I love this restaurant. The food never, ever disappoints. If you want an authentic Cuban meal, this is where you need to go to get just that. I recommend the vaca frita. Service was VERY slow. Mahi-mahi was extremely dry as it was the chicken on the Caesar Salad. Furthermore, from everything we order, they didn't have 3 items that were on the menu. All of these stars were only earned because of our server Yarise. Because if it wasnt for her, I wouldnt even give this restaurant 1 star. When we arrived, we were seated immediately but were not greeted for atleast 10 minutes before we were sent the trainee. I saw her trainor racing around the restuarant leaving her nearly running to keep up and giving her an attitude left and right when it was clear she was trying her best and doing a great job with no acknowledgement. This is not how you train employees. Ive worked in restaurants and in customer service for years and knew that the manager definitely didnt know this was going on because the way Yarise was being treated, not only by her trainor but by the others gossiping around her, was extremely unacceptable and unprofessional. Especially considering I, a customer, immediately noticed how toxic the environment was for a new employee. Not only did it take forever for us to be acknowledged, there were issues with our order that could have been avoided if the trainor was actively training Yarise and not dismissing her and giving passive aggresive orders. Trainees are suppose to shadow their trainor, not be given tables the first week on the job. The manager was extremely kind and helpful when we brought this to her attention. This restaurant has extreme potential, it was aesthetically pleasing, however some members of the staff really ruined the experience for me. Update 10/2/17: Fred, one of the managers, stopped by my office today to deliver pastries and a gift card. I would like to apologize to Fred that I was stuck in a meeting and could not discuss this with you, but thank you for the effort. Unfortunately I cannot eat those things, but I did share them with the office. It's still disappointing that it took multiple emails and most likely the Yelp reviews for any response at all. At some point I will give your restaurant another try, but I'm not sure yet as to when. As of right now because of all that happened I will move my rating back up to the original two that I gave it. Hopefully in the future I will be able to give more. Update 9/30/17: I was contacted by multiple managers promising me that things have changed and I should come back and see. I ordered from Sergios on Caviar app and you can tell.since it is delivery they put no care into the food that goes out as they don't have to deal with returns. I ordered my favorite a pan con bistec (steaksandwich) and a cheese pastry. The steaksandwich was dry and overcooked, hardly had any onions and had 1 piece of tomato in it, covered with shoestring potatoes to the top with no sauce or anything. Dry isn't the word. Thankfully I had tomatoes lettuce and a cilantro cream sauce here at home I was able to add with some lemon to make it edible. I was looking forward to My Favorite dessert the cheese pastry. Another disappointed. Burnt on too bottom dough guy like raw and dry with no flavor!!! Like come on guys I know it's delivery, but don't send crap quality food to someone's house to avoid having to face a customer. I am a repeat client and a restaurant FOH manager. I wouldn't except this quality for any of my guest niether accept it for a crew members meal. I have been coming here for a few years and I still love it! The food is amazing! My favorite is their breakfast. If you haven't tried their french toast you need to go and try it!! It's amazing!! I also love their churrasco, I always try to get something different but always end up ordering the same thing. The only reason why I gave a 4 star instead of 5 is because their service is a bit slow. You have to constantly be on the look out to get a waiter to get you anything you need. Born & raised in Miami but moved out 2008, and Sergio's is located close to my in-laws so I usually end up going there every visit which is at least 3x annually. Service always quick, love their "flaca-menu" which is there skinny portion with just as much flavor. Love their decor as well; Full bar, happy hour, side cafe w/open window for quick delicious cafe-cubano among other pastries, sandwiches & bite size, drive-thru as well - only in Miami... I was excited to see that sergio's had a paleo friendly menu. I went to try it out to realize that its not truly paleo friendly. I sent my dish back because it had noodles and potatoes and I know for sure those are not paleo. The server said the cook didn't know what paleo was and that I received the correct dish. The server was very apologetic and provided great service. The