Before Covid-19, I hadn't been to this Scotty P's location - Allen (or if I had, I don't remember). I've used both the delivery via GrubHub and pickup. Their packaging is great! and with pickup - the staff is super nice while being cautious during the bag transfer. The '67 Original Burger is just wonderful. I always get it cooked medium well and so far, it always comes that way. The cheddar cheese is melted so perfection. Depending on my mood, I may add avocado or mushrooms - either one is a great addition. It's a nice thick burger that I love. I really should try something other than the burger but for now, I need to get my burger fix! read more

Simple review for this one. I had been to Scotty P's before but not in a long time. With so many good burger places, it's hard to get back to them. I was in the Allen area and visiting friends and after leaving their home, I was a bit hungry and I saw Scotty P's. I had a really good mushroom swiss burger with some bbq sauce and I was happy again. Good, solid burger, cooked the right way and the meat was seasoned well. Burgers were so hard like they had been sitting out all day under a warmer. Buns were stale and not soft at all. The milkshake was watery and not a shake consistency at all. The food was room temperature at best. $70 worth of food that we could have gotten at Braums or Whataburger for half that and much better quality. Money down the drain. This is one of my favorite restaurants for a comforting meal. My fiancé and I usually order our dinners for pick up and have never had any issues. Our go to meal is the three piece crispy chicken tender meal with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries are more shoestring than thick so be ready for that. Every now and then, I change it up and get a junior burger and add my own custom toppings. My favorite is a junior burger with lettuce, avocado and a fried egg. Most recently, I had a cup of tortilla soup and it was surprisingly delicious!! The weather was a little chilly and the tortilla soup warmed me right up. This is the second review I have given in a month. My hamburger was dry and burnt, I tried to eat it without complaint but just left it. I did take a picture of it but thought I better not show on here I believe the Allen Scotty P's has gone way down hill. For $8. a burger. this was simply horrible. Went here this evening and thought it was just ok. The burger patty was good size, but it was not tasty. Ordered cheese and they sprinkled shredded cheese on top of the meat. I think I'm going to start my own scale here; really, this place is worth 3.5 stars, but based on my admittedly limited experience, I don't think I can go 4. I had a chili cheeseburger and "junior" onion rings to go. The burgers are 6 oz (a smidge above 1/3 lb, a pretty good size), but not cooked to order (all are cooked well done). This resulted in the meat being a little dry, but not overly so. The bun was a fresh sesame seed roll; it added a nice flair. Chili was OK but not outstanding. The onion rings were quite good. Big, wide rings with a complete batter coating; they had a good crunch, but could have stood being in the fryer another minute or so. Both items were hot, despite my to-go bag having sat for a few minutes (my fault). Bottom line: Cook the burger a bit less and the rings a bit more, and we're close to 4 star territory. Again, though, this is one visit on one day, so your mileage may vary. read more

I hit Scotty P's as part of a cheeseburger crawl. I sat down to a Hatch Green Chile Cheeseburger. I already had some good cheeseburger's that night and my taste buds and stomach were fairly satiated already, so I bit into the burger with mixed emotions. Fire roasted hatch green chiles, jalapeno pepper jack cheese, onion strings on an amazing bun. Wow - the taste was amazing. I wasn't sure if I wanted to slap someone's momma or hit a baby. I walked outside to re-gather my blown mind and fortunately there was a lady holding a baby - two birds with one stone! I returned to my seat for more and then I felt the subliminal heat that was slowly creeping in. Wow, it felt good. The burger was so good it disappeared very quickly. I then noticed there were some really good fries and onion rings on my plate, somehow during my burger ecstasy I hadn't noticed them. As full as I was, they are delicious too. And the burger was paired wisely with an Oreo cookie shake to take the edge off the heat - roll me out the door I am done. Scotty P's - you have a new fan! read more

Adding to/changing the order was easy and they asked some great questions to make sure they got it right. We ordered sweet potato fries to share. Menu days - order is good for 2 and and I'd say more like 3. Order: Turkey burger, add pepper jack cheese Original burger, add Swiss cheese sweet potato fries I love Avocado. They did the avocado right in my Turkey burg- didn't skimp and the portion was fresh, not one brown spot. This is a solid place to eat. Smiling faces. We joked about the child labor laws because there was very young child working behind the front counter. May be family operated, idk. I'd like to hear the story if that is the case. Long time family hangout. All I know is that prices have shot up considerably. 2 salads and 2 burger platters cost $56. Food is good but they jacked the price of a side order of fries $1.50 to 3.50 as part of the platter option. So a burger, fries and a drink will set you back $15. There are several places in Allen I can get a better burger, fries and a drink. Pluckers, Liberty Burger, Village Burger Bar, Chili's, and Boomer Jack's. At most of those places you actually get a full service meal. This is counter service only. Pretty sure we will find another place to eat burgers after this jump in pricing. read more

Watch burger get cold in window while staff laugh and text. 5. Your now frigid order is called and you fetch it getting your own greasy condiments on the way. 6. Send your burgers back for being way undercooked. 7. Vainly attempt to separate cheese fries from the cheap ass aluminum foil they line the basket with. Wait for recooked burger. Wait. 8. I can see myself getting cravings for their sweet potato fries. Almost enough to boost me up to a 4 star rating. We'll see. Time will tell. The burgers are decent. All burgers are served medium well by default (per the menu board) and I tend to prefer medium rare. I had a Watson burger (a BBQ cheeseburger) and an order of the sweet potato fries. The fries are a little expensive - $1.89 for a junior portion, a dollar more for a regular portion - but they are worth it as a treat. There is no wait staff here. You order and pay at the counter and then they call your number. The restaurant looks more upscale so I was kind of surprised by that one. It's fine but it means that there are more people moving around going to get their food or beers and going back to their seat. And I did say beer. I will be recommending this as a "date" stop the next time my husband asks where we should go. It looks like they only have a few brands but, hey, it's beer with a burger. read more

We've been going to Scotty P's for years. The burgers are moist and come in a variety of styles. Fries are crisp, and onion rings are usually a little underdone, but not bad. The grilled chicken is fantastic. It's marinated for extra flavor, and moist every time. The grilled tenders with honey mustard are a favorite. The grilled chicken sandwich, Caesar salad or Greek salad with chicken are great as well. Decent shakes. Self-serve fountain drink and iced tea refills are free. The ambiance is dark but comfortable, and the restaurant still looks fresh even after years of serving customers. The walls are covered with historic photos of people and places in Allen, which make for interesting conversation pieces. There are lots of well-padded booths, and the tables can be easily arranged for large families and parties. TVs are usually running local/network news or sports. Overall, Scotty P's is a great burger house, especially if you're looking for something different on your burger. No frills, but you get what you pay for. read more

First time here so let me get this out of the way. Your Tortilla soup is atrocious. My mom used to make this for us all the time so I feel pretty good about being in the position to discern the difference between atrocious and authentic. My advice? Get it off the menu immediately. Now on to the better news. I ordered the original burger platter. The burger was pretty awesome, the best since I've moved to Texas 2 months ago. The fries were overcooked by about 30 seconds. Management is just careless staff is clueless and the ordering system just very poorly planned and designed . You stand in a line over ONE cash register whole 10 others are behind in line waiting and giving you the look just because you are the one getting the orders taken by a staff member who doesn't give a damn. I love both Scotty P's food and atmosphere. It's a family owned company, and I've always experienced great service at the Allen and McKinney locations. I've had their burger and chicken sandwich and enjoyed them both--each juicy and moist. Their fries are good, and you can't go wrong with a hand-made shake of real ice cream!
