Oh, sweet, sweet Sellas, how I miss you. Graduation from WSU was six years ago, yet I still fantasize about Sellas and the delicious, cheesy-goodness of the Coug Calzone...pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, and mass quanitities of cheese. Picture me now as Homer Simpson, drooling over doughnuts. Oooh, doughnuts. Wait, wrong review. Oh, and the salads. Just a green salad with croutons and shredded cheese, but it too is delish. And the bread twists. I seriously contemplate buying mass quantities of the calzones and breadtwists every time I go to Pullman, just so I can bring them back to Portland and freeze them to get me through the long, cold winter. Definitely a casual environment, but good service, good food, it's clean, and fun to go watch a ball game on the big screen. read more

Excellent pizza!

When I lived in Stephenson, this was a fun place to go if you felt like 'eating out' but didn't really want to drop the cash for something extravagant, or, didn't have a car, like me! An easy walk (barring the ice on the street, at times!) from campus made this location an appealing meeting spot as well. One of my most treasured memories was visiting here with my Paraprofessional Staff. After we ordered our magnificant and gigantic (we're talking leftovers for a few days!), we passed the time, crayon-ing out our masterpieces on our placemats. Love the calzone! I got the Coug calzone. It was delicious! Cooked just right with plenty of fillings. Usually there is a line when football games are going on but it's worth the wait! The first time I went to Sella's I got the best calzone I've ever had, but unfortunately since then I've developed an inability to digest dairy due to chemo...so cheese was off the list this time. I ordered the kids' spaghetti with meat sauce but no cheese (I can't eat much), and an employee came to ask if the no cheese was due to a food allergy. I said yes, and she said there was dairy in the meatballs, so did I still want them? Not only did they change the meatball order, but they made sure to keep butter away from the breadstick without me even asking. It's hard to eat out these days, especially at a pizza joint, so I consider this a huge win. Thanks, Sella's. I'll be back the next time I visit my daughter in Pullman. read more

The calzones pretty good. Consistency is the biggest issue I've had. I've had great calzones with good flavor. Then, of course, the first time I took my wife there, our calzones were really dry. Now she wonders why I like the place :). Soda in a Mason jar is the ONLY way to do it! The place needs updating, but they figured out a way to have people pretty forgiving about the aesthetics, and that's to PURPOSEFULLY give it a run-down feel. read more

Holy crap is it good!! This may be one of the best calzones I've had since I left NY 30 years ago and I've looked. Was in town for the day and took a chance. Really good. The Italian dressing on the salad was yummy too. They make it with a balsamic vinegar. Many years ago I lived in Pullman and at least once a week I would eat a Sella's calzone. I still believe they are the best I have had! The environment was always very fun and creative. I don't remember the service as being all that great but being able to draw on placemats hoping for your 'art' to get on the wall and viewing others creative works always helped the wait time. read more

My wife, daughter, and I dined here on July 13--at least, my wife and daughter dined. My food never came. We all ordered at the same time, but only two meals were delivered to our table. After a few more minutes, I inquired about my sandwich. This process took an inordinate amount of time, after which I was told I had not placed an order. I insisted that the person running the register just had not listened well. At that point, I decided not to press the matter, since I had not been charged for the sandwich. A few minutes later, just as we were leaving, I at least got an apology. Stella's hires a lot of college students and does not train them well. I won't be back. Very well made pizza. Not like any other pizza place in Pullman. It is made from fresh ingredients, creamy cheese and has a flavorful sauce. The crust is nice and crunchy and absorbs all the flavors from the toppings. My favorite is the Piesan pizza with a combination of meat and veggies. It is delicious! They top the pizza with some shaved parmesan to add a little extra touch to the already amazing pizza. They also have calzones that are always packed with lots of cheese and taste just as great as the pizzas. What I love about this place is the drawings that fill up all the wall space all around the restaurant. You are given a white disposable place mat when you sit down and a jar of crayons. You are free to draw whatever you would like, just for fun or to enter it into it being placed onto the wall for display. It ranges from little kids drawings to professional drawings. They also have great deals on beers as well as a porch to sit out on in the gorgeous Pullman sun. The pizza is a little pricey compared to the other fast food pizza places in Pullman but that is only because 1. it is worth it 2. they take the time to make the pizza there with fresh ingredients and 3. the pieces are so packed with goodies that one pizza can easily serve as 3 meals. read more

If your looking for subpar calzones and pizza this is the place to go. Calzones are ultra watery and really don't have much flavor. The cheese pizza for the kids has so much cheese that it was difficult to eat without almost choking. Beer selection is very minimal as well. Go find something better. Not worth the price. read more

This place is ALL HYPE. Don't bother coming. I went there once and I thought it was decent so when my whole family wanted me to order some for them I bought 5 (they are big). EVERY single one was still raw. As in the dough was still white, gooey, stretchy dough on the bottom! I was appalled because I ended up with raw dough in my mouth. Checked them all and threw them all away. At $25 (overpriced) a calzone that's $125 down the drain. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant, especially one that's rated so high. Later on in the year, a friend of mine convinced me to give the place one more try and, get this, it happens again! The same exact thing. UGH. The only reason why this place is rated so high is because it's a popular hang out amoungst the cougs but the quality is shit. Sella's has always been a great place to visit for having amazing pizza and has decent vegetarian accommodations to their menu items. The place is wonderful for children who would probably take great joy in being able to draw pictures with chunky crayons. As a 20something year old woman, I know that I did to with friends I have come to this restaurant with. I don't really recommend their pastas...it is definitely not their niche. Sella's has a piece of my cougar heart. The calzones are amazing, It'll be hard to find much better after i graduate. They are cheesy, and huge, and amazing. Very hard to finish one in one sitting. I always take home leftovers. The salads are pretty darn good as well. Other than the food, you have to stop in just to see the decoration. The walls are covered in colored placemats! The upside is that the calzones are huge... big enough to share, but the pepperoni one I tried was super oily and the amount of cheese was borderline revolting... over an inch thick at it's thickest. I will give it another try because it was still good! Mine just needed to be more proportionate and other ingredients than cheese and bread. Service was also lacking. If you find yourself hungry in Pullman, this is the place to go. It's not a fany place, you can go in your yoga pants and take your loud-mouthed friends or kids and not get any dirty looks. Sella's is a great place to go by yourself or with friends. As it's right down the hill from wsu, both staff and clientele are mostly students, which makes for a friendly environment. The food is good (only had their calzones) and service is always attentive. They serve a few local beers, too. They have enough ingredients to provide variety, or to fine tune your calzone. Poor Trisha must have paid with monopoly money, because I've never paid over $10 for any calzone. I make sure to hit Sella's every time I'm in town. It's a great alternative to the chains. read more

I really really love cheese but I actually found myself wanting to remove about half of the cheese from my calzone. Not because I didn't like the cheese, but because it was really hard to taste anything else because there was so much of it. I didn't find the cheese to be watery as some other reviewers mentioned. Oily/greasy yes, but that is the nature of cheese. I am looking forward to trying Sella's again but I think the next time I go I will ask them to go easy on the cheese and add extra sauce. The atmosphere is definitely small, college town hangout. It's probably a pretty fun place to hang out with a group on a game night. read more

I've lived here for about 20 years, and until yesterday, only had the Sorority Girl Combo (Salad and Breadsticks). Their OK, but nothing spectacular. BUT, yesterday, I had a pizza! Bravo! In those 20 years, I've settled for the cheap paper thin tomato bread from the downtown joints, but no more! The Sella's pizza is the best in town! And not much more in price, and robust! Worth it!
