This is actually smaller than I expected. We came for Sunday dinner and it was less than half full, we were a party of 8 and got a pretty small table with a lazy Susan. Plenty of parking in the back and front of the restaurant, there's gendered restrooms near the back which were pretty clean. Our group ordered a lot and so fitting everything on the lazy Susan was a challenge: -fried pork chops were delicious, so little bone and crispy outer coating. I didn't feel like it was greasy or dry, great spicy salt flavor. -fried crab was super delicious, meaty, salty, and crunchy outer fried coating. The price was pretty fair and the dish had two crabs after counting the legs but one head shell. The crab inners were pretty good, crispy but a bit fishy. -the pork belly dish was great, tender and fat melted in my mouth. The flavor is slightly on the sweeter side and the sauce was savory. -honey walnut shrimp was crispy, sweet and savory, and the walnuts were crispy. However after a while it did get soggy but still sweet. -the fried whole sole fish was unfortunately fishy, the one we got had eggs as well so unsure if that played a factor but my dad confirmed the fishy aftertaste despite this place has a tank full of fresh seafood! -black bean fish filet was okay, Fish was soft but I ended up with the fish pieces with ginger stuck to it, so the fish itself was overwhelming with I tense ginger flavor. Which I don't like. Everything else was pretty good, can't recall the rest but next time we think we will order different dishes since it's very close to my family's residence and apparently my grandma ate here all the time decades ago. It did take a while to get the staffs' attention for drinks and our plates were full of shells, but they eventually got to us.

The food was good. My favorite was the walnut shrimp and the fried pork chops. The dessert afterwards was really good too. However the service was lacking. We had to ask for drinks 4 times. We asked for a plate change and they only did it for two people out of 7. I asked again and was forgotten.

Seafood Palace, Bi Feng Tang in Chinese, is an established restaurant chain that originated in China and is known for specialty seafood dishes. It's a Cantonese seafood restaurant with Chiu Chow/Southeast Asian influences. Nice and clean traditional Chinese restaurant atmosphere with some dishes shown in big colorful photos surrounding the dining room on the walls. This is one of our family's gathering spots in SGV. Food was authentic and traditional. Servers were efficient and attentive to our needs. This place has many unique dishes that's hard to be found elsewhere. Dishes were flavorful and well prepared. A must order dish every time we're here is their signature house special crab with a lot of fried minced garlic. It's fresh and sweet with just the right amount of flavor. The choices for dining in SGV seem endless and we have always enjoyed Seafood Palace where you can get a great taste of Cantonese/Chiu Chow cuisine.

If I have to describe this Chiu Chow family style seafood restaurant in one word, then that word would be uninspiring. The original flagship restaurant is located in Monterey Park and this Temple City location is a sister restaurant. Renowned LA Times food critic Jonathan Gold wrote an article about Seafood Palace in Monterey Park and gave his approval on the house-special crab in 2015 (https://www.latimes.com/food/jonathan-gold/la-fo-gold-seafood-palace-20151128-story.html). [Parking]: Easy and free parking behind the restaurant. [Ordering]: The restaurant was only less than 25% packed on Saturday at 5:30 PM. Our party was able to grab a table immediately and the food came out 5 - 10 minutes after placing an order. [Menu]: Per Jonathan Gold's article, recommendations include house-special fried crab (#42), sauteed scallops with asparagus (#69), Chinese lettuce Chiu Chow style (#45), fried snow fish with garlic sauce (#27), house-special steamed chicken (#28), salted-fish-and-chicken fried rice (#122), and baked squid (#68). The restaurant offers lunch special on Monday to Sunday from 11 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday to Friday lunch special order also comes with one free soup and one free white rice per person & dine-in only). All lunch specials are not available on all holidays. $2 per person on rice. *** #10 Minced Chicken w/ Sweet Corn Soup ($15.99): A pretty boring soup and I wouldn't recommend it. #28 House Special Chicken ($15.99 for half chicken): Slightly better than average and the dipping ginger sauce was not bad, but it didn't taste super amazing. #42 House Special Crab (seasonal price - $69.99): The signature dish really fell flat and I didn't really see the appeal at all. #56 Honey Walnut Creamy Shrimp ($22.99): The dish was recommended via Yelp highlights and it was certainly the best dish of the night. Excellent flavors and one can easily get hook on these creamy shrimps. #?? Salt and Pepper Pork Chop ($16.99): Pork chop pieces were fried nicely, but it lacked salt and pepper so I couldn't really taste any extra kicks. *** Maybe our party should've done a little bit more research ahead of time and go for few other items that are outside of our comfort zone. However most dishes our party ordered tasted just alright.

