Serafina is a restaurant I keep coming back to. I typically go for the Gnocchi Mamma but this time I got the Tagliolini Alla Portofino Pasta and was loving it! The creamy pesto sauce was delicious and the noodles were tender - would definitely get again. As a gluten free option we also got the Spaghetti Squash with Chicken added on. The patio is great for summer nights but we did encounter a bee looking to taste our food. The waitstaff allowed us to move inside to escape and then we had no more problems. read more

This dinner was amazing! The 15x4 cocktail has a special place on my all-time favorites list, it was so good! We got the truffle fries, Al Funghi pizza, and shrimp scampi rigatoni pasta. The shrimp scampi, as our amazing waitress stated, was the BEST I've ever had. So buttery, creamy, and well cooked--I will be back for the shrimp scampi! Came here with a few friends on a hot Saturday afternoon. We were able to get seated right away. Service was attentive when we first sat down as were still deciding what we wanted. Afterwards it was a little difficult to find our server at times. For drinks we got a few mules which were made with fresh mint, exactly what we needed when hanging out under the sun. My friend got a margarita pizza gluten free due to her celiac disease. I got a tagliolini tartufo Nero and my other friend got the grilled salmon. The pizza dough was surprisingly similar to non gluten free and had strips of basil on top. I liked the flavor of the pizza but was anticipating the beautiful slices of heirloom tomatoes on top. My other friends loved the grilled salmon but was very disappointed that the winsome pesto sauce was all dried out, essentially only for show. He also mentioned how he enjoyed the cannelloni bean salad underneath. My pasta dish had a charming amount of truffle taste but was definitely on the oily side with the pasta being slightly undercooked in my opinion (coming from someone who usually likes al dente in general). Fresh ingredients but so floppy that when I picked a slice up all the toppings slipped right off and had to eat it with a fork off the plate. Mid-price Italian location near Newbury, ok food. Came with some friends and we got some pizzas and the Orecchiette Napoli and Ravioli Alla Salvia. The Ravioli Alla Salvia was good, though the portion I thought was a little small for the price. Nothing really special, though a solid dough with a standard light ricotta flavor. Brown butter and sage didn't really standout in the dish. The Orecchiette Napoli could've been good but it was so salty. Like so salty it was unbearable-- I don't know how they didn't taste it first. Had multiple sources confirm from multiple tables that got the same dish and agreed. Super disappointed because the flavors were there but the salt was so overbearing. We drank all the water and asked for two more jugs because it was so salty. The pizzas were ok, particularly liked the gluten-free option dough! Service was great, the server was nice and willing to help. The vibes of the restaurant are small and intimate, a nice experience overall. My friend and I received a gift card from an industry concierge event. On Serafina's Instagram there was a lunch menu advertised. The dine out Boston menu is not advertised in their IG, website or their link thru their website. My friend called the day prior to our 3pm reservation to confirm the lunch menu. We get there and didn't receive the menu that was advertised but an exception was made. Food was good but the service we received after we wrapped up was terrible. My glass with ice was dirty along with receiving TWO dirty carry out containers. While trying to leave a tip, there was an energy shift that made us not feel welcome. Don't dilute your customer service just because folks are dining from the lunch menu or redeeming a gift card!!! read more

