Nice little new spot in town. Asian southern influenced. Plenty of space to eat, it's nice and comfy. I got the special 2 piece drumstick and thigh plus 1 donut. The donut was good. Nice sweet choice before the Korean style chicken. The sauce was good on it. If there was something to criticize, other sides besides donuts and slaw. Bag of chips, a side salad, for the lunch would be nice. Other than that I'll go again! Keep up the great food. read more

Alright, I went here a couple days ago, and I have to tell you this was the best fried chicken I've had in years. Granted I don't eat it often--but this is good stuff. My boyfriend got a breakfast sandwich ($5) on a donut bun and loved it. I got a breast a wing ($7). We hit a hiccup when it first came out, as my chicken was under done, but they took it back with no problem. After I got my second plate (and a complimentary gift card as an apology!) all wad definitely forgiven, as that chicken was fantastic. Crispy, juicy, and flavorful. Scratch Fried Chicken, Greensboro. I had some high hopes for this place with all of the positive reviews, but it was just not very good. This place is in a tiny building. Very small inside, and the few tables here are jammed in and cramped. Not very comfortable. You order at a counter then wait to have the food brought out. Not my favorite way of doing things. It would have been just as easy to have full service in a place this small. Apparently at one time they also did doughnuts too, but there was not 1 hint of anything doughnut like anywhere in the place on my visit. The menu is pretty simple. Fried chicken, wings, chicken tenders, or chicken sandwich. Rotisserie chicken. Long story short, if you dont want fried chicken then dont come here. Its all they have. The service was great. Some of the best I have had lately. Fast, friendly, and very helpful. You have 2 options on fried chicken, flour dredged and double battered and fried. I opted for the double battered, with Korean sauce on the side. 4 pieces of chicken and a drink rang up to $17. So this is not a cheap place to eat. There was a sign that said you may have to wait for fried chicken, and it was true. I really have no problem waiting since it is cooked fresh while you wait. I didnt time it but it took about 15 minutes or so for the food to come out. It seemed reasonable to me. The food. No good. I see several people have complained that the chicken was overly salty. I guess the cooks have chosen to now eliminate all salt from everything. It is now polar opposite of that. The chicken didnt taste like it had any salt on it at all. It was very bland. Same for the slaw. Plain and bland. The chicken was cooked all the way through. One of the first things I checked. This stuff was super greasy. It left a pool of oil on the plate, and by the time it got cool enough to eat it was soggy, and just not good. For these kinds of prices the chicken better be not just good, but exceptional. Especially since it is the ONLY thing that they do! I just got a bucket of fried chicken at Harris Teeter, that was 10 times better than this stuff for $7. I dont like to slam a place with good service, but charging super premium prices for chicken that is not even as good as what you can get at a grocery store is just ridiculous. The Korean sauce was honestly the best thing I had here. You can get better chicken anywhere. Even a grocery store. 2 stars for good service and thats it. read more

This place is awesome! Definitely a little hidden gem in Greensboro. Trust the good reviews it's definitely worth the visit. Prices aren't too much higher than fast food places- and the quality and freshness is no competition. Good selection on sauce varieties. Food is always hot and fresh tasting although expect to wait for it be cooked about 10-15 mins. I usually just call my order in before I head up there but it's worth the wait. The chicken sandwiches are really good as well as just the chicken. It's always very good quality tender meat. Haven't tried any of the sides other than the fries which were great too. I got donuts from here once when they first opened but I guess they don't sell donuts anymore but they were really good hopefully they'll come back! read more

All the good reviews had me and my son seriously excited to try their fried chicken, and to grab a few donuts for later. Well aware of the closing time of 7pm, and it takes 15 minutes for chicken, we walked in at 6:18pm. We were told "we close at 7, carry out only". Wtf. I don't live anywhere near here, it's me and my 12 year old son, what are we gonna do, eat in the parking lot while they are still open? No. So, ok, at least we can get a couple of donuts. We pick two out of the display donuts, order two, pay for them, then I'm told "we are out of the one you wanted". Whatever, just give me a donut. Mistake. The oreo donut was a dry chocolate cake affair, didn't taste oreo at all. Not at all the experience I came here for. Positives: the Boston cream filled my son had, he said it was the best ever. I have mixed feelings, while the food was a 7/10, I have to give the restaurant a 3/10. The pictures on here make it seem as a cozy, modern restaurant but upon arrival we questioned if it was the right place because looked completely different, it reminded me of a hole-in-the-wall chinese takeout restaurant. It was very eerie, everyone in the restaurant at the time either spoke very softly or were silent, the tv was on the news channel and was louder than anyone in the restaurant. There are no where near the amount of creative dishes as I see in other older reviews. They no longer serve the doughnuts I see on here either. I had the rotisserie chicken, coleslaw and Jasmine rice. The chicken was moist and had a delicious flavor. I also enjoyed the creamy coleslaw. The rice lacked flavor and I wasn't particularly fond of the pecan dipping sauce. Oh well, I came for the chicken and it delivered! The service was also spot on. Love this place ! Yelp needs to be updated because they no longer have breakfast or do doughnuts but the chicken is amazing ! I've had take out twice and eaten inside once. My chicken has always been hot, fresh, juicy and perfectly cooked. The brioche buns are amazing the sriracha honey chicken sandwich ( which had amazing fresh pickled Banh mi veggies) is one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. In town for Super 32....Fantastic fried chicken. Juicy and flavorful. We tried the siracha, Korean glaze and the Nashville Hot. All were fantastic. The baked Mac 'n cheese is just the right blend of cheese and cooked just enough to have a crust. The garlic green beans were cooked perfectly- firm but tender and not too much garlic. The coleslaw was outstanding! The cabbage was crunchy and the dressing had just enough zip. Be sure to save room for dessert.. their banana pudding was crazy good. The vanilla wafer was soggy enough to cut but firm enough to still taste good. The whipped cream was light and creamy. Not too sweet. Finally the fried waffle donut... we got The cinnamon/sugar. Tucked away in a small strip center flanked by laundromats and other businesses, but the food is good despite the wait. The chicken was crispy , tasty and piping hot. I ordered plain, but they offer spices and seasonings if you are adventurous. The sides were plentiful and arrived at a nice steaming temperature as well. So disappointed that they just decided to stop serving donuts. I have never heard of a restaurant branded for making two things just drop one of their key features. Apparently they stopped serving donuts in July 2018. I am not interested in a plain chicken place. Without the donut buns the chicken sandwich wasn't anything to write home about. Everything was ok. If I had been expecting to eat just chicken I would have been satisfied but I was excited about donuts and chicken together. Oh well, I guess we will find a new donut place. Such a bummer! read more

We were in town for a work trip and wanted some southern comfort food and Scratch delivered the goods. The chicken was so juicy, the breading was really crunchy and flakey, just had that homemade feel to it. The waffle was also delicious, and I thought the Mac and cheese was pretty good. We also shared some Nashville hot flavored wings and those had a good little kick but again the flavor and texture of the breading was what stood out.
