I had a wonderful meal here. I went at lunch and they have many specials for around $15. They served me a vegetable pancake appetizer that was so fluffy and delicious! Also provided were like 9 little saucers of different homeade pickles, like kimchi, cucumbers, some kind of savory shaved tofu, many delightful little pickles of different flavors. I ate them separately and sometimes with a bite of my food for extra crunch. I ordered a chap chae appetizer and a hot stone bowl lunch. It was all delicious, the portions were generous. I had several containers of leftover and ate tasty Korean food for dinner, breakfast and lunch again the next day. The waitresses were so helpful and attentive! My boyfriend had been here before and suggested we dine here tonight. I'm not the biggest fan of Korean food (Japanese and Thai are my Asian staples) but I went along with it. My boyfriend ordered the spicy squid, which he had eaten there twice before, and I chose the bibimbap. Mine came out initially with no meat (it was supposed to be beef) and with the egg, which I had asked to be left off. I had taken a few bites of the rice and asked the waitress when she came back if it was missing the beef. Turns out I had gotten someone else's vegetarian one...I don't know if that person was given the dish I had eaten a bit out of... When I did get my correct dish, I liked the crispy rice (cooked against the surface of the hot stone bowl), but the veggies and meat were quite bland, even when I tried to enliven them with a sriracha type chile sauce. My boyfriend enjoyed his squid (though I will admit that seeing tentacles on the table is a bit too much for me). This place is definitely no frills. When I asked for lemon in my water the waitress told me they don't have that. The restaurant also looks a bit shabby, but staff were super friendly (and energetic: waitresses were dashing back and forth from the kitchen). It was a bit weird that in the ladies' room (in the stall, no less) was a big advertising poster for bowling, lung cancer awareness...and an adult novelty store. Explain that one to your kids... Make a reservation and make some room in your belly for KBBQ. I'll say it again - If it is a weekend make a reservation if you want KBBQ or be prepared to wait. The KBBQ area is an understandably smaller portion of the restaurant. We came in for a late Saturday night dinner. We didn't make reservations so a bit of a wait and some sake bombs were in order. They did allow us to sit at a table in the main restaurant and, though busy, service was pretty prompt. They moved our drink bill to our destination table rather than having us close 2 checks which is always nice. Once some space opened up in the KBBQ area we moved in there and were presented with an opportunity to order. Since we had a bit of time to look over the menu already we were prepared. More sake bombs, and 3 tasty meats all on their way. They fired up the BBQ, gave us a new hot plate, and by the time they were done passing out the generous serving of sides our first order of meats arrived. A simple push of the tableside button brought quick service after our first round. More sides, 2 more meats, and a fresh grill plate came quickly after. The final round saw 2 more meats - we were offered more sides but were content to finish what we started. At this point they helped us cook a bit - probably because they were near to closing time - but I didn't feel rushed out. Everything we had was delicious and we really took a tour of their options with our 7 meat tour. It is certainly possible there could be some language barrier issues for first timers but if you know the score there isn't much for confusion here. Point on the menu, get meat, enjoy meat, enjoy the company of your friends. KBBQ is usually a good time and Seocho facilitated that wonderfully. read more

It was me and my boyfriend's first time getting Korean BBQ. It'll be my last time going to this place, though. Upon sitting down, we were asked if we would like anything to drink, and we said we'd like a minute to look at the menu. A few minutes later, some other person asks if we're ready to order. My boyfriend was a bit confused on how to order the all-you-can-eat, and while I was trying to tell him how it worked, the lady suggested 2 meats. But what we didn't know was that she was just going to bring them out. So here she is with 2 meats we neither ordered nor wanted, and we were pissed. My boyfriend is on the Keto diet, and this lady brought us the 2 sweetest meats on the menu; the bulgolgi and the short ribs. I don't care for those sugary marinated meats, either, but since she decided to order for us, we just had to eat it as they charge for wasted food. Guess it was an unexpected cheat day in his diet! (Which he hadn't intended on having