I really like that this indoor gym looks clean and modern compared to older gyms. Kids had a blast attending a class birthday party. Kids loved playing with the padded blocks. Various gyms appear to differ in how much supervision of children occurs with the staff. The obvious tradeoff for such a large gym and low staffing to child ratio is that this gym requires more from parents and cohesive relationships amongst children to really enjoy the place to its fullest. At this gym, each parent is responsible for supervising your own child and the place is rather large so it is easy to lose sight of your child. Children can move vertically up or down without penalty but can be exhausting for adults to move upward. I recommend conserving energy as a parent. The pizza, chips, grape snacks, soft tacos, and souvenir gift books were wonderful. What I think could be better is that parking was completely full so I had to parallel park on the street behind the gym. Backing up is really hard in the parking lot so I think mentioning that there is plenty of parking on the street would be helpful. Also our all of hand sanitizer dispensers were not working so we had to trade them with an adjacent room. This can be easily fixed by throwing away broken dispensers. Overall, a pleasurable experience that I would recommend for other parents of pre-K and kindergarteners! read more

My wife has been to this location several times but I've only been once. We went on a weekday after school knowing how jam-packed these types of play places can get on weekends. There were hardly any kids there and the play space is massive--they have different sections for different ages, including a little cafe area that offers bakery goods, lunches (e.g. sandwiches), as well as beer and wine(!). There's a little bit of everything from climbing structures to ropes to slides to ball pits. There's also a big open area with giant, soft "Lego" pieces, big puzzles, soccer goals, and oversized balls. There are also various fact and information boards throughout covering different topics. A few cons--there's no way to control kids taking food into the different spaces and several spots had crushed cracker crumbs, nothing egregious, but it didn't seem that staff were doing walk-thrus of the play spaces to ensure they're clean. The other thing to note is that if adults don't close the gates to the various spaces, including the to the main lobby area, they're left open and kids can just wander through, which I noted at least one child doing. Overall a good experience but with some room for improvement. I'd definitely return on a weekday but would hate to be in a space like that when it's packed, personally speaking. read more

We have been waiting with baited breath for the new Scramble location to open in Falls Church, and it's even better than we imagined!! This facility is enormous, super clean (well, it's still brand new, so I guess I'd hope so, lol, but even while we were there, there was someone vacuuming and wiping down surfaces), and SO much fun for my kiddos. Each play area is themed, and it's so well done. There's an under the sea area for toddlers (with some of the coolest light installations and bubble ball pit!), a dino dig area, a train station-themed area, etc. Then there's a HUGE three-story play structure with soooooo much fun stuff inside -- plexiglass-bottomed areas with a plane so kids can really imagine they're flying, slides, obstacle courses, and more galore! And then in the back, as if that wasn't already enough, there's a huge soft oversized soccer area, with giant foam legos for creative play. Scramble also offers food, everything from quick ready-made snacks to actual lunch food -- flatbread pizzas, turkey pesto paninis, quesadillas, etc. We saw them making the items fresh in the kitchen in the back, and while the food is a little expensive, it was really, really good. Admission cost can really add up (esp. bc you have to pay $2 for each adult...) but I mean... it's worth it. My kids had SO much fun and I know that they easily could have spent the entire day there (but your admission slot is for 2 hours). We will most definitely be back -- and soon! read more

I went into Scramble today to enjoy a fun Saturday with my family. I've always had a good time here. Today was not that day. One older staff named Mimi had some incomprehensible issue with my wife that led to excessive and unfair application of their rules. My wife was singled out. When you're applying your rules in a way that stalks patrons and even leading to kicking my 2.5 years old daughter from the crawling room when she wanted to play with 6 month old son without affecting anyone else. Mimi, you're too much. And I think the owners of Scramble did not intend on this level of selective bias and uncomfortable treatment. I've enjoyed this place. Mimi, you've ruined that I'd love for the owner to reach out to me for specifics on this matter. I understand as an owner there are situations where you have to be neutral and relay all factors to your patrons. THIS experience was not that. read more

