Absolutely LOVE the Lappert's ice cream and am so happy to have found somewhere that serves it. The Kauai Pie (coffee ice cream with macadamia nuts, fudge, and coconut) is my favorite. But the Hana road (like a Rocky road) and the white chocolate macadamia nut get honorable mentions. The serve very generous scoops here! Great location in the harbor with a few tables to sit at. There are also some benches near by as the tables can be busy during peak times. Inside was very clean and staff were following COVID protocols. The lady who helped us was friendly and efficient in taking orders and getting the scoops prepared. I will definitely be coming back! Such a sweet spot to get delicious ice cream and walk around Dana Point Harbor! This cute little shop is right on the walkway between the parking lot and the walking path where you'd take to stroll and look at the boats. They have a HUGE selection of ice cream - I got the single scoop and you're able to get two flavors so I picked cookies and cream + kahlua truffle (which is like coffee ice cream with brownies- amaaaazing). My husband got the waffle cone and the ice cream serving seems a lot bigger in it. They also have desserts like cookies and brownies to choose from. Workers are kind and helpful. The macadamia nuts added a nice crunchy texture to the smooth ice cream. Had never heard of Lappert's ice cream before and now I am a fan. The Hawaiian sea salt caramel had a nice rich caramel to it. Definitely one of the better caramel tasting ice creams I've had. If you are an ice cream fan you will enjoy Lappert's. I only wish they would allow samples. I asked for a taste of the Kaui Pie flavor and was told they don't give tastes anymore. But after being assured it is a favorite, I decided to be adventurous and give it a try. This is a great spot for ice cream and your beverage needs all throughout the year! There's a separate line for ice cream and drinks and some bakery items. I ordered a small cup of ice cream and it came with 2 scoops. It was pretty tasty! I've had their hot drinks as well and have not been disappointed. It's right by the path along the harbor so it has great views of the boats. It's also a good spot to pick up what you want and continue on your walk. Ours tasted incredible including Kawaii Pie. - Ordering a single scoop in a cone was more like two scoops. - When your cheap-ass cone breaks and your ice cream falls to the ground they'll replace it for free. Cons - - Their standard cones are garbage. Not only did our cone break twice, the scoop artist broke two of them while trying to put the ice cream into the cone... After a long day of touring at Catalina Island, I didn't want dinner as I had a substantial lunch on the island. When I arrived back in Dana Point, I stopped into the Scoop Deck to get some ice cream. I got a two scoop container of loco coco--Jamaican rum and toasted coconut flavors. The ice cream was good. It's Lappert's and I've had it before so I know that it will be good quality ice cream. This is a nice shop on Dana Point Harbor. They have a great variety of flavors - some even have fun names and include flavor names from the Hawaiian islands. I tried all three flavors that my family and I had. Each had decent flavor, but the texture was overly icy. It tasted like the ice cream had been refrozen one or more times. Since this was my first time at this shop, I do not know if they had issues with a shipment of ice cream or if their freezer needs some adjustment. I ended up just throwing mine (vanilla chocolate almond) away. I would have liked to have tasted it first but they told me they did not allow a taste. I love how convenient the location of this little shop is. It's a 5 minute walk from our hotel (Dana Point Marina Inn) and another 10-15 minute walk from the beach! They offer soooo many flavors! I was a bit overwhelmed and couldn't decide if I wanted to go towards the "healthy" or not so healthy route...cookie dough seemed to be calling my name louder than the raspberry sorbet... It wasn't just any cookie dough ice cream though. It was called The Cookie Monster which had Oreo AND cookie dough chunks. It was also blue. However... I wasn't too surprised as the ice cream (Laperts) was high-quality, we were at the harbor, etc. BUT when I reviewed there a menu prices, the total was indeed off by almost $10.00. We just happened to be in the Harbor for a whale watching expedition the next day so afterwards we popped into the store to explain the situation. It was my father-in-law who went in and was told by an employee that our order should've been around 20 something dollars (after he told him exactly what we ordered) but that there was nothing they could do. Very strange to me that they just decided not to look into it any further and not very good customer service in my opinion.
