They are only open for take-out currently and they take orders via phone or in person. If you order on the phone, they take your credit card then and you have to the receipt sign in-store. Note that they aren't open on the weekends. They have some pretty good deals on lunch specials that include miso soup, salad, and rice plus your choice of two ($11.95) or three ($13.95) items. They have almost every single combination of items, for example, chicken/beef/salmon teriyaki (on top of other protein mains) with either california roll/sashimi/tempura so there's something to satisfy even the pickiest eater. The chicken katsu was very crispy and perfect with the katsu sauce provided since it cut through the grease from being deep fried. The tempura had an interesting mix of vegetables (a single green bean, broccoli, taro, and some others) and one big shrimp. The sashimi that came with the bento were three thick slices of tuna. The other bento we had came with big california roll pieces. This was definitely enough food for a comfortable lunch meal but of course we wanted to sample the special rolls they had. The Warriors rolls main distinguishing feature was the mango. There is spicy sauce on it but I didn't notice it, maybe because of the sweetness from the fruit. The Jasmine Bomb roll has mozzarella cheese on it! I've never seen that on another menu. I'm surprisingly a fan of dairy and fish so it worked for me. This one was actually a bit spicy. The last roll we ordered was the Wonder Woman. This one drew me in since it has macadamia nuts in it but I didn't notice them in the roll. Overall everything was pretty tasty. Omg ! So fricken good ! Me and my coworker decided on trying Sendo Sushi and I'm so happy we did. We made our Oder mainly by the pictures oof food and menu pics on Yelp. My friend is a Sushi Foodie person. Me not so much. We could order from the menu both being happy. I order the Bento Box ! Chicken Teriyaki, Tampura (shrimp, veggys,) White Rice, Salad. This had everything I wanted. The Chicken Teriyaki was tasty , The Tampura and dip was Amazing ! I really enjoyed my lunch choices. Then I had the Pot Stickers dipping in the soy sauce. This was order as a side. They give you so many 6 Stickers. Next on the list was the California Rolls this is as far as I go doing sushi I'm such a non players but maybe one day. My friend had the Monkey Brain (crazy name right) and she had the other item of my pictures. While eating we totally talked about how dam good this place is !! We got a little bit of everything. Decent Korean-style sushi place! Worth every penny of the price and tips. I've never seen sushi or don place with this much thick sashimis on. I had Sake (salmon) wasabi don and it was pretty good and very fulfilling. My friend had Nigiri mix which was even greater than my Sake don. Agedashi tofu was little bit too big thus I don't feel that tofus are absorbing enough sauce. Starting salad is simple but very fresh and works up appetite. Servers are very attentive, nice and fast. This is a cute little sushi shop. Waitresses are very friendly, attentive, and sweet. We came here to try out Eat Viet but we were disappointed by their service so we went here instead. Beef udon was great. It has some tofu, braised beef, fish cakes, and the noodles were nice and chewy. It came in a huge bowl. The bento boxes were large as well. Lots of options and variety you can choose from with your source of protein. I wanted the most bang for my buck so I went with the teriyaki salmon, California rolls, and vegetable tempura. I think this place is decent for your quick sushi fix. The place inside is really small so it can get busy as lunchtime. We usually order our orders to go and enjoy our meals in prison, I mean, at our desks back at work. The rolls are decent here and the prices are pretty average. When I get cravings for sushi, Sendo is my immediate go-to. The specialty rolls are ALL delicious and there's a wide variety of combinations on the menu. Their spicy-garlic edamame is a MUST (provided you like spicy and don't mind the bad breath afterwards ) The thing that really puts this place over the top for me, is the service. 