I came here on a Friday night for a friend's birthday and was sadly disappointed with the taste of the food. Service 4.5/5 Was seated fairly quickly for a reservation for 7 on a Friday night. The hostess and our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs. We asked for another basket of bread for our table and the staff was quick in service. Our waiter made sure to get our order correct, especially since we had someone gluten free in our party and made sure to attend to their order appropriately. I was happy that despite the large party and busy night, we were taken care of well. Atmosphere 3.5/5 I have only been to the Back Bay location so I can only speak to this location. It was moderately loud and so it was quite hard to hear our party from the other side of the table. For bigger parties, they have these awkward size round tables that make it inconvenient to have to yell across the table or pass food around. The interior design was pleasant and the slightly dimmer lighting was a nice touch during dinner time. Food 1/5 I split the Tagliolini di Portofino (pasta) and Capricciosa (pizza) with my bf and were very disappointed with the taste of both dishes. The pizza had no seasoning and tasted very bland. It merely tasted as though the ingredients were put together on the pizza but no extra effort was made to make it anything special. The pizza slice also fell apart each time I tried to pick it up, with all the ingredients falling off along with it. In terms of the pasta, I was curious to try it since it's one of their most popular dishes. Sad to say, but the pasta does not have much taste in their sauce either, with no seasoning and pasta was a bit too al dente. The flavor combination felt a bit strange with green beans, potatoes, pasta and pine nuts but we felt as though it could have done without the green beans and potatoes. What a pleasant surprise. We stopped in for lunch and all left happy. Cocktails were great, the room is comfortable and we had friendly and attentive service. Tonight we ordered from this establishment through uber eats. Two pasta dinners, one very good and one good enough. Two salads, one missing and one subpar. Specifically, the misto greens with added grilled chicken was not delivered - only the chicken arrived. And the romaine Caesar was light on leafiness heavy on ends - which made for a bitter and texturally poor salad. The parm was ordered with extra sauce for which we were charged though it was not delivered. Frustratingly, our request to have the items not delivered removed from the bill was denied. The sauce was really delicious, not too creamy or salty. The potatoes were perhaps a bit undercooked for my liking, not soft enough when you bite into it. I really enjoyed the addition of the pine nuts for more depth of flavor and added texture. An intentional crunch, unlike the potatoes. OVERVIEW It was a fine meal, not super gourmet. The service was good, but they also were not that busy. I thought the entire experience overall was positive. Went here because it was on Seated (use my code carlotta11 for $5 credit when you sign up!), and was not disappointed! it's in the heart of Newbury Street, and we easily got a reservation for the patio. Great atmosphere, and great food! I ordered the penne alla vodka, which I had been craving, and my friend ordered the farfalle al limoncello but substituted the shrimp with chicken. We had such a great time here when we visited Boston! My sister and I ordered the Al Pacino and it was soooo good. Everyone finished their meal, including my 2 year old! The kids meals even come with ice cream which is super fun. We saw a few other kids there. The place seemed somewhat family friendly. We made a same day dinner reservation in the afternoon but we're able to get a table earlier. We had a stroller with us and ended up having to carry it down in to the restaurant. They have outdoor patio seating if you aren't able to take the stairs (I didn't see an elevator or another way to get down, but I could be wrong). We'll be back next time we visit! read more

No one enjoyed their food because it was so bland. The Cacio E Pepe tasted like nothing, it really had no flavor. So plain. The Tartufo Nero Pizza was not what I expected. It was just so cheesy and I love cheese but there was no type of texture or crisp. Just like a slice of melted cheese. It was not edible, I couldn't even take it home. I actually once composed an instrumental piece named "Sarafina" for my baby niece many years ago. Always brought a smile to my face whenever I played it back. Glad to add yet another "Serafina" to my happy place. Our server Antonio was as pleasant as a modern-day young Santa Clause. Cheerful, and with absolutely conviction on the items he loved on the menu. I love a server with conviction! First thing he recommended for our salad choice was the Arugula Parmigiano. I rarely eat this because for such a simple dish, may places get it wrong. It was so good, we ordered another after we finished the first one. Loved it! 5/5! Second on the list was the fried calamari. Again, a dish so simple I remain dumbfounded that so many get it wrong. You want it done right? Come here! Perfection, perfection, perfection! The third must-have was the Rigatoni alla Bolognese. Omg good! Again..... so good we ordered a second one after we polished off the first one! It reminded me so much of my mother's recipe I was almost brought me to tears. These 3 dishes alone are worth many more future visits. We did order a couple pizza dishes, the Margherita and Alla Norcina (mushroom and sausage). Ours were slightly over-cooked on the dough, and while good, probably need to be tasted again when they get the dough right. Was it was, I'd give it a 4/5. Probably less than half the size of the other location, it has its own character while embracing the brand and same experience. A nice rectangle bar sits on the side. The drinks were tastyyyy! Nicely poured (strong) and the sangria is very tasty. I'm picky about my sangria and if it's bad (too surgary) I won't drink it. This was a little sweet but you could taste the brandy. Yum! There are 2 large round tables for large parties (10 tops) but I love that they are round!!! It's hard to be in a big group at a long table. You can't talk to everyone. I've been to several Serafina locations, and had great experiences, unfortunately this one was very disappointing due to rude and completely inattentive service. Our waitress laughed in our face when we asked for a straw for our young child's cup and said "it'll be a while" (never came). Then when I asked for a pizza by its toppings because I had forgotten its exact name at the moment she told me "listen, just tell me the name", with a serious attitude. Add to this, we were left for roughly 20-25 minutes after we ate before she came back to check on us and give us the check. I'd never go back, and it makes me wonder how this place is part of the same group of restaurants I've enjoyed so much elsewhere. There are better offerings more deserving of your money. read more

