This place is straight-up amazing -- especially the service. Food: The Boudin Benedict? Absolute fire. Don't be fooled by the simple presentation... this thing hits hard. Flavor for days. Atmosphere: Classic small-diner energy -- cozy, old-school, the kind of spot that feels like it's been part of the neighborhood forever. Service: Katelyn was the star of the whole show. Sweet, sharp, hilarious -- she took the experience from "good breakfast" to "yeah, I'm definitely coming back." Word on the street is there are three Katelyns working here, so do yourself a favor and ask for the one pictured below. Trust me.

So we have eaten here a few times but this time, we dashed it. I was feeling under the weather so I only ordered the coconut meringue pie pictured. I ordered my guy the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. I had one bite of his hamburger steak and decided next time, I will definitely order it even though it's not normally my thing. The gravy was on point with all the sautéed mushrooms and onions. Grandma is in their kitchen, I swear. She is back there baking the pies and cooking up the perfect down home food. From past experience, portions are large as far as seafood platters, etc. and the price is affordable. If you are in the area and want decent food on a budget, it is the "classic" move. Oh, yeah, there is a bar in the back. You can eat back there too. You can take drinks to go for the boat as well, I believe. Enjoy! I am going to go again soon. Cheers! The pies remind me of my mom's. She loved making crusts from scratch, etc. Real deal cooking here!

Great diner spot. Their prime rib was on point! My friends had the 10 oz medium rare. I had the liver and onions, it came with two sides. The pies are really great too! A solid choice. The waitstaff was friendly and on point. Highly recommend!

Walked in wanting pie and coffee. Two tables with customers. . Empty tables everywhere. Employees scattered when we walked in. Couldn't sit where we wanted. So we left. Terrible customer service today. Just awful. They did not want customers right then. Nor did they want to make money. Absolutely bizarre.

    Shrimp & Grits

Wow! The shrimp & grits were to die for! It was such a great dish! Very flavorful! I love that the sausage was cut up into small bites and it wasn't overpowering. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, as were the grits. The warm thick bread was great for sopping up the juice. So tasty! I also really enjoyed the Iceberg aka: "mimosa on steroids"! This is a frozen screwdriver slushy with champagne on top. If you order the large, you get a plastic keepsake cup to bring back with you. Beyond the food, my waitress was impressive! Her service was fabulous and she was very personable! I came there on Thursday during my last day in Houston. I will definitely be back when I visit Houston again! Thank you for the great dining experience!

This has been on my To Do list for a while and when I had errands close by we braved the construction. And I was so glad we did! Quaint little diner with homemade /homey dishes and home baked desserts. Also, a sneaky bar in the back so full bar with any meal. Their specialty drink the "iceberg" is a frozen screwdriver with a champagne floater. It was delicious. The servers were super nice and the food came out quickly and everything was amazing-not just good. Will definitely put this in our regular rotation and they have breakfast until 11:30 AM with a great looking menu too.

We made a trip to Seabrook on Saturday and on our way home Sunday, we decided to stop in to one of our favorite breakfast spots. The food is tasty and the service was great! Joe was very polite and checked on us just enough times that we never had an empty glass or dirty plates on the table. I ordered the San Antonio omelet with the ranchero on the side. The omelet was delicious!! However, the wheat toast was hard. I thought, this bread is stale. But nope, I asked Joe to replace my toast because I could build a house with it! He asked his manager, because it wasn't the first time someone had complained about the toast. The manager told him that the bread is from a local bakery and it just comes like that. I found that to be strange, but ok... The hash browns were also a little dry too. I should have gotten the home fries. The restaurant is clean. The bathrooms are still pretty small, but clean. I love this place all else aside because it's nostalgic and well, Classic! Oh...try the beignets! Yum!! HOT TIP: If you check in using your Yelp app when you get here, you get a free side of mac n cheese, creamy grits or 1 beignet! Enjoy!

He checked on us often. The bourbon pumpkin smash had just the right amount of sweetness. The hot bread and butter was great. I ordered the shrimp scampi. I appreciated the spinach and tomatoes. It was a lighter dish than I expected but turned out to be perfect for a warm night. It was lacking flavor but adding generous amounts of salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese made a big difference. My companion had the tropical crab salad and it was fantastic. Refreshing and flavorful. The whole, sliced avocado was a nice touch. And it was just a vibrant looking dish. We sat outside and a gaggle of ducks kept hanging out with us. I thought it was cute (minus the duck waste), but it was a bit much for my companion who doesn't like birds on the least). All in all a lovely time during my visit to TX.

We wanted…read moresomewhere to chill for happy hour before we had to pick up my nephew from school and this came up on the Google Maps search. It was a hit for all 3 of us! We decided to get the tasting option and try some of the nice variety of beers and sours they offered. I can't remember which ones I got but I also tried my daughter and sister's choices. Everything was delicious except the wings we ordered were dry-rubbed and were too hard & crispy to me. I'm very picky about my buffalo wings, though. The service was fantastic and it's a fairly big place that is probably packed on the weekend. It's family friendly, too, with a playground right next to their outdoor patio.

**Tip-Shaming Warning**…read more I really want to love this place. The atmosphere is great; I hear they are community minded; and everyone here has always been nice. But this joint can't decide whether it is a bar or a restaurant. I have previously talked about how spectacular the fish & chips are -- then they removed them from the menu. This weekend, I took my father to this place only to find out that the lunch menu selection wouldn't fill a napkin. Not to mention, they were out of mustard. What respectable joint in Texas runs out of mustard when hamburgers are on the menu? About the burger... The cheeseburger and fries are quite a bit more expensive here than legit burger joints in our area such as Stomp's or Tookies. Further, I've had better burgers in a commissary and at amusement parks. There is nothing fresh about the meat. And then there's the mustard. When I order a burger with mustard (and you don't have mustard), why bring it to me dry? A decent server would come to the table and say "Sir, I know you wanted mustard, but we don't have any." Additionally, I asked for a side of pickles with my burger, which didn't come. So I asked the server, in the presence of the food runner, "Can you bring me the side of pickles?" The food runner chimed in "They're on the burger." -- I wanted to jump down his throat, but I instead ignored him and redirected my comment to the server (whom I requested the side of pickles when I placed my order.) In addition to the marginal food, the customer service here is quite lacking. Though our server was a nice guy, he seemed to half-ass everything. And then he brought the iPad and stood over us while we paid the bill ... which included pre-set tip amounts. I've worked in food service, as has pretty much everyone in my family. When you stand over me while I'm calculating your gratuity, you are likely to get squat. -- Even the Wall Street Journal has written about the gauche nature of this "tip shaming" practice. And so, our server got what he deserved ... very little. (If he'd left me with the iPad and moved on, I likely would've felt more charitable. His mistake.) This place could and should do better. But it needs to decide whether it wants to be a restaurant or a bar. It could do both, but not for long in the way they are currently operating.
