Dessert #2

Okay, the food was so good I forgot to take pictures, but we did get photos of the dessert! We sat at the bar for our first time here and the bartender, Josh, made our experience memorable and delicious. He crafted cocktails based on what we like, and we will definitely be back.

I learned something about Scottsdale. if you're going out on a summer night to Old Scottsdale...you don't need a reservation because you will be the only one out!! lol Apparently a lot of the restaurants there shut down for part of the summer. Sel was going to temporarily closing the next week, so my timing was just right. Otherwise I would have missed one of the best meals I've ever had. Sel is a Michelin quality New American restaurant with three options of pre-fix menus - land, sea, vegetarian. When I arrived for my reservation there was a guy at the bar. Yeah and he and the employees were it for the night! It had a chilll vibe (I.e. European chill-out music in the background). One of the songs I heard playing was Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) by Mr. Probz. The service was excellent and the head chef Brandon (previously from Monarch) even came over and chatted about the food and his vision. I had - Mi Aventura (drink) - Pork belly Bao - New York strip 12oz - STRAWBERRY-MARZIPAN SHORTCAKE The flavor on the Bao was amazing and it was done so well. The NY strip was prepared a great cut prepared just as it should be and the pink peppercorn sauce complimented it perfectly. I'm not a big strawberry shortcake fan, but their unique version of it had won some awards so I had to try it. It was worth the hype. If I'm ever back in Scottsdale I'll be back!!

Such friendly service with a smile! Josh the bartender was lovely, personable and funny. Josh made me a tart mocktail with bubbles. Great start! Perfect service! I ordered the happy hour beet salad first. It was a smidge oily and sweet for my taste but I fixed that by adding salt, pepper and lime juice. It was generously portioned which I appreciated. Loved the pomegranate seeds and pistachios I should have dipped into the goat cheese sooner. So good! I moved on to the diver scallop dish. Of my goodness the flavor profile with the truffle was spectacular. I savored every element of this dish! The fois gras cream, the caviar, the blood orange...the everything! Utter perfection for a foodie!! And the strawberry shortcake was the perfect way to end the evening! No wonder it's award winning. The hint of caramel and salt are delectable!

We came for a lovely dinner on Saturday evening at 5:15p. It was decently quiet when we arrived and began to pick up in pace around 6:30p. I believe the restaurant went through a makeover of sorts and it's absolutely beautiful and makes for a wonderful ambiance. The food was delicious! Recommended to order a 3 or so apps and/or small plates and then one entree to share between two people. We ordered two small plates, split an entree and then had room for dessert to feel comfortable. We ordered the lamb dumplings to start, followed by the jumbo crab and finished with the tiramisu. All dishes were delicious, perfectly balanced in flavor and richness.

Such a cute date night spot. The food was great and our waiter was the best! Gosh I with I remembered his name. He had a Spanish accent and was so fun and helpful. I would definitely recommend Sel. The drinks were fantastic. The mixologist personally came to our table and curated a drink for me based on what I liked. They were so good! We started with the Korean short rib bao buns. They were delicious. We shared the filet mignon and it was honestly one of the best steaks we've had in a while. We will definitely go back.

Was going to art walk with some friends from out of town and decided to stop in here because it's so beautiful from the outside with the purple lighting. Very elegant atmosphere. It was happy hour and we were able to get a table on the patio. The service was good and the waiter gave a very good wine recommendation. The truffle fries were very good. I had the waygu beef sliders and they were delicious... my friend from Minnesota had the fish and chips and it was an elevated version with some spice that she loved. The deserts were absolutely phenomenal and even though we were full we finished them. I would go again.

I have dined here multiple times and have been impressed by the experience Every. Single. Time! Everything from the sexy atmosphere to the uniquely crafted cocktails just oozes decadence! This chef owned restaurant is definitely worth checking out!! The service is wonderful, and the food is delicious! Their a'la carte menu is thoughtful, unique, and flavor forward! They have everything from tempura black prawns to Korean short rib steam buns, cavier, foie gras, steak, octopus, and everything in between!! You can even try one of their three 5 course tasting menu's And dessert is just as good! Their award winning strawberry marzipan shortcake dessert takes butter cake to a whole other level! It's sinfully sweet, silky, crunchy, and fluffy!! Texture heaven! You cannot go wrong to come have dinner here! The only downside to having dinner here, is you will miss out on their juicy and melt in your mouth wagyu sliders from their happy hour menu!

