Shoutout to our local community heroes! We finally tried out this cute breakfast spot by our local Publix grocery. The staff is energetic and personable. Reilly was a ray of sunshine! She really was a welcoming soul! The menu has some classics, some classics with a twist, and some cool new options that I have never seen before.. like apple fritter French toast. We ordered some dishes that were familiar to us and we were open to be more adventurous next time. A classic Benidect was hubby's favorite and we ordered a side of breakfast hash just to try. I ordered a popular dish with biscuits, gravy, hash browns, and eggs. I ordered a side of savory pork sausage links. The hash was a nostalgic taste and made me want to find a bowl of white steamed rice to accompany this yummy dish. I did ask our server if could ask for the hash browns on the side instead of under the gravy and atop the biscuit. She said no problem and they will hook me up next time. I did also take off the generous offering of the fresh green onions, because it was a bit too much of a bite for me this early in the morning. But it did make me crave potato pancakes and sour cream!!! The coffee was delicious and we had or own carafe of coffee. Love it!!!! We had a wonderful meal! This is hands down on of the best breakfast spots I've been too in a long while. There is plently of seating for people that have a large group. The service was great and they sat us down promptly. Our server Rachel was very kind and helpful with us ordering everything. Got Mom - "Mini Classic" - which she enjoyed (Turkey sausage option - a Plus!!!). Says mini- pancakes, but looked normal sized to us... she took 1 home since it was too much for her. "Avocado Toast" was mine with side of strawberry yogurt - presentation was good & very filling, couldn't finish my yogurt!!! Our server was very good, he was attentive but not overdone. Wow, scrambler has become our go to for breakfast or brunch on the weekends for so long now I forgot to review them! Let me start with it's never a long wait and if you want, you can pre-order online. We've always been greeted with a friendly person who sees us comfortably quickly. It's a busy place but has a great ambience. It's bright and the patrons seem to be enjoying their time and meals. Without a doubt scrambler makes the most delicious omelettes, but is the only restaurant I found that knows how to make a darn Eggs Benedict poached medium correctly. It shouldn't be so hard but I've meant to be four different First watches and none of them could serve me something that wasn't a slimy mess. Scramble lime cooks know what they're doing, the food is really flavorful and comes out relatively fast even on a busy Sunday. The wait staff hustles, and I appreciate their attention and kindness. My husband really enjoys their French toast, their bigger concoctions, loaded home fries etc. I am the one who's so much harder to please but when we go to scrambler, it's a for sure delish meal for both of us. read more

Service was quick to attend to us and to get our order in. They have a nice size menu and have a good selection to choose from. I saw signs for bottomless pancakes and it was listed on the menu too but I wasn't ready for that, but good to know for the next time. Today, I had a bunch of conferences scheduled, and I didn't want to fuss around cooking. So I decided to go with my friends for breakfast at the new Scramblers Restaurant in the Deerwood Village Plaza. Going in, the place was very clean and spacious. We were fortunately able to be seated quickly. For breakfast, we ordered 1x Westgate skillet with sunny side up eggs, 1x crab cake benny, 1x Angus cheeseburger, and 1x yogurt parafit. Moving on with today's review, our overall experience was just alright. As for what was good, the portion sizes on each meal were nice, and given recent pressure from inflation, the prices weren't terrible either. The eggs on both meals were cooked perfectly as the yolk was runny! Potatoes were seasoned nicely, and the burger tasted fresh - the lettuce added a good crunch (nice job also on the melted cheese, too - would order this again). The yogurt parafit had a pleasant contrast of flavors despite it being over $5, lol. Now, on the flip side, the Westgate skillet had tasty flavors, but I felt that the potatoes weren't necessarily crispy, and it was lacking traces of chorizo Although my friend ordered the crab cake benny, they mistakenly brought the original benny. This tasted actually very good; however, he did swap this out for his original order, which would turn out to be a mistake as the crab cakes had a can/fishy flavor that did not taste fresh at all. Despite my criticism, our server was friendly, and my friend mentioned that this was actually his second time coming here. Also, I wanted to mention that they do have a nice variety of breakfast options to choose from. My final verdict for now is a 3.5/5. read more

