Overly priced for what they gave . When you ask for a asada burrito you expect a asada burrito not a rice and bean burrito with a couple pieces of beef. Extremely stingy with their meat, that seems to all be boiled .Shrimp overly cooked. Their salsa was good but they are stingy with that as well . When you pay over 50 dollars for food you expect at least enough salsa for your meals and ask for a little more but no that's a charge as well. The least you can do is heat up the tortillas .You have to repeat yourself constantly to the cashier not her fault just not properly trained. You can tell no love was put in these dishes. This review is solely for the fish tacos and Mexican rice! Now, after living in San Diego for 3 years, I realized that I have been spoiled by the variety of mexican food places there. So I've been on a hunt for a good fish taco place after I moved back home. All of the efforts seems to be a bust until I found this place, Senor Baja. Although it's kind of hidden, it is worth seeking out!! We ordered the fish tacos and a side of Mexican Rice. The tacos comes with two tortillas so you know what that means... it's going to be messy!! The battered fish isn't skimped out on, it's a huge piece of fish (although I'm not quite sure if the batter was more than the fish, it was too yummy so I scarf it down :x ) !! And the toppings are topped until it's just the right amount of over-filled-ness! I only gave it 4 stars because the Mexican rice was so-so. Not the best and not the worst, still yummy though. Also, the staff there are nice which is a plus! DING DING!! TIPS!! You know tacos aren't complete without the grilled chilies... Well, at Señor Baja you can get them FOR FREE (probably the best two words in this world)!! Second tip, the special deal fish tacos ARE NOT on the Tuesdays. I came in here when I was working the streets of Covina. It was a Tuesday so I thought they would have fish taco Tuesday, but instead they had a potato taco for 99 cents. I never had a potato taco and it was very tasty. It's basically mashed potatoes inside of a hard taco shell. I went back on a Wednesday and they had 99 fish tacos so I got 2 fish tacos and 1 potato taco and I was satisfied. There are other items on the menu that I'd like to try. It's small inside. I'm happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised with Senor Baja. The fish and shrimp tacos were done in a traditional style with battered fish, pico de gallo, cabbage, and crema in two corn tortillas. The batter was crisp, the fish and shrimp very fresh and of great quality, and the overall taste was superb. A fish taco is $1.65 and the shrimp taco was $2.65. this is my favorite hole in the wall taco place in the valley. they have the most authentic fish taco I've had outside of the streets of Mexico. their grilled banana peppers are just amazing and so good ... really goes well with the fish tacos. they also serve good menudo during the weekend. its been awhile since I've had the menudo but i used to eat it every Saturday morning for a few years before i moved to Venice. if you are ever in Covina, this is a really good place if you are craving fish taco. I've been a big fan of Rubio's but recognize that it's not the best. I found this place one day while driving down Glendora. I tried their fish burritos, shrimp burritos, and tacos (fish/shrimp). Senor Baja is conveniently located between my job and my house, and I stop there every so often when my cravings for fish tacos get the better of me. I grew up eating fish tacos in Baja California but refusing to eat fish any other way when I was a kid. Now, I love fish and I LOVE the fish tacos at Senor Baja (they were good when it was Taco Nazo too). They cover the fish tacos with lots of cilantro, onion, cabbage, and "white sauce" which give them their excellent flavor. Senor Baja has a serve-yourself condiment bar with marinated carrots, jalapenos, and onions, as well as oil-soaked peppers, salsa, and a whole lot of other stuff, and you always see people filling bags and cups with the good stuff. I've never eaten anything else from Senor Baja but the fish tacos, but everything looks good and is served quick and with a smile. The same cashier is always there every time I go, and she's super friendly and helpful. They just instituted a special for every day, and I can't remember them all, but Tuesdays are free drink with any order days, and Wednesdays are 99-cent fish tacos. They have weekly specials and I am a huge fan of their fish taco Wednesday. Ive sampled some of their other tacos and burritos where were just mediocre but I really like their fish tacos. They are beer battered and served with sour cream, cabbage, and tomato. I think regular price is $1.99 but on special is $1.49. They have a self help sauce bar on the side towards the entrance of the store. They also give free peppers if you order three or more tacos. I enjoy those as well. Customer service is always nice. Some of the ladies do not speak English very well but understand the basics of their menu so ordering shouldn't be a problem. There is a younger girl that works there often I usually see whose always very nice and helpful. Location is in a small strip mall next to Dominos. Don't know if it's the beers talking, but they had some good comida. Had a big order, mostly shrimp and fish tacos, shrimp burritos, and a couple horchata.
