Solid AYCE hot pot. 2nd time in and I know I'll be back again. At $28, you have your choice of fresh veggies, seafood, and meats. Today, I got the original house broth and my cousin got the spicy miso. First time I came I had the sukiyaki and my friend got the tonkotsu (sp?). All great broths, but the spicy miso is my fave so far. What really makes this place is the selection. My friend I and were STOKED with the quail eggs - These are so expensive elsewhere but you can get as many as you want here. The seafood selection is fresh and adds flavor to your broth too. So nice to see sweet potato and several unusual starch items, like the brown konjic. Only thing missing is some mandoo/gyoza! Why only 4-stars? I think adding more broths would be great. Developing the flavors is a given as well. The original is pretty one-dimensional in terms of flavor. In this sense, Shabuya is more traditional in shabu-shabu than hotpot. The enjoyment comes from the natural flavor of the fresh veggies, meats, and seafood, rather than the broth itself. In that case, a dipping salt to bring out the umami may be better suited. Shabuya should source Gen's green salt (stuff is life-changing!) For my dining experience this time, I used the beef, mushrooms, and the dipping sauces to build a more tasty experience. With the miso broth, umami is built in. Just an idea, but a classic "ramen" broth would be an AMAZING addition. I'm dreaming here, but for those of us who are craving "fancy" AND "comfort," an option of Shin Ramen or Jin Ramen flavor packets would be a fantastic (and cheap) way to build complexity with the base broth selections. Rice cakes/tteok would be a major bonus as well! Like build your own saimin...but with fresh ingredients, not like the veggies about to go bad in the fridge...something I'm guilty of, lol. Oh, Shabuya should add fresh eggs too to crack into the pot! Service was spectacular today; our server was friendly, not overbearing, and checked in frequently without being "too much." Overall, this is a great place to get your hot pot fix. 5-star potential for sure. A few added additions and this place will be a home run. read more

Good quality food, good ambiance, and somewhat good service. It's always busy so I understand, but it becomes an issue if I have to keep flagging down our waitress to ask for the same thing at least 3 times. Overall though it's a good place to eat. read more

The wait was over an hour for weekday lunch, but it was so WORTH IT! (Make sure to join the waitlist through Yelp.) While this place was bustling, service was incredibly organized & efficient. All of our meats and appetizers arrived just moments after ordering. The price was very reasonable considering the quality and variety. It's a very good deal for lunch! The place was very clean and choices were great. The only thing I wish they had was cartilage, tendon, and tripe but other than that, enjoyed this place a lot. The chicken karaage appetizer was also good and was unlimited. As with all these all you can eat places, I wish I could eat more haha. read more

It's been probably our 50th time here and the food and service keep getting better and better. #icebear was great. The food comes out fresh and keeps coming and coming as long as your bellies can handle it. Recommend the sukiyaki brother. Mix of savory and sweet. My husband gets the miso. Also a winner. Will review again on our 100th trip. Lines do get long but they have waitlist on Yelp so definitely use that. read more

i absolutely love the sukiyaki soup base and the meat and vegetables are perfect. ive been seated in the back a few times and took notice that they prioritze service to the tourists instead of locals, me and my girlfriend went the entire meal only being checked up on once despite needing some refills, and thats happened a few times. being seated in the front, theres better service but the servers in the back need to kind of... NOT neglect local customers and tend to them as much as they do with the tourists. overall, food is good and its my fav hotpot spot. read more

Wait during dinner is always long. Though the food is always good. Service can either be a good one or just average, just depends on what kind of server you get. There's a good variety of toppings for the hot pot. For the meat, I just go for any pork. Beef isn't might favorite in this location. The hurricane soju is always good. Atmosphere is good. read more

If you are vegetarian or vegan, I highly recommend coming here because there is plenty of options and everything is fresh and delicious. I really love the spicy miso soup base and I make sure to add tons of kim chee, greens, mushrooms, tofu, and healthy green noodles. I come here with my family almost weekly, and the service has always been stellar. read more

