Conveniently located across the street from our hotel, we decided to try this place for a late lunch/early dinner before heading to a concert. The vibe was warm, almost cozy and very welcoming and friendly. We arrived just before 3pm on a Sunday and were promptly greeted and taken to our table which was roomy and had nice comfortable chairs, which was perfect because we'd been walking around downtown all morning. Our server was awesome, he explained the menu and the pizza options taking into account our preferred but also sharing his recommendations. We opted for the mixed greens and charred Brussels to start. The mixed greens were super fresh & vibrant and the charred Brussels were delicious because of the black garlic-sunchoke purée and parmigiano. For our mains we ordered two pies: the sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers, provolone and added pepperoni as well as the roasted pear, caramelized onion, house pancetta, goat cheese (subbed provolone because they were out of goat cheese), hot honey. Each pizza tasted incredible and because they had such different flavor profiles they complemented each other nicely. The sausage & peppers was like a warm comforting meal and the pear was a perfect balance of savory and sweet, like a good dessert. Service was great. I decided to add Coro pepperoni (5), and on a whim, I also got a side of Calabrian chili crisp (3). The pizza itself was decent, with a pretty good dough as the foundation. The pepperoni was a nice addition, but I wasn't impressed with the chili crisp, it didn't add much to the overall flavor. The biggest issue was the lack of toppings. For the price, I expected more generous portions, and while the flavors were good, it felt like something was missing. I also tried the large Tom's Tasty Tomato Soup with house-made focaccia (12). The soup was the highlight: rich, flavorful, and comforting, paired well with the soft, warm focaccia. I'm not sure why restaurants need to be so dark these days! I hate when i have to pull out my phone flashlight to read the menu. This might be a function of my age, but we weren't the only ones doing so. The pizza receives mixed reviews. We got the sausage and the clam pizzas. In both cases, i feel like there wasn't enough of the star ingredient. That is, not enough sausage and not enough clam. Of course, it was too dark to actually tell how much and the clam was covered in cheese. The flavor of the Sausage pizza was good because of the peppers but it was a little too soggy in the middle because it's a thin crust. Except for the first bite, the flavor of the clam pizza was mostly the cheese. It too had a thin, almost cracker crust. My 2 stars isn't that Serious Pie is bad pizza. It means I'd be willing to go back if a group wanted to go but I'd suggest somewhere else. For thin crust in a dark restaurant, I'd go about .5 miles due south. For a thicker crust in a brighter restaurant, I'd go about .1 miles due north. read more

So we just went to the take out counter in the back and it took 10-15 min for the pizza to be made. Creamy and rich pizza and the mushrooms have a slight bite to them. So good! Serious Pie in Seattle was a huge disappointment and absolutely did not feel family friendly. Parents should be warned to keep their kids away if they do not want to be made to feel unwelcome. There was a small wait, and I stood at the front for a few minutes waiting for someone to come greet me and take my name. While I was waiting, my wife and kids sat on a corner bench near the bar. The restaurant was not packed, nobody was anywhere near that side of the bar, and the bench was about 15 feet from the closest bar chair. Despite that, a waiter came over and told them they had to leave. It was rude, unnecessary, and honestly ridiculous. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt uncomfortable and singled out, so we left. Literally the best pizza ever. Spent Christmas Eve roaming DT with my bf. We couldn't decided on the other 4 choices so we settled on pizza and it was literally so flavorful! Okay here's how long it's been since I went to Serious Pie: they were still located in South Lake Union and were called Serious Pie & Biscuit. So when I was invited for dinner recently at Serious Pie in Seattle, I headed straight for SLU. Oops, they're no longer there! Instead, they've moved to the former Dahlia Lounge location on 4th Ave. Okay, so I was a few minutes late for dinner. Other than this geographical mixup (which was entirely my fault), my experience at Serious Pie was flawless and magical! First things first, yes the pizzas here are a little more pricey than other places, but (considering I paid over $35 for a large pizza recently) not THAT much more expensive. And they truly (some might say, SERIOUSLY) do an amazing job here. Their toppings are interesting and innovative, their crust divine and perfectly fired. Our pizza featured roast pear, house pancetta, caramelized onion, goat cheese, and hot honey. As the server described it, my mouth started watering. He described it as a more innovative take on the "sweet and salty" mouthfeel of your typical Hawaiian-style pizza. And he wasn't wrong. This thing was DELISH. We also shared a chopped salad, which was the perfect precursor to the pizza. And, of course, a couple of beers to wash it all down. Sadly, we were too full for dessert, since Dahlia Bakery shares the SP space and all sorts of scrumptious, sweet concoctions were available to order. Next time, next time. We also got one with pear, pancetta, goat cheese and hot honey. This was the crowd favorite! We came back two more times just to get this pizza.