2.5 with an extra half a star for it being close to my house. Sushi rice a little too sweet and not enough vinegar. Spicy tuna was super spicy! Nori in the hand roll a little soggy. Nigiri were huge, and that's not a compliment, they're too big to eat and have a lot of rice as well as fish. *Soooo* not edomae. The fish itself wasn't bad though. The yellowtail especially was a good, firm cut. The salmon was buttery but not very flavorful (at least it wasn't fishy). The tuna was the least good of the fish we tried but also not fishy. About on par overall with Michi, which is kind of sad since I judge Michi on a softer scale with other late-night eats like Denny's. Nabeyaki udon was okay but the udon were overcooked (mushy) and the broth was simultaneously sweet and over-msg'd* (not once of those alarmists who think msg causes all those health problems but I don't like when it's so heavy-handed that my tongue goes numb). Tempura was not bad but I've had better. Disappointed they didn't come with tempura sauce because it's kind of dry without it and I didn't want to dip it into the msg-fest soup. Chicken and onsen egg were good. They charged $2 for tea when I didn't even get offered a refill. They have a weird pricing scheme where it's a dollar more at dinner time even if you don't want the "dinner set" (Japanglish for the sides that make it a meal: rice, miso soup, and salad, or just salad in the case of the noodle soups), so not what I'm used to at Japanese restaurants. At my restaurant it was the difference between a la carte and dinner set. I understand it isn't fast food, but imagine going to McDonald's and paying for a #1 meal when you only want the burger, just because it's 7pm. And then why offer the yellowtail sashimi appetizer instead if you don't have a yellowtail sashimi appetizer, only a tuna-salmon-yellowtail sashimi appetizer that only has 5 pieces in it so is possible that I could end up with only one piece of yellowtail, and you're not willing to let me substitute all yellowtail? The place has air conditioning but it's really weak. Even though it wasn't a hot day I was sweating over my steaming iron pot of stew. Language barrier was also a difficulty. I'd break out my broken Japanese but I feel that would only compound the errors. Finally, they close at 9 when we work pretty late so their hours are not that useful. Maybe some of the issues we encountered wouldn't have happened if we had come earlier, but I'm not sure most of the problems were related to the kitchen being about to close. This place has done nothing but consistently disappoint me. The only reason I would come here so often was for convenience--but after my most recent experience, I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes to another restaurant or even go to Yo-Yo sushi (which I don't even like). Yes, this place is small and there is a limited number of seating, but I don't understand why they are so particular about who gets to sit where or reserving booths or larger tables for larger parties that may or may not come. A few months ago, there were a few parties of 2 waiting for a table and 1 vacant booth. The servers refused to seat any of the present and waiting parties bc "a party of 5 might come soon". Irritating! At that point, I was on the verge of venting about my experience on Yelp--but I decided to hold off bc one of the servers sensed the frustration with everyone and apologized. Yesterday was probably the final straw. My mom and I came here BEFORE the lunchtime madness at around 11:20pm. The restaurant was pretty vacant and there were tons of seating available. With that said, the lady sat us in a small and cramped table towards the entrance. However, my mom recently broke her leg and is temporarily handicap. We asked if we could sit in the back booth (fits 3 people) so we would not be in the way and she has more room for her leg. The lady (who is the owner), sighed and agreed (probably bc we were already about to seat ourselves there), gave us a bad look and started to mutter to the other server. I found that to be completely rude. Is it really that much of a hassle to accommodate to a handicap person? Again, in one of the few eatery plazas near work, we went later to avoid the limited parking space and rush. Pretty small inside, and I recognized one of the waitresses that used to work at a sushi joint in Sunnyvale, so that was a plus, as she has always been good to me. I decided to order something standard, a bento with chicken teriyaki and california rolls. Our food came out shortly, and we had rice and salad along with it. However, the teriyaki sauce was just too much and too sweet. Bleh. The chicken was just okay, had some fatty pieces. The CA roll was just okay too, the avocado did not seem very fresh. Had a GREAT lunch at Sendo Sushi. Was in town as my wife was working in San Jose and I needed some sushi. I yelped sushi and went to the nearest place without even researching it. And OMG- did I score. This place was in a strip of small