Do not go to this practice. I had a terrible experience today with my daughter that highlights the extremely poor customer service at this location. Having just started with a new insurance 4/1, my coverage was not showing as active quite yet. Rather than treat my daughter & bill me or my insurance once active, the office ignored us, mistreated & humiliated us, refusing to help or treat us. Your face is not something you get a second chance with, and my experience here left me uncomfortable proceeding with any cosmetic treatment. Schweiger Dermatology's repeated cancellations, disorganization, and dismissive attitude toward my time made me seriously question whether they would show the precision and care required for procedures that can permanently affect your face. I scheduled an appointment with Emilie Fowler on 2/16/2026, completed intake forms, and waited 20 minutes, only to be told by Emilie's medical assistant in the procedure room that she does not handle simple hyperpigmentation and that I would need to see another doctor. I never even saw Emilie Fowler. This could and should have been clarified when I booked the appointment, instead of after I had already rearranged my schedule and shown up. What was most troubling was Emilie Fowler's medical assistant's complete lack of concern in the procedure room. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and no effort to make it right. I was casually told to reschedule three weeks later with another doctor in the same group, not to mention one whose consultation fee was nearly double. The assistant's tone was indifferent and dismissive, as though my time meant nothing. Even the basic logistics were chaotic. There was no clear entry into the building; patients were left waiting outside until staff yelled instructions from a window to use a side door. It felt unprofessional and careless from start to finish. Cosmetic and pigmentation treatments carry inherent risks such as scarring. discoloration and uneven texture. Because of the repeated cancellations, lack of clarity, and overall experience, I did not feel confident moving forward. Others may wish to consider whether this level of communication and coordination meets their expectations before scheduling. read more

So, I was nervous to come here given the very mixed reviews. While I don't think this place is complete trash, I also don't know how much I'd rave about it. It's kinda of like the McDonalds of dermatology. Sometimes you want a sodium-filler burger. Ultimately, I think it all depends which provider you get. While I don't think I'd come here for my permanent dermatology needs, they have their place perhaps in-between visits with your regular provider. Here is my take: pros: many locations hours span from evening to morning free samples to grab around the building cons: no way to reach individual practices feels a bit factor-esque - just churning out patients I originally had a billing issue - turns out my insurance was registered wrong, luckily the person at the front desk was able to catch the error and adjust it in the system, but the lack of ability to contact the practice directly lead to a lot of anxiety on my part - I was really up to the whim to an individual person to happen to catch and correct the error. read more

My first 2 appointments here were great- kind staff, efficient service- thats my 2 stars. I had to reschedule my 3rd appointment, which I did online, and they put me in for the wrong time. I showed up at the agreed upon time to be told that it was never put into the computer. The receptionist apologized and rescheduled to today- while I was standing right in front of her. I showed up today to be told by a different receptionist that it was never. put. in. the. computer....again. The dr I had been seeing was not available and they told me I could pay out of pocket to see someone else. After they messed up TWICE. I left and won't be back. I came here awhile back looking for help with treatment-resistant acne. I'd worked with other dermatologists over the years on a variety of topicals and an antibiotic without any benefit, so I was hoping to have a conversation exploring the possibility of Isotretinoin/Accutane. The clinician I spoke with instantly shut this conversation down, telling me that my cystic acne was "too mild" to consider treating with Accutane without first trying additional topicals (despite my having just given a laundry list of prescription topicals that had failed to help me). I reluctantly accepted this approach, and they prescribed me several (rather expensive) topicals. This was after waiting well more than an hour past my appointment time to be seen; and not by the doctor I'd scheduled with, but by a PA. After that I decided to not be upsold on overpriced topicals a second time, and booked an appointment with a dermatologist elsewhere in town. The first words out of their mouth after seeing my treatment-resistant acne: "Have you ever heard of Accutane?" My acne is well on its way to being permanently cured now, and with no ill effects. I pay $10 a month for it, and when I have my appointments with that dermatologist, they see me within 5 minutes. I got a call from Schweiger recently "reminding me that it's time for my next appointment," which reminded me that what it was actually time for was this review. read more

