So sad the one in temple city closed down! However, this one is still open! We enjoyed seafood palace in las tunas and decided to come here to give it a try. First, parking was so difficult!! So many cars crammed close to each other and the restaurant wasn't even full, but we parked in the street nearby. The place had plenty of seating when we arrived, spacious tables that fit our group of 16. We had a large party and split into two tables, each table had peanuts and tea, we also ordered our own bit with the same serve at the same time. We ordered our usual dishes such as corn soup, honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper squid, sal and pepper pork chops, filet beef dish, hainan chicken and many more. The service seemed slow, the bad part is that our other table got all their dishes while we had none. It took a while before our first dish arrived which was honey walnut shrimp, it was good, a bit soggy but flavorful. We asked for rice and started eating, once most of the shrimp was gone the rest of the dishes came. They were delicious, they tasted great and had good portions. The pork chop was great fresh but soon started to get tough as it cooled. The fried squid had parts that were very seasoned and some bland. My sister in law ordered a seafood tofu dish that was the best one but we ate everything before I took a photo. We also shared dishes across the tables to try out our orders. I tried the fried crab but it had more garlic than crab! The restroom was the sad part, there was no toilet paper, and no paper towels. The women's restroom door was propped wide open as well. I had to call my sister to bring in napkins for me... Overall a great meal, we may come back if the occasion allows.
Revisited this place tonight and had a nice comforting family style meal. It was only two of us sharing four plates but we are quite big eaters that we finished pretty much everything. The eating environment is nice and pretty clean. It had a very inviting atmosphere surrounded by big happy families chatting and enjoying their meal. Their menu is very nice and is filled with many selections. Tonight we ordered salt and pepper fried squid, tofu with soy sauce, beef vermicelli dish and kung pao shrimp. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more ! I also really enjoyed the hot tea that was served with our meal. We left warm, comfortable and happy!
We made reservations and were seated right away. Our party of ten received great service -- the staff was very attentive throughout the meal. I brought a bottle of wine and was charged a $10 corkage fee, which I thought was very reasonable. The restaurant changed a bit since we last visited many years ago. It was very bright decorated with pictures of the food items from their menu. There was also no background music. We ordered the following dishes: Fish maw soup Oyster omelet Clams Seafood crispy noodles Garlic crab Squab Pea sprout Minced chicken lettuce wrap Shaken beef Overall, the food was a bit on the bland side, except for the garlic crab, which was slightly too salty. The squab was a little dry, but the shaken beef stood out -- it was moist, tender, and full of flavor. That dish was definitely my favorite of the night.
So we came with a large group, It's taking a long time to get our food. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because there were many decisions and lots of changes. It's has a dim sum vibe where food runners wear white button ups black pants and managers wear the same with a vest and badge. Ambiance: it's a seafood restaurant located in SGV, limited parking spots in the two lots upfront and in the rear, but plenty of street parking available Service: only three to four servers cover the entire restaurant, it could take a while to place the order, but food was served fast afterwards, overall friendly with questions and specific requests Food: classic cantonese food menu, with emphasis on seafood Soup of the day - **** complimentary for lunch dine-in, pretty good taste, with ginger, lotus root, pork, pearl barley etc., recommend Chiu Chow Spicy Chicken - *** chicken slices were flavorful, but not spicy at all, I liked the crispy veggies Baked Pork Chop w/ Pepper and Salt - **** crispy and tasty, fresh meat texture and not too dry, recommend Deep Fried Whole Fish - *** fish was very crispy, although a bit fishy not so fresh Price: moderate portions and affordable prices, expect about $25 per person for a fulfilling meal
Having a late lunch with my family. We love their fried garlic crab. It's always a must order. We also ordered their clay pot beef glass noodle, crab and fish maw soup, on choy, sweet and sour pork. Everything was really good. I'll definitely come back when I crave for their crab.
