Customer service was great. I walked in with my sampler certificate on perfumes tht I got for Christmas. A woman who worked there was actually so nice that she went through each of the samples with me. I didnt know I was being indecisive. She was a trooper.....I finally got the DKNY perfume. Funny thing is that she was already wearing that perfume for herself personally. It was crowded when I was in there, but when it was time for me to go in line, somehow I was the only one there. I encourage anyone to become a Sephora Beauty Insider-it is FREE and you receive neat promotional items, advanced launches of new items, a birthday gift, but more than that, you get wonderful, friendly, professional service. I have never felt that I was pressured into purchases when I am assisted by staff. I frequent both the Sephora store in the mall as well as the JC Penney Sephora shops at Sunrise and Galleria Malls, as there are bonus gifts as well from them. Both stores are helpful and give terrific customer service without any pressure. The latest gifts included samples of the Benefit Creme Gel Brow Color (which I purchased as I got a chance to try it !) and a TEN day sample of Alienist Power Play moisturizer. A big tip-all you have to do is ask and you will be given samples which are pretty generous, you will have enough for a few days to try the product. Do not be intimidated, give Sephora shops a try, you will be a return customer!! read more

Update...Sephora totally rectified the situation. They contacted me and all is well! 5 stars! I got a highlighter as a gift that came in the wrong color. I went to exchange it and instead listening to me about the exchange, she just went ahead and put the gift back on the credit card is purchased out. So now I need to have a very awkward conversation with the person who gave me the gift or not have the product at all. When we asked to speak with the manager, we were also, not listen to. Before I can even tell her what happened she said that it was her policy just to put it back on the credit card it was purchased with. She didn't even listen that we needed it to be exchanged. And then she acted like I was rude when I told her she was not listening to me. Needless to say, I won't be shopping at this Sephora. I'm also going to be returning $150 in product I purchased recently. I hope that they take a good look at their customer service and listening to their clients because this was an easy problem to solve. I bought BB dry shampoo for $29. I used it 3 times before the top broke and it stopped spraying. I purchased it online mid June, and it broke in early July. I didn't bring it into a physical store to request an exchange sooner because of COVID. Today I finally decided to bring it in and was told because it was over 60 days there was nothing they could do to offer me an exchange or refund, even given that the delay in returning was due to COVID. Big bummer. I am giving Sephora 1 star for this customer service. :( read more

Writing this review because of how badly the staff treats customers that are actually there to purchase product. I went in to purchase many things as well as pick up and order from online. When I walked in a girl standing in the front looked at me and turned the other way. After circling around trying to find the product I need staff was no where to be seen. I finally spotted someone and asked for help she told me she's with a customer and will send someone. (No on showed up and it was obvious she was with no customer). I then turned the corner to see 3 Staff members swatching makeup talking amongst themselves. So I did what any person would do and Looked in the bottom drawer to get the shade that was out of stock on display. Maybe they should restock and replenish on free time as they are on company time and not ignore customers. One employee was staring at me and shaking her head as I asked to see a manager to check the back for a product I wanted. This is why I 98% of the time shop online. Customer service no longer exists. As I was LEAVING the store, a rude employee stopped me and said "this is a work station!" she was talking to 2 other guests when I passed by so I thought it would be okay to cut through the space between the customers and the ring light they had up. There were NO signs that said it was a work area and that nobody else was allowed in. I DID NOT touch them or the equipment. I don't understand why she had to say that to me. I usually love Sephora and I feel like I practically live there...because of this I feel guilty for coming to leave a somewhat negative review. I went in to buy some Giorgio Armani foundation that I've heard raves about. I immediately asked Stacy (the first person I saw) where I could find it to try it and she explained that they didn't carry it in store (other locations did, but they don't) but she could order it for me. She proceeded to do a color match on me without asking me anything; once she was done the color seemed way too dark and I told her that. She said it was fool-proof and proceeded to place the order without even asking me if it was ok. I asked her if I could see the color in comparison the others available with that brand and she said there was no way to compare it and to look it up on my phone, which I did. Yup, color was so dark so asked her to color match me again. This time is was 2.5X lighter than the first. I asked her, based on the type of foundation I was ordering (luminous) what in-store brands would be comparable? Again, she had no idea. Yes I get that they didn't carry that brand, BUT girl c'mon you're a consultant and, here I am spending $64 on foundation in your store and you can't venture a guess on what could be similar IN your store??? She acted like I was sooo inconveniencing her. After my transaction, I went to the back of the store to buy some Sephora lip stains and dealt with a lovely sales person and instantly wished I had placed my order and dealt with the color match debacle with her. Wow, when did buying makeup become so impersonal? Went to Sephora in Roseville because I needed a heavy base to cover my face. I had a plastic bottle that fell off a store shelf so I had a black eye that made me look like a battered woman. I walked in when they opened, and three employees were talking to each other about store business, and one told me that someone would be with me. Apparently this wasn't the job of any of the three ladies that were talking. When this fourth person finally came, no small talk or vague interest in what I was doing there. She wanted my phone number so she could put it in her device to match skin tone. She insisted it was absolutely necessary to have my phone number or she couldn't serve me. I guess its been a while since I've tried on makeup! After the device typed me, she still came back with four options - like you would if you'd eyeballed it. Then I was sent to the register to wait in line again after I waited for someone to wait on me in a fully staffed store. I've had a more personal service at the Dollar store. Don't come here if you actually want to explore your options and have a discussion about whats best for you, this store is corporate and job duties are apparently compartmentalized. read more

