). What insurance fraud? They are in-suiting that I committed a crime. This is beyond unprofessional, this is malpractice. I will be reporting them to the Better business bureau. The shame of it is the Dermatologist I saw was thorough and excellent. read more

The receptionist/assistant at the front desk was very helpful, polite and professional. The doctor was extremely thorough in her examination of me. If you go to Schweiger Laura Palmisano is the best! I went to several top renowned laser and Botox specialists the first 5 years in NY, and then met Laura who I have now been a patient of for 15 yrs. I go to whatever practice she works out of. I'm in the beauty industry I know and see some bad and overpriced procedures. Laura has an amazing aesthetic, and with skin tightening procedures has reversed and then maintained and improved upon the symmetry of my face for the last 15 years. Laura completely eliminated my need for Botox ever again. Her personality is magnetic, but the trust you build very special. Laura cured my sons acne which was bad, which enabled him to go on to get a modeling contract to help get him through college. Laura is highly sort after for her top injecting skills, but for me her skills with lasers is life changing. read more

Overall, the experience I had with administration and wait times was extremely disappointing, however, my experience with the plastic surgeon, Dr. Churgin was very pleasant. I had a cyst forming on the bridge of my nose, just below my eye, and first saw Dr. Seibt at the Midtown west location. He referred me to what he called the "plastics person" and had me schedule a second appointment for the removal. The assistant took a picture of the cyst for my chart records. At my second visit, the assistant brought me back and said "so you're here to have the cyst removed from your knee today?" And I said no, and explained I was here for the cyst removal from my nose. She then said she didn't think the provider would be able to remove that type of cyst, as I was scheduled with a PA. She said they must have lost the picture, so they took an additional picture for my chart records. When the PA came in, she said she would be able to remove the cyst, but that I would have a better outcome if I saw a plastic surgeon who performed these of procedures more frequently and therefore had more experience. She said if it was her as a patient, she would opt to see a plastic surgeon. Therefore, I agreed to schedule a third visit with the plastic surgeon. When I scheduled the third visit with the front desk, I asked if the visit would be for the removal. However, I was told that I would first need a consult. I questioned why I would need a consult, when it was already identified that I would need a cyst removal, and also was concerned with the multiple copays I was paying at each of these visits. I was assured by the front desk that there would be no copay at my consult visit. By the way, I was not informed that my third visit would be at a different location, the 110 E 55th street location, however I later found this out after receiving an email reminder. At the third visit, I had to wait over an hour for the consult, which was very frustrating, as when I asked the front desk for an update of when they would see me, they would tell me it was just 10 more minutes. Of course, once I finally saw Dr. Churgin, she confirmed that I would need the cyst removed, and advised me to schedule the procedure. I was disappointed to find out that I was charged again for another copay for the consult visit, after being told it was no charge. Since I waited over an hour to be seen, I asked if my next visit would have a similar wait time, as I needed to plan my schedule with work. They assured me that the wait time was unusual and that another procedure took more time than they thought and that I would be seen on time. At my fourth visit, the removal (finally!), at checkin, I asked again what the wait time would be so I could plan accordingly. They told me I would be seen right away for my appointment. The assistant did take me back to a treatment room about 5 minutes after my appointment, and had me sign a consent form. However, I then proceeded to wait an additional hour, alone in a treatment room until they finally came in to tell me that I would be moved to the procedure room. The actual procedure took 5-10 minutes, and was painless. I was adequately numb, and Dr. Churgin made me feel comfortable. She was very professional and gentle, and gave me post op instructions, and I was to return in a week for the sutures to be removed. I of course had a long wait time at my fifth visit as well. In summary, my experience with Dr. Churgin was overall pleasant, however the wait times are absurd and the staff is disorganized. It was absolutely unnecessary to have 5 visits for this procedure. If your time is valuable, I don't recommend this office, or recommend planning accordingly, and be prepared for long wait times. read more

Up till this point, I had been coming to Schweiger dermatology for years with last minute appointments for cortisone injections when suffering from the occasional breakout. No longer. I called in to make an appointment for an acne facial about a week prior to coming in, and confirmed my date and time with the concierge on the phone before putting it in my calendar. I arrived about 45 minutes early for my appointment for a smooth checking process, only to be told that they had cancelled my appointment because they had booked the microdermabrasion with someone who didn't do microdermabrasion (not sure why this wouldn't pop up when scheduling a facial). They allegedly called once before cancelling, but I had no missed calls from them when I checked my phone. The situation and my future as a customer could still have been saved if they had recognized their inefficiencies instead of claiming it "wasn't them" and offered to rebook my appointment themselves. I'm forgiving when people try. Instead of a sincere apology for allowing me to waste precious time in my busy day or being helpful, the receptionist merely shrugged her shoulders and said that I should call in to the call center if I wanted to try (again) for an appointment (hopefully this one wouldn't be cancelled on me without my knowledge). As I booked the appointment with just enough recovery time before an event I was hosting, I was left completely in the lurch by Schweiger, and will not risk entrusting them with my skincare in the future. The two stars are for previous services rendered, because this experience was so horrible it deserved none. read more
