It's been awhile since I came here, I ordered dimsum to go. I ate couple pieces of har gow in the car before I drive. It was not hot! It was a disappointment when I started to eat it at home! I ordered the steamed beef in rice roll and they gave me the steamed bbq pork rice roll! The deep fried tao dumplings tasted rotten when I took a bite, I ended up throwing the whole order away and the rest of the dimsum didn't seem to taste fresh. I am not too thrilled with the service and food this time!

This is an institution over 30 years now that we come every Sunday for Dim sum . The menu is vast and delicious and service is fantastic all staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable. I love the Peking duck and all the seafood is very good and all sides dishes green beans are a favorite. The restaurant is ideal for a large party also magnificent room with natural light . The koi in entrance is very beautiful and love to cross the bridge ! Lovely bar too. I highly recommend this restaurant and you will make it a habit .

Was in the area for some Thai dessert and saw dim sum and decided to give it a try. I've always been a fan of this chain but for their seafood. I think this will be my first time trying their dim sum. There's ample amount of parking at it's in a HUGE shopping center with a lot of other Asian establishments including Tokyo central (supermarket) The moment I stepped in, was immediately greeted and seated. We got a seat right by the fish pond ;) We ordered the chicken sticky rice which we liked as there's chicken and shrimp, cream buns were a bit on the sweeter side, the egg tart was a complete fail / it was hard and stale, chicken feet was ok, lacked flavor and shumai wasn't that good. Overall: the service was excellent but the dim sum was not. I would not return for the dim sum :(

Came here for dim sum. We were hoping for the steam carts that come around, but we did come after 2 PM, so we had to order the dim sum off the menu. We ordered char sui bow, har gow, pork shiu mai, stuffed bell peppers, and steamed Taiwan dumplings. Everything was served hot and the har gow, shiu mai, steamed dumplings, and stuffed peppers were ver juicy. The char shiu bow was a bit on the dry side, so had to deduct one star. The servers and bus people were very attentive. Overall a very good experience for dim sum without driving to Chinatown or East Los Angeles.

Decent dim sum amd they have basically everything that you typically would order at a dim sum restaurant. As soon as you sit down, they bring the cart out to you and ask you what you want. If you know what you want right away then you can basically start eating within a minute of sitting down. My favorite ones are the xiu mai and pineapple bun. They always hit the spot. Sometimes i like getting their pork buns as well. But compared to the locations in the San Gabriel valley area, I would say this is on the lower end in terms of quality. The service here is otherwise very friendly and efficient. The ambience is nice and quiet enough for you to have a conversation without struggling to hear the other person. Despite how I feel about this restaurant in comparison to the ones I know in San Gabriel valley, this is still my go to location in the south bay. And honestly its my number one location in terms of quality, speed, and price.

Very rarely does a restaurant deserve a 1-star rating, and unfortunately, Sea Empress is that restaurant. We came here for the dim sum service and it was really disappointing. We regularly go to dim sum in the 626 area so we know that poor service is a rite of passage for dim sum places and that will never change. But the food was pretty atrocious. We hit the usual - har gow, shumai, and turnip cakes. The har gow had a hard exterior, which felt like they re-heated from the night before or something. The shumai had an enormous amount of filler and no shrimp nor pork taste. And the turnip cake was thick. Do yourself a favor and just drive to the 626 for good dim sum. Sea Empress was just not it.

This good but the food isn't pushed on carts now. Food is ordered off of the menu. Everything was delicious as always. I personally like to see the food and order but this probably saves more food. The service is typical Chinese restaurant so be aware and should be fine. The restaurant is large for big parties but has seating for 2.

Located in a busy shopping center where, depending on which day & time you go, parking can be challenging. Dim sum is served everyday so that's a plus! Good service with good food brought to your table quickly. I'm used to larger sized portions and I love to eat, so this is not a complaint but just a notice (for all y'all who like big portions like myself), the chicken and pork buns are super cute and nearly 2 bite sized. So just order 2 or 3 and you should be good!

