I wanted to love this place- we have been passing by it for years. We live close to downtown and with the big Spurs game at the Alamodome decided to leave our neck of woods. Normally we have our Friday date night at our fave Italian restaurant off Broadway - took the long drive out excited to finally try this place. The only friendly person we encountered was the male at the front - once we were walked to our table the experience went down hill. Our waiter was NOT friendly, snotty and impatient and felt like a drill sergeant- I have never been made to feel this way by any restaurant - but the waiter and also the male who brought our food out made us feel like we weren't good enough to be in their restaurant. We were rushed up until we received the bill. The pizza was barely cooked - I didn't even bother eating it- unsweetened tea tasted like it's been sitting there and not fresh. I will admit the Caesar salad and Chicken Parmesan were very good. I also wanted to add that my husband does not like to put his napkin on his lap for whatever reason but to each his own- the waiter who looked annoyed took the napkin from the corner of the table and put it on my husbands lap- what the heck was that all about? Again I wanted to love this place so much, we left feeling embarrassed, hungry and a ruined date night. All other tables were enjoying their meals, having drinks and were not being rushed the way were. The only thing I have left to add is never judge a book by its cover- our money is green just like anybody else. Don't come to this restaurant unless you are in your Sunday's Best. I will take downtown high and low end restaurants who appreciate and respect my business and let me be who I am. read more

It's been over a year since I've been here. Frankly I would rate them 3and 1/2 stars. Not 4. COVID must have dealt them a blow as their prices have gone up. I came here very last minute during the week, I was tired from work and didn't feel like cooking... and I am so glad I stopped. The restaurant is beautiful with great lighting. I was quickly seated and was well taken care of by my server, Andy (pretty sure). I ordered the calamari as my appetizer. The calamari was tender, delicious and perfect. The main dish was the chefs special, and was it. Shrimp sea bass and sauce was delicious. For the service and amazing food, there is a price to pay, and so worth it when you visit Scuzzis. What can I say that has not already been said. Well I am Sicilian that moved from Southern California to Texas. I have been looking for really good Italian food. I have driven by it a few times and decided to yesterday stop by and have lunch first. The Minestrone soup was amazing and the Scuzzi Shrimp with angel hair pasta was wow. The Shrimp was Texas jumbo shrimp very good. The home made bread was amazing as well. The staff is great. Mazi the owner has brought Italy to Texas in a great way. Later that day I brought my Wife and a neighbor friend for Dinner. They out did themselves once again. My lamb chops was cooked to perfection the bed of mashed potatoes was a meal by it self. My wife had Chicken Marsala and it was really good. Our friend had the Scallops and she said it was the best Scallops she has ever had. We did start with the Cheese and meat board and that was epic. The Ambiance is friendly and feels welcoming. The staff friendly and waiting to make sure your experience is epic. I have some staple plates I eat all the time like their Shrimp Scuzzi, Cannelloni and even their Spaghetti with Pampadoro sauce is so delicious. Then save room for dessert because Scuzzi's has one of the best Creme Brulee in the city. The staff is friendly and always such in a wonderful mood. I have been here three times. While the food is great; the service is sub par. There is no bell, button, nothing that alerts the bartenderds that orders are ready. The service was amazing by Dan as well as the food !!!! The ambience was beautiful. They also have many choices of tequila and bourbons.

We had a reservation for a graduation dinner of 30. The service was great! there were so many different waiters attending to us and none of our glasses of tea were ever empty. They were extremely polite, brought more bread, checked on us many times, asked if we wanted our food boxed up, etc. Mazi was the lead manager and he was very courteous and accomodating. We had a preset menu of shrimp scuzzi, lasagna or chicken picatta. All the guests raved how delicious the food was, especially the shrimp and the lasagna. We will be back and bring our friends! Excellent service from a very attentive wait staff. We've noticed the restaurant has changed some of thier practices to be more upscale and the results are noticeable. The food is always superb and I personally feel their signature shrimp dish is much better than the other Italian restaurant across 1604 from them. Shrimp is tender and the sauce is thick and flavorful. The manager Mazi always take the time to welcome me and shake my hand. I love this restaurant so much, after I left the hospital this was the first place I wanted to go out to eat at. We've had many parties and reunions here and they've never disappointed us. read more