food is good its just not paleo friendly and They are false advertising it. Dan G. - I ordered a chicken soup which had a PF right before the name. I think you need to correct your menu. Also, it will be helpful to educate your cook, servers and managers on what the paleo diet is. None of them at least last Friday 1/10 at 9pm knew what Paleo was. I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant as you walk in. The décor has a great theme and on the weekend they had a live guitar player which was very nice. The place was clean and service friendly. My down side was the food... to be honest I may be a bit harsh. But unfortunately I come from a latin family and my grandmother's cooking is top of the line. I ordered the breaded chicken "a la milanesa" as they call it. The exterior breaded portion did not feel fresh it was more like reheated then there was a tomato sauce, ham and (supposed to be) melted cheese. The cheese wasn't very melted which is what gave me the impression that it had been reheated. The salad was ok as was the yucca (needed a bit more garlic). I don't think the food is bad for someone trying Cuban food for the first time they wouldn't know the difference. However for someone who has eaten it for the most part of my life I wasn't thrilled with the food. For an "experience" this is a nice place. read more

This was my first time eating from this restaurant. As I was driving up to park and go inside, I discovered that the building had s drive thru. I didn't really feel like getting out my car so it worked out. I've eaten Cuban food before and I must say that Sergio's is pretty good. I legitimately just walked out of this establishment with my father as we intended on a quick lunch before continuing with our work day. What could have easily been 20 minutes turned into an hour. I'm honestly appalled. One would be lead to believe we ordered half the menu, but no. There seemed to be a mixup on who our server was so naturally no one came up to us. (Seriously, what's up with my luck?) We gave our entire order upon their arrival as we were on a time crunch. Ordered a pitcher of sangria- 15 minutes to hit the table. Appetizer of fried yuca another 10 minutes with ration sized garlic aioli. (Whaaaatzeeeeefack) but then my vegetarian and the espanol sandwiches took foooooooooorever. After our request to multiple servers failed on where our food could possibly be- we received it. Atleast it was warm. It was honestly so annoying and even more irritating was once the food was dropped off, I ask for the check to not have to wait another 30 minutes for it and it takes my server 10 seconds to come back and collect his money. Not cool and highly infuriating. So there's my one star. Decor is great, food is decent, but service is lacking. Service was good, atmosphere is very American (New), and the food was top notch. I have only had breakfast, but that is great every time. Prices are affordable, too. Let's be clear... This rating would be no stars if it were an option. I apologize in advance for the high blood pressure you may experience after reading this post. Based on my experiences (yes, plural) I feel I can make the following statement without it being emotionally charged, inflammatory, or unfairly over-exaggerated. The lunch service staff at the Drive-Thru and the Walk-up window are atrociously incompetent, slow and seemingly untrained on their menu and check-out register procedures. Nine times (9) my coworkers and I attempted to order a chicken soup to go for lunch and Nine times(9) we were met with outrageous delays. 20 minutes to pick up an order for SOUP is outrageous and borders on almost deliberate. This happened four (4) times. The ladies at the window now recognize us and even stated over the phone in front of us when one of them called a second time for our order to be brought up that this happens every time to them (meaning me and my coworkers). We were told by an obviously embarrassed worker not to call ahead and to just come straight to the window and even THAT was not sufficient. The attendant was slow to find the order, bring it up front, and then run our payment even though we stated that we were in hurry. Desperate to make it work since it is JUST AROUND THE CORNER from our office, we tried the drive-thru. Angels exulted in song! We got through in a completely acceptable, dare I say speedy amount time. ONCE. Today we were told that they didn't have a menu item we had ordered several times before and which is printed on their menu. (sliced avocado for .99) After explaining this to the drive-thru attendant several times, completely frustrated and to be honest quite pissed, I got out of the car, walked up to the walk-up window, asked how much the avocado was, confirmed .99, asked for a menu, walked back to the car and handed it to the Drive-up attendant. Clearly seeing that they