one that night.) Mind you, it's $30 per person. You do not even get vegetables to cook on the grill, either. You can only choose mushrooms, but that counts as your 2 choice limit per order (the menu states you can order up to 3 items at a time). The menu should be updated. We ordered one more meat (pork belly, and this time, it was our choice). Halfway through eating it, the lady brings us a sauce that's supposed to go with it. Then when we were close to finishing it, we were asked again if we wanted any more meats. We said not yet, and the lady just stood there and stared at us. And didn't leave. So, being put on the spot we said no, and she brought us the check. We hadn't even been asked what we wanted for Step 3 in the AYCE process (which is choice of noodles or soup). I wasn't leaving without getting what was included in the AYCE, so we managed to order noodles and soup. The time it took to get them was beyond my understanding. We thought they forgot we ordered them. Oh, and I never got to put in an alcoholic beverage order. That person never came back to take our drink order. So water it was. The restaurant didn't deserve any more money from us, anyways. We definitely did not get our $71 worth by dining here. It was such an awful experience with strange service. We didn't get what we really wanted and we were just upset and taken aback by what happened. Who brings out food you didn't even actually order, then expect you to eat every bite? I had to spit out a few pieces since I couldn't finish to chew. The sauce was overly sweet and salty, probably to mask the quality of the food. The low quality grill becomes black quickly and hard to find the server to replace grill plate. Later I found out that people come here for all you can eat menu. I am not the person that sacrifices the quality for quantity, so not interested. There are many high quality Korean restaurants in Illinois. Food-wise the bbq is not so horrible. The side dishes are alright, the pancake is delicious, and the green onion salad is good. However, my party ate the all-you-can-eat kbbq and our total ended around $50 per person. For an all-you-can-eat I don't think the meal is worth it. Even with all-you-can-eat your choice between rice, soup, or cold noodles is slim. I believe there are better options out there if you are looking for a kbbq meal. If you're looking for thick pork belly or wanting to try a variety of meats I would look further. However, the service of the waiters was pleasurable, the food came out at a good time, and the marinated beef was good. I am saddened to be writing this review. I wanted to keep supporting them as the place seems to be a family owned business since there're always the same people working there every time I've been. But I will absolutely not be coming back after today's experience. First off is the food. It's not horrible but I do believe it could be a lot better. Our all you can eat menu didn't come with lettuce and when we ask for it the lady just shook her head while mumbling something at us indicating they didn't have lettuce and just walked right off. What sort of Korean BBQ that is not served with lettuce If you're in Chicago and craving Korean BBQ, go to Deabak restaurant in Chinatown (IMO this place serves the best tasting food besides great service)! Now the service is what made my last visit the absolute worst out of all of my restaurant experiences. They never came check on us. This place is so very understaffed and it's always been the same 2-3 ladies working here. (They do not ever have a hiring sign!?!) It was almost impossible to get someone if you need something. Water was never refilled, neither were the side dishes. Never came by to check if we wanted to order another round. Most importantly the ladies' attitudes were the absolute worst and it disappointed me so much!!! They seemed so rude and unkind. But this was me and my sister, literally 2 persons who got zero service whatsoever having to pay 18% tips. It's just WRONG. I am a good tipper but this time I felt ripped off. I am a business owner and during the dinner all I was thinking about was what our customers would feel if they were treated like this at my store. I take my staff out for dinner quite often. We've been here a few times as a group because it's close by and convenient. But I would never come back here again if things stay the same. However, as other people are stating, the service was awful and the food is not worth how much they are charging, and I can't recommend it. When my mom let a server know that the spring mix salad was too salty and she couldn't eat it, the server just laughed. They also had no lettuce (which is highly unexpected at a kbbq place). I highly do not recommend this place. It was our first time there and I went with 