House Special Crab. Fried with a ton of garlic, bring a few people to help you. That's really all I want to say, House Special Crab - just do it. Other dishes I enjoyed were Pea Shoots and Bean Curb with Mushrooms. But don't sleep on the crab!

We ordered from the second lunch special. Our table was very presentable and our server took our order quickly and efficiently. The decor of the restaurant was very stylish. It was Chinese with soft Chinese music. We ordered: Salt and Pepper Baked Shrimp, Mapo Tofu, Fish Filet with vegetable, Free Lotus Soup, Tea, and one bowl each Rice.

My family loves eating here because of 2 dishes: house garlic fried crab and the house fried rice! Everything else is delicious too! Go here! You won't regret it!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years, and although the prices have risen, the quality has stayed the same. It is usually very busy inside but the servers do a great job at seating you quickly. If you come with a larger group of people, then the wait times can get pretty long around dinner time. However, you could always order the food to-go, which is what I typically do. The inside of the restaurant is very welcoming and spacious. It is structured like a typical Chinese restaurant, with a lot of indoor seating and larger tables available for bigger parties. It has also been recently remodeled, and looks much better than it did a few years ago. The house special garlic crab is my favorite dish to get. I typically order around 2 pounds of it with my family, and it's just the right amount for three people. It's extremely flavorful and is fried to perfection. It tastes great on its own, but can also be eaten with rice to make it more filling. The crab is also very easy to peel and sometimes I don't even need to use tools when eating it. Another one of my go-to dishes would be the pan-fried string beans. They're a bit salty by themselves, but are great with rice. It also comes in a large enough serving to share with the whole family. Overall, I really enjoy the food and service here. I will most likely continue coming here, despite the prices going up. This is a great traditional Chinese restaurant to try, especially if you enjoy seafood like I do.

Horrible Food + Terrible Service. I'm surprised that they haven't go bankrupt. A fried Rice with literally nothing cost me 19 dollars and taste so greasy. Avoid this restaurant!

Chiu Chow style seafood restaurant. This is an old favorite of my family. We like to get the Chiu Chow Seafood Porridge. And also your assorted standard staples of these chinese seafood restaurants. They do a solid job on those. Most recent time I went was Oct 2023, and they seem to have remodeled, and the prices have gone up quite a bit. Price on the live seafood was pretty steep. That knocked it down a star for me. They do have lunch specials, so maybe try it out during lunch.

My family used to come here a lot when it was the old Seafood Palace. Have't been back since they changed the new ownership until yesterday. We decided to celebrate Mid Autumn Festival here. It's always the same vibes, big family gatherings or just have a casual sunday night dinner. You will see a lot kids at every table, so do expect a lot of loud noise and screaminng everywhere. They also have private rooms available but mininum spend is $800+. We have 8 people in our party and we ordered quite a few items on the menu. We ordered seafood, meat, vegetables and always gotta have soup on the side. Here are some of the signature dishes we ordered. House Special Fried Crabs (避風塘蟹)- Whole Crispy Deep Fried Crabs with lot of seasoning and fried garlic. It is one of their signature dish, you can also tell by the name of the restaurant (in cantonese). One of my favorite and the reason I choose to come eat here. The crabs deep fried so well and full of flavors. with salt and pepper, the deep fried garlic added more aroma to it. Winter Melon Pot (冬瓜湯)- This soup is very uniques and comes in a actual wintermelon! You must pre order this 1 day ahead because it has take long hours to make. it comes with black chicken (乌鸡), logan, goji, dried scallop and other healthy chinese herbs, of course the wintermelon. The flavor of the soup tastes very sweet and savory because of the wintermelon and they do not add additional oil to the soup. It comes in a actual wintermelon, you can scrape the winter melon off which scooping out the soup. very delicious and healthy. The other dishes we ordered, where i thought that needs a little improvement. honey walnut shrimps- Texture is okay, but they out way too much mayo where you can barely tastes the flavor of the shrimp and the crispiness. the walnuts are also stale. house speical steam chicken with ginger sauce- Wish there are more flavors of the chicken, it tasted like it was just boiled in water. The ginger sauce combined made it taste slightly better. but the chicken itself should have it's original house special flavor. Baked salt and pepper Squid- Well deep fried but not enough salt and pepper. I did not taste the salt and pepper at all and there were badely any jalapenos. Overall, service is good just like any other typical chinese restaurant. I would still come back and give the restaurant another try.