Celebrated my birthday here and we loved it! Very intimate and romantic. Also, great for an anniversary dinner. Very fresh and beautiful on the inside. The chef greeted us and had his family there which was nice to see. We loved everything the beef rib bao buns, the duck, and the filet mignon. Drinks were smooth and dessert was delicious. Good service and lovely dinner. Recommend making a reservation in advance.

What a hidden gem!! I brought one of my teams at work to this spot for dinner, and here's a breakdown of how I'd rate all the things... Food: 5++ stars. $$$$ is the right rating on price for sure too... but quality is way up there, flavors are epic, and presentation is impressive. Hot tip: If you are coming in hungry, I'd suggest ordering a starter and/or a small plate first. Portions aren't huge for the larger plates, but still a good amount if you aren't starving. I had the braised lamb ravioli, which was delicious, but it came with 4 large ravioli (I think) and I could have eaten at least 2 more :) We also ordered the shrimp tempura starter which came with 2 total pieces.. so make sure to order a few extras if you're hungry. Also, expect some pricey drinks too. My glass of pinot noir was $28, but it did not dissappoint. Service: 5-stars for sure. Our server was really friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. Thank you to all the staff for asking about dietary restrictions ahead of time as well. Vibe: 5++ stars. While this is a white tablecloth spot, there was some fun music going in the background which kept the energy high, and not stuffy for a corporate dinner. I feel old saying this, but I wouldn't have minded the volume a tad quieter, but we could still hear each other if we spoke up. HOT TIP: When I booked our reservation, they charged a $250 deposit on my card, which was taken off the final bill. I was a little surprised by this since it was more than 48 hrs before the reservation, but luckily we didn't need any changes on it. When you have a larger group, maybe ask them what to expect when it comes to this process. Otherwise, really had an amazing experience and highly recommend giving this spot a try!!

Came in for a small group work dinner and had a wonderful experience! The atmosphere was modern, cozy and inviting, with a clean aesthetic and candlelight. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable yet unobtrusive. Service was unrushed yet well paced and attentive. The food was excellent- everyone enjoyed their meal. Among our group we had the roasted pear salad with crab and scallops, the octopus, caccio & peppe, salmon, and mushroom risotto. All earned rave reviews. We shared several desserts, the tiramisu, the bread pudding and the marzipan which was the standout. Highly recommend Sel for a small group it romantic dinner. I would gladly return next time in in the area.

Loved our little dinner on the patio tonight! We were attending Thursday night Artwalk and walked over to Sel with their cozy patio and relaxing music. Delicious dishes from their happy hour menu, the roasted beet salad with Diver scallops -- wow, layered flavors of thinly sliced beets, glazed nuts, goat cheese dressing and pomegranate seeds, and my husband has black cod fish ( with a subtle miso flavor) and chips (shoestring fried with a spicy aoili). Service was responsive and friendly by Moses, who gave a detailed savory description of our dishes when they arrived, which we more + more often find missing from casual but quality restaurants. Really pleased, and will definitely return and spread the word-- thanks Sel!

Dining al fresco done right--perfect evening vibes

Everything about my experience at Sel was a 10/10. The ambiance, the food, the plating, and the overall dining experience were all absolutely flawless. Josh at the bar was fantastic, and Bella and Moses took such great care of me with service that was warm, attentive, and perfectly timed. Their recommendations were spot on and the new rosé from France was the perfect choice for a warm night. The chef's dishes were not only delicious but beautifully presented. Every plate felt thoughtful and elevated. I can't believe I've lived nearby for years and hadn't been here sooner. Sel has quickly become a favorite, and I'll be recommending it to everyone I know.

Sel Wow, just Wow! Very impressive good thing I didn't have socks on because they would've been blown right off. Ambience was brilliant and I love all the plants. This is a special place for a special event although it wasn't my birthday or anniversary. It was just wonderful for my husband to take me on date night. We did the five plate dinner and it was opulent. They taste and presentations were outstanding. Katelin, the hostess and Josh our wonderful and experience mixologist, the owners are Brandon and May, are delightful? Our waiters were Joel and Lucino who did a fabulous job. Everyone there felt like family. Our experience was a bit pricey, it was worth every dollar. $100 plus a person. I WOULD RECOMMEND

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Service was excellent and the patio was well-lit and had heaters ready for colder weather. Vecina is on the pricier side for sure, but you will not be disappointed.

Saudero tacos (a brisket confit suadero tacos with a chile jam, aguacate, serrano cruda, toasted sesame, fresnos and micro cilantro) We sat on the patio for a wonderful AZ spring evening. The service was great. I also enjoyed their extensive tequila and mezcal menu. The only downside is the parking -- it's pretty small and shared with Lou Malnati's next door!
