I've heard this place is really good. Our family was in the area for a separate errand and decided to try the beignets. It's hard to find beignets in the Clear Lake Area. The beignets were a bit heavy on the dough. We'll probably come back another day to try something else on their menu but won't be ordering beignets again. We like to support family owned businesses. We haven't been dining in since before April. They have a curbside pick-up option that we feel comfortable with. From the outside the place looked pretty crowded. I've always loved this place. And honestly whenever we are craving some good ahi tuna we come here! There burgers, sweet potato fries amazing! Yesterday I got the chicken fried chicken with mash potato and green beans the it was so good. I had to add some salt and pepper to my sides because they were a tad bland but it made the difference and it was delicious. This place is 28 minuets from us so we don't come here as often as we'd like but my brother is buying a home in Bacliff that is 14 min away so whenever we visit him, we are definitely coming here if not to eat, then to drink at the Back door. One thing that really stuck out was the fact that they don't use plastic straws, how awesome, they were paper. We were all so excited to try this place and hungry. Unfortunately, did not satisfy our taste buds. The fruit cup and coffee were on point. When our food was finally served the butter did not even melt on our pancakes or French toast. The pancakes were hard, way too over cooked. Hash browns were decent.... Service was the real winner here and the food was solid. Wait staff and greeter were very welcoming and made our breakfast enjoyable on a busy Saturday morning. Ambiance was ok. Had a younger couple dropping f bombs sitting next to us which was a little jolting but whatever. Very good omelette - feta, spinach, added fresh and hot jalapeños. Spanish omelette was also prepared well and enjoyed. The only real miss was the crab cake Benedict. The sauce and egg cooked perfectly but the crab... well it just was too fishy in a borderline "we should send it back" kind of way. We just moved the cakes to the side and pretended it was regular eggs benedict. Maybe the crabs were just angry that day. Biscuits were gigantic!! They kind of deserved more than the little single serve jellies in the little condiment holder. They were grand, two story tall behemoths. We will be back but leave the crabs in the ocean. read more

We've visited Sea Brook Cafe twice, and thought the food was really good. I ordered the Lemon Chicken piccata with side of mac and cheese and green beans both times and was very pleased with my order. Fiancé ordered the Hamburg steak, with fried okra and mac and cheese/fries both times and "loved it". We ordered the peanut butter pie the first time, and it was very good. As you can imagine it was very rich, so it was a good idea to share a slice. The second visit we had the chocolate cream pie and banana cream pie. They were okay, not our favorites but that's just preference. Our dining experience was nice, quaint, able to converse and enjoy our meals. Service was average both times, not bad nor exemplary. We were seated quickly both times with no waiting. Food and atmosphere makes this place a little gem. We will definitely be back when we are in Sea Brook next time. read more

I grew up here and the good used to be amazing! It was one of my favorite spots. Now it's mediocre at best. First off hardly any (if any) vegan options. My side salad was a JOKE. The lettuce was so wet there was water at the bottom of the bowl. My daughter's said her shrimp tasted old and chewy. This whole city is on the water. Fresh seafood is sold half a mile away. This should never happen around here. Plus the service was slow and awful. Dad to say it because this used to be a Seabrook legacy but skip this place and go around the corner to tookies seafood. read more

This is the spot yall. We came in town from Austin for a couple days on the boardwalk and to go to schlitterbahn. We ate here twice in the same day. The turkey avocado cream cheese sandwich was perfection. The Cuban was perfection. The French dip. Shitballs y'all. Perfection. Just eat here. Great service too. So went for the CFS this week since I heard it was epic. NOT. Sure it was good but far from awesome. It was not huge, it was not special, the gravy was not amazing. It a good price at 10.50 . The mashed potatoes were not all that good but were home made youkon gold and the gravy was legit. I mean I want to say it was amazing but I just can't. I'd eat it again but I would not go out of my way to do so. Now service was amazing and I like the place with a full bar so you can get a real drink. Old people seem to love this place judging by the crowd. Lastly we had some pie. Yes they are known for their pies. Once again it was Meh. It was ok but at 5 bucks a slice it was not worth it. We had coconut cream and chocolate and both were ok but not special. So in a nutshell this place is just average food wise but over priced for what you get. read more