The restaurant is located in a corner plaza where parking is limited, but you can find spots on nearby streets. Inside, there are many large round tables--great for family or friend gatherings. There weren't many people when we went on a Sunday evening, so we were seated right away. Despite the limited staff, the service was still very good. This is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Chaoshan cuisine, which is distinct from typical Cantonese food. While some dish names on the menu may sound familiar, the seasoning and preparation are unique. Bean Curd with Mushroom: I didn't have high expectations when my friend ordered this, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It featured a special mix of ingredients, including real crab meat and egg whites. The flavor had a rich umami note from the seafood--something the name doesn't really hint at. Beef Chow Fun (Dry Style): The dry preparation meant the rice noodles weren't soggy. They were cooked perfectly, with a good wok hei (the signature smoky aroma from high-heat stir-frying). Also, we asked to change beef to pork because my mom doesn't eat beef. Jellyfish & Asparagus with XO Sauce: This dish also had a nice umami flavor from the dried shrimp, but some of the asparagus wasn't very fresh. Crispy Salted Pig Foot: The skin was incredibly crispy, while the meat inside stayed tender and flavorful. These dishes were comparative affordable. 餐馆在一个路口的小广场里，广场没有太多的停车位，但可以在附近找到街边停车。餐厅里面有很多大圆桌，挺适合家庭或者朋友聚会的。 周日晚上来的人不多，所以我们也不需要等位。服务人员不太多，但服务还是挺好的。 这是一家潮汕餐馆，跟平时吃的粤菜不太一样，有它自己的特色。有些在菜单上看起来普通的菜，他们的做法会比较特别。 点了4个菜 - 珍菌玉子豆腐：意想不到的好吃。里面有真的蟹肉和蛋白，完全没有在菜名里面看出来。整个菜很鲜味 干炒河粉: 比较干身，不像很多餐馆那样做得湿答答的。河粉和里面的菜炒得很有锅气！还可以跟服务员说把里面的牛肉换成猪肉 XO酱利荀海蜇头：里面放了小虾米，所以比较鲜味。有个不足是：有些芦笋不太新鲜，有点不好的味道。 脆皮咸猪手：皮脆肉嫩！ 总的来说性价比挺高的。
Came here for an excellent Chinese style banquet dinner, highlights for me were the whole winter melon soup and garlic (harbor bay style) stir fried crab. Chicken was flavorful and tender, the marinated deli platter was delicious and aromatic. Just a simple family dinner style place where you can do family gathering dinners or special occasion banquets.
Fried fish 5/5 - my family's favorite dish here and we get it every time. It's very crispy on the outside and the inside is tender and breaks apart. Chiu Chou chicken 5/5 - also love this dish. It's a bit oily but paired with rice it's really good. The spice flavor pairs well with the chicken. And chicken is cut thinly so it's tender and easy to eat.
Great place for large parties to enjoy family style Chinese food around revolving tables. It's your typical Chinese restaurant. We went this afternoon (a Saturday) and it was pretty empty. Shortly after we arrived, the restaurant started filling up. If you order the lunch specials, you get a great deals. We ordered a mix of those and regular weekend priced dishes. I appreciated that they had lunch special deals despite it being a weekend. The Diced Steak French Style was our favorite. It was very tender! Overall, the dishes are on the saltier and saucier side, but I guess that's why they give you a giant pot of white rice. Portion wise, we ordered 8 dishes and that filled all 8 of us adults up with no leftovers. Note: Since we had a party of 8, tip was already included in our bill. So don't double tip, unless you want to of course. Also Note: most of the photos taken were after folks dug in! The portions were definitely larger.
This restaurant is here for at least 30 years. Food is always great, and not overly salty. Crab is expensive, but definitely worth trying out. Parking can get full during busy hours.
This place is so yummy! We ordered the grouper, soy sauce soaked tofu, and beef pulled noodles. The space was big and well lit, the service was great, and the experience was very enjoyable. Yay Monterrey Park for good Chinese roots and people!
