Always impeccable. It's been two years since my last review so I decided it was time for an update. This is my go-to Sephora location and, although they are generally very busy, I always feel cared for. I get my makeup done for something every couple of months and the artists are always great. I've also been to several of their Sunday morning classes and increased my skills with their expert coaching. Sephora, I love you, but I'm not a fan of this location. PARKING: First of all, it's a free for all in Old Town. Parking/traffic is pretty much terrible at all times on the weekends. During the weekdays, it's manageable, but no one has time on a Tuesday evening to shop at Sephora. SERVICE: This is probably the one determining factor for the 2 star review. I've never been approached here and asked if I needed assistance. The whole concept of a one stop shop for skincare and makeup is to UPSELL the customer to buy more product. Que the Beauty Insider/VIB/VIB Rouge now. Customer service here is seriously lacking. Even the people at the registers are not that nice and kind of judgey. I think I've only had ONE decent experience here at the register, and that was with a male team member who was super nice! I'd rather order online than come in this store. This Sephora is so cute! As soon as I arrived two workers assisted me quickly. Lenise was soo concerned about me finding the correct products for myself. Lenise asked a variety of questions regarding my skin, and she was super accurate when it came to finding my shade! I was super happy considering I had been returning the same makeup product multiple times during the month due to an incorrect shade match. I came in on Halloween to get my makeup done. MUA Liz Rodriguez did my makeup. I presented a Halloween concept and she was able to do it better than I wanted! First she matched my skin type, I usually go to the Sephora in Brea Mall, I get my makeup there often but they had never used the scanner to match me, they just asked which foundations I use. One thing that I like that Liz did was compliment me about the smokey eye she did on me. And said I should do it often! I was earlier for my appt and was able to get it started sooner. My appointment was from about 10:45AM to Noon. Even though she had never done a spider web eye design, she said she was glad I was her appt and able to experiment with me! She did great! Check out was easy and fast, had to spend $50 for the appt since I'm VIB. My one stop shop till I drop store!! I get all my make up and skin care here. What I love most of the store is the people and how helpful they are. They are all very experienced and give great advice on anything you need to know as long as you have skin and hair!!! Lol.. You can ask them for recommendations, pick the right colors to better match your skin complexions, ask for some samples to take home, ask for technique on how to properly apply, or even ask them to test the products on your face!!! And if all fails and disappoints in the end, you can always come back and return if you are unsatisfied!! Pls note that even the samples they give you to try comes with a small receipt pampers that tells you about the product and how to properly apply. You can sign up the the VIBr rewards meme ship club and you can collect points from your purchases or get a free make up for your birthday. They will always send you mailers and discounts via online. This place is like heaven to me!! I end up buying so much more than I should. I am very fortunate that my bf is willing to wait for and also give me his opinions on what he likes and dislikes!!! Multitasking is not a thing at this store. I came here on a Thursday around 3pm. Never have I experienced discomfort from lack of service at a Sephora store. They take their time to make you wait for help. I asked at least 3 associates and either was told I'd be helped in a few or they would ask another associate to help me. Not only that but I came in for a foundation recommendation and the manager who was "assisting" couldn't take time to assist or point any out because she had to greet customers. This Sephora is so much more spacious and better than its old location in Paseo of Pasadena. I've recognized a hand full of their employees and my first impression of them at the Paseo location was that they were so snooty and they never helped me. Maybe during the time they were closed they learned how to be nice because coming into this location, they were a lot friendlier and they weren't pushy in sales. My only complaint about this store is that when I actually need help, I can't find anybody to help me! Sephora is pretty much the only place I get makeup and sometimes, perfume. Mostly makeup, though. The makeup artists there know their stuff and they're not trying to sell me some useless shit because they want the money. They actually want you as a repeat customer. I do have one complaint, though. I was convinced to buy a makeup sponge that was a bit pricey $12 instead of the regular $4 one and honestly, that was a waste of money. If you go to old town Pasadena ask for LALA, I promise you will not be disappointed. I knew I wanted to try new items and while other employees walked past me, LALA came my way and offered me the best service in the world. LALA took the time to answer my questions and grab products for me. I usually spend over $250 each time and struggle to find help until the employee realizes how much I'm willing to spend. With that said, I didn't get pushed into buying products I didn't want to try or buy. When I go shopping for make up i usually go directly to what i need, load up and then browse around. I have been to this location a hand full of times maybe like 4 times or so and I have only been attended to twice. The first time I was provided with assistance the young lady was short and abrasive. They were busy that day so I could understand her distress. This last time, Sunday around 7ish pm, I was looking for a perfume. I would say at least 3 of the employees saw me but did not ask if I needed any assistance. It was a busy evening again so I just took it upon myself to look for what i needed. We asked for assistance and the young dude helped me out. He actually came through at the end, ringing me up separately away from the long line. So that was cool. I know this place is ideal for a lot of shoplifting, and that the service industry is a tough one, but I do wish they could keep up with having samples of the colors of makeup items in the little labeled trays in front of each makeup line and type. That way I know what's what as I try to find what I'm looking for--a color that works for me. Also, it would be terrific if staff could be assigned on some sort of rotation to keep the makeup application tools and makeup remover