were incorrect, they then had the audacity to serve me one (1) slice of avocado and three(3) slices of onion like they were doing me a favor. The normal order has always come with three (3) slices of avocado in the small order. I returned it back to the attendant. Explained that the order was short served to which the took the order, closed the window and I waited.... and waited...and waited for the manager to appear in the window to simply confirm that the order should have had 3 slices. I got my soup(chicken) and my avocado got back to my office only to find they forgot the lemon that is supposed to go with the soup. Meanwhile there is a nice long back-up in the Drive-Thru. Some might ask, why keep trying? It Is THE PRINCIPLE of the matter.Perhaps this post might give them a reason to look a little closer and re-examine why they are in the business of service. How hard is it to give simple customer service? What ever happened in taking pride in what you do and doing it to the best of your ability? I wont even get into the fact that everyone spoke Spanish to my coworker ignoring the fact that we were speaking to them in English. *big, deep, sigh* Bottom line. The soup is delicious. Been here a couple of times. And I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with this location. Don't think I'll be coming back to this one and here's why.... As soon as you walk in, you see a brand new state of the art restaurant, beautiful decor, very clean. Then, who you think is a hostess behind the counter, we'll she isn't! She just the cashier and she just sits there waiting for the waiters to give them the bill from the table so she can process it. I realized this was all they do, after the 3rd time coming here. So finally after waiting 10 mins when the place was near empty, we are greeted by a waitress to take us over to a table. We sit down and we immediately order empanadas. The waitresses says "I think we might be out one sec", gets on her little headset and ask the people in the back, who confirmed they were out. So we ordered our meal instead. My husband ordered the chimmichuri chicken and I ordered turkey picadillo. My meal was good but my husband meal was AWFUL! The chicken tasted like it was microwaved, and then placed on the grill for the look of the grill lines. It was so rubbery? He could barely chew it. Usually my husband don't send food back due to the fear that they might spit in our replacement food but this time, something needed to said. So the waitress took it away and my husband got the pan con bistec as a replacement. But by this time my meal was done. So he tried to finish quickly to get back to work. We were on our lunch break. The weird thing about this story is that the last time we visited this place, after I ate my meal (I had the same one) I had these sharp stomach pains almost immediately after I finished. It was bad! This review is purely for the service. We walked in, the total of 9 of us. (6 adults, 1 child, and 2 babies.) As I walked in, I looked at the two ladies just standing there staring at us and no one greeted or acknowledged us, so I didn't know where to go. So I walked over and asked if this is where we check in to get a table. And she just stared at me and looked at her book, and said "Kristine?" I said no, I did not have a reservation, we were a walk in group. She continued to look at her book flipping back and forth. As we were waiting, it seemed someone was late to work and pushed through our group to get to the front. She did not say "excuse me" or nothing! How rude. Back to checking in. So she looked at me and said 6? I said no, total is 9. And then they were speaking in Spanish and then the server said "10?" And I said, " No we have a total of 9" By then I was just really irritated because they all huddled and it seemed like they didn't know what to do. So we ended up leaving. So from what I took from this experience is, they don't know English too well, guessing they cater more towards the Spanish speaking group. Accommodating to our party of 9 was too much for these ladies, so I don't know if this place is well for groups. Not worth the headache to order food. Plus looking at the Yelp photos, their food didn't look all that great. The only reason why we came was bc our check in clerk said this restaurant was pretty good. You can get a decently portioned dish with a protein - pork, steak, grilled chicken breast, etc., accompanied by a large selection of sides, including, yuca, rice and black beans, fried plantains (you can pick two) for $9-12. I love that they offer healthy side dishes like cauliflower rice, zucchini noodles and eggplant. The food is extremely flavorful and filling. read more