Date of visit: 09/08/2024 Not my first visit at this location. Still sad they decided to close their Rowland Heights branch. Craving for BI FUNG TANG CRAB and this place literally has the best of it! Hidden gem. Lunch prices are awesome starting at only $11.99. On the day we went the food was very tasty and generous. From the outside it's a hole in the wall, but inside is pretty spacious for larger families to dine. My husband's aunt reserved a few tables for her birthday, so we sat in the corner area. The tea is not fragrant like other restaurants, but it'll do. I like that they give you disposable plastic cups for water too. Soup and rice was complimentary. Thought it was herbal soup, but it was some kind of seaweed soup. I was hungry, so everything tasted good, except for the fried fish (a bit dry). Parking sucks, so you'll have to park across the street. read more
They didn't have a lot of stuff here that we wanted to eat. We came on a Thursday night and we wanted to try a bunch of stuff on the menu and we were able to order a lot too because we had 7 people at our table. However, most of the items on the menu were not available.. strange. My aunts friend wanted to take us here specifically for the fried garlic crab. However, personally, I was not a fan because it's just too much work to break down the crab just for a little bit of meat. My favorite that night was probably the fried tofu. They definitely did that very well. We also got a lot of other dishes like the clay pot rice, chicken, clams, seafood crispy noodles, and other foods I can't remember. Overall, just okay for me. Came for dinner with family for a casual dine-in. The staff is friendly and you can totally speak to them in ToiSan/Canto if you wish to feel like you're right at home. Food is typical of these restaurants - some dishes like the SALTED FISH WITH EGGPLANT is delicious but oily, and other dishes can be overly salty and overly oily. Their SOUPS are absolutely delicious and steal the show but there's always too much stuff and not enough liquid. It's got a good variety of dishes to choose from and prices are pretty much on par for the area. At the end of the meal you'll get a warm blend of sweet taro dessert (not the the red bean thankfully). Parking is shared lot so during busy hours you might just have to park on the street. read more
We been here for few times and foods are good, recently, not sure if they changed Chef or new owner or maybe adjusted recipes, the taste kinda light, however, their fry rice taste good. Their signature fry crab quite tastes lighter than before. The rest still pretty good. We came around 11:25am still have many parking, but 10-15 minutes more, no more parking. I only come here for one dish, the house special crab! It's deep fried in egg yolk and loaded with fried garlic. What is there to not like? It can be a little pricey, however. They also have a pretty extensive menu if crab is not your thing. Service is spectacular! They change your plates frequently, especially if you have a lot of bones/shells on your plate. Wet nappies are provided when dealing with shellfish. It is a typical Chinese restaurant where it can get loud if it's busy. read more

I haven't been back to this restaurant for over 10 years. We got a table right away which is awesome since we are super hungry after the movie. Friendly staff and very helpful. The chicken was ok, not the best. Everything else was ok. For it's price, it is not too bad. If you are looking for something fast and easy to eat, this would be a great choice. It's not for someone that has high expectations. I give it a 3 star since it's food is good for it's price. read more

Had a great experience here on a Saturday night. No wait to get a table, maybe because it was raining earlier. Service was so good, prompt, and professional. Easy to raise your hand and make eye contact to get someone to help. Requests for plate change, wet naps, water, packing up, helping clean up a spill, and get the check were all dealt with nicely. 18% tip was included on the bill for parties of 6 or more, and the waiter was clear and friendly in mentioning it to prevent me from over-tipping. House special crab was $70. Very tasty as everyone already knows. Salt and pepper squid was light and crispy with a nice chew of the squid. Steak cubes with satay sauce was generously portioned with many large chunks of beef, but maybe the chunks were too big. The texture nor the satay sauce were a hit at our table. Soy sauce duck with tofu was pretty good, especially when using the vinegar dip as it should be. The duck was well seasoned, was meaty, and not fat. Fried seabass with garlic sauce was ok. Frying seabass didn't seem to match the texture of the fish IMO. Better steamed or baked as more typically seen. Chinese broccoli with dried fish was fragrant with nice wok hei. Can't make it like this at home! Had to park across the street as the lot was full even though it was a relatively quiet night. They were right around full capacity. read more

Haven't been here in a long while and kinda forgot about it. But my parents wanted to go specifically for some garlic crab. And it did not disappoint! One of the better Cantonese style Chinese restaurants in the SGV! I would absolutely come more often now. Whoever cooked on 8/15 dinner time, chefs kiss. Garlic crab was delicious. Although crab is so tedious to eat like this, it was really good. Beef filet cubes were super flavorful and so tender. Not chewy at all like other Chinese restaurants make it. The lobster was my favorite. Black pepper seasoning was not too overpowering and the basil added such a nice aroma. Green beans were amazing. Perfect amount of wok char flavor and spice. Salt and pepper squid was fried perfectly, not chewy or tough at all. Clams were tasty but for this one you gotta enjoy bittermelon. If you don't, stick with the clams and black bean sauce. Fried tofu was good, soy sauce with it just needed some chili. Beef chow fun was delicious, you can taste the wok char, noodles were perfect texture, we said no bean sprouts so they kindly added Chinese broccoli for us. The fried rice was good but lacking on something. I would definitely try a different fried rice next time. Service - keeping in mind it's a Chinese restaurant, they were still sooooo nice! Attentive with tea and switching plates. Food came out quick. They brought napkins and checked on us. We enjoyed our dining experience. Parking - free small lot in this little plaza. Didn't have an issue with parking at all. I'm sure if they got busy, parking might be a smidge difficult. But we had no issues with 3 cars. read more