They do not hesitate to give you any samples you ask for, and you can try almost everything out the store. Given, the prices here varies. Sephora is almost like a car sales lot, the sales sharks are usually on you right as you step through the entrance. In most cases, I find this annoying and bothersome leaving me to think "leave me alone!" But in reality- I like the customer attention that Sephora typically gives. Usually I don't have questions about products when I go in not needing any help. I went into the new Sephora at the Roseville Galleria yesterday evening. It wasn't crowded and there were plenty of employees circling the floor. Maybe I just looked as if I knew my makeup, or whatever...but no one greeted me! When it came down to it I had to go up and ask for one of their opinions between two products. She didn't help me weigh out the pro's and con's but just ended up telling me it was up to me...um? At least in customer service try to sell the product with the higher markup, right?! I love love love Sephora to the point where it gets awkward because I stay in the store way too long, and I'm usually not too judgemental about customer service...but man, this was bad! read more

Better than Ulta or either of the Mac stores in the mall ALL combined! I'm greeted every time I walk in and always approached by a knowledgeable sales person. Their expertise on the many skincare and makeup lines blows me away. I feel like I get a free class on any item I have questions about. If I'm not sure exactly what it is I'm looking for, I can give them a brief description, and they will find a few different options for me. Also, they've never steered me wrong and I'm always completely satisfied with my purchases. That hasn't been the case with Mac, unfortunately. Sephora does carry quality products which are not cheap, but this is the place I feel good about spending my time and money. The free samples they give helps me decide at home what works well, and that way the next time I'm in there, I can make the right purchase. I'll definitely be back! read more