UPDATE: Dr Iacobelis has left. I completely wasted my time twice coming back to see another doctor. My last experience at this practice was unprofessional and disappointing. I'm not sure what it is but I asked the doctor the same question over and over and got crickets. He moved on to give me same advice he gave previous time that didn't work. He never answered my questions. I'm not sure if they are seeing too many patients but I've seen a few doctors here and the older doctors were more experienced, gave better treatment and gave best advice. I came back for another consultation after major fail(s) and the doctor proceeded to tell me the same advice that I told him burned my skin???? Beaware the scheduling can be way off and they schedule you for a doctor not available. And they will cancel your appointment without notifying you and have you come in for an appointment they cancelled; I was also rescheduled without ever getting a phone call to ask if that was ok. They never pass along messages when you call back to ask questions or follow up with medication; making you have to call repeatedly and go in circles. I'm just going to look for a new practice I can't take this anymore. Previous Review: Dr Iacobelis is the best. I highly recommend coming here. He has lots of good ideas. Do yourself a huge favor and pick literally any other dermatology office in the city. The office was incredibly unorganized. I had the same conversation with 3 separate staff members and each time they had no idea that anyone had contacted me prior. I got called multiple times a day. One staff member was rude. The dermatologist didn't even know what I was in for during my appointment. The room I sat in was gross. A nurse or assistant was standing in the corner of the room during my appointment. Schweiger is a scam. Do not go there. After ~10 visits, it was clear the office only cares about recommending the most expensive treatment and products, and don't care at all about patient outcome. They ruined my skin by starting me on a prescription of which the dose was so high that it horrified dermatologists elsewhere I later visited. Then they scammed me into taking an expensive, painful and useless allergy test (and charged me co-pays 3 times), and pushed me to use an extremely expensive pharmacy that custom make prescriptions from scratch. Even this fancy pharmacy thought the order was completely excessive and made no sense. After they realized I stopped going, they sent me a bill for a visit that they had explicitly told me didn't require another co-pay, just to squeeze the last blood out of their patients. PLEASE save your skin and hard-earned money and go somewhere else. read more

I have been going to schweiger dermatology for several months now and feel they have been nothing more than helpful and accommodating, ensuring I can get an appointment at my desired time (after 5pm), seeing me last minute for cortisone shots (day of or first thing next day) and have even arranged for me to seamlessly be seen by another doctor when my normal PA and I were missing each other due to travel. Monique is extremely knowledgeable and really helps you consider all options, while providing you with facts and honesty. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience with her. While Sari is a great provider, the office staff was horrific last night! I got there for a 650 appt which is so hard to come by. I could not even check in. Five people on line and they were still working with one person for 10 minutes trying to make her a follow up appt- honestly these people couldn't go home and make follow ups on line?? I had just moved my mom (who is a senior) to the neighborhood after my father died last year. She had a couple of marks on her face so we booked an appointment and were welcomed warmly by Marina, who oversees this particular Schweiger office. Dr. Iacobellis was very kind and sensitive to my mom's vulnerabilities as he examined her while explaining the details of what he suspected to be skin cancer cells to his assistants. He scheduled a biopsy, which confirmed his initial suspicions and the procedure removed the cancer from the first cell. For the second, on the nose, he prescribed a special gel that first caused (expected) inflammation but seems to be healing so that the bad cells scab and fall off. I feel very confident in his care. While the doctor is not always available for follow up calls, Marina goes above and beyond to answer any questions about medication and was kind enough to give us some creme samples when my mother ran out after her biopsy. The office worked with us to prescribe medication covered by my mother's health plan. This is a well run office that has a friendly neighborhood vibe. I highly recommend this branch of Schweiger to residents living in the Carnegie Hill area. read more

I cannot even begin to explain the experience that I've had at this dermatology group. All the bad reviews are true and then some. It is completely unorganized, the staff does not care about the individual patients, and they are horrible with communication. I have to Reach out to them every time with an issue that never gets resolved, And they sent my prescription to the wrong specialty pharmacy so many times, which ended Up with me paying for a prescription I could've gotten for a lot cheaper had they done their job and looked into what pharmacy worked with my insurance. As someone whose skin is a big part of self confidence, they have let me down too many times to count. I'm not just disappointed, I'm angered by the staff and this horrible practice. I made an appointment to remove ear skin tags, and the doc who saw me said it would be a complicated procedure and referred me to their midtown center to see a specialist. So when I saw the doc in midtown, he removed my skin tags with no problem (as regular skin tags, nothing complicated) and charged me about $900 more than what it would cost uptown. read more