Went here a few months ago with some friends and it was my first ever hotpot experience. The broth was delicious and full of flavor that I couldn't help but get a second serving. Got put on the waitlist around 7:15 Yelp website told us to check back at 8:15 we came back at at 8:14, we were told they're still trying to clean up a table for me and my party and they'd text us when it's ready... finally got seated at 8:30... my party only got through 2 rounds of ordering and we were informed by the waiter on our table that they were doing a last call on everything.. I asked the waiter why they're doing a last call at 9 when we literally just got sat.. I was really irritated with the waiters response he told me "oh we close early now because of covid and stuff". Oh? Then why havent they updated their hours on yelp or even Google or even there instagram and website?!?!?! If I knew they were closing at 9 I would've never put my name on the waitlist. Not only that but staff kept rushing us and kept trying to clear the plates off our table when we still had meat and vegetables clearly there... not a very happy experience and i usually come here alot Other than that the food and drinks were good though just wish I could've enjoyed it more read more

Believe it or not, this was my first time eating hotpot. Let me note I'm 23 years old LOL. I went with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Luckily, my friend went to the mall early to put our name in and was told it would be a 60-90 min wait for a party of 5 at around 4:45pm. About 20 min later, our table was ready so a lot faster than we were told. Your entire party has to be there to be seated. For drinks, we got their hurricane soju cocktails, which used to come in these light-up caprisun bags, but now they just serve them in a glass. I got their yogurt soju, while my friends got their mango, strawberry, and melona. My favorite had to be the melona flavor. They have a wide selection of things to put in your pot and I love how you get your individual broth. They have a great meat selection, but they do charge you $7 a plate if you don't eat it. The sad thing is if you don't like your broth, you're stuck with it, so I'm glad I really enjoyed the sukiyaki broth I chose. They also have different types of chicken karaage to choose from for appetizers. We ordered all 3 types and my favorite was the soy-glazed chicken. Overall, we had such a great time. Our server, carebear aka Jay, was the best! He really took care of us and was super friendly. I'm glad my first experience was a memorable one and I'll be back! read more

Really good hot pot place. My kids loved it we got the sukiyaki, original, & spicy soup. We love seafood so we ate a ton of clams. My oldest loves meat so he ordered a ton of ribeye meat. My baby loves Ramen. We will be stuffed for days. read more

Favorite hot pot spot of my friends and I. It's a far drive for most of us so we'll come here on occasion and it's always a great time. Servers are friendly and accommodating. Food is great. Wait could take a long while but if you plan ahead, it's not bad. We've never had to wait an hour for our table even with how big our group is. But make sure your whole group is with you! read more

We were seated immediately for lunch and our server came to check in on us and get our drinks started. It's typical shabu shabu style, where you have a hot pot with broth to cook your items, including various cuts of meat. I went with a tonkatsu broth, and hubs went with the spicy miso, and then we headed to the buffet bar. Traditional fares with veggies, fish balls, tofu, quail eggs, shrimp, and mushrooms, and various noodles. I usually strategize when doing AYCE, because my main focus is on the top-quality items, in this case, the meats. They have a variety of dipping sauces that are fun to try and mix and match to get the sauce you desire. I tend to prefer wagyu and pork belly, but we also tried the short rib and top blade, all of which were delicious, but I did circle back and ordered a second plate of the wagyu. Little bit higher in cost, but being in Ala Moana, and having a decent buffet to choose from evens that out. psst! I'll share a secret with you, if there is bread by the noodles grab some. It may seem odd and out of place, especially because the bread kind of resembles a cream puff style pastry, but dunk that puppy in your soup and enjoy! I went back for seconds of the bread because it just went so well with my soup. read more

Horrible customer service and a rude Asian lady manager. Waited 2 hours past our reservation time and all she could say was "I'm sorry" and whatever poor excuse she made. Our party was split up so we couldn't even eat together. Then we were limited on time so basically we were rushed to get food before last call. I wouldn't even bother giving this place a second chance. Rokaru is a way better option, with good customer service and employees that care. read more

My family has a big appetite and we LOVE hotpot, so I decided to celebrate my birthday at Shabuya. Everyone was a big fan of individual hot pots per person and the unlimited meat and sides. The entire staff was extremely accommodating. Our server, Zach, was super friendly and always checked in with us as he was passing by to make sure we were enjoying our dining experience. We went on a Saturday night around 7:00 pm. The wait was 40 minutes. I really like that you can put your name down and when your table is ready they text you. Once you are seated you choose your own broth and you have your own pan. The price is $28 for AYCE. My biggest tip is to place your meat orders early before you get up to get seafood and vegetables. The portion for the meat is not a lot so you just keep ordering once your first order comes in. The food is good! The broth is delicious! So why 3 stars? IT WAS HOT in there. Hot to the point you couldn't enjoy your meal. People were sweating and it was super uncomfortable. I asked if the AC is broken and our server said, "no. It's just not that strong." I'll stick to Little Sheep for now. Please make the AC stronger!!! read more