We came on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was fairly empty. The restaurant was dead silent, it felt awkward to talk. The Dim Sum options are very limited and there aren't rolling carts when we went. We tried ordering the Calamari, but the worker later told us it wouldn't be available until 40 mins later. Our food came out barely warm and was cold, a little disappointing. The food was ok, wish it was warmer that would've helped. The restaurant is a decent size and probably doesn't get busy until the afternoon. They do Dim Sum everyday which is pretty cool! ig: @cravingswithcat

I'm a little bummed that Sea Empress has dropped in quality after all these years. Like, significantly. Dim sum is always a great time but phew, this time was very off. Everything was dry and old tasting, lacking in any substantial flavor. I had to use a whole lot of soy sauce and mustard to even swallow anything. The turnip cake was flour with turnip breathed on it. It's not representative of turnip cake at all. The steamed bbq pork buns were soggy and falling apart. The chang fen was okay at best, but that's not saying much. I don't even need to talk about the chicken feet, har gow, or anything else cause I'm gonna rip into those as well. So what can I say? Dim sum in the south bay hasn't always been the best but Sea Empress has really disappointed me so not sure where to go next moving forward.

The quality of this has gone way down! When you first walk in, there's a stench of ammonia mixed with mold. We got an order of tripe and it was cold. Tripe smelled so strong as if it was not washed. The fried mochi savory dumplings were soggy and greasy. Not good!

Personally, I don't see how that's a negative. While dining here, I saw families with children enjoying the food without any issues--they simply cut the dumplings into smaller pieces before eating them. Larger portions mean you're getting more for your money, and the quality certainly backs it up. The service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff stayed on top of everything, from bringing out dishes promptly to keeping water glasses filled and checking in to make sure we were having a great experience. They made us feel genuinely welcomed and comfortable throughout our visit. The restaurant also has a modern, upscale dim sum atmosphere that feels inviting without being pretentious. As for the food, the Shrimp Har Gow and Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai were absolutely fantastic. The ingredients tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and every bite was satisfying. At the end of the day, I'd much rather spend $10 on high-quality, jumbo-sized dim sum that actually fills me up than spend $20 on tiny portions at DTF. For me, Lunasia is an easy 5/5 and has become my favorite spot for dim sum.

It brought back some memories that were nostalgic, but moreover, the excitement I felt when I came to this area was blissful. The place is called steamed buns inside, but renamed to nikuman-ya. The interior is majestic with plenty of shopping things for japanese culture. The store provides a lot of snacks and groceries found in Japanese markets like marukai (Japanese superstore similar to Ralph's/vons), but there is a sushi section in the back and a few vendors such as this steam bun place. The price for the red bean and cream steam bun was $8 for 2 of them. They were quite small in size and I did not like that. There was a slightly larger steam bun called the seafood steam bun and you get 1 of those for $8. So in total, $16 for three steam buns. Although the steam buns were tasty, no way were they worth what they costed and to be fair, 626 night market in Arcadia along with smorgasburg outside vendors charge a better value even though overpriced more so than this place. I shared the buns with my aunt who visited me today. We both agreed that the steam buns were overpriced but we don't typically eat this sort of food for many years. The steam buns texture was soft and easy to bite into. I enjoyed the flavor and texture of the warm softness bite into it. But it did not fill my stomache up. I was hungry after consuming all three with a little bit of help. Even without the help, I would still eat all three up and be hungry still. The service was fast and friendly however; the Japanese staff were definitely good people. The places to sit around are plentiful on a Sunday. I would not buy those specific buns. They had other interesting steam bun bao like "baoger " but again the pricing if off with it. It was $12 before taxes and it does not come with sides. It physically looked like a small burger the size of a hamburger at McDonald's and I believe the meat lettuce tomatoes and onions inside it were not wagyu or some sort of expensive meat. A gimmick but it taste good so I can't dock it for that. The surrounding area of course were great.