restaurants. It is very tiny. The decor is simple. One wall has some cool pictures. Another is covered in pictures of people that have dined there previously. The front is glass looking out to the parking lot and the back is the actual sushi bar with the kitchen behind that. It also came with the biggest california roll I have ever seen. Pieces that were so big, I almost couldn't fit them in my mouth! (almost...) Then there was a huge portion of Teryaki chicken. and a big ball of sticky rice. There was also a big orange piece for dessert. Not knowing how big this bento box would be, I also ordered a couple pieces of sushi salmon. So how was it? Well, let me tell you- it was fantastic! The salad was fresh and cold and the dressing was very tasty. The chicken had a slightly crispy outside, but was SOOOO tender and juicy on the inside. The Teryaki sauce was absolutely delicious. The California roll was so fresh, from the avacado to the crab. Most sushi restaurants' Calirfornia rolls are all rice with very little of anything else. This chef did NOT skimp on the good stuff. Even the orange was delicious- it was so ripe and juicy. And it's December!! How did they do that?? The sushi was equally remarkable. Huge piece of very fresh salmon with sweet, perfectly cooked sushi rice. And the service was great. There were lots of servers and they were so friendly. I didn't want to leave! I've come here on numerous occasions and was ultimately disappointed today. My coworker and I came here instead of Sen Dai to skip the long lines. We were seated right away and sat at the sushi bar. I ordered the sashimi platter and my friend got the sushi/nigiri platter. I was served Tuna, salmon, and possibly hamachi. All 3 fish were mushy and I forced myself to eat 6 of the 12 pieces. Since I didn't want to get sick, I let it go to waste. My friend said his fish was off too. The platters were on the pricey side compared to Sen Dai. On the upside, the edamame was good! We decided to check this place out since it's close to home and we wanted something quick. When we arrived at 8pm, there was one other table there eating. The waitresses knew these customers and were talking to them for quite a bit. I always think it's nice when a restaurant has a good rapport with customers, but it's a bit much when they neglect the other customers! We ordered the following: Edamame- served warm with salt. Nothing special here, but overpriced for the amount they give you. Gyoza- the meat tasted strange to me. Spicy Chicken / Tempura bento- spicy chicken meat tasted strange, not fresh. Tempura was above average. Saba Shioyaki / Sashimi bento- Saba was cooked pretty well, but the portions were small for the price. Sashimi was fresh, but came with 4 tiny pieces. The salad dressing was pretty good. Even after the other table left, the waitresses were just talking to each other and didn't pay attention to us unless we flagged them down. I give this place 2.5 - 3 stars. They had a pretty extensive sushi roll menu, so I *might* come back if I'm craving sushi and don't have much time to go somewhere farther. The only downside, was that it was a bit too salty. The meal also came with a small plate of kimchi and salad. The plaza that Sendo Sushi is located in is always packed during lunch, so you have to come early to find a spot. Otherwise, Sendo Sushi is a great spot to come to for lunch. Sendo Sushi delivers a great all around Japanese meal for a modest price. Normally when I eat Japanese food I am all about the sushi and the other food items are an afterthought. Sendo is the one of the only places where I have gotten Japanese food items, other than sushi, and actually stood out. In fact I dont get the sushi at Sendo I go specifically for their Japanese food items. I usually get the 3 item combo, which varies coming with your standard Japanese proteins with two additional sides. The portions are great and fill me up and I am a pretty big eater. Normally I go with teriyaki chicken with california roll and tempura (MAX FOOD QUANTITY CHOICE). All the food tastes great and you wont be disappointed. I have seen some of the rolls as well and they look tasty as well. Here is where Sendo falls very short. If you show up at 12:00pm on a weekday good luck on getting a seat to eat. This place isn't open on weekends and caters to the working corporate crowd and gets extremely busy around lunch time. Try getting there at 11:30am and get an early lunch. Or take a late lunch and skip the lunch hour period. Another word of advice is be prepared to face a parking situation behemoth like never before.