Visited this location today, I was very happy with our visit. I was able to reserve a two hour time slot online but you can also just walk in, I think that's more so for when their busy on the weekends. Masks are optional, as it is noted as physical activity but temperature checks were done. The place is fairly new and well kept ! My toddler had a blast ! We came to check out your new location! We are long time scramble fans and were so looking forward to our visit! The new play-frame was incredible! So many slides and tunnels and places to play. My now two year old daughter never wanted to leave. This play-frame felt safer (Loving the emergency/fire exits), more conductive to cleaning, and exciting on every level. This is probably the best indoor play place I've ever experienced! Clearly well thought out and cared for. Employees were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Now that it's cold, we were looking for a fun indoor playground to entertain our almost 3 year old. We're happy we found this place. It's clean, has enough things to entertain our toddler, and the design is well thought out - there are comfortable chairs set all around so you can sit comfortably while the kids play. It's more of a multiple level maze, and keeps the kids entertained for hours. They also have snacks and tables for families needing a break. We bought our 8 year on our 2nd visit abs she's enjoying it as much as the almost 3 year old. I'd definitely recommend this place and we'll be back for more fun on cold and rainy days. Just wanted to warn parents about Scramble Indoor Play in Falls Church (130 E Fairfax St). My 4 year-old daughter and her friend (both entering PreK) were signed up for a week of summer day camp. Her friend's dad dropped them off yesterday morning for the first day, signed in and talked to the manager who explained the first 30 minutes were free play. He left after watching the girls get settled in and play for about 10 minutes. When he returned 6 hours later to pick them up, they weren't in the camp room. None of the staff knew where they were. The dad eventually found them in the playground, alone, where they had been ALL DAY LONG with no food, water, bathroom breaks or supervision. THEY ARE FOUR. The girls were okay (thank goodness!), but both extremely unsettled. Apparently, they had asked for water and were pointed to a water fountain. They asked staff for food and were told to "Go find your parents." When the girls said they didn't have parents, the staff said they could not have food because they did not have money. NO ONE thought enough to wonder why two four year-olds were wandering around alone ALL DAY LONG, even when they asked for help. That's the part that really blows my mind and makes me think the staff here is either incredibly irresponsible or entirely incompetent - maybe both. The manager claimed the camp "had the wrong list" and tried to offer gift cards and prizes to make up for "the oversight." We won't be returning, and I hope others will be wary of the place as well. Something really awful could have happened, and this sort of place should have better safety policies in place. read more

We came here two times for birthday parties and the kids had a blast. The lighting could be better as it seems a bit dark when you're climbing inside the large play area. Birthday parties are well coordinated on both occasions, they give a cool education book to each kid for party favors and I love that they have a small book store too. To whom It may concern, I have hesitated writing this review because I do enjoy coming here with my kids. However, what we experienced for my son's birthday quickly made me rethink about ever coming back. I went the first week the new location opened up and recommended it to all our friends and family. We have had our kids birthdays before at the Alexandria Location and have always had a pleasant experience. We booked my son's 6th birthday at the falls church location for 2/5 at 5pm. All in all, paid about $788 including food which is pretty significant given a kids birthday. When we arrived (15 minutes before), there was absolutely no parking to be found on the premises or in the neighborhoods. My husband had to drop myself, my 2 kids and all the event décor, cake, etc stuff at the front while he scavenged for parking. When we walked inside, it was absolutely packed, every single table taken, bins completely full, kids and adults everywhere. To my surprise, I thought this would be managed a lot better. I saw the sign that read "270 capacity" and thought to myself if maybe some people would be leaving for the new people coming in. I asked Sarah at the front desk if all the people already there were staying and she said to me in a snippet tone "Well, we have 7 parties today in addition to walk-ins" as if I knew how many parties were booked during that timeframe. As a privately-owned company, safety should be everyone's priority especially if those that have birthday packages have paid a lot more to have kids ($40 per extra kid) and adults be there. But that wasn't the worst part. Please feel free to pull video footage of this to verify. As we're waiting for our room to clear up, we noticed a small child (little boy probably aged 4), somehow get through all 3-4 gates that led up to the front. He got to the two section where the door from the outside led to the inside, in the glass section. My husband and I looked around to see if any adult would go after him before he opened the doors to go outside. The child left scramble, barefoot to the stores across the street with no parent in sight. I jumped into 'mom mode' and went after him as he crossed the street (a car came to a halt as he bolted to the stores), I grabbed him and picked him up to take back to scramble. I waved to the car 'thank you for stopping' and proceeded to take him back into scramble. As I dropped him off inside, Sarah (your employee) proceeded to ask me if he was my child...no. Why would I ever let my child leave scramble barefoot without me? What kind of mother would I be? When I said 'no' she then said 'well we're not responsible for taking care of the children'. WOW! I just couldn't believe that she had said that. Even if it wasn't particularly in her job description to watch a child leave scramble by themselves and wander off aimlessly, at least as a decent human being to do the right thing. Especially in the place that she chose to work at which deals with kids everyday. What kind of example is set for this type of business? I honestly felt very bad for our party room assistant as she was extremely overwhelmed with the parties upstairs and suddenly another party as large as ours was coming in. We set up our room with all party décor and the kids were off the play. We were still concerned with the amount of people in one building with the option of having masks on or off and as your policy states 'temperatures would be checked upon arrival', my family and some of our guests were not checked which raises another concern on the amount of people that could've slipped through the cracks on this simple task. I asked again, how people were being tracked if the capacity was 270. Their response was that they were keep track of how many bins were full however that doesn't seem like an accurate way to keep tabs on count since a family of 4-5 can easily use one bin so it's miscalculated. My party was at least 36 and with the 7 parties there with around that same amount of people would equal out to 252 people. Meaning only 18 additional walk-in's would be allowed in but that was not the case, there was well over 270 people, not taking under consideration those that have paid more than the general public and putting our safety first. My husband had to rescue 2 kids from the large play area, crying, looking for their parents. This may not fall on scramble but how does one monitor this as a staff member? There were kids with no socks on which is a requirement and could lead to potential exposures such as hand, foot, mouth disease. How does this get sanitized throughout the day? When we received our food, I can honestly say that we were extremely disappointed. It looked so gross, I even took pictures of it so you can see what it looked like. It was just pizza thrown in a microwave type oven, to heat up, served all messy. Overall, my experience was not good and the only positive comment I will make is the young man that cleaned up the party rooms read more