Extremely unprofessional and dismissive of the patient. I had my first appointment with Dr. Kautilya on August 8. I went to seek treatment for a scar and two cysts that have formed under the scar. Dr. K told me that the cysts could be removed at no cost to me as it is a kind of procedure that would be billed to my insurance, whereas for the scar we would be able to do a (very expensive) laser treatment subsequently. I told them I'd start with removing the cysts, would allow some time to heal from this procedure, and would consider the laser later on; however, all along I wondered why did the doctor want to treat these two issues separately as opposed to just removing the cysts plus the scar above at once, and possibly doing a less expensive and less invasive treatment on the surgery scar-line later on. Anyhow... the earliest appointment they had available for the cyst removal was almost a whole month later, on September 1, so I went ahead and booked that appointment. Upon booking I asked the secretary to ensure they would send a pre-authorization to my insurance to confirm that they'll pay for the procedure. She assured me "the billing department will immediately send a pre-authorization as soon as I enter the appointment in the system, everything will be fine". Next thing you know, several weeks went by and three days before the appointment I sent them a message with two questions: I asked them if the pre-authorization had gone through successfully, and if it would be feasible to remove the cysts AND the scar in one procedure only. An assistant responded by saying that they were JUST NOW taking care of the pre-authorization, and that she "didn't believe removing the cysts and the scar at once would be possible", without even asking for the Doctor's opinion. I responded asking for a confirmation of a successful pre-authorization, and asking her to consult with Doctor K concerning my second question. She responded she would "keep me posted", then did not respond again for a whole day. I wrote YET AGAIN asking for a response and I received a message from another assistance stating "pre-authorization can take from 5-10 days to get authorized, we will keep you posted", and once again ignored my second question. At this point I got fed up and I asked them why would they wait until THE DAY BEFORE the procedure to ask for a pre-authorization that requires 5-10 days for a response, when they had WEEKS to do this? And WHY have they still not consulted with Doctor K and provided me with an actual answer to the second question that I asked over and over again? A few hours went by, and guess what: I receive a message from yet another assistant saying that my appointment had to be CANCELED and asking if it could be rescheduled for a later time. Clearly they realized last minute that they didn't do their job with requesting a timely pre-authorization, and decided to just postpone my appointment after I waited for almost a MONTH and had already requested time off from work, and moved all my plans around this procedure. I called them to ask for an explanation and the secretary I spoke to clearly had no idea what had happened or what she was supposed to do to fix it, given that all the previous messages came from different people who, one after the other, did not show any professionalism nor actual care towards me. Needless to say, I will now be looking for another dermatologist with which I will have to re-start the entire process from scratch. Please save yourselves from a similar ordeal and go elsewhere. read more

Truth be told if I were good at science, I would hands down go into the field so that I could make a difference in peoples lives like she has done for me. I have been going to this dermatology office for several years now and they keep getting better. I never wait more than 5-7 minutes in the waiting room and all of the doctors are good but especially the dr that goes by "Dr K". He is very knowledgeable, thorough and solves my medical issues right away. He also does my annual skin cancer exam and is always very thorough. Also he always finds the least expensive pharmacy or specialty pharmacy to send my prescriptions to which is helpful as well. I would definitely recommend this dermatology office as well as Dr K. I had to change my appointment a few times but they were accommodating. The office was clean and bright. Signing in was not a problem and they were helpful at the front desk. I went midday so they weren't busy and my wait was no more then 5 minutes. The PA who did my check up was very thorough and answered all my questions. She spent a reasonable amount of time on my body scan and my questions. She made suggestions for a few prescription to help with dry skin. My experience is worth 5 stars. read more

Very bad experience. I saw Patricia Ceballos (employed at Schweiger) over two weeks ago to have some moles removed. She never got back to me with the lab results, nor has she returned any of my calls. Her staff is not permitted to send me the report until she speaks to me, so there is no way for me to find out what the diagnosis was. I have since read other reviews on other websites and I see the same complaints from other people going back two years. Her lack of follow-up is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I've contacted my insurance company (who already paid her!) to tell them they should take back the funds. I am also calling my credit card company to cancel the copay I charged on my account. read more