This area is congested with chains, but it's great to see a sprinkle of local businesses from time to time. Apparently, Classic Cafe is this hood's institution. Rightfully so, I dunno. You can be the judge. Their breakfast and pies seem to be a hit, but I didn't get to try either. Mainly because breakfast was no longer an option when we arrived. In this case, their cut-off is 11:30 am. We got there at 11:33 and the kitchen told us no. I hate it when a restaurant won't serve you breakfast past a certain time. I mean, we didn't want anything special like pancakes or waffles which would require whipping up some fresh batter; all we wanted were some eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. (It was a long night, we had.) As I sat there disappointed, but opted for the next best hangover cure-all: a classic cheeseburger. Total meh. Hardly any cheese, the lettuce was shredded and it was't piping hot. The buttered and toasted bread was pretty baller though. My dining companions, however, loved their order of chicken fried steak, mac 'n' cheese and green beans. I snuck a taste, and it was all good, but by the taste of the sodium soaked green beans, methinks they're straight from the can. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I do have a lot of family in the Clear Lake/Webster/Dickinson area. So if we ever wanted coffee and pie, I would come back for a treat. read more

This place is famous for their tasty icebergs and sweeet tea! Now at nights, the back of the restaurants is the place to be! They too have a large bar area indoor and outdoors to watch the game, sipping on your alchy drinky-drink with some chips, queso, and salsa. Food is pretty good. The service needs some serious improvement though. I've been here about 5 times now. I had great service one time & terrible service all of the other times. This last time I got a takeout order & left a 10% tip even though it was only takeout. The waitress forgot to put one of the items I paid for in the bag. I didn't realize until I got halfway home & had to come back. She admitted it was her fault, but lacked showing any apology for her mistake. All the while my hot food getting cold because I had to come back. After being in the service industry for many years, this really put me off. I understand mistakes are made, but acting like it's no big deal is not. Wish I could've asked for the tip back. If this review were based only on service, it'd be a 1 star. Loved our food, the service was awesome, and the place has a hometown cafe feel... Which is appropriate, because that's exactly what it is. It's obviously popular with the Blue Hairs, which is a testament to their country cooking. So, have I mentioned the pie? We couldn't make up our minds, so two slices to share. The Key Lime Pie was so creamy and delicious on their homemade graham cracker crust, and the Pecan Pie was OMGGOOD. Went in for dinner after the kids regatta. Service was friendly and fast. We had a larger party, 8 and everything was handled very well. Even after a meal had to be replaced due to a food allergy. On a recommendation, I ordered the shrimp & grits, as did another person in our party. She loved it, I not so much. It was served with lots of sauce, so it was almost a soup. The grits were delicious, but I couldn't love the rest. I like my shrimp and grits dry. Flavor was a little off too. The seared tuna and the S.O.B appetizers were both good. They don't have a great deal that a vegetarian can eat, for that reason alone, I never suggest going here with friends. Last time I ate here I had grilled zucchini and a side. It was VERY tasty. We prefer to sit in the bar area in the back, it's first come seating and the bar is right there. The waitresses in the bar are great- super attentive, quick and make the best drinks. We always get the Iceberg- it's a frozen mimosa topped with champagne and it's a great way to start your morning! We also always start off with the bengiets- fresh & fluffy covered in powdered sugar! Comes three in an order, so if you have a larger group, order more. We've had everything from the eggs benedict, the garbage plate, the waffle dogs, breakfast sandwich to migas. They have a solid breakfast menu with lots of options. Everyone should be able to find something on this menu and if you are a breakfast fan, you won't be disappointed. Recommend you get there early on Sundays, as they have a regular crowd in both the front & bar area! Prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is divey, local cafe feel. I really don't get the catfish battered chicken tenders?!? They used to be so good, with country fried steak batter on them. But they've changed their recipe or cooks because the last two orders were made with catfish batter. My kids won't touch them. My last order was a Togo order, and the teenager who helped me was rude and did not complete my order. We got home to an entire plate of food missing (partial my mistake, should have checked) and a side a Mac and cheese. My favorite here for breakfast are the Migas and my husband swears by the huevos rancheros. I must be honest and point out that the beignets don't hold a torch to Café Dumond. For lunch the Cuban sandwich is something that I break out in cold sweats when I think of ordering anything else. But the little tuna sliders are so so good as well. My husband gets the full-size version of the tuna burger. Sweet potato fries? Awesome. A good place for a burger.. Gumbo thick mess of unusual flavor. Chowder still too thick but the flavor was better. Fried shrimp and coleslaw are good. Batter on the shrimp is light and crisp. Shrimp are large and meaty. We would highly recommend the fried shrimp. Nice atmosphere and the staff is friendly. When down this way it is where we always stop for lunch. I lost all respect for this cafe today. We were trying to find somewhere that was open for pick up orders, as some places are closed due to the quarantine. We called in an order and picked it up, and they automatically charge an 18% gratuity as if we were dining in and getting served, and they don't even charge an auto gratuity when you do dine in.