I hate gristle, this Kung pow was sublime. Sweet-and-sour pork. I basically given up on this dish because no one gets it right, and it's always an excuse to hide gristle and fat. Not in this case. It was super tasty and for the first time I can remember there wasn't 1 ounce of gristle in this meat. It was just crispy tasty wonderful. Hong Kong style chow mein with pork. Another dish I haven't had in years, and this place nailed it. Reminded me of my old China house restaurant in Alameda. I mean it was really good. The pork was awesome, the gravy was perfect. What a great dish. The fried rice was excellent. Not greasy at all. I believe we got a combination fried rice and man was it good. Shrimp with lobster sauce. This was excellent, God this dinner was just so great, and this dish was right in there with the rest of them. I can't wait to go visit family again so I can eat at this place. It was spectacular. Oh and the last thing, the hot and sour soup was amazing. Again haven't had this type of food since I left the Bay Area. I give this meal a triple wow!!!

I ended up coming really close to closing time but the service was still fast. Food was HOT & of course made to order. I did burn my tongue.... But it's okay I had a cold Thai tea to help suppress that burn. Thai tea 4/5 -- on the sweeter side for me. But still carries that robust Thai flavor to it. Spicy chicken 5/5 -- huge kick to it. Looks innocent... is deadly. I loved the spiciness. I'm all about spice so this was really nice to try. Shrimp fried rice 5/5 -- I can't believe a shrimp fried this rice... it's splendid. Uh-mah-zing. We love her. Perfect shrimp to rice ratio. Not too salty. Perfect amount of umami 12pc shrimp dumplings-- 4/5 oooo they were HOT. Flavor could be improved a bit, but otherwise texture and quality was delightful. Parking is in the plaza. It's a small place maybe 10 tables max? They have a single use restroom as well.

This place has only 8 tables so either you come on a good day when its empty which we did but it can get filled up quickly due to a large party or families. We ordered the cucumber salad appetizer...pan fried nappa pork dumplings and pork scallion buns.....and They had nooooo FLAVOR. The cucumber salad was diced to oblivion ..we might as well have gotten spoons instead of chopsticks....no spice just drenched in water and soy sauce....no garlic...no szechuan pepper oil. The dumpling and buns had no flavors....no ginger...no seasonings... my wife had to put SALT IN THE CUCUMBERS! ....yes!.... SALT!.... Parking was plenty...

The staff remembered us and provided friendly, attentive service throughout the meal. It's hard to find a place that stays this consistent, and that's exactly why I came back. By the way, I also loved the star jasmine by the entrance--the fragrance was amazing and made the whole place feel even more inviting. Looking forward to my next visit!

Located on the corner of PCH and Penn Ave, the restaurant features its own 16-car parking lot. Inside, the décor is quite casual, and it is spacious enough to accommodate 50 guests. Upon arrival, the friendly staff promptly guided us to our table and brought menus and water right away. While perusing their menu, we found out they have stinky tofu. Yes, stinky tofu! The dish, with its pungent aroma and unique flavor, caused the ultimate sensory conflict between the taste and smell when we tried it for the first time. So, in a benign masochistic way, we went ahead and ordered their Crispy Spicy Stinky Tofu with Pork. When the dish arrived, we apologized profusely to our next table patrons for the smell, and even offered to let them try it, which they unhesitatingly and politely refused. This restaurant's version was slightly different. The fried tofu cubes had a tougher texture, less airy, and were lightly flavored. The sauce was nicely spicy, but the ground pork was present only in spirit because we couldn't find it. Overall, it was not too bad, but it could be better. Besides the tofu dish, we also ordered their Seafood in Crab Meat Sauce Noodle. This was an interesting dish. The soup came separately from the noodles and starchy sauce, which had shrimp and fish fillet toppings. This setup allows you to dilute the soup's thickness to your liking. The noodles were nicely al dente, the sauce was well seasoned, and the shrimp and fish filets had a great texture. Crab meat sauce was blended in the broth and kind of MIA. Lastly, we ordered Black Pepper Seafood Rice Cake. The sauce was pleasantly savory, a tad sweet, and slightly spicy from black peppers. The sliced rice cakes had a perfect texture: neither too soft nor too hard. The pieces of squid and fish filet toppings had a very nice consistency. The prices were reasonable and the food was very good. Recommended.