Worst $1200 I have ever spent. I would not go back to this office. i went in for a minor exam and was seen by the physician's assistant, not by a doctor, but you would never know it from the bill I received. The front desk asked for my insurance information, I provided it and... they used an out-of-network lab to test a tiny sample. The result has been over $1000 in lab work and pathology fees not covered by insurance at all, plus more for the office visit. If I had known I was going to be paying out-of-network rates and never be examined by a doctor, I could have gone back to my old dermatologist, who no longer takes my insurance but whose practice is a lot nicer than this place. The Schweiger billing department may outrank the United States Post Office and Department of Motor Vehicles in unresponsiveness. One person I spoke to claimed the lab was in network and he would take care of it. It definitely wasn't and he definitely did not. Another blamed me for not specifying which lab to send the lab work to, though I did clearly ask them if they accepted my insurance and they knew what my plan was. Multiple phone calls and e-mails have been a dead end. In addition to the expense, they have wasted a lot of my time. To avoid continued collection notices from the lab, I paid the entire bill, which is the highest amount by far that I have ever paid a dermatologist's office, and my past visits to other doctors involved the doctor himself or herself. Schweiger Dermatology seems to be a large, bureaucratic organization with very little attention to individual patients. P.S. An addendum, in response to the comment below from Schweiger Dermatology's Director of Communications. 1. You know you've been to a lousy medical practice when it has a "Director of Communications" on staff but has its patients seen by non-doctors. 2. It is highly doubtful that the lab Schweiger used was the only one with the needed expertise. Mount Sinai would have been in network, as would a few others. And if the practice cares so much about providing the highest level of care, why did I not see a doctor in either of my visits? At a minimum, I should have been warned about the possibility of a huge bill. Given that my complaint was not life threatening, I could easily have gone elsewhere. 3. Schweiger sent my insurer two bills for visits to Dr. Francis Iacobellis. As noted, I have never met or seen Dr. Iacobellis. I am not sure he was even on the premises and there is no sign he was involved at any time. Shouldn't the bill reflect who really saw me? And shouldn't insurers reimburse practices at a lower rate when no doctors are involved? (I might add that no one ever discussed my test results or made any new suggestions based on them. I'm blessed to have met Dr.Katz through a co-worker! She listened to me and really made me feel comfortable. She acknowledged all my concerns and educated me on my skin. This has been the best doctor - patient experience ever. The office is very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend her to anybody- like I do on a daily basis. You are told you will see a doctor but you end up with a Physician Assistant, you are told by the MA that the medication will be sent to your pharmacy and 3 hours later, still no medication. You call the practice and yelled at by the front desk receptionist and are told they are too busy to send your medication they may not have time for another 3 hours. Meanwhile you just spent your day, money , and still have no resolution for a severe allergic reaction. It's like the office is ran by a bunch of kids and the doctor is nowhere to be found. My wife and I just came from an appointment with Dr.Iacobellis. My wife,myself and my daughter have been coming here for years. We come from Queens but the ride is well worth it. Dr.Iacobellis has to be one of the most kind,compassionate and knowledgeable doctors we have seen. He diagnosed my daughter with a condition that no other doctor could find. Please read previous reviews on schweiger before this update Well I have waited a week for the cream I was told was sent to me last Friday. I called this afternoon to find out where it was and was told that the person involved was not in the office but was now "on her way to find out what happened to the product" supposedly sent to me last week. What is wrong with tracking it or using the phone? I asked for the name of the carrier involved and was told it was a courier service. If that is code for messenger service, the messenger must be a missing person by now. I was told the person would call me back today. It is now 5:35 pm on Friday and no one has called me. Can you believe this place? The support staff are ridiculously incompetent and poorly trained in problem solving in a medical office. So no one called me back and it is Monday and still no package. Now it's 11 days since I saw the doctor and no cream. I called. She checked with the office manager and I Was told that since I have not received the cream they will send another "no charge". Are they kidding? Of course no charge. I asked how it was sent and was told usps probably but could not get the manager to confirm. So much for the special courier. These people just say anything to get you off the phone. They need to check the facts and only tell the truth to patients. Not guess. Still waiting for my cream! I'd love to get in there to train these people properly I was director of human resources for a medical reach and healthcare organization affiliated with Cornell for 14 years until I retired. I know how this place should run!) Now I get a call that although they said they had charged me for the cream, they apparently did not and so it was not shipped out! Can you BELIEVE them?