Who eats shabu shabu on a hot summer day in Hawaii? We do!! My friend and I came here after our massage before we started our shopping escapades. We like how the bar where you get your veggies and seafood are always topped off. They have a variety of seafood. Shellfish, noodles and other items to choose from at the bar. although we were seated at the bar we had someone always checking on us and even turned up the AC for us as it can get a little warm when you are cooking your own food. read more

Couple reasons why I have this place a 1-star: 1. Never come to add broth 2. There is a fly flying around 3. All sauces provided are sour! 4. The taste isn't good to be rated at 4.4! I will probably rate it a 3.0 on average 5. Never come to ask if we want anything more 6. Chicken karage we ordered was forgotten and when we asked for it again they gave us one that is cold already I will NEVER come again! Very upset! read more

Pretty good service. Nice variety of food. Price not bad for what you get. The wait was a little long, but appreciate the app that calls you when they are ready. Loved the tech. We went shopping, so the wait wasn't too bad. We were a little bummed we missed the early bird special, but it would've been only $5 we would've saved. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO PUT YOURSELF ON THE WAITLIST! It can be a horrendous wait for this place but I love this place so much. It hits the spot every time. They used to do their soju drinks in these adorable caprisun like bag with light up ice cubes but last time I went they didn't do it anymore :( Hopefully it was just a busy night but this place is fun for birthdays! I love that the meat comes so quickly on top of being able to order 8 of them at a time. The selection of veggies, noodles, shellfish, & sauces is great too. I would've given Shabuya a 5 star if the music wasn't so loud, I could barely head my server or my mom talk. I've been here about 7 times and I've never been disappointed. So, I decide it was finally time to leave a review. Shabuya is one of my favorite hot pot places in Honolulu to go to. It's all all you can eat hot pot place, the meats are always good. They have a selection of 5 proteins to choose from: Black Angus Beef Toro, Natural Pork Belly, Prime Chuck Eye Roll, Natural Chicken Thigh, and Natural Pork Shoulder. My absolute favorite is the Pork Belly! There is a wide selection of vegetables, seafood, and noodles to choose from And there are also 5 broths to choose from: Original House, Miso, Spicy Miso, Tonkastu, and Sukiyaki. My go to is always the Original House Broth as I'm there to eat a lot of the veggies, seafood and meats. There is also a wide selection of dipping sauces to chose from, my favorite is Goma(Sesame Seeds). Today we went during the lunch hours so it was $17.99 per person drinks are extra. Been there for lunch and dinner. Lunch menu is $17.99 a head. Descent selection, but my favorite is the dinner menu. The bar is loaded with seafood, veggies, different types of noodles and mushrooms. The sauce station is nice because you can create your own. I thought the dessert (macaroon ice cream) was part of the meal, but it's $3.95 per piece. Imagine our bulging eyes when we realized the dessert was NOT part of the meal!!!! It was delicious though! Every flavor was worth every penny. Overall, service is good. Food is excellent for the price. I will return again and again. read more