Returned hoping for another great experience and the food did not disappoint! I would recommend their Fish w/ black bean sauce and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Amazing food, reasonably priced. There was an extremely loud, large group there, who definitely drank more than they could handle. My group could barely hear each other even though we were several tables away. The staff did nothing about this sadly. Thankfully it only lasted about 45 minutes. Most of all, looks like they had a mini-remodel. I loved their new painting deco! It's most likely featuring a new modern art style that gives the viewer the ability to change the primary focus of the art. For example, it may appear that some paintings are out of position, but once you tilt your head, it's actually the surrounding paintings that are off instead. Jk, it's actually unacceptable. As a yelp elite and honorary regular who is still giving 5-star, I demand that this be corrected ASAP! If you saw it, you would know what I'm talking about. Someone, please help us all out and bring this to their attention! For your sake, I sincerely hope that they get this straightened out by the time you arrive. You're welcome. read more

Visit med this place after a few years and was glad they still have lunch specials during weekdays. The food came quite fast. There was free soup and bowls of white rice too. But the cooking was a notch above most restaurants including NBC takeout. I really loved the salt and pepper pork chops, so tender and delicious. Will definitely return. Best House special crab! All the little bits of fried garlic are so tasty on rice. Despite all the chili, it isn't spicy. And it isn't dried out, and there is plenty of crab meat! 10/10 My family loves coming here but this is my first review. They have plenty of large tables for 10. Great service, extensive menu with pictures as well as pictures on the wall. The staff gives everyone water, makes sure tea is refilled and frequently comes by to change out your plate for a clean one. They also give you those packages hand wipes. And they take credit cards! House special chicken is tasty. It is served room temp and with the ginger scallion sauce- which also great in rice! 10/10 Spareribs with bitter melon in broth. Bitter melon was quite bitter. Not much meat or spareribs. Not my thing. 4/10 Braised pork belly- so soft and flavorful. 8/10 Lettuce wraps- couldn't really taste a distinct taste. Iceberg lettuce was crisp and fresh. The meat mixture had a great texture but not much taste despite adding hoisin sauce on the wrap. 5/10 read more

We ordered four dishes, and all of them were great--except for the crab. It lacked flavor, possibly because the shell wasn't cracked before cooking. Cracking the shell beforehand would have allowed the seasoning to penetrate better. read more
I went here to try their signature house special live crab (salt, pepper, crispy garlic), along with other dishes like chiu chow special porridge, soy sauce duck with tofu (whole), and house special chicken lettuce wrap. It was not too busy when we went around 5pm, though it was busy but with some empty seats still around prime dinner time around 6:30pm when we left. Typical of Chinese restaurants here, we got served tea, and we also requested some ice water on top. The crab is pretty good, meeting my high expectations. I love their crispy garlic that they put in, and the meat is quite fresh and sweet. However, the meat can be a bit tricky to take out in some parts. Currently it's around $25 per pound so it was $76 for the crab. The chiu chow special porridge is also very good - it is soup with rice, but the rice to water ratio is lower than that found in a typical porridge. Additionally, the dish also has some oysters, shrimp, etc which makes the price tag more worthwhile compared to the standard fried rice dish they offer. Soy sauce duck with tofu is marinated well. I love how they do not have much bone, so for the majority of the pieces, you can just eat it without much effort. Also, there is not too much fat under the skin. The tofu is very soft and flavorful as well. House special chicken lettuce wrap is decent. I like the crunchiness to it, and there is a good amount of vegetables. The slight downside, but fortunately they did make aware of that for us, is that the menu price is not accurate, and that the dish is $4 more. Service is very good especially for a Chinese restaurant, as they actively clear your dishes periodically as the crab shells accumulate, and they fulfill requests fairly quickly when you flag them down. I was visiting from Chicago and I was disappointed at the service here. I felt like we were treated like 2nd class citizens because we weren't ordering in Chinese or weren't Chinese. As for the taste I didn't enjoy the flavors and that could just be that I'm used to Cantonese style Chinese food we always get in Chicago. We ordered a noodle dish that I told the server how I specifically wanted and she gave us chow mein soft yellow eggs noodles when I said wide flat rice noodles. Clearly there was a miscommunication and they did try to remake it but we got so full we told them to just pack it to go. We spent over $350 and they added gratuity automatically. Parking can be rough but sometimes you might find a spot right in front like we did today! Or there is plenty of street parking. They take credit card. Plenty of tables and no reservations are taken. Service can be a little hard to get their attention but the waiter who helped us was really friendly. You will have to order rice separately but the tea is free and has a good roasty taste. We ordered the infamous shredded taro and chives (SO delicious) and the amazing beef dish (forgot the name but it's one of their house specials). There were other dishes as well but these two are my favorite! Both pretty expensive at $22 or $25 per a dish. But it is tasty and my parents love this place!! read more