This new restaurant place in the Deerwood Village Shopping Center (Publix) is good and return-worthy but not a five star place. My first impression was that it was very loud with hard surfaces everywhere adding to the echo. My second impression was all the smiling staff member faces even at 9:30 on a wait line Saturday morning. My third impression was how wonderful the food looked on all the tables as I passed by them. As for my food, I ordered the Avocado Omelet which was filled with chunks of fresh avocado and was delicious. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash which I was told was made in house (doesn't look like it and didn't taste like it). One win. One lose. So, four stars and I will return. Waitress was terrible. we asked for extra plates to feed our baby, they did not come to our table until 20 minutes after we had already received the food. When we asked for the check, it was not until another 10 minutes that the waitress came back and asked if we were ready for the check. The bussers were eager to clean the table after we wrapped up and started cleaning before we could pack up the baby and leave. They took our food order right away, and food came shortly after. We ordered the Eye Opener side of yogurt and potato chunks, Classic Egg Benedict side of potato chunks, and Uncle Moose's Manhandler Skillet. The food was Ok. The potato wasn't crispy, but ok. The Hollandaise Sauce on the eggs Benedict was kinda loose, not as thick as the sauce we were used to. The coffee was great. They have an all you can eat pancakes and French toast. Sarah at Scrambler's in the Publix plaza on Southside and Baymeadows was a real treat for my late Monday breakfast at 2pm. I was the only patron at the time. The three service staff all greeted me and made friendly small talk as I got situated. I chose a booth facing straight into the pristine and spankingly new kitchen. I'm a sucker for a shiny hood. The booths were spacious and comfortable even for a big guy like me. I'd describe the decor as bright contemporary barn. "Coffee please!" And a water cause I tend to go hard on Sunday nights . "What's the Soup of the Day?" "French Onion " "I'll have some"(I actually did the soup and house salad combo) The menu was just free-hand enough to be fun. They keep it between the two ponds primarily with a nod to the Hugeonots and the Texicans. They're not pouring honey on your biscuit(which I hate) but they were appropriating some plaid and overalls imagery. Feeling a little Big John myself I ordered the Uncle Moose's Manhandler. I liked the French Onion soup. The flavor was great. I don't think I liked the plating. The presentation was nice but unfamiliar. I prefer crocks because they retain heat and my soup was not cold, more than warm but not hot. The house salad was exactly what I wanted. Crisp, fresh and easy to fork Uncle Moose must have been a pig farmer since this breakfast bowl included Bacon Ham, Sausage and onions over skillet skin-on potatoes covered in Monterey Jack Cheese and topped with two eggs any way you want. Do you remember eating at Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg Tennessee for the first time after a fraternity formal? That life saving meal that helped you piece together fragments of the night before. The keg stands. The go carts. The black bears. Well 25 years later Uncle Moose delivered another seminal coming of age breakfast experience. Pay close attention to the hat and sunglasses for scale. These were big country portions. A pile of pig on potatoes with some scrambled eggs. Mortared by Monterey Jack. Flanked by golden brown hash browns. Quality ingredients carefully assembled with an attention to presentation. It will be hard not to order it again. I took three quarters of it home and later wrapped up ole Uncle Moose in a Burrito blanket. Hash browns n'all. It deserved it's own review but I don't review my own cooking. The owner was there but regrettably we didn't get a word. He was interviewing a young candidate who I believe got an offer. None of this is possible without good help. I understand there opening yet snother location. What a fantastic addition to my Baymeadows neighborhood. First time visitor, we were greeted as we walked in, it took 5 minutes to be seated while they were very busy. I ordered the zesty smokehouse breakfast sandwich. It had some kind of chipotle sauce which gave it a perfect added zest of flavor. It was delicious and the sandwich was large. I got loaded potatoes as my side, they lacked flavor and spice, so they really weren't worth it for the up charge. The waitress was training a trainee so we had some hiccups there with communication that caused us to not receive the sauce we asked for, but otherwise a pleasant visit. I tried Scramblers the other day with my family. There are some positives about it and some negatives. Pros: reasonable prices on pretty much all dishes. I liked that my waitress showed me pictures of the dishes as I was trying to decide. Good coffee and flavored creamer options. The moose skillet was pretty tasty. My wife's Baja something skillet was so-so. The mini classic breakfast was good. They give plenty of toast. The environment and decor was basic but nice. The food came out quickly and hot, but keep in mind that we went on a Monday at the end of lunch. Cons: the cups and water glasses had a faint hint of egg smell. This downgraded the restaurant to my eyes. The hot sauce options were either Tabasco or Red Hots. To me red hot is too vinegary for breakfast and Louisiana hot sauce is more balanced, but this is personal preference. The drinks were more expensive than most other competitors , nearly $4 for coffee. The skillets were mostly potatoes instead of the other ingredients. The grits were just okay. Overall: not a bad place but for $20/person for breakfast, I expected more, including more flavor. They do give a scratch off ticket for your next visit, with discounts to make you come back. I think this is a great idea. Their offerings are pretty basic but a solid selection. I'd be probably go back if it weren't for the glasses having a slight odor. There are better options in Jacksonville for roughly the same price, so I don't think we will return. read more

I had the south of the border omelette and there was barely any chorizo and way too much sour cream. That's all I could taste. I ordered a lemon blueberry pancake and the butter was plain butter and had so much thrown on there. The blueberries were nice, but I wanted the lemon flavor as well. First time to this newly opened restaurant in our neighborhood. They have pretty stiff competition from two well established places here in Baymeadows: the Metro Diner and First Watch. I'd say they are pretty much a solid competitor!! The staff is friendly, prompt and professional. And they are diverse. Let me say that again. They are diverse in terms of gender, age and race. What a welcome relief from those restaurants who have an entirely white staff and whose patrons are pretty much a match. Here the clientele is as diverse as the staffing. The food was excellent. I had eggs with hash browns and hash. All three were done to perfection. The eggs were over medium exactly as I like them. The hash was tasty and the hash browns were crisp. My hubby's waffle was just right and they have an endless griddle which means he could have had as many as he'd wanted. Same with the pancakes and French toast. The coffee was excellent as well. Seana, our waitperson, was great and provided top notch service with a smile and great energy. Our food came out hot and tasty within minutes of our order! There were a lot of folks but our wait was only 10 minutes as promised. The hostess provided service with a smile. This is the perfect formula for success here in a highly competitive market. They are starting to open these restaurants in Jacksonville, so when my mom suggested going to lunch, I knew she would be interested in trying Scramblers because she loves breakfast and brunch. We went around 1 pm on a Thursday afternoon. There were not a lot of people in the restaurant, so Ian, our server, sat us at the first large table by the door so that we had room for my son's stroller. He gave us menus to look over and asked us what we would like to drink. I had sweet tea and my mom had hot tea. The sweet tea tasted delicious, and there was plenty of hot water for my mom along with a variety of options for tea to choose from. For food, I chose the cheeseburger with fries, and my mom chose an omelette with potatoes and English muffins. The food came out quickly, and we dug in. My burger was perfectly medium and juicy, and the fries were crispy. My mom enjoyed her omelette and sides and finished it all.