Ok review update... As I mentioned I had really liked the food so we came back... I had previously been impressed at the speed of the kitchen. However, this time around I waited and waited, even though we ordered all items upon arrival. The three tables next to me (that came after me and ordered after me) got their meals way before I even got my appetizer. I watched and watched and then finally asked my waitress what was happening and she said "oh i had them make the tostones for you fresh" but everyone had fresh tostones ... So that makes no sense. My boy friend would also like me to note that no one asked him if he would like a refill- his cup sat empty as the waitress passed by and saw it multiple times... Too many people walking around, but some one needs to step up and lead and turn this place around... We came to dinner here today because we didn't feel like waiting for a table next door at longhorn. It was my first time here as we have our regular "Cuban" place we visit. I must say, i was very impressed at how quickly the kitchen got our food out, from the Chispa fries to the cafecito at the end. I ordered a churrasco and it was hands down top 5 I've ever eaten, so I recommend. My boyfriend got the chicken and he said it was really good also. The location is decorated nicely and the sangria was good so we will probably be back. I am a loyal Sergio's customer. I normally eat at the Bird Road location. This location continues to lack proper management and trained staff. The staff can use better training when dealing with large groups of customers 8 and above. We asked for drinks and the drink order delivered incorrectly. One drink was never delivered and instead of bringing Margaritas, we were served mojitos. After this, everything else went down hill. The food was delivered at different times instead of delivering everyone's order at the same time. Seems that this location needs help. read more

This is by far the best Sergio's location, in my opinion! The décor is the first thing I fell in love with. It's rustic but modern, big, bright, I just loved looking at everything in there. The service was amazing! I went during lunch time on a Wednesday. It was full and busy but we were just 2 so we sat down right away. Each table has a buzzard system where you can 1) call your server, 2) ask for the bill, or 3) buzz the manager. I've never seen that before so just like a little kid I had to play with it and buzzed "1". When the waitress came I told her that I just had to use it. She was very nice and asked me to press 1 again, I did and she said, "yes, table 17, what can I get for you?". They have many tables and many, many servers working fast. Our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the "flaca" prosciutto flat bread which comes w/tomatoes, cheese and arugula. It was really good. Prices are very reasonable. They also have a drive thru which I want to try one day before getting to work to get my café con leche fix. Today we received the Arroz Imperial and maduros from Sergio's Catering Menu. To say that the Arroz Imperial was good is an under statement, it has to be the best arroz imperial I and any of my coworkers have had. It was excellent! The maduros were awesome and the food got here perfectly in time. Miriam (the manager at Sergio's) took care of us and made our lunch experience with Sergio's a great one. My name is Chalie Gomez Valdes, I went to Sergio's December 9th, 2021 at 2:53 pm. I arrived 10 minutes after my coworkers and they were able to think about their order. I needed some time to think what I wanted to eat and the waiter came to our table a minute after I arrived and started taking the order. I told him that I needed some time to order and he told me that it has to be together and I felt rushed so I just ordered the same thing as my coworker. Luckily the vaca frita was amazing and I definitely recommend it. Then we asked if they had the little bread before the meal and he said that people don't order it anymore that's why he didn't offer it but then he said that they were out of it. Then when I asked for a dessert menu he said in a very rude way that there was no menu and he listed the desserts and was rushing everything. Also he took 10 minutes to get us water after I we asked. So as replacement for the little bread he gave us a tostada and told us he got us that for free and then he proceeded to say that it was $4 the whole time being pushy and rude. When I asked for the check I wasn't thinking on giving him a tip because of how upset I was. Then I remembered the tostada was 4$ so I tipped him 4$. When he saw the tip he said "that's all you giving me". I this point I was very upset and I asked for his name and he stuttered and said "Roberto". I didn't believed that was his name so I went to the host in the front and asked her what was his name and pointed at him. The host said it was "Angel", so he lied to us about the little bread and his name and was being completely rude and rushing which made us feel uncomfortable.