A traditional Chinese seafood restaurant at its best! If you're looking for a delicious seafood restaurant with reasonable prices, this is the place to go! They have two nice private dining rooms with contemporary artwork that you can reserve. Perfect for graduation dinners and other celebrations. I recommend the shrimp and scallops.

Couldn't find the spot at first in the plaza but it is located near a McDonald's. Looked big from outside but was a decent size inside with a good amount of tables and seating space. Service was really fast, got seated quick and they were fast to take our orders which was crazy at first but they were on it with service so I appreciated that. Even the food came out pretty fast. Saw that the Beef Noodle Soup was good so I had to try it, the beef broth was delicious and I love bok choy so they had me at bok choy! Beef was nicely cooked too, I liked it! Dan Dan noodles were okay and it felt like it was spicy peanut butter but still good, just not my favorite. But the pork dumplings (xiao long bao) was YUMMY. It really hit the spot when we grabbed one each and the warmth and taste was delicious. Definitely my favorite! Pork and crab dumplings were good too! This time, we ordered the Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and the Beef with Chinese Broccoli. The Shrimp with Cashew Nuts was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the Beef with Chinese Broccoli was extremely salty. After just one bite, I honestly couldn't eat any more of it. I have always liked this restaurant and have been coming here frequently over the years. I've enjoyed their lobster several times with my family, and almost every dish I've tried here has been delicious. That's why I was especially disappointed with the Beef with Chinese Broccoli this time, as it was far too salty. Despite that, I still think this is a great place for lunch. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced, the service is always good, and the portions of rice are very generous. One thing I especially appreciate is the complimentary orange slices they serve to every customer after the meal. The oranges are always fresh and sweet, making a nice ending to lunch. One other thing I noticed during this visit was that the restroom now has a new premium hand soap. I don't remember seeing it before, and it was a nice little upgrade that added a touch of luxury hand soap to the overall experience. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. Hopefully, the kitchen can be a little more careful with the seasoning next time .

Located at 518 W Las Tunas Dr, Tan Cang Newport Seafood has firmly established itself as a top dining destination in San Gabriel, renowned for its exquisite blend of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Thai-inspired seafood dishes that consistently exceed expectations. During my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of savoring the Clams with Black Bean Sauce, a dish that expertly combines the delicate sweetness of fresh clams with the savory richness of black bean sauce. The perfect balance of flavors and the masterful Chinese-style cooking techniques shone through in every delectable bite, leaving me craving more of its harmonious blend of earthy and salty notes. Another standout dish was the Kung Pao Chicken, which stood out as a personal favorite. Unlike other versions that tend to be overly saucy, Tan Cang's rendition featured tender chicken pieces, roasted peanuts, and just the right amount of chili for a nuanced blend of spice, sweetness, and umami. The House Fried Rice also left a lasting impression, with each grain perfectly seasoned and generously filled with shrimp, BBQ pork, and vegetables. The flavorful rice served as an ideal accompaniment to the other dishes, impressing with its balance and non-greasy texture. The Catfish Soup was a delightful interlude, boasting a delicate and aromatic broth filled with tender fish chunks, vegetables, and an array of herbs and spices. Its fresh, light flavors provided a refreshing contrast before the grand finale. And finally, the renowned Lobster with Black Bean Sauce and Noodles, the crown jewel of the menu, did not disappoint. The perfectly cooked lobster, enhanced by the savory black bean sauce, combined flawlessly with the noodles, creating a divine texture that truly showcased the culinary mastery of the restaurant. The restaurant's traditional interior decor further elevated the dining experience, exuding warmth and charm with its wooden accents, intricate designs, and soft lighting, adding to the overall ambiance. After three decades of patronage, I can confidently attest that Tan Cang Newport Seafood consistently delivers an unparalleled dining experience. It's not just a restaurant; it's a celebration of culinary tradition, flavor, and impeccable service. It deserves a resounding five-star rating, every time.

The night was quite busy and lots of people making it super loud. Service was slow, we had to Ariadne our hands quite a few times and sometimes had to get up to find someone to pack our food to go.