A group of 11 of us had a reservation here a few days ago. First thing I must say is the service we had was great. Our waitress was very attentive, giving not one person the chance to finish their water without a refill. Unfortunately, that's about the best thing I can say about the meal. I ordered the Bolognese. The noodles weren't cooked to AL dente. So they were chewy and some even simply broke into pieces because they were so undercooked. The guy next to me ordered a grilled chicken dish that he sent back because the chicken wasn't even warm anymore. Once he got a new one, he, said it was tasteless. The guy on the other side of me ordered the gnocchi. It looked decent, but was the size of an appetizer. Seriously, I would guess it was about 1.5 cups of food. Several others at the table also got really small servings. Another guy I spoke to ordered a panini and he said it was tasteless. There was not one person who was satisfied out of 11! We ended up going to a bar and ordering chicken wings that were do good. So yeah, I definitely would not suggest this restaurant to anyone. read more

Came here for dinner (with a reservation) on a Thursday night. Cozy, date night vibes with the right amount of liveliness. I'm in a knee brace and the host was quick to accommodate our party of two with an extra chair for me to prop my leg up without making a scene or making me feel self conscious. Our server Antonio was phenomenal and probably the kindest human. We ordered a bottle of wine, the chicken Alfredo, which was creamy and truly hit the spot, and the pizza arrabiatta. When we quickly realized how spicy the pizza was, Antonio was quick to allow us to put in another pizza order to swap it out so that we could enjoy our food rather than grinning and bearing through it. We wish we had room for dessert, but we did leave with full stomachs and the feeling of having had incredible service at a place we love and this is why we keep coming back. Owner Charges You For Ice In Drink See bill below. When check arrived, we pointed it out to waiter that our 4 vodka/sodas were charged $12 for ice. We said we would not pay it, since that was not disclosed on menu, in fine print, disappearing ink, back of the chair or anywhere else. He didn't say a word and took bill away & manager arrived. She proceeded to argue with us that that was standard and the way it comes up on their register. We said by law charging for an item has to be disclosed somewhere before you can make it a legal "agreement" that the customer and provider have agreed to the product and agreed to the price. She proceeded to argue with us about it for some time. She finally comp'ed us 15% which sort of took it off (it was still there but the total price was reduced and then some). In fairness, the service was good, food good, and manager was nice, but enforcing her owner's policies (so I gave 2 stars for food and serv). Waiter never said a word. I don't think he could explain it to us with a straight or honest face and didn't even want to try to. So I took away 3 starts for ownership and its policies. read more

I wasn't all that hungry when we walked in. My wife and I were on our anniversary weekend getaway. Our granddaughter is named Sera, so we were interested in this restaurant just because of the name. We sat at the bar and my wife ordered a pasta dish, and I'm not sure which one. She loved it. I just wanted something small, and ordered the zuppa di pomodor and the appetizer size melanzane parmigiana. The melanzane dish was so good, it restored my appetite. The soup became too much to finish, but it was delicious. I would come back here just for that melanzane dish, but will get the full meal with pasta next time. Absolutely OBSESSED! I had the Penne Alla Vodka and my boyfriend had the margarita pizza and both were great! I highly recommend the Penne alla vodka (with chicken)! Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere, and our waitress was so sweet! She even gave us suggestions on where to go while we were here! I absolutely loved the music, reminded me of my grandfather who loved to sing these songs to anyone who would listen. Overall I love this place.