I took my daughter there twice and she had a great time. So it seemed like an easy decision to do her 4th birthday party there. I paid the no refundable deposit but after that I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone to make changes to the reservation. I sent them emails on 3 or 4 consecutive days, called the phone number they provided incessantly, and nobody got back to me. Nobody EVER answers the phone listed, or the number listed on the Chamber of Commerce website. In the meantime, they keep sending me invoices for the "remainder" of the sum for the reservation, for a service that hasn't happened yet. That is just bad business. read more

scramble as a whole is great I love bringing my kiddos in on a rainy day. But scramble as a birthday destination is trash. I paid over $500 and unfortunately had to reschedule my sons party because he was sick. I was told I would be able to do that with no issues but when it came time to reschedule I couldn't get anyone on the phone and no one would answer my emails it was extremely disappointing. when you try to call their mainline it says everything you need to know is on line and hangs up on you when you call the party line no one answers and no one returned your call. I sent three emails trying to reschedule my son's party and no response and no refund. Just providing information for anyone thinking About booking in the near future hopefully they turn this around. read more

We take our child weekly but never on a weekend and always early morning to avoid a crowd. They do not monitor well as bigger kids are often running around the baby/toddler area and it can feel dangerous. Parents must be extra careful and always watch. I have no issues telling the older kids to please leave the baby/toddler area. It also concerns me not being able to see where your child is once they start climbing through the big tunnel areas. I would never let my child go alone. As others have mentioned there's no sense of security to make sure parents leave with the correct parents so please be careful. One recent review mentions a barefoot child leaving the premises on their own and staff doing nothing about it. Also, after reading reviews I would NEVER EVER send my child here for camp or host a birthday party here. Read the one star and two star reviews--- YIKES!!!! Sounds like employees and managers are a disaster so it's up to you as a parent to be vigilant. I would not send my child here with a friend/without me. Also, when our second is born this summer we will be done with Scramble bc it's too expensive. If I am baby wearing my baby to bring my toddler to expel some energy I'm not paying $14 for a 5 month old. We celebrated our daughter's 3rd Birthday at Scramble Alexandria today. It was such a great experience! First off, the party package is a great deal; and I love that they give books out as favors. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. We know it's not easy to find good employees right now. Second, I ordered a few party trays for the adults and did not have high expectations because it's a kid's playground. However, everyone LOVED the food and was impressed with both the flatbread pizzas and tacos. Thanks Scramble for a wonderful time every time! read more