items stocked at each testing station. I figure they know they sell product whether or not the areas are messy, so it's not part of their mission statement. It shows. I'm glad the return policy allows return of gently used product. They do try to have lighted mirrors about so one can see how a color looks on the face, but I still wasn't able to find the right blush color. The roaming staff aren't always useful with recommendations. I've got a blush I bought that doesn't work with my skin tone that the staffer thought looked fine on me. Manager Erica cancelled my beauty studio appointment by email 10 minutes before it was due to start! I had already paid for parking when I got the message! No apology or compensation for my wasted time (1 hour round trip for nothing). At least 4 or 5 employees standing around the empty store but none of them could help. They would not tell me if the makeup artist who did not show up (and who had given me a facial three days earlier) was sick. She did not wear a mask and now I'm terrified that I've been exposed to COVID or something else. Totally unacceptable! Also I have an event tonight and no makeup. I've been to this Sephora on a few occasions, and the quality of the customer service has ranged from being nonexistent, to bizarrely passive aggressive at the check-out, to excellent. Five star customer service and a shout-out for Selina D., who helped me about a week ago! I needed some tattoo cover-up supplies (but Sephora doesn't carry Dermablend yet, a go-to product for tattoo-coverup in the professional makeup world). However, Selina provided excellent, attentive customer service, so I came away with a couple of alternatives. She was patient and great in her communication, walking this makeup newbie through how to layer products to cover my tattoos. We used (1) a Smashbox color correcting stick to hide the black ink, and (2) instantly grabbing my exact skin tone in the Kat Von D Lock It foundation. When I applied these methods myself, they worked pretty well -- needed to go back to buy a setting spray, though, since foundation and powder will rub off on your clothes. Parking: The DeLacey parking structure (45 S Delacey St.) is closest, though usually full on weekends. Second best bet is the Schoolhouse parking structure (33 E Green St.) for a short walk over. I usually find these types of stores a bit intimidating with the black monotone attires and rows of beauty products decked out. However, it was a fun pleasant shop stop for an update for lip color and new stuff. Porsche approached me, asking if she can help pick a thing or two and although I declined she offered a free skin care express mask massage. It was sooo worth it and the products she used were quality stuff . In 15 min or so my skin was amazing soft and glowing! Porsche was not pushy and yet knowledgeable and comfortable to talk to and let her touch my face. Sephora make up is the best thing I can ever get introduce to. I now but a red quid lipstick from there that my sister and I love so much. It's from hour glass . We love the naked eye shades they have for eye shadows I've recently tried the make up remover and love how it takes off all the make up without irritating your skin . Went to this Sephora yesterday to grab a few quick things and Mely (spelling?) made my experience so much better! She helped me match my color across different foundations and gave me samples for those I'm interested in. She also was generally sweet and helpful and was very patient in answering all my questions. Pros: It's in Old Town so there are a lot of stores surrounding it. Cons: It's in Old Town so you'd have to walk to get to it from the parking. Parking: There are a couple of garages around Old Town with 90 minutes of free parking. I parked at the one in DeLacey but I think there's also one in Fair Oaks. It is bigger than it looks but quite crowded. The staff kind of leave you alone. Which is fine. It was organized in a way where it was quite confusing and it was hard to find certain brands. The lady who rung me up took her time helping me regardless of how crowded the store was. I really appreciated that especially since that was my only interaction with the staff. I usually like to go to the Sephora in Victoria gardens but since I was spending the day in Pasadena and needed a few things I decided why not. It was really packed in the store which made it a little difficult to find what I needed. The entire time I was in there not a single employee greeted me or asked me if I needed help. Luckily I'm a make up artist and can tell you your better off they always match me with some crazy color. The store was really well organised so after pushing thru the crowd I was able to easily get what I needed. I made my way to the register and the line was really long but it did move very quickly so I give them credit for that. I had an exchange and when it was my turn at the register I let the girl know. She didn't ask me how I was or if I found everything ok-nothing. I thought that was really rude. If I'm buying a $60 bottle of foundation I would like the person ringing it up to at least smile at me and make me feel better about that $60. I walked into this Sephora on a Thursday evening around 7:30pm. Dressed in my work clothes and a face full of make up. Which would've been a good clue that I planned on buying makeup. The store was busy but not weekend busy. 4-5 employees walked past me but no one asked if I needed help. They weren't busy with other customers either. Finally, one employee made eye contact so I asked her to help me find what I was looking for. She I went to pay, the cashier asked for my Sephora member number. I gave it to her, but she didn't ask me if I wanted to use my points to purchase any of the products in the case. Even after she clearly saw me looking at them. She bagged my stuff and handed it to. My last visit was a one-star event; they only get 2 stars because they still carry brands that aren't available elsewhere (hello Bite!) They carry all my favorite beauty products and if they don't have one particular item in store they will order the item online for you and it ships to your home within 3 business days. They seem to always be short of beauty consultants for the amount of people they serve. Downside to this particular store is parking ... While the store and customer service is fine, I do not suggest getting a Sephora credit card. First, I never received my statement nor credit card because my address was inputted incorrectly. Then, Comenity Capital Bank that issues their Visa card has been less than helpful. I've called 5 times now to get my card reissued and now to simply cancel, and they still have not been able to complete these simple banking transactions. I am beyond frustrated.