Mariah is a total gem! This was about the third time she has helped me and I am always impressed with her amazing customer service and positive attitude. Minus a star for lack of staff and product availability. The cleanliness can also be hit or miss. This store is always slammed and as a result it is difficult to find help and they run out of products quickly. Every mirror is occupied by someone applying testers directly to their face and leaving behind dirty, used q-tips and tissue. #GROSS! Don't be that person. Ask for help! Being gross is how you get infections. The staff is too busy to help everyone Sephora HQ! Get them more payroll hours!! Get more product! I don't want to wait for it to be delivered. Customer service is a super hit or miss here - they really need to work on it. Some days I'll come in and be completely ignored, other days everyone is wonderful and things are great! I've been coming to this Sephora for the last four years and it's literally never been consistent. One extra star for my recent visit, I returned an item and received an exchange despite my item not meeting the standards for returns (which I did my previously know about) - they were very gracious and understanding that I needed to try out the product to the fullest before returning and allowed me to exchange for anything of equal value in the store. You can find almost every high-end brand of makeup, fragrance, skin care, and hair care, at this place. I absolutely love the concept of sampling the produces before buying. Do not rely on the customer service rep's information and recommendation. Most of the time the knowledge they have of the product are as much as yours, if not you may even know more about it. Horrible customer service. I wanted to exchange a foundation that I only used twice. The fist girl, I believe her name was Josie opened the bottle and spilled it on the keyboard... She told me she had to get it approved by her Manager. The Manager came over and told me I couldn't exchange it because the bottle was more than half used (it was not). Then she proceeded to spill the contents of the bottle on the counter. I would have left and not bought the foundation that I was trying to exchange it for, but I don't live close to roseville and I can't get that brand where I live. Next time, I'll just order online, because I definitely won't be returning to this one. A different Sephora was more than happy to do the exchange for me. They were quite appalled that the galleria Sephora acted the way they did. read more

Sephora is a great place for beauty novices and experts alike. It is an absolute beauty wonderland with so much to offer! The merchandise itself is well organized and easy to find. The customer service, while always friendly, definitely varies in helpfulness depending on the employee who is assisting you. My advice would be to try and visit at times when there is less of a crowd, so you can get the assistance you need promptly. I also highly, HIGHLY recommend being color matched with their Color IQ technology. You can just tell a beauty advisor you would like to be matched to your foundation shade, and they'll use a small machine (looks like a 90's cellphone!) and take pictures of your forehead, cheek, and neck. You can use the number it gives you to find a foundation that is perfect for you, and keep this number handy for the future as well! As someone with a South Asian complexion it is almost impossible finding a foundation that doesn't look too gray or too dark, so this was very helpful for me! My experiences here have always been fairly positive, even if I felt a little rushed. I went with a friend who had little knowledge of makeup, but knew what look she wanted. Her beauty advisor(who unfortunately moved) was efficient and immediately found her a foundation(Urban Decay's Naked) that made her skin look airbrushed and perfect. Moreover, she found her a concealer with the perfect consistency and color for her skin tone. On another occasion, I went to find a concealer, but the employee seemed rushed and inattentive. Also I think she accidentally gave me a cotton pad with brush cleaning chemical on it to remove my makeup(my eyes were on FIRE!!!) ...But I still got a concealer and I'm still 20-20 so yay! All in all, worth a visit. They have some great products, and you can probably find what you are looking for. read more

Lexi was great (hence two stars rather than one), but the remainder of the customer service is laughably bad, and the selection is lacking. We were sent to Salma(?) to do an online order. She was with another customer, so we waited patiently about ten feet away. She saw us waiting and said into her headset "who sent the clients to do the online order? I'm with someone else and it's, like, awkward." She was adamant that her coworker was in the wrong, extremely unprofessional, and rude. Rather than buying anything at Sephora, we chose to leave and buy directly from tarte, as they are a great company with great customer service! I have worked in customer service, and it takes virtually no effort to say "please look around, I'll be with you in a few minutes." Perhaps an employee etiquette training is in order. read more

After trying to go to the MAC counter at Nordstrom and then the MAC store and both places were busy, go figure on a Wednesday at 1 they were busy, I gave in and went to Sephora. I was going through the store looking around, but I knew what I wanted, eventually someone came up to me and asked if I needed help, she got me help. When I got what I needed, I didn't feel hassled, she did ask me if I needed a brush, I said I had one and she left me along, no pressure felt, just how I like it. I was in and out in no time, well almost... I know I have a Sephora card, or whatever they are called, and the lady at the register was being really helpful and patient since she couldn't find my name in the system, since I know I do have a hard name to spell, I showed her my id and then she got it. I didn't mind her taking a while, she was being nice about it and didn't seem annoyed at all. Other than that tiny hiccup, I'll be back....can't say I'll walk into the MAC store again though. read more

