I've been to Shah's a few times over the past few years and have had a pretty solid experience during all of my visits. I most recently came last weekend to grab a quick dinner. The place is pretty no frills but has a decent amount of seating and is kept fairly clean. The menu is pretty consistent with what you find at any halal cart anywhere. It's great that prices are also kept pretty in line (platters are $6, sodas are $1, etc...) and that they accept credit card. My meal did come out to $7.60 for a chicken kofta kebab platter and soda, so I got charged tax unfortunately. But not too egregious. The chicken kofta kebab platter was all around solid. The chicken was quite good and didn't really taste ultra low quality like some of the gyro meat you get at halal carts. The basmati rice was solid as well and cooked more on the al dente side rather than ultra soft, which I liked. It had a little bit more body to it. The salad included was pretty solid as well; I like how they included cucumbers in addition to lettuce and tomatoes. And the lettuce was not brown like how it comes at times at halal carts. White sauce and hot sauce were pretty standard. All in all, I really enjoyed my platter. My only criticism is that they seem to give slightly less food compared to other halal cart type places. Working at night makes you hungry. A large group of us ordered delivery. Those of us who ordered the recommended chicken over rice requested the white and spicy sauces on the side. I am very picky when it comes to my chicken and rice (halal cart food). I like my cart food to be fresh, hot and flavorful. My cousin was raving about Shah's, and how it is the best chicken and rice she's ever eaten and how she loves it. Because of that, I felt like I went in with very high expectations. What I like about the place is that it is an actual place - not a truck, not a cart - so the freshness and cleanliness is there. As for the flavor, I feel like it didn't really meet my expectations. The white sauce isn't as salty and flavorful as I like my white sauce. I also bought a bottle, which I kind of wish I didn't because it wasn't my favorite white sauce. I like a little bbq and hot sauce on it too and it really wasn't doing it for me. There wasn't any heat from the hot sauce and the dish was too sweet cause of the Bbq sauce. I could have been a first to review my mother found this place so fast in its first days just by getting a whiff of it out an open door, upon walking out of a neighboring store. Never saw it, just said she thought she smelt a food truck and looked over at an open door someone going in / out. Walked over to see what was clearly just that..... Actually, I had written a composed review when a few months ago, we visited here. I believe it is somewhere sitting in cyberspace as when I checked to add pictures- there was no review. So, what I can remember of it, You wait on a line with marked tape 6 ft or so apart. Then you go to the counter and order. I ordered a Lamb Gyro and another platter that I can not recall what it was called. (see pix) But you can check the menu. The wait was not too long and I noted how clean the place looked and the assistance of the two workers behind the counter. What I recall of it, was, that the food was averagely good. I came here around 7 pm on a Sunday after getting a smoothie next door from TSC. At first I took a peek inside and saw that there were a good amount of people dining in at the time so figured why not give it a try. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They do not carry beef gyro here, only chicken, lamb, fish or falafel. I got the chicken over rice and requested extra white & hot sauce. Ready within 3 minutes or so. The platter came with rice, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and A LOT of chicken on top for ONLY $6. The white sauce complimented the dish really well but the hot sauce was not hot at all. The chicken was tender and well seasoned but I wasn't really a fan of the rice, it was kinda hard. Ok, I really don't know much about halal restaurants so I cannot compare. What I do know is that rhis place gets packed late nights There are always people waiting to be served whenever I walk in. The chicken over rice combo seems to be the most popular dish however many order chicken nuggets. The staff are not the friendliest however they are serious about serving each customer quickly as to move the line. They get to know their regulars and it is an honor when you get that friendly greeting as if meeting an old friend of the family. As far as mall food court eats go, Shah's is a solid choice. I went with a very basic chicken salad with extra spiciness and it really hit the spot. I didn't get their white sauce or rice, so I can't speak to the quality of theirs, but there are plenty of options to mix into your food. The falafel was just ok. I've had better from other places to say the least. Overall the food is decent but you could get more bang for your buck somewhere else. They are very quick with your order in having it made, ringing you up and getting you out (unless you wanna stay to eat) in which there is old school cafeteria style seating.