As with most things, there are pros and cons. I think the cons outweigh the pros. Pros: -Let's face it, it's fun if you're a little kid. -Staff at check-in were nice. -Seemed like a decent food selection including fruit and yogurt pouches (not just junk food). -Pretty good parking considering it's in Falls Church which is not flush with parking lots. Cons: -There is ABSOLUTELY NO SECURITY. There is no limit on physical access through the door. There is no limit on who can see into the place to know exactly what it is and who is inside etc. There is no effort to ensure the children are leaving with the correct adult (e.g. what Chuck E Cheese does with the selfie rule). -There is NO staff policing or rule enforcement. So no one to stop kids climbing inappropriately or shoving other (smaller) children out of the way etc. And yeah, parents should do that for their own kids. But 1) parents are mostly not watching their kids in this place and 2) parents cannot see into the structure except on limited parts. Which leads to the next con- -YOU CANNOT SEE YOUR KID. Think about the biggest playground you know of and imagine if three sides were totally blocked from view. That's what this place is like. Luckily my husband is a good sport and climbed through the whole thing for an hour (followed by a well deserved beer). -There's no Covid protocol, which is the norm at this point everywhere. But the website says "temperature checks". They definitely don't do that. A handful of people were masked - the website says "masks not required for fully vaccinated" but no one checked vaccination status. So just know that in your risk calculation. -It's super hot inside. Not sure what that means in terms of their "enhanced ventilation" claims. Could just be that there were a lot of people and it's so humid outside that it's impossible to cool down the big space. read more

Play at your own risk - it is almost entirely unmasked! Children are not required to wear masks because it "is considered physical exercise," despite other local similar plays zones (Jolly Yolly, Busy Bees) that see the wisdom in indoor masking for unvaccinated and require them. As it's full of toddlers and older children (who have not yet been fully vaccinated), play comes at a decent risk since this is indoor play, especially on a busy day. Vaccinated adults also can go mask free, but you are not required to show proof of vaccination status. It's a beautiful facility, but until my kids are vaccinated, I don't think we'll be back. read more

Yay!! So excited to have a local new location, WE ACTUALLY threw my son's birthday party at the Alexandria location. We love the other location but this one is EVENA BETTER!! The play are is spacious and nicely set up. There is a baby area blocked off just for babies and crawlers. A smaller section for kuds a bit bigger. And the main play structure is even bigger than the original location. The back area has soccer and soft legos. There's a balm pit which the kids were super excited to see. And they have themed soft play rooms which is always a hit with the kids. Open tables and the Cafe as well just like the other location. A super cute book area in the front, that we will definitely check out before we leave. The top floor is still under construction but it over looks the whole play area, it will have more seating and outlets for parents who need space to get work done. 2 thumbs up from all the kids. In addition, they have one of the best children's bookstores in the DMV! The bookstore is in the lobby by the entrance. You can stop by to shop without going into the play area. read more

NOVA Parents, think twice before booking a birthday party at Scramble Falls Church during RSV and flu season, or if your child has any health issues. I booked my son's birthday party and only had a small group, because several of the children have serious health issues. Unfortunately, two of his friends were hospitalized the same week for a heart condition caused by a viral infection and Asthma attack with RSV, and their families were the bulk of the party. So I canceled a couple of days after the booking. His friends' conditions are harder to deal with this time of year so the families are being cautious and don't want to take the risk of a large group setting. Hence, I could not reschedule. I knew my deposit was non-refundable which was fine. I NEVER WANTED A REFUND. I've taken my son to Scramble twice since then. During my first visit, I asked for a store credit so the company wouldn't take a loss, yet I could still utilize my deposit. The couple hours I was there I was given the run around about getting a direct answer. I asked to speak to a manager, but the manager wouldn't come down. An employee explained to me that the person that books the parties has the final say, and the parties bring in so much revenue that the manager didn't want to interfere by speaking with me. I understood, but I felt the manager should have told me that in person. The employee tried to call the person in charge of events several times and she wouldn't pick up. I gave my information and was told to expect a follow-up email which I never received. I emailed a couple of weeks later and was told I could not be given a store credit. I was offered a $50 off voucher for my next party booking within two months. I explained that a party isn't going to happen due to the children's ongoing health concerns. I think a company that deals with the happiness of children should be more sensitive to extreme circumstances, especially on the back-end of the pandemic. Again, I never wanted a refund. In my email, I asked for a store credit to take my son to the bookstore and let him enjoy some time there. This company's priority is money, not children. I've since started taking my son to My Gym and the people are kind and party packages are more customizable. read more