2 adults and 2 kids. They didn't provide us any menus and suggested buffet was the only option. So we got the buffet, we were charged $40 dollars per person and only got 3 meat selections. The bill was over $300 dollars with tip (we had a couple glasses of wine and an order of bibimbap as well). When I got home I looked online only to realize there was a full menu and had they provided us that we would've spent only $150. The service was subpar, there was no lettuce and when I asked to take our bibimbap and the remaining meat we had cooked but didn't eat they said they didn't provide boxes for leftovers, but they'd make an exception because we didn't order much. The only AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant that I know of in Naperville area. For $25.00 without tip and tax, the price is a little steep. I would only come here if you're starving and ready to stuff your face to get your money worth. I came here with a group of 4 guys, which means we kind of got our money worth. There's only 10 selections of meat, but if you try all of it, you'll be more than full. My favorite one was the marinated short ribs. I wish there was bone that came with the short ribs though. The next favorite was the brisket... it needs to be cut thiner so it's not so chewy. Service here is extremely 'slow'. Each plate of meat takes at least 5 minutes to come out cause there was only 1 lady serving the whole section of BBQ side. The side dishes also were refilled extremely slowly. I think this is part of their trick to not have you eat as much too. You know how it is, it takes times for your brain to register that you're full. We were the first party to sit in the KBBQ section and by the time we finished eating, there were a few other parties in the KBBQ section. It is big enough for large dinner parties (10-15 people). It is $28/person for AYCE (all you can eat) KBBQ. Service was great and gratuity is already included in your bill. They had lots of side dishes (banchan) and my faves were the pickled cucumber, bean sprouts, and spicy green veggies. Their kimchi wasn't the best I've had. They have lots of selection for meat, different flavored pork/beef/chicken. I was a bit sad they don't have rice paper like the other KBBQ joints in California. Instead of rice paper, they have lettuce to use as wraps, which is healthier but not as yummy. They also offer pancake and it was decent. Overall, I think it is comparable to California KBBQ joints but boy, was it expensive! With tax and tip, it came out to about $35/person. At that price in LA, you can get AYCE seafood and excellent quality meat... When you pay, they give you those yogurt drinks to wash your palette! Oh, and their tea is really good, too. The servers range from inattentive, nearly to the point of being nonexistent, to being outright disrespectful. I love the Seocho Garden! I've only gone for the Korean BBQ but it's always delicious. Usually, I'll go with family and we'll get the unlimited BBQ. Everything is delicious from the meats (my favorites: kalbi and bulgogi) to the sides (there's always one new side dish I haven't tried before and of course ample amount of kimchi). My favorite side is the pickled cucumber or is it the kimchi daikon or is it the bean sprouts? ;) There's so many to choose from. Don't get me talking about the Korean pancake, because I will start raving. I'm salivating now, just thinking about it. Otherwise, the Kalbi didn't have any taste to it, the pork belly bacon was tough, also without much taste, the chicken intestines were too chewy and the marinated sirloin just didn't hit the spot. The chicken fried rice was also surprisingly good. However, you wouldn't normally think to order fried rice with Korean barbeque. The service was just okay. They were attentive to getting us more meats. However, they initially took drink orders and forgot to get the people who ordered waters their drinks and they didn't take our empty plates until they were completely stacked up. The food here was really good, they had a nice selection of meats to choose from. We chose the all you can eat. My favorite was the kalbi. All the meat were marinated nicely in the sauce. The side dishes were also really, really good. There's two things I didn't like about dining here. 1, the service wasn't too great. They were kind of pushy on how we cooked our meat and kind of just dumped everything on the stove top to cook. After we would be done eating, we had to wait a bit for somebody to come back to ask if we wanted anymore meat. Also, there was a point where the fire went out on our stove top, so we weren't able to cook any meat and it took someone a really long time for them to finally check on us to relight the stove. 2, there's an 18% gratuity that's added onto the bill automatically.