We came on a Tuesday afternoon around 1 with no one else inside, so thankfully no wait. It is cute bar seating with self service ginger (a plus!) and water. Loved the vibe in there. 2.5 Hour Wait, Zero Accountability - Shibuya Ala Moana Needs Better Front Staff We arrived at 6:30 PM with a confirmed 10-top reservation. We were told 30-45 minutes, which we were fine with. We patiently waited, even after a 45-person party went ahead of us. Then the real problem started. The young male host at the front desk kept giving us false wait times, saying "another 15-20 minutes" multiple times. Meanwhile, we watched 8-tops, 9-tops, and even an 11-top get seated ahead of us--despite us being next on the list. We made it very clear that we were okay being split into nearby tables. We had children and a toddler, and the host saw this, yet continued to seat adult-only tables ahead of us with zero explanation. He was more focused on laughing and chatting with coworkers than managing seating properly. After over 2.5 hours, we finally confronted a female staff member who seemed to be in charge. Suddenly, within 5 minutes, a table appeared--proving we could have been seated much earlier had the host done his job correctly. Server was great - but service systems are broken * Two guests waited almost an hour for a second drink. * Plates and sauce dishes had to be requested multiple times. * The keiki meal policy was not honored until we pointed it out, and even then it was only partly corrected. Final impression No thank you, no happy birthday acknowledgment, no hospitality after waiting that long. Instead, the same host that made us wait gave us a stink eye as we left. That alone says everything about how they value customers. I've worked in restaurants for 25+ years, both front and back of house. This was a clear failure in training, awareness, and basic hospitality. The server did his best, but front-of-house management needs serious improvement. Would we return? I would like to address some concerns regarding their waitlist system and hostesses at the restaurant. Firstly, I must commend the establishment on the excellent food and service, particularly acknowledging the efforts of "#Knock2" for providing exceptional service. However, when we utilized the Yelp waitlist for a reservation at 6:00 pm, the system indicated that we should check in by 6:50 pm and would be seated by 7:30 pm. We had a party of 8, and upon arrival, part of our group was present. We checked in as instructed, but unfortunately, we were marked as "partial." The hostess mentioned that once our entire party was present, we should return to inform her, and she would seat us promptly. We followed her instructions, and when all members of our party arrived, we approached the hostess in the blue shirt, expecting to be seated. However, she informed us that we would receive a text when it was our turn, as if we had just walked in. We waited for an hour and a half before finally receiving the notification that our table was ready. This delay was understandably frustrating. Additionally, it appeared that the hostess in the blue shirt, who I assumed was the manager, was not effectively managing the waitlist, as she seated a partial party of 9 before us and informed them that their eating time limit would begin upon seating. When she turned to our party, she mentioned that our table was still being cleaned and that we would be seated as soon as possible. While I was disappointed with this situation, I chose not to address it further at the time. In conclusion, I believe there is room for improvement in the waitlist management process, and I hope that the restaurant can enhance their procedures to ensure a smoother experience for all guests. read more

From the moment we sat down, Katrina went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was top-notch. She recommended her personal favorite soup and we were so glad we trusted her - it was truly delicious! Even though the salad bar was out of cilantro and jalapeños, Katrina made sure we were accommodated with them very quickly. To me, hot pot is made extra good when there's a robust sauce bar. That is one of the main reasons I rate it 3 stars - the sauces are not very good. The chili oil is mid and the sesame/peanut whatever it is sauce tastes of miracle whip. They also don't offer tofu skins or curd or lotus root which is a must for a good hot pot experience for me. The service was good. We tipped pretty big because even though our server was under stress from the rush, he still served us well and was very apologetic for the delay of our order. We were seated an hour before they closed and they were still really busy, so i understand that sometimes they might take longer to give us our orders. We were seated next to other people in the middle of the restaurant. my only concern is that the tables should be spread out a little because being seated next to other people gives us no privacy and the people next to us kept touching our food on accident because there was no space between us at all. The convenience of joining the waitlist through the Yelp app was a game-changer, although I'd recommend checking in early as wait times can go up to 2 hours. Once inside, the $29.99 all-you-can-eat option felt like a steal, and the buffet bar offered a delightful array of noodles, sauces, and seafood to enhance my hot pot. I had the sukiyaki broth which was flavorful and adding onions to increase the flavor profile. However, during peak hours, the wait can be long and the restaurant can get crowded. Additionally, be aware that a tip is automatically added to parties of 6 or more, which can be a surprise if you're not expecting it. Shabuya is a very good hot pot spot! They have an excellent selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables -- everything was fresh and delicious. The staff were kind and attentive, and service was efficient. I really enjoyed the cozy vibes of the place, which made the dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. The only downside was that while we were there, a fly landed on one of our pieces of meat and there were some gnats trying to get into our food, which was a little distracting. One word...AMAZING. Came in on a Sunday night and there was about a 30 minutes so we went shopping in the meantime. About 20 minutes later we received a text message stating our table was ready! We came in and the hostess seated us promptly, the waiter came by and introduced us to the menu and gave us his own personal recommendations. I even asked how much the Wagyu sushi cost, and she said $6, so I ordered two shrimp and two Wagyu sushi orders, believing we could order à la carte. Instead, she later brought four full meat platters without ever confirming that we were being signed up for four all-you-can-eat meals. When the bill arrived, we were charged 4 × $48 (over $200). What makes this even more deceptive is that none of the side orders we requested were charged separately. It felt like the only objective was to charge us for four all-you-can-eat meals, regardless of what we actually asked for. To make matters worse, we were the only customers in the restaurant, which made the whole experience even more surprising. I honestly don't understand how this place has so many positive reviews. I left feeling completely misled and defrauded. If you decide to eat here, make sure you get every charge explained clearly before ordering.