Pleasantly surprised! What can I say...I am partial to high-end cosmetics and skin-care. I like shopping at Neiman Marcus, Saks and Barneys. Since I don't have this option in Roseville, I've been shopping at Sephora and have been pleasantly surprised. The staff goes out of their way to answer questions and provide fast service at check-out. The store has a wide variety of different brands and brands that I am not familiar with.... It's really a one-stop shop for cosmetics and skin-care. I am impressed with their membership program where points buy you products! On my last visit, I accumulated enough points and got the Hour Glass sample box containing mascara, lip gloss, primer and lipstick! read more

I just love Sephora! In store or online. The one at the Galleria is excellent, if anything, their staff is too friendly (but that is just fine with me!) :) A beautiful store with an array of different products that can make anyone feel lovely. I try to shop here for my cosmetics as much as possible, as if you are a rewards member, the rewards really do come back! For my past birthdays, I have gotten a complimentary medium-sized Philosophy body wash (in 2011) and a trio of Sugar Lip Balm (in 2012.) With every purchase you accrue points. No other store gives you these kinds of perks, as once I reached a points goal (for things I needed to buy anyways) I got a deluxe trio of Philosophy Amazing Grace products. They also have an excellent return policy if you're not pleased with your product, and are always eager to make samples of products you might be interested in purchasing! My sister and I came in to get color matched. She's more of a Dior/Chanel person with very dry skin. I use Bare essentials and have really oily skin. I wanted something with long lasting matte coverage and was tired of the prime+foundation+power routine. Marco listened to what we wanted, color matched us using the scanner and then addressed our skin care routines. He finished off by showing us some contouring tips which is really pulling my whole look together. He went above and beyond! Did I mention my sister and I were playing catch with a crying toddler while he tried to work on us? He was very understanding and patient. I originally wanted Makeup Forever, but he steered me towards NARS and Hourglass foundations. I bought Nars and ended up going back the next day to buy the Hourglass too. They were both amazing in different way and I would have never tried them out w/o Marco's input. He also recommended getting a good moisturizer to address my super oily skin to forgo the primer. I purchased a mattifying moisturizer a few days ago and it really is making a difference. He recommended an excellent moisturizer/primer for my sister who LOVES IT! She's gorgeous to begin with but now she's flawless. I wholeheartedly recommend seeing Marco if you have any makeup/skincare concerns! read more

I came in 3/16/20 around 2:55pm. I came in for a refund with CHERYL with reddish hair and had the most awful experience ever. She was unpleasant and looked like she did not want to be there (obviously) I happen to work in the service industry too and understand how IMPORTANT customer service is especially in retail. She did not smile and made my experience seem like a inconvenience to her. I hope whoever reads this addresses this with her as this is not okay to treat customers the way she did with me. I love all Sephora stores because i love makeup, So making an appointment for a full face on my birthday was a must. I picked this location because i love this mall. Okay so i walk in no one ever says hi, i wait by the makeup station where you get dolled up so an employee would say something but no, Went to get an employee to notify them im here for my appointment, she says okay I'll call someone. Mind you they had a makeup class going on in front of the store. I'm waiting for 15 mins, no one shows, But someone is here doing makeup for a client also the same time as mine. [they say] I was getting frustrated thinking i wasn't getting my makeup done & all mine is at home 40 mins away. Still not one employee ask if my sister or i needed help, I again asked another employee about my Appointment she get this iPhone thing and looks it's up and as she doing that the makeup artist that was doing someone's face goes "we have another Sephora in Macy's" the girl with the phone asked my name i told her and she told the makeup artist i was her appointment. I always heard stories about bad customer service at Sephora, but I experienced it today. I went to Sephora after longest day at school and I wasn't all glammed but I looked tired as hell. I walked in and started looking for new fenty beauty foundation, I saw 3 girls standing on the make up counter thing they have, all of them ignored me when I asked for help, then I asked again, one girl came to help me but they were out of my shade, then I asked for a sample for another item, I got the sample, but the girl who was making sample for me, I tried to ask her a question she ignored me and kept talking to her coworker.
