Having previously lived in NYC for roughly 15 years, I've had my share of much-hyped cupcakes. Drumroll... ScottCakes has, perhaps, the best cupcakes I've ever had. They're so simple, so scrumptious and so satisfying. Moist cake, not-sickeningly-sweet frosting, always pretty in pink. The missing star is only because the hours of operation are often inconsistent. I've seen it closed on a Labor Day weekend, and open in the dead of winter, and it seems to vary from year to year, holiday to holiday. (One time there was a note on the door that said "Back in 5 minutes"...and it stayed there for roughly 2 days.) Visited Scott's today based on reviews. Cupcake was good but the review is about the health and safety precautions. I'm from NYC and I understand businesses are doing everything they can to keep their employees and customers safe during an u precedented time BUT there are some things that just shouldn't happen. Upon arriving we saw the price. $2 for a mini sounded good just to try. We paid cash. The employee who helped us handled our cash and then handled the bottom part of the cupcake. In that order. And without gloves. I know this is a laid back beach town but please don't be lax with the health and safety of your customers. It's incredibly irresponsible. I won't be returning. read more

We walked past the bakery, and we immediately smelled the deliciousness and had to find out where it was coming from! We walked in and were not greeted although the employee working was standing right there. We were also waiting at the register for a few moments before that employee finally took our order. Scottcakes catered our wedding! It was amazing. They delivered them right to our venue and everything went perfectly. Everyone raved about the cupcakes, and loved the ginormous one that we used as our cake for cutting. Literally we ate that giant cupcake for the next 24 hours and not a day later, I said to my new wife, "Damn, I could really go for some more of that cupcake!" (FYI, pricing was great, too -- they charged us their regular price of $3/cupcake, get every 6th one free, and then I think it was $35 ish for the giant cupcake, which was iced inside and out.) I get the novelty of this place and it's ability to stay in business for the last ten years; if you're a tourist, come visit!
