They must have changed ownership because the food quality went down. The menu options changed and was surprised they had dim sum all day and night so I ordered a few. Har Gao: these smelled corny, if you're Cantonese you will understand what I mean. It tasted like they were spoiled. 1 out of 5 The shrimp and chive dumplings: these tasted legit. Good flavor, there was a bounce in the shell which is nice, IMO - little on the thicker side but 4 out of 5 stars for this dish. Tripe and beef stomach: Both awful. No flavor. It's a meal I continue to return to, even if I've had the same dish multiple times. Let me tell you about it. Firstly, the advice I'd give you is try to come here before 11:30 AM. Once that time hits the line will start forming and this small restaurant will unfortunately have you wait while you smell all the delicious food this place has to offer. I, for one, hate waiting, especially when I know how delicious the meal will be so I try to arrive before the morning/afternoon rush begins. When you arrive you have to try the Hong Kong breakfast combo. It comes with eggs, hash brown, toast, and your choice of protein. Though the chicken steak is a classic and popular choice, I go for the pork chop. They are two perfectly fried pork chops coming with a crispy panko exterior that is light with almost no oily residue or flavor. The crunch of the panko is a symphonic melody accompanying the savory flavors with each bite. Pair it with a jammy, buttery toast and you have a perfect combo of sweet and savory. Their dim sum selection isn't extensive but comes with all the classics like shumai, har gow, char siu buns, pineapple buns, and rice noodles with beef. All of them come fresh and somehow taste even better when accompanied with their unlimited milk tea or iced lemon tea. Simple cuisine elevated and executed masterfully. This is the original Delicious Food Corner that I know of, and I remember there always being a line. I haven't been back in a long time since this location is a bit farther from me, but after seeing someone post about the $8.99 beef chow fun, I had to come check it out. They had actually remodeled this location and everything is all nice and new. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted, but I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they offer an afternoon tea menu. I'll have to come back to try it sometime, but my main reason for visiting was the beef chow fun. It's also available on the afternoon tea menu, but it's about $4 more to include a drink, which I decided to skip this time. Here is my verdict on the been chow fun: the portion size was solid, and I noticed they used both red and yellow onions in the dish. I do wish there were more bean sprouts, but they were generous with the beef, which I appreciated. Flavor-wise, it was quite good as well. Overall, I would come back if I happen to be in the area. Otherwise, the pricing is comparable to other Hong Kong-style cafés, so I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way just for this location. read more

There's a new menu now, and I think the owners may have changed because although the signage still says Delicious Food Corner, the menu says Tasty Spot Cafe. Their new breakfast special includes congee, a dim sum item, a side, and a drink. I do like that there are now more options for the breakfast sides. Unfortunately, the congee tastes different now. This used to be my favorite spot for pork and black egg congee, but my last order was watery and bland instead of thick and flavorful like before. I did enjoy the pork siumai and shrimp spring roll from the dim sum selection. I also tried the pineapple bun, but I expected it to be softer and more moist. The portion was also pretty small. I like that most of their drinks can be ordered unsweetened, but they only offer Sweet'N Low instead of Stevia or Splenda. I also recently tried the kung pao chicken and didn't enjoy it. The sauce didn't taste like traditional kung pao sauce, and the dish had very few vegetables and mostly onions. The butter adds a savory flavor to the bread. The Minced Beef & Egg on Rice is one of their most popular dishes. It's well seasoned and I like how the egg comes out runny. Make sure to mix it up before eating! They also give you the option to order this dish non-spicy or spicy. Honorable mention: Their Macau Style Pork Chop Sandwich, Soy Sauce Chow Mein, & their Rice Macaroni! The pork chop is very crispy and comes sandwiched between buttered baguettes. It does come out in a large portion, so it can be hard to eat. I recommend cutting it into smaller pieces. The rice macaroni has such a unique texture, and I love how it comes in soup. The beef chow fun here is too oily for our taste. We've been here 2 weeks in a row. The drinks that comes with the meal are all terrific. The tea and coffee are refillable I believe. I am repeat visitor, always ordering any of the noodles in broth. I switch it up between the wonton egg noodles and braised beef stew with wide rice noodles. I once had their clear broth beef stew and it was surprisngly good! The clear soup made it so light and delicious. I always make sure to order a iced lemon tea or iced coffee milk tea (yin yeung). The salt and pepper fried tofu also looked a little different but the tofu was crispy (ask for extra salt and pepper on the side). i thought their curry with beef was alright, the pieces of meat were huge and so were the potatoes. Not that I'm complaining about the amount of meat, it was a lot and I liked that but I wish it had more curry and looked a bit more appetizing. Our server was also different, I've never seen him before but he was very friendly and had a smile on when taking our order and dropping off our food. We went on a Thursday night around 6? I wish I could say that everything here is delicious but it's not. I ordered a variety of things like the pineapple bun with butter, Singapore vermicelli, beef curry, cod fillet with black bean sauce, chive and shrimp dumpling, and beancurd skin roll in "superior broth". The Singapore vermicelli was my favorite thing there, pretty flavorful with a variety of toppings. The beef curry (there is two kinds, beef stew curry and beef curry) is an absolute miss. The beef is the same beef in like beef chow fun and it just has a mushy consistency. The cod fillet with black bean sauce was the second best thing there. The spare rib in black bean sauce clay pot is just really over priced and didn't taste good. Didn't really touch it and it smelled odd. Both of the Dimsum dishes I ordered had issues, the chive and shrimp dumpling had undercooked shrimp. The beancurd skin wrapped with "superior broth" was really dry, lacked flavor, and there was no superior broth. If anything there was a little bit of water. The inside of the place is pretty decent and it's not run down. Service is a bit slow, takes a long time to get food and getting a water refill takes awhile. Getting a servers attention was challenging. Parking for this place could get horrendous. It's only a few spots and the entrance to this place could easily be missed. Overall, it's an okay place. FREERICE is the code for on line order or just show e-mail for in-store. Nowhere did it indicate only certain locations. The monterey parklocation claimed manager did not notify them of this offer - but i showed them the email and they refused to honor it. Wasted time - if you know Monterey Park there's a ton of traffic on garfield in the late afternoon and it was in traffic for 20 mins trying to get there. I think management changed after they reopened in April because the staff was a completely new team, which was really saddening because I liked the old team a lot. At first glance, the staff seems friendly but there was a time when I asked for a to-go cup and as the waiter turned, he rolled his eyes and seemed annoyed. As for the food, the quality is different. I used to like their breakfast a lot, especially the Bo lo bao, but when I ordered it once, it came rock hard and dry - couldn't really bite into it or rip into it. It was as if it wasn't fresh and was retoasted on separate days. They have this point/reward system where you punch in your number and accumulate points, but either the workers there don't really know how to operate it or the device is faulty or not easy to use because there have been times where I'd punch in my number but no points were added. The waiter said I should get a text message when I receive points, which sometimes I didn't, but they assured me that the points were added, which it didn't.