Visited on a Saturday evening out with family. Upon arrival place wasn't too busy and we were easily accommodated! The service was exceptional, waiter was very attentive and courteous which is why I rate this place at a four star for the most part. The food was moderate, my wife ordered the chicken Parmesan and I order the beef lasagna. It's the holidays. I want to support local but this business needs to get their act together. I called the night before to order a 12 person lunch. The person who took my order seemed annoyed to have to take the order in the first place. I was put on hold for a long period of time. Hung up on had to keep calling asking for total and please take my name and time I'm picking up Get here they are confused by the order they have the time wrong for pick up. I had a bad feeling about my order. The gentleman at the front was very nice and kept apologizing about the confusion. I do understand sometimes the person hired to represent the business is having a bad day but having the right attitude is a game changer. Mazi who was at the front was terrific. He brought out the food and double checked it in front of me. Labeled the few items I needed. He carried the food out to my car. He opened my car door and handed me his card. Good enough food, as good as any good Italian restaurant. But this restaurant proves that there is more to enjoyable dining then good food. We just had the most boring dining experience in our lives. The place is dull and lifeless, yes, meaning an almost empty restaurant.. A dimly lit dining room with the lower half being dark brown and the upper half being a medium shade of brown, A really lifeless atmosphere. Setting up a card table in the Sistine chapel would have been more lively. And on top of this, their menu prices are way too expensive. I am not sure how much longer this place can drag on like this if something is not changed, but I know that we will never go back there again. Came here for my birthday. Food was decent and my wife and I said it was worth coming back to try again. As the server was clearing our plates my 5 year old told the waiter I was 44 and the waiter said with a laugh, "I don't care." I looked at him and said are, "Are you kidding me?" He immediately said he was sorry and tried to say he was joking, which he clearly wasn't. I told the manager on the way out what happened and was told he was very sorry about the experience. Updated from a previous 1 star rating: The manager called us and apologized for the lack of service. They made good on the situation and we did go back tonight for a meal. The food was absolutely excellent. Sausage cacciatore, different pastas, fried ravioli, bread and cannoli were all excellent. The manager, Mazi, was very attentive and apologetic for our experience last night. I have to say that although yesterday was a bust, tonight was a win and I think this is a management team that does care. Only negative from tonight was again... the silly valet service. Not necessary and the service takes up the prime spots for valet parking. Usually valet parking is in the back because the valet brings the car to you. Why would you choose valet just to have them park 20 feet from the door? Again... silly and a small complaint compared to the quality of the food and the excellent service inside. Precious 1 Star rating: What a huge disappointment. We had reservations on Valentines Day at 7:15. When we arrived at the parking lot, they had a make shift valet service set up that caused a huge traffic jam in the parking lot. Obvious money grab. No need for valet in that tiny parking lot. Then we went inside and the lobby was absolutely crowded. We waited in a large line with others who had reservations. When we got to the host, they told us it would be 30 minutes to be seated. Apparently they don't know how reservations work. Thankfully the evening was saved. We left and went next door to Free Tail Brewery. We weren't alone. Ok, there was 45 of us gathered to send my husband's boss off to retirement. That on of itself could cause service to not be so smooth and it wasn't. It was hard to tell how many servers were assigned to our group. We did have a private room. Taking our orders went well and they would keep track of separate tickets. The 20% gratuity would be applied to all. Started off well we got our drinks, but refills were a challenge. The better places have people dedicated to just taking care of drinks and refills. When the food finally started to be delivered, it was sporadic. A few dishes came out, then a period of wait time. It was hard to adhere to the 'don't eat until more than 50% are served' rule. We didn't wait. Don't want cold food. The food is pretty good. Giving everyone their bills went swimmingly. Ha, ha. read more
